Remarks
[General Info] S2 Changes? Not much actually! It's the same director, same screenwriter. As for the actors, per the character posters, only 2 have been replaced: Lao Meng and Zhuge Qing (from Wanyan Luo Rong to Luo Zheng). Interesting Fact: Actors Wang Chuan Jun and Qi Xi are a married couple in real life.
[Ending] Happy + Feng Bao Bao mystery continues.
Review
Uniquely Entertaining
It’s hilarious, heartwarming, action-packed, and absurd – all at once. I didn’t sign up to get emotionally sucker-punched too, but they gave me a Chen Duo.

Sismance!

Characters & The Lovable Weirdos

Characters & The Lovable Weirdos
At its heart, the show thrives on its squad of misfits. They're so weird and so wholesome. Each one gets their time to shine, whether it’s in combat or the (fleeting) emotional moment like Hei Guan’s brush with death, Xiao Ge’s melodramatic flair, and Qiu’er’s short-lived bond with his shifu.

Zhang Chu Lan’s growth had me both proud and bewildered – like who is this mature, tactical man thinking 50 steps ahead? Or am I just forgetting Season 1? Either way, his transformation was a joy to watch. And his bond with Bao’er jie remains the show’s backbone.

Bao’er jie, our queen of outcasts, is the constant – she is the constant source of weird brilliance, and she is the constant that never changes, never disappoints, and always steals the spotlight.

Action, Meta-Humour, & Social Commentary

Even more impressive is how it balances eccentricity with grounded, heartfelt moments. It’s witty, meta, and self-aware, sneaking in sharp social commentary. Some examples:

Overall

The daughter and all her parents xD

Er Zhuang too! I think that's a tear in one eye.

Zhang Chu Lan trying to catch a Bao'er jie xD
Action, Meta-Humour, & Social Commentary
Impressive and exciting! Bringing anime-style choreography to life. And so creative (e.g. Zhang Chu Lan’s “pregnancy”)

Even more impressive is how it balances eccentricity with grounded, heartfelt moments. It’s witty, meta, and self-aware, sneaking in sharp social commentary. Some examples:
Zhang Chu Lan dragging Luo Zheng’s acting—savage but deserved. LOL

"Lao Qing, how do you even manage to stay in the film crew with such over-the-top acting?"
A group chat where everyone ghosts… until there’s free money (WeChat red pocket) to grab. Too accurate, lol.

Every single time they talk about 分寸 (appropriateness)

Wittily turning a common phrase 好樣的 (good job) to “I’m your dad”

Bai Shu’s imaginary superhero cameo: fitting, since the guy already plays xianxia roles for a living.

This actor was an internet celebrity (Back Dorm Boys)
Xiao Ge declaring, I’m a sicko, and I need sicko company.

Qiu'er criticizing patriarchal attitudes: "Such an outdated, toxic straight male cancerous thought" (that girls should dress like girls and then he offers a pair of heels to Bao'er jie, lol).

Overall
All in all, I had a lot of fun. The show does stumble hard when the core team is MIA (eps4-6 felt like a slog), but the emotional payoff, the team’s chaotic yet heartfelt bond and the very essence of Zhang Chu Lan and Bao’er jie redeem any missteps in between.
