美人余 (Měi Rén Yú) is from the directing duo behind The Epoch of Miyu, which scored a big win with this little hit. Now they're back with another drama about women navigating marriage fails curveballs.  Wu Hui Hui: also did well on his own with the small series: Where Colours Dream. Again, it's about the ladies.

Adapted from Yi Bei's 伊北 novel of the same title, 美人余. His specialty seems to be big family stories with romance on the side. The Vanishing Beauty appears to stray from his norm, though.

美人余 sounds exactly like mermaid (美人魚), except the last character changes from 魚 (yú), meaning fish, to 余 (yú), the FL's surname Yu. The meaning is Beauty, and what's left of it (typically after aging). Hence "The Vanishing Beauty."

Filming wrapped on this year (2026) on January 12th.
