Trivia
- *His real breakthrough came through films rather than dramas. He was already an established actor before I Am Nobody, although that drama became his biggest success on the television side. His early breakout film was Our Shining Days, and he later earned a Golden Horse Best Actor nomination for An Elephant Sitting Still, where he played a depressed high school student. The film had very limited funding, so the cast reportedly accepted modest/no pay. And its director, Hu Bo, tragically died by suicide shortly after completing it.

- His debut? A eunuch. Go Process Go! was a wildly comedic, unconventional series, so he was far from a traditional a eunuch.
- His fears? Everything + hair loss. He has appeared multiple times on Great Escape, where he gets so scared he ends up on his knees. This emoji is basically him: 🧎. He also constantly worries about his receding hairline, a common joke/concern in China.
And one time his hairpiece/clip actually came loose during a game. He ...might have a real concern there haha. And he's not even wearing those tight wigs!
- He confirmed his relationship with a non-celebrity in April 2020 after paparazzi photos circulated (that mistakenly identified her as Zhang Jing Yi, his co-star in Run for Young)
- There was also a billing controversy with The Last Wish (2019). His contract was signed as the #1 ML, but when posters came out, Wang Da Lu was listed first instead. Peng Yu Chang’s studio publicly protested and announced they were terminating cooperation with the production company. The company later apologized and claimed both actors had ML contracts, calling it a production coordination problem. What boosted Peng's reputation was how he handled it: his dispute was clearly directed at the production company, not his co-star, and he still fulfilled promotions dutifully so the film wouldn’t be affected. That combination – standing firm on contract fairness while remaining professional – made many people view him as principled rather than ego-driven.
