Director Zhao Jin Tao has done a fair share of historical/fantasy romcoms that are light but not totally brainless: Cinderella Chef, Novoland: The Castle in the Sky 2, Dance of the Sky Empire, Heart of Loyalty, My Wife's Double Life, Destiny of Love. He’s also done modern rom-coms, including Love in Time, which also stars FL Xiang Han Zhi. His most popular drama though is probably The Fearless, which he co-directed.
