生逢其時 brings together a Romance in the Alley reunion. Guan Xiao Tong and Guo Xiao Dong reunite after playing daughter and father in RitA. Yan Ni, mother in RitA, isn't here, but her real-life daughter Yuan Qing is. The two dramas also share a similar neighbourhood/family-compound setup, with two families living right next to each other.

Our main leads have a connection too. Guan Xiao Tong and Wang Zi Qi were real college classmates at the Beijing Film Academy. They started school on September 3, 2016. Exactly ten years later, this drama about two classmates air.

Behind the camera, director Lin Yan previously helmed Island, She and Her Perfect Husband, and Professional Single. Screenwriter Qian Jing Jing's résumé is also varied with Reborn, Alliance, and Sweet Dreams. These are all very different dramas.
