Guess Who I Am
[Ep1] Song Yao (Zhang Yu Xi), an exhausted, mousy, writer, meets with her publisher. Her romance story is rejected. Outdated! Readers want complex, realistic stories now. Dejected, as she leaves, the publisher's boss comes ranting about how there aren't any good stories with suspense, imagination, comedy and action. Song Yao hijacks some guy's jacket. She swaggers in all bravado and convinces the boss to sign her up because she has the story he wants. Publisher applauds her outlandish acting. At home she stares at her consolation whiskey glass and is struck by an idea....
Goons were looking for a woman in a long dress, therefore, ripping her skirt was completely necessary. 🙄
Techie Gu climbs out the window when he approaches. Song Yao lobs a ball of yarn at his exposed head, making him fall down from the second story. He only loses his shirt and not any limbs. He's limping and semi-streaking back to the florist shop hangout. Song Ling Ren goes in to stop him from interrupting Qin Hao. Hilarity ensues. It's love at first car-dong for him. His face was apparently flushed and he was as giddy as a newly wed.
[Ep9] Breaking News! Qin Hao has a doorbell! Boo, it's Liang Jingyi there. She brought a mint green cake to match her outfit. Cake for breakfast? It's part of his Plan A - Get Song Yao to Cohab with Him. Wonder what Plan B would be?
Alone With the frog in his room, he remembers the near kiss at the mall. "Why am I thinking of her?" Poor froggy was covered up. That doesn't hide your heart, Qin Hao.
[Ep10] I wish they were able to hire a graphic artist like Fake It Till You Make It for this opening OST. It gets catchy but the images are boring. Anyhoo, SSL is waltzing in his room and figured out The Justice Committee is Song Yao's. Her PI group must be legal to be able to advertise, right?
[Ep11] Qin Hao shuts up the reporters by announcing that Song Yao isn't his girlfriend, she is his wife. They will have a wedding soon. Back at home, our schemer pretends to be troubled by what happened. He leans onto the couch to brace himself. So much distress! He's really upset that she was photograph with another man, which would expose their deal, and he HAD to mention the wedding to rescue her.
[Ep12] Our runaway bride is at the hospital. Her mother has coded and the doctors are resuscitating her. Things are looking grim, she needs surgery, but the hospital does not have the expertise for this procedure. Qin Hao knows a famous surgeon. Despite the surgeon knowing his real identity and may accidentally expose him, Qin Hao has him helicoptered in. He's a fake CEO, but it didn't take him long to learn all the moves.
The theme of the show. Being yourself and learning to trust. Qin Hao wipes her tears. Yao Yao opens up about her mother. Qin Hao is here to listen. Flashback to young Yao Yao receiving the phone call about the accident. Drunk driver. She has been in a coma for 15 years. Techie Gu's mother raised her. Aww, that's why they are like siblings. Yao Yao made a lot of enemies. She has tried to be cautions. This is why she doesn't trust easily, either.
[Ep13] Qin Hao starts working on the busted pipe. It looks like someone *cough* Team Yao *cough* took a hack saw to it. Yao Yao has a plumber fantasy.
[Ep14] JNX is driving Qin Hao and Yao Yao. JNX shushes Qin Hao when he talks about joining the Board of Directors because Yao Yao is there. Qin Hao says Yao Yao knows everything, much to JNX's chagrin. Jealous? Also, his driving really stinks. Qin Hao holds Yao Yao's hands. "I trust her". Yep, perfectly normal business partner behavior. 
Back to our adorable couple. First exercise, they are cooperate drones riding the bus... The key is the swinging movements and to follow the inertia. Qin Hao is busy watching Yao Yao instead of mimicking her. He is observing her as instructed. Arm up.
This cheeky guy. They keep practicing. Their big smiles are adorable. All the exercises end with him finding a way to hug her.
[Ep15] Time for Operation Weed Out Mole With Our Awesome Acting. Techie Gu and Boss Song are in the surveillance van. She is secretly admiring his impressive and adorable nerd skills.
Yao Yao deletes the pictures but then realizes Qin Hao isn't putting up much resistance...
[Ep16] Riyue Bay Project bidding event. As Qin Hao is about to go in for his turn, he gets a phone call. Succinctly, he answers that he understands the other person and whispers something to JNX. As Qin Hao passes by a gloating SSL, who thinks he aced his bid proposal, our evil dragon stops the knight to tell him something.
She is sooooooo sweet. 🥰 🥰🥰 Qin Hao looks like he is ready to give her a kidney or two. He gently holds her hands.
[Ep17] Qin Hao and Yao Yao wake up in a dark shipping container. Qin Hao found a sharp object and was able to cut off his zip tie. They scream and kick for help but no one responds. Base on the outside noise, they realize they are near the sea, but it is night time. Best to conserve their energy till morning. Pan out, there are hundreds and hundreds of shipping containers. Things look bleak.
[Ep18] At the flame lighting ceremony, Qin Hao is about to pass out from his PTSD. Yao Yao grabs the flame holder. "I'm here." She reassures him. Together, they light the flames. He gathers himself and gives a speech demonstrating his leadership. Aww, he's holding her hand. United. 
She covers his eyes and they are at the beach at night. When he opens them, fireworks are set off. The close range sparks initially trigger his PTSD, but as he gazes at Yao Yao, his nerves are at peace.

Trendy bar, we overhear mission planning. Waiter will bring a rigged whiskey to some rich playboy, it will break with a press of a remote button, pretty fierce girl will get playboy's blood sample. Their dark, mysterious leader is Qin Hao (Wang Zi Qi). Song Yao and her team are also here on a mission. Wearing sunglasses in the dark nightclub, she looks for her prey, a cheating scumbag. There's electronic interference because of the close proximity of the 2 teams' communication devices. Qin Hao and Song Yao notice each other.
Song Yao mesmerizes the cheating scumbag with her electric eyes. Her client is his ex-wife. In a trance, he signs the divorce papers giving back ex-wife's money. Earlier, she had accidentally picked up the rigged whiskey glass. Qin Hao explodes it, expecting playboy to be hit, but it goes off in cheater's hand instead. This breaks cheater's trance, his men chases her. She hides near Qin Hao's target. When Qin Hao creates a diversion by kicking away her hiding spot, he realizes that she is in danger. He rescues her by doing this:

Megacompany Chengtian needs a new CEO. Qin Hao shocks everyone by showing up as Ji Cheng Chuan, the long lost, thought dead, oldest son of Chairman Ji Hong Lin. Rich playboy with a tube less blood, Ji Cheng An, is Chairman Ji's 2nd son from his mistress. Qin Hao/JCC recounts how a fire killed his mother and his childhood friend, who they thought was him. A DNA test proves his identity. Thanks, fake Didi! JCC claims his CEO rights according to his mother's will. Hey, old guys, nepotism bites. Chairman Ji gives him 7 days to produce his mother's seal which was in a pendant in order to fulfill his mother's CEO accession criteria. Qin Hao has disdain and hatred in his eyes.
Chairman Ji lights a cigar. Qin Hao becomes uncomfortable at the sight of the fire. PTSD.
Song Yao receives a new mission with a big reward money. Her target, a bad dude who will disown his father for an inheritance: Ji Cheng Chuan

[Ep2] Qin Hao's team must find the necklace pendant. Qin Hao doesn't remember what it looks like because he only spent a few hours with the real Ji Cheng Chuan. Looking through the old fire photos, he suddenly remembers something. He goes down to his basement with his serial killer wall of clues tracking.
Drunken Song Yao finds Qin Hao at this moment. Drags him out to bidong him. She doesn't believe he can resist her eyes after 3 seconds. 
[Ep3] Song Yao tells her bestie that she is playing hard to get. She knew scheming Qin Hao's question must have a trick answer. Bestie is going to create damsel in distress situation for Qin Hao to save her. Song Yao excitedly sees 4 men holding baseball bats, waiting outside. Impressed with Bestie's efficiency, she dishevels herself and slams up against a wall, ready for a great performance. Story Song Yao is writer Song Yao's alter ego in the acting department. 
[Ep4] Song Yao anxiously texts a busy gaming Techie Gu to hide JCC's intel. He finally realizes the impending exposure and shoddily hides everything. Jiang Nan Xuan and Song Ling Ren are also here watching from a distant car. JNX confesses almost falling in love with thoughtful Qin Hao. 🤣
15 years ago, the fire killed his father, Qi Ming, and JCC and his mother. Qin Hao escaped by hiding in the closet. The incident made him have a blurry memory, but he woke up holding a special cuff link from the Chengtian Corporation. He wants to find the cuff link owner, determine if the incident was really an accident, if not, seek justice for his family.
In pain, he remembers JCC being scolded for giving the necklace to a little girlfriend on Yuzhou Island. Young JCC was already exhibiting CEOness gift giving.
Song Yao visits her unconscious mother in the hospital. All her missions are to pay for these hospital bills. Insert snark about crazy healthcare costs, except it's not funny.
Rock climbing. Song Yao plays damsel in distress for Qin Hao to catch her when she falls. Cringey baby voice. Nails on a chalkboard level. She dazzles him with her electric eyes and steals his necklace. Cute evil laughter. Oh wait, that's just her imagination.
Reality. She falls. He catches her. And drops her. Not smitten yet.

Jiang Nan Xuan has a brilliant plan to find the necklace girl. Phone is ringing off the hook with leads. Front page ad. Young, handsome, rich CEO looking for the girl he met back then on Yuzhou Island. Completed with a picture of WZQ Qin Hao in bed.
Qin Hao isn't happy with appearing this desperate for love. Why did JNX choose this photo? Simple answer. "Because you look handsome." Aww, the bromance.
Song Yao will pretend to be the girl he's looking for, make him fall for her the non-electric eyes way, then get the necklace.
School gymnasium. All the eligible and ineligible girls and grannies come for the selection. xD Song Yao aces the About Yuzhou Island test, but Qin Hao has crossed her off the list and kicks her out. He asks the remaining candidates the last question, "When I met you back then, what was the color of your skirt?"
Song Yao storms back in, calling him a liar, warning the other girls that he's just playing with their feelings. "It was windy that summer, only a fool would wear a skirt!"
Qin Hao is shocked by her correct answer. She declares that she is the girl he's looking for and exits triumphantly.
Whoops, they are actually Episode 1 Cheating Scumbag's men. Since he's no longer rich, she has no hold over him. Qin Hao literally flying kicks in to save the feisty damsel.
His forearm was sliced. Song Yao sweetly bandages it up for him. He learns that she is an avenger, not a gold digger. Sweet music plays. He watches her with new doting eyes. If he weren't so busy falling for her, he would know that this slash really needed stitches. Her neck was also scratched mildly. Song Yao reminds herself to wake up while her hero tenderly takes care of it.

Qin Hao picks her up for a date. He has an answer for all her escape excuses. She isn't dressed up, he takes her shopping. He picks out a low cut dress to see her necklace. Thinking he's a pervert, she avoids his attempts by pairing it under a black turtleneck. xD
Qin Hao has booked out a fancy restaurant, which unfortunately belongs to SSL's family. Qin Hao gets rid of the 3rd wheeler by snitching to his big bro. Both Qin Hao's and Song Yao's teams are in place to support Operation Necklace.

Qin Hao spots the necklace on a photo of a doll, which is located back on Yuzhou Island. He asks Song Yao to go with him. She agrees, plotting that he will reminisce childhood memories, making him bond with her more.
Qin Hao is hesitant knowing that he must deceive Song Yao to get to the doll. All the CPs are thinking of each other. Logic fail, Jiang Nan Xuan is using an egg for his bruised up face.

There are cute old drawings on the walls done by "YY" (Yao Yao) and "ZZ" (JCC's childhood nickname was Zhuan Zhuan).
At the top of the lighthouse, they enjoy the view. Or at least Song Yao does. Qin Hao is busy gazing at her and being mesmerized by her humming.
When she seems cold, he takes his jacket off and puts it on her shoulders. He's so attentive, no wonder Jiang Nan Xuan has a crush.
It's night time, only 2 hours left till the last ferry. Song Yao remembers how frightened she was alone when her mother had to work late. Then her mother... She doesn't tell him about the car accident. She smiles and recalls how the lighthouse gave her reassurance when it shone into her home. They go inside so she can get something. The doll with the necklace is in her room. She holds it as we flash back to sobbing young Song Yao being informed about her mother's car accident. She doesn't have another adult to take her to the hospital. She is alone.
But she doesn't feel lonely anymore. Qin Hao also understands how painful it feels to open the door and not see his mother there. This is so sad. She falls asleep on the couch. Qin Hao doesn't want to leave her alone for that last ferry, he will catch one in the morning. JNX texts him, reminding him not to give up all that they worked for. Qin Hao is resolute, he must find out the truth.

[Ep5] At the last minute, Qin Hao arrives at the CEO ceremony with the seal pendant. Yay! He has all the moola now. Boo! The mega rich guy is no longer immune to Song Yao's electric eyes. Upon waking up, she learned that he had "borrowed" her necklace pendant. She realizes:
- She had the necklace all along.
- He is an imposter, not JCC.
- He lied and used her to get the necklace.
She is fuming mad, gets on a teleporter, and storms into the CEO press conference. When she is about to announce that Qin Hao is a fake JCC, her electric eyes take over. Dazed, Qin Hao kisses her... Stopping her from disclosing anything. Oops, these eyes have terrible/awesome timing. Yay! He's no longer immune to Song Yao's electric eyes.

Reporters flash the cameras. Qin Hao is shocked at what he's doing. He drags her out of the conference. She's berating him for being an excellent actor, his ears ring, possessed, he leans in to kiss her again. He's able to stop himself and asks her what she did to him. Why does he keep wanting to kiss her? Song Yao realizes she has the upper hand now. She flips him around and interrogates him.
Song Yao: Who are you?Qin Hao, trying to resist her power, looking like he is about to fail. He turns his head away from her: I'm.... Ji Cheng Chuan
At a stoplight, Qin Hao, breathless, flashes back to her chewing him out. Completely bewildered and breathless.

When Qin Hao was bewitched by her eyes, there was no cosplay version of her. He only saw Song Yao, his ideal type.
Back at the hangout, Team Song Yao's failure has the debt collectors coming. Bestie SSS and Techie Gu think of what they can sell to raise money. They tell Song Yao that they have discovered that Fake JCC is actually Qin Hao, who was living abroad for 15 years and just returned to China a couple of months ago. That faker Qin Hao has absorbed all of JCC's history, even saying that he was in a fire and lost his memory to get some pity. What?!? How was this so easy to discover?
Bestie SSS: Who does he think he is? Dumbledore's bird? 🐓 Able to rise from the ashes???
LOL. What a random analogy. Spud saves that for future use.
Qin Hao returns to his Bat Cave. He has won the CEO position but looks like he has lost the world. He stares unflinchingly at Song Yao's picture. Finance Jiang holds it up, Qin Hao's eyes follow it like how I eye the last piece of tiramisu at a party. Oops, Spud is embarrassing herself. Just like Qin Hao.
Team Hao is confused by him. He is much more lost than them. Every time he sees her, his heart races. Finance Jiang squeals. Could this be love? Qin Hao coldly asks how that is possible. Song Ling Ren gives him the check he told her to prepare for Song Yao's mom's hospital expenses.
Impressed, Jiang Nan Xuan exclaims: Qin Hao, you're acting more like a domineering CEO. Using money to solve your problems. 🤣 Drama wall broken.
It's his small gesture to apologize to Song Yao for taking her necklace.
Chairman Ji's brother-in-law from his 2nd wife wants to hire Song Yao to spy on "JCC" for him. She hesitates, but when Jiang comes with the check for her mother's expenses, she is upset that Qin Hao thinks he cut ties with her that way. Jiang is a terrible negotiator. All insurance salesman tactic. Bestie SSS chases him for that.
Song Yao marches out to Qin Hao, who has been safely waiting in the car. He tenses up as she puts the check back in his jacket. Taking off her sunglasses, she tells him that since the press thinks they are dating, let's make it real. Her eyes are completely in control as she "confesses" to him. His gasping, someone save me, reactions each time she lobs a flirty gesture are hilarious.

Team Hao are shocked... several beats later... they realized their friend was just snatched... "Aye ya!" "Yao Yao!!!" XD
In the car, Song Yao thinking that he wants revenge for betrayal, she nervously and hilariously tries to negotiate. He evil smiles at her cuteness and speeds along. She has $1183 dollars in her bank account she can give him. She can help him make his enemy suffer. His wish is her command.

Song Yao isn't going to take this. She gongs her team awake. If she can't electric eyes him, she will force him her way. She shows them what she's got. She whips out her phone, in an overly sweetly coy voice, she sends the most threatening of all text messages.
"Lao Gong. Since everything is done and settled between us, let's choose an auspicious day to meet each other. I think tomorrow afternoon is a good day. Bringmy contract alongme what I want. Then we can sit and have a discussion."
She seals with an air kiss to really show her might. Team Yao is bewildered and disgusted. 🤢🫣

His hands are busy and he gestures wildly in slow-mo that he can't... Bestie SSS even slower-mo dives to catch it and tears it up before she hits the ground. She really missed her calling as an NFL receiver.

Qin Hao easily rips off the straps and informs her it wasn't the contract that Bestie destroyed, but an insurance plan that JNX bought. She leaves to fight another day. Qin Hao is amused.

For her, that day was just an emergency and didn't mean anything. She adjusts his glasses, compliments his fading tattoo, and leaves him falling deeper in love with her.
Song Yao found a bicycle. She circles around Qin Hao, taunting him. "Mr Ji is a big CEO. He has to walk, now? The city is so far. What is the saying? The evil we reap...."
She falls. Of course. Qin Hao winces. He slowly meanders over to her. She looks pitiful. He reaches down, she scoffs that she doesn't need his kindness. Hmpf! He picks up only the bicycle and finishes her quote.
Qin Hao: The saying is, "You reap what you sow."
With a cute, cocky smile he walks away from her. Song Yao angrily yells his name. He turns back to look at her. At this very moment, in a lovely bank far away, his money is transferred back to him. OH NO/YES!!! Electric eyes music rocks out. 🎸

Qin Hao gives her a dress to change into for dinner at the Ji Residence. After brief resistance, she changes and finds ways to block her electric eyes. It would be super awkward if she seduces every rich guy there. With difficulty, she puts on contacts.
Qin Hao waits for her in the living room, Techie Gu still exercising, bouncing up and down, counting off as our BGM. How ridiculously realistic. There's always the weird roommate around. Song Yao comes out, teary eyed.

BIL corners Song Yao, reminding her of their previous spy contract. She's not afraid of his blackmail. She thanks him for introducing JCC to her and exits grandly. Dang, now it's Liang Jingyi's turn to harass her. Why do these CEO rom-coms always have such obsessive stalkers? Qin Hao arrives to stop her from slapping Song Yao.
In the car, Qin Hao grumbles at her for saying she would divorce him. She shrugs, she wasn't trying to cause trouble. He tells her that she needs to move in with him tomorrow. Uh, nope. She isn't going to do that. They bicker and she makes him pull over. She gets out and demands that he gets out of her sight. He drives away, which her face tells us she wasn't actually expecting him to comply. Qin Hao, you really don't know women.
After escaping his room, SSL finds Song Yao at the bus stop. Qin Hao is waiting in the car. He bets that Song Yao will call him back within 3 min. So cutely petulant. Song Yao ignores SSL. One of his initials must mean "stalker" to her. Qin Hao checks his watch. "Five more minutes. No, 8 more." Song Yao gets on the bus and tells SSL not to follow her. But she has forgotten her phone.

They face off. SSL refuses to leave Song Yao alone, he wants to get close, real close, really close to her. Um, except, it's Qin Hao that he is breathing on right now. Our CEO can't handle this type of weirdness and leaves.

She's pensive. Qin Hao quietly worries to himself. Did he cross a line? He hopes she isn't actually mad. He's about to give up on her moving in, but then she suddenly agrees. She has seen the logic of his ways, or actually, her opportunity to steal back the contract. Qin Hao looks away to conceal his glee.
Our tricky CEO has to make us her swoon first. He takes her into the bathroom and gently blow dries her hair. It's a sweet sort of apology. Ergonomically, might have been better if they were sitting down. Hair drying takes a long time.

He runs down, grabs a nearby fire extinguisher (poor guy must have dozens around) and puts out the fire.
He's gasping. PTSD attack at its maximum. He runs into the basement, choking on the smoke and memories. He tries to open his pill bottle, but his shaky hands are useless. He collapses. Song Yao is able to come inside and she rushes to give him water for the pills. She sees his crime wall and files on the table and brings him upstairs.
Song Yao lays him on the couch. As she walks away to respond to Besties's very annoying text bombardment, he holds onto the tips of her fingers. He looks so pitiful. She sits with him, his head in her lap, holding his hand and stroking his hair.
Night time. he finally wakes up. Yao Yao is beautifully asleep next to him. He picks her up and she wakes up in his arms. Phew, I worry about them going up those death stairs like that. Spud is not a fan of this design. Concerned, she asks about him. He looks at her gratefully and thanks her. He's so in love. Lady almost burned down his house.

Team Yao takes their position at Joseph's hotel. Song Yao goes to his room and threatens him with his infidelity pictures. He needs to work with Qin Hao or else she will give these to his wife. Oh, that woman at dinner wasn't his wife, but actually his mistress. Joseph laughs at her threats, his wife already knows about this. He locks the room and is about to attack Song Yao. She kicks him, runs out to the balcony and climbs outside it. Not our plucky heroine's best moment.
Way down below, Qin Hao, who is also here to secure a new business deal, sees his wife scaling the building. Panicked, he races back inside. Song Yao has actually made it over to the next balcony and runs out that room. As she gets to the elevator, the doors open with Qin Hao, relieved to see her. Techie Gu and Bestie SSS jump in to devour their instant noodle cups. Techie Gu was sweet to his new boyfriend, he gave SSL the best flavor. Our uber rich guy has obviously never eaten the addictive delicacy of noodles and seasoning packets. He's amazed by the undoubtedly near Michelin flavor. This gives me the warmth and joy of watching a baby take their first steps. He must take a selfie. "Experiencing Life". His "handsome" face falls when he sees Qin Hao's post. How dare he enslave Song Yao and make her cook for him?

Team guiltily rush Yao Yao off to check the pipe. Qin Hao and SSL verbally spar. Qin Hao wins. "Besides leeching off others, what can you do?"

In the car, he is chatting about how SSL seems to know about their contract and he will be able to handle it. Depressed sounding Yao Yao answers single-wordedly. Qin Hao notices something is wrong.

Qin Hao receives a random thank you message from SSL-Bro. XD Yao Yao is still acting coldly around him.
Qin Hao meets with the 3 department chairs that are suppose to help him with the Riyue Bay Resort Bid. There's a hothead older know-it-all, a nerd, and a level-headed, competent woman. Guess who is going to be a problem? 🙄
Qin Hao has another cold scene with Chairman Ji. There is some subtle underlying warmth. Father Ji is trying to give him advice. Before leaving, Qin Hao critiques his calligraphy. There are hints on smiles from both of them.
Qin Hao has to be at a pompous social gathering with Chairman Ji, his old friends, and current Riyue Bay Resort owner. JNX is worried that Qin Hao may reveal himself because all these people know young JCC. Song Yao said she was busy so he has to go solo. When he almost was about to reveal himself because he doesn't know Dou is a cat that only loves JCC, Song Yao comes to his rescue. Young JCC, "Nice to meet you. My father is a jerk. Mushrooms tastes like shoes. My cat, Dou Dou, only loves me."
Qin Hao thanks Yao Yao for rescuing him. She also wore contacts so that she doesn't electric eyes everyone. Qin Hao asks resort owner if he can take Yao Yao with him to the resort for the survey. Of course! Look at Qin Hao scoring a free vacation with his wife. Uncle-in-law tries to out Qin Hao again. He spills wine on him, pulls up Qin Hao's right sleeve, and exclaims that his scar is missing. Qin Hao pulls up is left sleeve. The scar was on that forearm, but now the huge burn covers it. UIL calls 2nd Ji to confirm. Yep, the little bro did cause that scar on the left forearm. Qin Hao and Yao Yao leaves this lame party of accusations.
Yao Yao asks him if the people..... she pauses.... probably wanted to say "when you were younger".... at Chengtian always treated him this horribly.
Qin Hao: What? Are you heartbroken?
Yes, yes she is. Yao Yao would probably rage at anyone who hurts him. But she denies that she cares, it has nothing to do with her. He asks her to go to the resort with him, she declines. He says he needs her to help him. She's still pouty.
Her remix of eenie-meenie-minnie-mo-you-think-you-are -cool-but-you-are-crazy isn't helping her decide either. Qin Hao and JNX are waiting out in the car for her to come. JNX doesn't want to wait any longer.
JNX: Hao Hao... Spud snickers I have told you many times before. If a woman says "yes", it might not happen. If she says "no", it definitely isn't going to happen. You don't know women at all.
Qin Hao only needs to know 1 woman, he knows Yao Yao, and she is coming. And he's right. She does come but only to uphold the contract. Ice, lady.
Yao Yao yawns in the long car ride. She's dozing off and our guy sweetly sneaks a shoulder for her to lean on. But JNX doesn't have Hardy's driving talent. He slams on the brakes and ruins the moment.

In their resort room, the bed is decorated with rose pedals, honeymoon style. SSL comes in to rescue Song Yao. Do all WZQ's dramas not have locks on fancy hotel doors? Song Yao doesn't have to share a room with Qin Hao tonight. SSL will sacrifice his body. Slime ball! Oh, he means he will share the room with Qin Hao. Less icky? No, slime ball! Albeit a hilarious one!

It's another common worker walking into a super weird situation in a CEO rom com. XD Poor tour manager asks if he should come back so that SSL and Qin Hao finish their discussion. SSL rushes out, how can Qin Hao leave him there alone?
Qin Hao and SSL tour the facility. Perfunctory business comments. They reach a rock wall that is almost completed. Qin Hao is concerned that this doesn't seem to have enough safety measures. SSL challenges Qin Hao to bouldering. If Qin Hao wins, SSL will leave. Qin Hao wasn't going to be stupid, but then he becomes even dumber when Yao Yao arrives and SSL provokes him. The idiots take off their jackets, Qin Hao tosses his watch to the tour guide, and they ascend the wall in their dress shoes.

Yao Yao is frightened. About 3/4 th the way up, Qin Hao slips and falls. He was able to catch himself a few notches blow. SSL initially was concerned for him, seizing the opportunity to win, continues to sneer and climbs up. Qin Hao looks around, SSL is quite far ahead. To the left side is a harder part of the wall that goes even higher, but has contours. He catapults himself over and is able to barely grab the edge. It's ridiculous. Qin Hao = spider monkey 🕸️🐒.
SSL reaches the top and looks down victoriously.

SSL shows his bro his work on the project. Bro tells him to change the price because he got a copy of JCC's bid. SSL isn't about this underhanded commercial spying. He meets Qin Hao and lets him know that he has a mole. SSL is a good guy. He does mock Qin Hao a bit first. Qin Hao notes that he owes SSL one. Aww, I like equal, respectful rivalries.

Techie Gu found that the copier was indeed messed with. They narrow down the suspects. Nerd guy is in a relationship, has no time for cooperate espionage. Bestie SSS and Boss Song connect their details to figure that out. Now it's Qin Hao's turn. He will allow Techie Gu to use the account of the CEO to set a trap.
Home alone again, Yao Yao is immersed in her planning. Qin Hao is impressed by how meticulous she is. No wonder she almost ruins his plans. She says she isn't skilled as him, always playing them like a fiddle. He needs to repay the compliment by getting next to her ear and whispering flirtatiously. They are an equal match.
Qin Hao announces to the office that there is a traitor. They are all on strict surveillance. That's not going to cause panic. Chen gets a call from the spy and instructs them to keep working. He going to target Song Yao. He uses Liang Jingyi as his borrowed knife, sending her info that Yao Yao is the commercial spy. Liang Jingyi messages Qin Hao.
Qin Hao and Yao Yao recognize this borrowed knife ploy immediately. Yao Yao plans to "divide and conquer". Qin Hao will meet Liang Jingyi and pretend to be convinced by her, then getting her to come clean. But there is a problem. Song Yao laments that his acting is so bad, she's going to need to coach him immediately. She guarantees he will master it in 3-5 days. I didn't catch this eye roll. 😂
She will teach him Stanislavaki and Brecht's acting techniques. Google tells me they are polar opposites. I had a big chunky definition but deleted. You're welcome. 😜

He seems to have forgotten his lines. Watching from afar, Director Yao frets about this stage fright. "Say your lines!" Qin Hao gets up and starts walking away. Director Yao thinks he's trying to exit stage left this drama over.
Liang Jing Yi back hugs our stiff male lead. She blabbers some more that this is the truth, Song Yao is the mole.
Qin Hao: Stop. I don't want to face the truth.
Director Yao is amazed and impressed by his improv.
Yao Yao: Mr Qin, why don't you become an actor?
Director is ready to make her debut, but a walk-on interrupts. SSL barges in, chewing out Qin Hao for hurting Song Yao.
Who let this guy on the set? In the van, our surveillance is equally perplexed.
Boss Song: Is SSL.... The guest you guys invited?Techie Gu: I don't think we can afford him.
Both monetarily and consequence wise.
SSL: I caught you red handed. You almost kiss just now.

Picking up the communication device, he asks important mission details.

She tells him to stop messing with her acting mojo. I am amused by Techie Gu's reaction.

Her eyes seductively focused on him, she puts her hand on his shoulder then slowly strokes down to his hand. She pulls him in closer to whisper in his ear. "Now that our marriage is in shambles..." She pushes him back to triumphantly show off his stolen ring. Qin Hao, you lost this round. 🤣 Those stairs are creaky.

SSL is typing furiously at this computer. Inspirational music plays. His big bro is proud that he is working hard and so focused. He is up all night, determined to finish his project plan. Ah, completed.

Yao Yao marches in his office, ready to be Lin Pinru (heroine of "Home Temptation") back for revenge. She makes scene and Qin Hao drags her into his office. Blinds closed. The office with their ears unnecessarily pressed against the wall. The tantrum-ic sounds of destruction echo out. Even JNX looks truly concerned with their cosmic argument.

She compliments his acting again, saying that except for her, no one would know if he were angry or not. Did she forget that he's a con artist CEO?
Our guy tests her, suddenly he becomes pouty faced. He asks why SSL was at their house. He knocks over some books in "jealousy". She asks if he is truly angry but he doesn't answer. Yao Yao does an adorable "Don't be angry" dance. He can't suppress his smile and tells her to do it again. 😂 She knows he's tricking her but still played along. Cute.
Kang Liping approaches a "crying" Yao Yao and "slips" that she heard JCC saying "Good girl, I will be back later". Of course, Yao Yao isn't the "good girl". Yao Yao wants to use Kang Liping's surveillance app on JCC.
At home base, Techie Gu has installed a reverse tracking app on Qin Hao's phone to get evidence of Kang Liping's spying. Before leaving, Techie Gu gives Yao Yao a thumb drive he copied from Qin Hao's phone. With giddiness, he tells her to enjoy these files, they have special stuff about her.
Yao Yao debates if she should look at the files. Isn't this a breach of privacy? But her curiosity wins. Yes!

At Kaleidoscope apartment, Song Yao gives her “Best Actress” acceptance speech, thanking Team Yao for their support. The silly fun moment is broken by news of Qin Hao's loss and resignation. Yao Yao rushes to her man.
Qin Hao is being pestered by reporters wanting a statement, but they swamp to Yao Yao when she arrives. They bombard her with gossipy queries. Are they getting divorced because he lost the bet? Was there a pre-nup? Is Yao Chuan fake? Qin Hao pulls his wife out, but then she stops and yanks her hand away. Reporters snap pictures of this brooding discord. Yao Yao answers them by grabbing Qin Hao's face and kissing him.

Yao Yao is relieved, but then upset that he didn't tell her earlier. And that she kissed him and showed him all her cards. Girl was ready to support him and make him her house husband. Embarrassed, she runs to Kaleidoscope, telling him not to follow her. His eyes don't listen. She looks back to make sure he doesn't obey.
After watching the news, Team Yao smirks at Yao Yao, teasing her that she immersed herself too deeply in the role and actually fell for the male lead. Yay Yao shocks/doesn't shock them when she confirms she has fallen for Qin Hao. But it can't be that easy. She says she needs to focus on her mom, she isn't ready for a relationship, and will leave him silently once the contract is over. Is she secretly worried that Qin Hao is only attracted to her because of her electric eyes?

Breakfast, glancing at Yao Yao's wedding ring, Qin hao could be eating Techie Gu's keyboard and still be this happy.
He's back to poor when he resigned, but the way he looks at her has always been complete love, progressively intensified with joy. Writer didn't need to hit us over the head that the electric eyes have no affect on him, it's obvious in his eyes.
Chairman Ji compliments Qin Hao for saving their butts with not winning the rotten Riyue project. He will nominate him for the Board of Directors. Qin Hao reveals Kang Liping as the corporate mole, Chen puts on a show and has people catch her. This drama has no police. Kang Liping sees that they are after her and runs away first.
Qin Hao sets up the carousel at the amusement park with letters that say, "Song Yao, I like you." He anxiously waits for her with a big bouquet of flowers.
She is still hesitant to meet him. Thinking about him wearing his wedding ring, she picks out this globe for him at a gift shop. I don't get this symbolism. Ah! I am slow, it took me till Episode 21 to understand this is from Le Petite Prince. All the details and symbolism makes sense now. So cool! Romantic and thought provoking.
As she approaches, she is tasered and kidnapped. Globe shatters on the ground. First time I have seen an abduction at an amusement park in a rom com. Qin Hao hears the loud noise, his worry is confirmed when the abductor sends him a text telling him to save his wife. He reaches a van and sees her unconscious inside, but he is also knocked out.
Before this, he had alerted Team Yao Chuan. They rush to Chairman Ji to let him know that Yao Yao and JCC are missing. Kang Liping kidnapped them in exchange for a "get out of jail free" card. Perfunctory "we need to work with the non-existent police" statement.
Cut back to Yao Yao and Qin Hao. They are still missing, but Kang jie is dead. A scruffy man in black garb dramatically leaves the scene.
Chairman Ji prepares the ransom money and note, but 2nd Ji comes in excited with the news that Kang Liping has been found dead. Uh, oh. That means no one knows where Yao Chuan are. Time to assist the police in this rescue.
Based on surveillance cameras, Team Yao Chuan figured out the rental van that Kang Liping used to transport the victims. They call and search every rental company to see if Kang Liping rented from them.
Yao Yao asks Qin Hao if he thinks they will die. He holds her hand to reassure her. He apologizes for putting them in this situation. "We're partners, it's ok", she replies. They joke that Techie Gu and Bestie SSS are probably high-tailing it out of the country. And JXN is already on a plane. They don't joke about Boss Song, they know she's too dependable.

The killer searches Kang Liping's bag. Her phone rings, it's the rental call alerting "her" about a traffic ticket near the pier. He thanks them. He now knows where Kang Liping stowed Qin Hao and Yao Yao. Sinister.
Night time again. Our CP are exhausted, freezing, and weak. You can see their breath with each word. Poor actors. Qin Hao tries to get Yao Yao to stay awake. Truth or Dare.

He hopes that the rescuers can see the smoke to locate them. Qin Hao. He goes PTSD as he sees the flames. He passes out on Yao Yao's lap. This awakens her and she holds him protectively. Smoke billows out of the shipping container. But none of the rescuers are in this area.
The killer is here. He sees the smoke and heads over. He misdirects JNX by pretending to be on the phone complaining about rats making noise in the opposite direction. SSL is alerted by his team that there may be activity in Qin Hao's area. Everyone races that way. But the killer is one step ahead. He gets his knife out. Tension builds.
Door opens. It's....

Hospital. Yao Yao wakes up, she rushes out to find Qin Hao. She didn't even have time to put on her shoes. Cuteness. He laughs at her and helps her put on slippers.

Yao Yao calls Qin Hao, who is at the company. She tells him about the argument. Things look like Chairman Ji is the culprit. Qin Hao and Yao Yao will go to the Ji family home to confirm the cuff link's ownership. This cuff link thing is quite flimsy.

It is horrifying to admit that a father can kill his wife that way. Yao Yao comforts Qin Hao. The clock strikes midnight. They wish each other a Happy New Year. Their problems momentarily fade, new year, new beginnings together. Sweet forehead kiss.
The next day, seeing her stressed out husband, Yao Yao asks him to go to the movies with her to relax him. Hopefully, Mr. Big Spoiler Colander doesn't know the ending. I couldn't ID the movie, looks like a comedy. Was wondering if it was Stephen Chow's. They are laughing and she is feeding him popcorn.

Chairman Ji feels that Song Ma looks familiar. He wants to go to the hospital to talk to her. Most likely because she is his in-law, but drama insinuates it is nefarious. Before he can meet her, someone calls him away for an important meeting.
Boss Song shows Qin Hao surveillance cam footage of the night Kang Liping died. Qin Hao spots a man dressed in black. He recognizes the birth mark on the hand of the killer as the same as the arsonist 15 years ago. They connect Kang Liping's killer with the arsonist and the "drunk driver" that hurt Song Ma. This guy has been busy. One more connection. JXN remembers that he was the port worker that mislead him away from the shipping container that trapped Yao Yao and Qin Hao.
Qin Hao realizes that this killer has been around them the whole time and that Yao Yao may be in imminent danger! He rushes to the hospital where Yao Yao has been visiting her mother.
Killer is at the hospital. Dressed as a nurse, he attacks Yao Yao, knocking mother and daughter unconscious. He uses is favorite killing method, lighting the room on fire. 🔥 Guy is not inconspicuous. Fire alarm, hospital panics. Qin Hao runs into the danger.
Qin Hao, despite his PTSD, is able to kick away the burning barriers and get to Yao Yao. He puts her in the bed and wheels her and her mother outside. The oxygen tank causes an explosion, knocking him to the ground when he made it out of the room. He sees the firefighters finally coming. Flash back to young JCC dying in the flames...
[Ep21] Father Ji's accident was fatal. The driver died and he is in critical care. JCC and Yao Yao wait outside the OR. JCC thinks about Father Ji's warm side. "Dad. I'm back". The Prince has returned. First time he called him "dad". 2nd Ji storms in the hospital. He pushes JCC against the wall and blames him for the car accident. All this bad luck is caused by JCC. He shouldn't treat him as an older brother. Ji Cheng An is tearful with worry. Very big brotherly, JCC reassures him that the police will find out if this is indeed an accident, if not, they will catch the culprit. Yeah. Right. Doctors come out. Father Ji is alive but things are precarious.
[Ep22] Ji Didi visits his father. Cue hi-jinks for Team Yao Chuan to meet him. Yao Yao dresses up as a nurse - why can't they let her dress up as doctor? Those exist these days. She shows him the listening device finding which indicates foul play by his uncle in his dad's accident. Oh no, Uncle Chen is on his way. Yao Yao has to hide. Ji Didi does want to believe that his uncle is responsible for this. Yao Yao gives him something as proof. Chen has his hand on the the door handle. Boss Song storms by and slaps Chen. Yeah! I love her! She makes a scene about him being responsible for JCC's death. Chen feels something is suspicious. He opens the door, only Ji Didi is there with unconscious Father Ji. Chen searches the room. He opens the bathroom door. Dramatic pause. No one is there. Yao Yao has escaped.
[Ep23] Yao Yao and JCC are standing opposite that door. Tears stream down JCC's face. Yao Yao is able to open the door but he is gone. She is left sobbing.
[Ep24] News reports that Chen Jing Hui will take over Chengtian Corporation because Ji Didi has resigned. Inauguration manana or demain (in French). See fancy Spud getting all book linking? Recap of 15's suicide/homicide. Chen reminisces 15, holding his lighter. He keeps it close to his heart in his breast pocket. This lighter is like looking up at the stars and seeing 15 scoff smile, "I quit long ago". It's very poetic, possibly used on the wrong CP, but better them than anyone else.

Qin Hao is on a stretcher, wheeled through the hospital halls. The feeling is surreal. He flashes back and forth from young JCC to young Qin Hao. In the flames, young JCC opens his eyes.

He remembers them playing soccer together. Father Ji talks to young JCC when he came that fateful day. Young JCC sees his parents arguing and father leaving. He pulls his sleeve to get him to stay, but is only left with the stag cuff link. Young Qin Hao asks Zhuang Zhuang why he's sad.
JCC: I'm envious of you. You're so happy every day.Qin Hao: Well, from now on, I'll share my happiness with you.

Young JCC's face lights up. These boys are so sweet. They play hide-in-seek together. We see Qin Hao counting and JCC getting into the cabinet. A reversal from all the previous memory flashbacks. After waiting for a long time, through the slits of the cabinet door, JCC is shocked by the sight of his mother being knocked to the ground. He covers his mouth in order not to scream. A man holding a crowbar in his hand looms outside. Young Qin Hao is also motionless. The killer sets the place on fire. Another blasts knocks sobbing young JCC unconscious.
Qin Hao is really Ji Cheng Chuan! Although, the clues have been present from the beginning and this was telegraphed, the reveal was really well done. Young JCC was solemn, while Young Qin Hao was sunny and happy. Our male lead was never carefree like him. The 2 boys became one. My heart hurts for the loss of young Qin Hao, innocent, pure, kind good friend. Also for JCC. The deaths of his mother and best friend traumatized this child so much that he suppressed himself and allowed his friend to live on.
Flashback continues. Qin Tian, who is Qin Hao's uncle, learns that Young JCC woke up thinking that he is Qin Hao. Qin Tian wants to protect him, adopts him and takes him abroad.
Sigh... The plot holes here. This is kidnapping. Why wouldn't the uncle return this boy to his father? He is just a kid that his nephew played with a couple of times. Doctors ok with abetting this? And where is Qin Ming in these flashbacks? Didn't he die in the fire too? Unfortunately, the answer may be in censorship. According to the script, Qin Ming worked for Lin Shu and he knew JCC well. There was no Qin Tian. When Qin Hao died, Qin Ming was distraught over the loss of his son and took JCC as a replacement. He also may have known that JCC was in danger because he suspected foul play with the fire. Still not cool, but more understandable. Abroad, the killer found Qin Ming and killed him via fire. This repetition lead Qin Hao/JCC to suspect the previous fire and brought him back to China to investigate. Not airtight, but a more reasonable logic. I wish they kept it.
Our male lead remembers everything. Ji Cheng Chuan wakes up and rushes to find Yao Yao. I will call him JCC now, but I grieve for Qin Hao. Yao Yao's eyes are wrapped in gauze. Unable to see, hearing his panicked voice, she calls his name, "Ji Cheng Chuan?" Our JCC is silent for a moment. It's the first time he has consciously acknowledged his true self. He is devastated for his wife and asks the doctor about her eyes. Fortunately, she will recover in a few days.
JCC: Does it hurt?Yao Yao, bravely so that he doesn't worry: You know how much trouble these eyes have been for me. It's probably better for me to be blind.JCC, blaming himself: Don't say that! It's my fault for not protecting you.Yao Yao: Then I must think of a way to punish you.JCC: I am all yours.Yao Yao: Then your punishment is you need to accompany me, Mr. Busy.

Gosh, I love this couple. So sweet and supportive. He apologizes. For what? For bringing her this trouble. And for being JCC. Sensing that something is wrong with him, she caresses his face and asks if he is alright. He's okay. His voice, she doesn't quite believe him, but he reassures her that he wouldn't lie to her. He's not lying, he's okay when he is with her. As she smiles, he remembers young Yao Yao. This beautiful quiet scene was full of emotional depth.

The drama is about letting go of pretenses, learning to trust, supporting each other. Back when Yao Yao first electric eyed him and he was able to resist her when she asked him who he was, he didn't know that he failed. Her electric eyes are able to reveal a man's true desires, but it also revealed his true self. He is Ji Cheng Chuan.
JCC tells JXN and Boss Song his real identity. Poor JXN, does this mean he can't call him "Hao Hao" now? I am going to cry. T_T I suppose he can call him "Zhuang Zhuang". Upside, they no longer need to worry about him being found out as fake JCC. But JCC feels responsible for Song Ma's accidents because it is linked to his family's craziness. Who is the mastermind? Ji Honglin. JCC's mother said he didn't deserve to be JCC's father. Should he tell Yao Yao about his identity?
JCC: I don't know. Whether it was 15 years ago, or now, she and her mother are innocent victims. They got hurt because of Ji Honglin.... And because of me.
No, no, no, JCC! Even if you feel guilty you can't keep this from Yao Yao. I don't like the direction of this plot.
JCC visits the cemetery. Here are the tombs of Lin Shu, "Ji Cheng Chuan", and Qin Ming. Flashback to uncle Qin Tian with young "Hao Hao" saying goodbye to them before going abroad. Present day JCC walks by this memory.

JCC apologizes to Mr. Qin for borrowing his son's identity and thanks him for raising him and keeping him alive. Whoops, the original script slipped through. He remembers everything and isn't afraid of fire anymore. He promises not to let Qin Ming and Qin Hao die in vain. Ji Hong Li has arrived. Terse father son moment. Father Ji is here to see Lin Shu and apologizes for what happened. He confesses to JCC that when he went to see his mother, he was going to ask her to remarry him. Well, it's not surprising she rejected him. Lady is strong, accepting him cheating and having another child is betraying herself. JCC angrily asks the ridiculous "Chairman Ji" if he really believes JCC knows nothing at the time of this "accident". Why doesn't Father Ji wonder why JCC has been missing for 15 years? Doesn't he think the fire is strange?

Suddenly, Father Ji's car is t-boned by the truck. His car is overturned, the wreckage deadly, his cell phone shows the last text message was sent to JCC. All it said was, "3".
Despite the plot's weaknesses, this episode was full of tension and emotional depth.

The assassin is tending to his shoulder wound from the accident. A knock on the door. He grabs his blade, ready to attack. A voice calls out, "Fifteen-ah". Cool, he has a name and it's short. Recapper heaven. It's Chen Jing Hui, evil jerk uncle. Any one surprised? What is surprising is his interactions with 15. He sees 15 struggling with the wound, sighs, and tells him that he will help him take care of it. He truly looks anguished about 15's injuries. He empathizes that it has been tough for him all these years.
15: It's all because they've stood in your way. You saved my life. I must repay you.
His voice sounds completely dubbed in at a later date. Wonder what was truly said. You want me to believe that Evil Chen saved someone? And because of that, he killed a handful of people, including an innocent child, for him? Folks, I am getting a BL vibe. Don't like the gay guys being psychopathic, but this is an interesting angle. Evil Chen has a warm side. Bad guys being 3 dimensional is always welcomed.

JCC is still at the hospital. He looks at the old fire photos. Yao Yao is worried that he has eaten all day. He rests his head on her shoulder and confesses, "I am tired." Aww, he's not afraid to show vulnerability in front of her.

She proposes for them to go back to Yuzhou Island to review the crime scene and ask the police again. JCC thinks it is useless, he's combed the site countless times. She tells him to trust her, perhaps she will find something. He nods and eats with her urging.
At Yuzhou Island, Yao Yao is at the fire scene. The officer who investigated back then is with her. He's not helpful. Surprise.
JCC and Boss Song can't figure out why Father Ji texts him "3". They are still investigating. Later Chen threatens JCC. Lighting the lighter, he insinuates that he is the mastermind behind Father Ji's accident and al the fires. He will hurt Yao Yao and her mother again if JCC doesn't resign. He even gives JCC a ticket to go abroad.
So Chen killed all those people so that his sister can be the 1st wife and for him to be a menial manager in the company? Does this make sense? He has been under Chairman Ji for 15 years, was that worth it?
Yao Yao has visions of young JCC and young Qin Hao playing together. She remembers her husband saying how he and JCC played together and how he hid in the cabinet. These images are very eerie. She opens the cabinet and finds a broken burnt watch inside. She is confused by this finding. Isn't this Zhuang Zhuang's watch?

Scenes of young JCC and Qin Hao flash by. Previously, we saw something fall when the explosion occurred when JCC was in the cabinet. It turns out to be the watch. Great detail. Yao Yao realizes the person in the cabinet wasn't Qin Hao, but JCC. Her husband is JCC! Aye. JCC you should have told her. She wants to call him but stops herself. Walking around the island, the old swing set is being dismantled. She remembers their time together. To the lighthouse. "Long, Long, Ago" plays. Memories of their wedding, the lighthouse, and how he confessed his love to her in the snow globe.
Yao Yao, smiles to herself: Ji Cheng Chuan. Now it's my turn to protect you.
If her mood seems off, that's because part of the script was deleted. But I am glad this part is gone, so I will gloss over her melancholy.
Bestie SSS calls her with news that JCC has resigned from the company and gave up his inheritance. He has been found out to be a fake. Yao Yao exclaims, but he's really JCC! She can prove it. She feels something must be forcing him. She calls him. Over and over. But he doesn't pick up. He's driving on a curvy mountain road. He tries to slow down but the brakes aren't working. The car swerves back and forth. Yao Yao runs to get off the island. JCC's car flies off the railing and crashes in the trees below.
Yao Yao gets another phone call. She is frozen.

News reports JCC's car crash and death. He was on his way to the airport. Cops are still investigating. The gang wait for Yao Yao to go to the cemetery. She looks at the abandoned snow globe in the back yard one more time. BGM is depressing, it's about lost love. (Don‘t Love Me) Each person places a flower on JCC's grave and say their last words. JXN's face is wet with tears. Bestie SSS scolds him for being irresponsible to leave Yao Yao. Techie Gu can't find any words except "rest in peace." Boss Song, crying, can also only tell her "Senior" to "rest in peace".
Yao Yao talks to him, saying that she went to his old home but couldn't find anything. However, she now knows that he is the real JCC. She wanted to tell him immediately, but she was afraid that he would know that his father was the mastermind and feel guilty. He has kept so many secrets, he must be tired now. Yao Yao goes through the motions of living. The planetarium calls. Her husband had bought a gift, it is ready for her to come pick up. She remembers their date, him being the perfect Instagram boyfriend, playing together, her admiring his nebula scar.
The gift is a star form the Andromeda Galaxy. It comes 2.2 million light-years away, it is one of the most distant stars visible to the naked eye. The piece replicates what it looks like after crossing galaxies and entering our atmosphere in a meteor shower burst.
Curator: Your husband hoped that it can realize your childhood dream.
Yao Yao remembers stargazing with JCC as a child at the lighthouse. She shows him her favorite star, Planet B612, the Little Prince lives there. JCC corrects her, that's Polaris. Our lady calls it B612, it is B612. JCC points to the star underneath it. It's Andromeda. Little Yao Yao declares Andromeda her favorite star now. It's because she is a princess like Andromeda and she hopes to encounter it one day.

It dawns on Yao Yao that JCC got his memory back a while ago. The card is the story of Le Petit Prince who lives on on Planet B612, which has 3 volcanoes that he tends. I have a serious gap in my childhood knowledge because I don't know this story. Amazon, take my money. Until then, based on synopsis, this is how I interpret it relating to our drama. Forgive me if I am really wrong.

The Little Prince fell in love with a spirited rose, he protected her by placing her in a globe to care for her. However, he felt that she was using him and vowed to leave Planet B612 to explore Earth. The Rose apologizes for failing to show that she loved him. She wishes him well on his journey and says she doesn't have to be in his globe anymore, she will try to take care of herself. He laments not knowing how to love her. After meeting many people, The Little Prince learns that his Rose was indeed special because she is the object of his love and that he had "tamed" her. "Tamed" means "to create ties", to need each other. He realizes he should have judged her by her actions, how she perfumed his planet and lit up his life, how he should have realized her tenderness underlying her silly pretensions. He wishes to go back to her.
A snake will allow him to leave Earth to go back to Planet B612. He tells his friend, the narrator, not to worry. His body would only look dead because it's too heavy to carry back to the planet. Narrator doesn't want him to leave. Consoling him, The Little Prince has a present for him. He says:
"When you look up at the sky at night, since I will be living on one of them, since I will be laughing on one of them, for you, it will be like all the stars are laughing. You'll have stars that can laugh"
The stars can laugh and he hopes that the narrator will always laugh when he looks at the stars. The Little Prince allows the snake to bite him. The narrator never finds his body but continues to search.
This is a children's story? 😭😭😭 When Yao Yao was reluctantly going to meet Qin Hao at the amusement park, she bought the snow globe, which has a little boy sitting admiring a flower, The Little Prince. It was her gift to apologize for failing to show that she loved him. But was it also to say good-bye to him? To tell him to explore the world, she doesn't want him to waste his time protecting her?

But then danger happened, she knew she can't lose him. He replicated the snow globe to say The Little Prince has returned to his Rose. She is his star, his home, his love, that he has always been looking for. He protects her, but she also protects him. Unfortunately, now The Little Prince is gone. Yao Yao sobs uncontrollably in the planetarium theater, surrounded by the stars, her Little Prince twinkling above. She has bottled up these emotions and finally they cascade out. A montage of their love story passes by. "I will protect you". I am teary eyed. 😢
Yao Yao is resolute in finding the culprit who caused JCC's death. Team Yao Chuan will help her. Their plan is to target Ji Didi.
Wow, now I am starting to recognize all the symbolism throughout the drama. Each time they are together, the BGM is a French melody. The opening OST also has a French vibe. The ending OST's lyrics "Tell me which star you come from...." Le Petit Prince is why Yao Yao lives in a florist shop, and JCC lives in a cave aka volcano like structure. She represents florals and life. Her toy doll was a Little Prince, his frog is a Prince. When she is upset, she tends to her plants, rejuvenating them. He is her plant, she energizes him and literally sprayed him with her water bottle when he asked her to move in. She serves him flowers to drink. He decorates her room with roses, floral perfume, dried flowers, abstract floral art, and a cozy flower blanket. At the airport, they broke up because he thought she betrayed him, like how the Prince felt about the Rose. He realizes her tenderness underlying her pretensions. She wanted to know when he would come home so that she can be excited when the time nears (Comment about "taming"). "One sees clearly only with the heart. Anything essential is invisible to the eyes". He waited for her with the largest bouquet of roses possible at the amusement park. Their morning after scene references when he met the Rose. When she moved into his home, she wore a rose colored coat, bringing life to his dreary, lonely existence.
Many of our supporting characters resemble the book's - SSL, JXN, Boss Song. Comment 1, 2. Even his disdain of mushrooms is from the book. Comment 3.
The story starts with the narrator showing an illustration. Adults see it as a "hat". Children see "a snake has eaten an elephant". Whimsical and dark metaphors of life. This drama is like it in that there is more than meets the eye. "The heart sees what the eyes can't". But hopefully, this drama will have a more uplifting ending. What else have I missed?
At home, Ji Didi looks at the old watch that he gave his ge. Yao Yao told him how much his big brother valued it. Memory flash back. Young Ji Didi sits alone at his new home. He is a mistress's son, an innocent boy, in a new environment.
Young JCC comes downstairs and asks him who he is and why he is in his house.
Ji Didi: My mom took me here. Are you the big brother she told me about?JCC nods: How about I give you a tour of my house?
Awwww.... Gosh, my heart really feels for Ji Didi and for JCC. JCC takes Didi's hand and explores the home with him.

Young JCC sits despondently as he listens to the mistress telling his father to divorce his mother. Didi brings a gift to his ge ge, the watch. JCC lashes out and throws it on the ground.

Poor little Didi's heart is broken and he runs away crying. I am crying too. I really feel for both boys. I am such a sucker for pitiful kids.
Present day Didi looks at the watch, eyes are red and glossy, he grips the watch tighter. This was quite well acted. The actor also looks like he can pass for WZQ's brother.
Yao Yao voiceover: JCC didn't lie to you. Even though it was broken, he still wore it because he said it was a gift from his brother.

Ji Didi calls Yao Yao. He will help them get evidence on Chen. Plan is for Ji Didi to switch out Chen's favorite pen for one with a tracker it in. Nervously, he does it. There is some tenderness in how Chen talks to his nephew, but is that all because he is a useful puppet?
Drama did plant the detail that Ji Didi cares about JCC early on. After all these years, he still remembered which arm he left a scar on his brother. He also marveled at his Da Ge's intelligence and business abilities.
Team Yao Chuan monitor Chen's activity for days, but the guy only goes from home to work back to home. No evidence yet. Everyone is exhausted. When it was JXN's duty to watch, he falls asleep at the monitor. He is awaken by an alarm. Luckily Techie Gu set an alarm if Chen goes out of his normal route. JXN is like, "Wait. Why did I have to stay up all night if you have an alarm?" 🤣 Double security.

Chen meets with 15. Team Yao Chuan rush to chase them. Again, the scene between Chen and 15 are warm and caring. When 15 asks who is the next target, Chen tells 15 that he doesn't have to "do this kind of thing anymore". He gives him a deed to property so that he can have his own life and hands him the favorite pen to sign. Team Yao Chuan have arrived and they run into the building to catch Chen and 15. Yao Yao presses the elevator button impatiently and when the doors open, she rushes on. 15 signs the papers.
15, dramatically holding up his beer can: The remaining mice are about to disappear.
A bomb is present. Every TV drama must include a clock countdown. Beer is dropped. Elevator falls and crashes! Workers rush in to save victims from the commotion. He and Chen look out the window. They are in another building nearby, able to see their destruction.
Chen knew that the pen was a tracker! He set up Team Yao Chuan!!! Wow, I was surprised by that. Drama blacks out. Slow pan.... The dust has not settled yet in the elevator shaft. Yao Yao is not on it! SSL is there with her. He had grabbed her off the elevator before she could get on. Double savior. He is a god!

| Why couldn't more than 1 character have super powers? |
Yao Yao asks SSL why he was there. He's fishy. Uh... "Telepathy?" Electric eyes are believable, but not telepathy. SSL claims that since JCC had his accident, he has been following them. Is this how she treats her savior? He warns her not to mess with Chen, the guy is too dangerous.
Yao Yao meets up with Ji Didi, who is "behaving as usual", hanging out at a mall. 15 thinks it is a good idea to attack him with pocket knife out in public. How is this guy an elusive murder for 15 years? A banner flies down to block the knife, minimizing Ji Didi's injuries. Look, there are cops! They look like the firemen in the other episode.
Yao Yao looks up. Wearing all black topped with a black cap, a familiar person had cut the banner down. He runs away, Yao Yao chases after him. they get to this door, she is unable to open it. Looking down, she sees the shadows of his feet.
Softly, unbelievably, Yao Yao asks: Ji Cheng Chuan?
Camera slowly pans to the other side of the door. His hand holding the door shut, our male lead is there.
Yao Yao: I understand. You're doing this to protect me. But do you know what? Compared to my safety... I'd rather you stay alive.

SSL names a bunch of Julius Caesars that he resembles. He's going to make my BFF work hard. "Mr. Dong Guo and the Wolf", "The Farmer and the Snake", "A Dog Biting Lyu Dongbin". I am learning so much literature from this drama. Bestie SSS kicks him in to shut him up.
Sniffling SSL tries to get out of this interrogation by reminding each of them his bribes gifts for them. Boss Song didn't get anything from him, but because she's dating Techie Gu, she has to yield by proxy. Yao Yao tells him that since JCC is dead anyways, she will continue to mess with Chen. SSL gives in, he will confess where JCC is.
Yuzhou Isalnd, JCC is stopped by the sight of Yao Yao waiting for him. Slowly, she approaches him. Then she sprints to him, faster and faster, finally reaching him... She gives him a big... SLAP.

JCC reluctantly explains that Chen kept threatening him with Yao Yao's safety. That is why he worked together with SSL to fake his death. I extremely dislike this plot device. It is out of character with their relationship of trust and partnership. *Well... Now I realized that this is out of character for JCC, but in character for The Little Prince. This parallels his death and how he told the narrator "his body would only look dead" but isn't. Apparently the cops approved this stunt too. Suspend that disbelief, folks. I am just going to laugh at these obviously add in voiceovers about the police.

He apologizes. He is pitiful when says Ji Didi was right for calling him a jinx. He recounts all the tragedies, witnessing he death of his mother and friend, his father's car accident, and his helplessness with all this. If anything were to happen to her, he would go crazy. He looks so sad, alright, I am going to move on from this plot device.
Yao Yao hugs him and reassures him that she isn't a fragile flower that needs his protection. Trust that she can go forward with him and they will end this nightmare together. Compared to find the truth, she is more important to him. Aww, when we first met him, he was singular minded in his quest, he has discovered worlds outside of that because of her. The Little Prince reference.
Chen visits Ji Didi in the hospital. Ji Didi tries to convince him to turn himself in. Chen does love this nephew. He's not going to give up his goals, he isn't mad at Ji Didi for placing a tracker in his pen, but he is disappointed in him. The cops are looking for 15.
15 meets Chen at the docks. Chen is upset that 15 attacked his nephew, no one authorized that. His anger dissipates when 15 shouts that he won't let anyone hurt Chen. I never expected this 4th CP. They break up, Chen hands him a bag to help him escape the country. 15's eyes glistens as he watches Chen walk away. Chen watches 15 leave on the boat. Sad music of longing.

Kusama club. JCC and SSL await the person that Father Ji was meeting. This person needed to meet in a crowded place because he was frightened by what happened to Father Ji. JCC is surprised to see Yao Yao also here. Yao Yao bidongs him next to Kusama pumpkin artwork. Callback to Episode 1. She points out their familiar location. He smirks at her flirting. Does he need a reminder? His eyebrows ⬆️. Slowly, she moves in to kiss him but stops. Total tease. He deserves that disappointment.

Holding hands, they sit back down at the couch. The rest of the gang approaches him menacingly with snark. Waiter JXN lost his boss, so he had no choice but to work for boss's wife. Over there, Techie Gu and Boss Song, who are looking hawt together, raise a glass to toast his undeadness. Waitress Bestie SSS roughly cleans the table, and scolds him for making her cry. This so dangerous. I feel like each Team Yao Chuan member is about to slap him. Deservedly. Maybe Spud isn't over it yet.
He cooperates and tells them his plans. His dad was going to meet with someone who knew about the fire 15 years ago. Everyone puts on their earpieces, JCC is back on the team when Yao Yao hands him one. Aww. They get in position.
When his father texted "3", it was actually swyping the name "Wan". Yao Yao runs back to JCC and hugs him. She saw Li Chen, the cheating scumbag from Episode 1 and her enemy. Parallels back to how JCC protected Yao Yao from him. Flirt time. Might be a bit out of place, but I don't mind.

Why did my subs fail and say "Miss Song"? I think they are still mad at him for faking his death. All is forgiven with this look.
Nervous mouse-like guy, Wan, shows up. Before JCC and Yao Yao can reach him, 15 hauls Wan away. Car chase ensues. SSL must love JCC, he gave him his red sports car for this.
Wan flashes back. He was the gas stove repair man who came to Lin Shu's house. He witnessed 15 killing her and Qin Hao. He even video recorded it with his cell phone. Chen was also present during these murders. So Wan, with this evidence in hand, decided to keep quiet for 15 years? Yeah, I don't have much sympathy for him in the next scene.
15 is cornered at the edge of a cliff. He takes Wan out of the car and holds him at knifepoint. 15 tells JCC that he killed many people because of JCC. 15 asks Wan why he would show up now after 15 years of hiding. Yeah, really, why? 15 admits all his crimes. Isn't that sweet? He's trying to protect his lover Chen. 🤮 Actually, it would be if we weren't talking about mass murders. 15 suicides/homicides and jumps off he cliff with Wan.
Team Yao Chuan gather for SSL's grand finding. He's so proud. XD. He has Kusama club's video surveillance. Wan put the thumb drive which likely contained the incriminating fire cell phone video into Li Chen's pocket. Scumbag Li Chen, instead of turning this evidence into the police, wants Song Yao to meet him for it at the inauguration. Why doesn't the gang call the police? Just because he told them not to. 🙄
At Yuzhou Island, JCC packs a big wad of rope for the inauguration. He isn't afraid of being exposed, he has to go get the evidence from Li Chen. Yao Yao offers to go on his behalf. JCC disagrees, it's too dangerous, Li Chen hates her. Yao Yao tells him to trust her abilities and reminds him that today the day their 1 year marriage contract expires. He smiles but then winces. She has drugged him. Falling unconscious, he pleads for her not to go. "Don't go..."
I don't like this part either. They are partners! I suppose it fair since he did fake his death. Moving on...
Yao Yao: You've been protecting me all this time. Now, it's my turn to protect you.
She gently kiss his cheek. Sunrise, she marches to the inauguration. BGM is very one ranger Western. It's peppy, but I don't agree with the plot direction. Chen's men won't let Yao Yao in, but because she is here as SSL's secretary, they must yield.
Team Yao Chuan also take their spots. Bestie SSS poses as an aide to take the arriving Li Chen to the elevator. JXN takes the hand-off for them to go to another conference room. Yao Yao and Boss Song switch places in the restroom so that Chen Jing Hui's men follows Boss Song, allowing Yao Yao to meet with Li Chen. Techie Gu provides surveillance.
JCC wakes up. On the table is their marriage contract. The duration has been changed to "indefinite". Cute. Remembering the danger, he rushes off. Don't worry, Yao Yao still has her teleport machine available for him.
Before going on stage, Chen's men inform him that Song Yao has eluded them. He tells them to kill her and Team Yao Chen. Uh, Mr. Henchman, does your pension cover this? Li Chen refuses to give her the evidence. He still holds a grudge, of course. Time is running out, Chen's men are banging on conference room door. Each member of Team Yao Chuan + SSL is surrounded. Techie Gu, via earpiece, tells her she must leave now. JCC shows up (thanks teleporter!) and takes his earpiece. He will buy her 10 more minutes. Aww, he is confident in her.
JCC runs up on stage. Crowd is shocked. After all, he is a ghost to them. These Chengtian press conferences are so entertaining. 1st time Yao Yao interrupts and the CEO kisses her. Now the dead CEO comes back. I would scalp these tickets.
JCC holds Chen Jing Hui at knife point and drags him to the rooftop. They threaten each other on the edge. Chen dares JCC to kill him, JCC would be the same type of person as him. JCC trusts Yao Yao. Failure of dialog. Book expresses how The Snake and the Little Prince are similar in suffering loneliness. "It is lonely with people too". What JCC means is that he is no longer lonely, he has Yao Yao. Trust is important, but it is how she fill this void that would make Chen envious. Chen laughs at JCC. How can he believe Li Chen would hand over the evidence to Song Yao, the one he despises most? At this moment, Chen's men are knocking down that conference room door. None of them will be able to escape. Police arrive at the rooftop. Hey, they do exist! Chen smirks victoriously. In front of the police, Chen is a victim, held hostage at knife point. Cockily, he struts towards his saviors but is shocked when they handcuff him.
Yao Yao comes up to the rooftop. Slow-mo. She runs towards JCC and embraces him.
Yao Yao: I made it.
JCC never had a doubt in his mind. Flashback, Li Chen gave her the evidence when he learned off hand that she was the one who got him shared custody of his daughter.
Police give JCC a deep scolding for holding Chen Jing Hui hostage. Don't try this at home, folks. Only break the law if you're on TV and look as cute as JCC.
Yao Yao: Ji Cheng Chuan, thank you for trusting me.JCC: Thank you too for believing in me in the end.
These lines are superfluous and kinda meh compared to the deeper meaning of the rest of the drama. I blame the business story, that part really drag down the plot.

Obligatory, "please let us pass the censorship review" part. It's ridiculously hilarious what dramas have to do. Black-screen explanation. Police told JCC to fake his death and warned him not to act recklessly at conferences again. So no more kissing and knife play?
It's Lantern Festival, our gang is kneading dough, each person wants to make their regional traditional treats. I want to come! JXN is from Dong bei (dumplings), Gu Zi Jun Hebei (yuan xiao), Bestie SSS Zhejiang (tangyuan), and Boss Song is from Hakka with her stuffed tofu. Huh? She clarifies, Hakka tradition in Guang dong. XD Spud is very detailed when it comes to food.
Uhh.... They realize this is going to take forever to make all this food. Yao Yao and JCC have returned home with take out of all the delicacies. Smart. I think JCC was worried that their cooking is as good as Yao Yao's. Santa Claus comes to wish them a Happy New Year! SSL brought gifts and couldn't believe that they started without him. He's 3 hours late!
SSL: That's right. Sky God can't come early. If people want to see him, they must wait.

Back to business. JCC arrives to the company all boss domineering CEO like. A new day for the company. Everyone warmly greets him with respect. He sits at the head of the table. Boss Song asks if they can start the meeting. JCC looks at an empty chair towards the end of the table.
JCC: Let's wait. My didi isn't here yet.
Aww... Ji Didi comes in carrying a huge stack of projects. He cutely apologizes. JCC gives his didi a reassuring and affectionate smile. Ji Didi responds like an adorable shy fangurl. JCC nods that they can start. "Everyone (the most important person, his Didi) is here".

Episode 7: When Qin Hao was going to leave Yao Yao but had to go back and pick her up onto the bicycle. Seeing her sneeze he takes off his jacket for her (Hey! He's shielding his Rose). He's cold himself, but "seeing her cold feels worse". The contrast of the ultimate romantic line with how he grumbled it. 😂 Then their confused faces as he peddles her back home. First time I noticed the French BGM.
Episode 24: Last scene. "The loveliest and saddest landscape in the world...."

She opens her eyes surrounded by stars, the Andromeda galaxy, by love from JCC. He hopes that they will be together forever. She agrees and they kiss.

Writer Song Yao puts the finishing touches on her web novel. After it seems like forever, she finally gets a phone call from her publisher. She excited asks him if he gets all the elements of her story. They meet and Song Yao sees the critiques from readers. Very valid ones questioning how the plot can have so many coincidences. She meets the ML at a club, he's her target, and her childhood friend? Marriage licenses aren't that quick. And basically, where are the police? Kidnapping, fire, car accident, fake death... Isn't that too much? And the "experts", like law students, weigh in. Hey, private investigations are understandable, but still illegal.
Song Yao is crestfallen. Publisher advises her to get more real life experiences in order to write better. She agrees that she had oversimplified the plots. Yeah, there were some craters. Publisher cheers her up. He shows her the positive comments. Fans thought Yao Chuan were so cute, smart, and supportive of each other. They were surprised that typical Ba Zong story can turn into suspense, action, and detective with many twists. The CP was sweet yet heart-wrenching.
Publisher says they have decided to publish her novel. Her face lights up. She has to improve it, now that she knows its faults. He tells her that they hired a new editor who knows about this genre and can help her. Eeee... We know where this is heading. Publisher leaves.
After a moment, the door slides open.
"Hello, are you Song Yao?"
Yao Yao looks up and seems taken about by this sunny cutie. He even sounds younger. Drama used WZQ's real voice here. She simply nods.

[First Impression (Ep1-7)]
A slow start with a 🙄 censorship friendly story set up. The electric eyes are silly, until they hilariously affect the right target. Drama may be attempting too many themes; romance, comedy, mystery, fantasy, suspense... But when our CP start falling for each other in Episode 3, I am invested in this romance. Their sweet quiet moments block out the noisy elements. Perfect enemies and perfect partners, I want to see them fight together.
The witty, comedic moments also have me rolling. The supporting characters are fun, colorful and not intrusive. Business part is bland and superficial, but his identity may be the most interesting. I am giddy for the marriage hi-jinks coming.
