His rings for them. $$$ turned 90 degrees. XD! He is being thoughtful though.

Other Remarks

by FanFanX

[OST] The opening song is totally in English. The OST is so good for this series, yet I can’t find it. Sigh. Slowly updating?

[Ending] Happy.

[Pick a Highlight, Any Highlight] Ep11. When Jing Chen unzips her jacket.

A mood and aesthetic drama for me. The story isn't special, but it's healing, the romance is mellow, and the ambiance is warm. Drama, at times, feels magical. I definitely like the first half more.

Pros:
→ It’s short.
 They look good.
→  I always wanted to find a doting husband surrounded by puppies in the middle of nowhere

Improvements:
→  Could be even shorter.
→  Less confusing storytelling.
→  Better resolution for the ML’s trauma, please.

Random Recommendation: Meet Yourself

First Impression

I'm a Lu Yang Yang fan, so I generally want to watch anything with her. The general vibe of this series gives me hints of Meet Yourself and Jia Jia's Lovely Journey. Neither of which I have watched in full, and both of which I have read recaps/comments during live airings. lol So correct me if I'm off base here. The village setting and FL’s city background reminds me of the former, and this ML reminds me of a mashup of ML from both series. These two are going to be a good team/heal each other's wounds.

Final Review

This series started off well enough as the setting is gorgeous and the ambience is soothing. Si Qing is smarter than the average FL. Jing Chen appears a bit robotic but is actually more sensitive and kind-hearted than expected. Si Qing and Jing Chen are both lovely yet very lonely people, and together, they were bound to heal each other’s wounds. One can fall in love with Jing Chen's eyes, tender heart and exquisite meals. But the way they treated Jing Chen’s trauma really made me almost drop this drama.

Eps1-17 cover their budding romance, work issues, friendships, and complicated family relationships. And then it starts derailing - no, not veering off course slightly. We’ve spun around a couple of times and now it’s totally topsy-turvy. Our perspective on one specific character suddenly doesn’t matter, because we were all wrong. Spare me the self-sacrificing heroes. On the Jing-Chen-needs-to-be-fixed project: While I understand that he should overcome his past trauma, their approach and method has left a sour taste in my mouth and I’m still reeling from it. If one starts this series, I highly suggest getting through to Ep17 and then proceeding with caution for the remainder (or just skip ‘em). Ep20 is the ep that infuriates me the most.

The show likes to tell us the narrative through many flashbacks – and sometimes it can be quite misleading. I also think there were some poor editing choices made for this as some things don’t make sense at all, or utterly lacks any/all lead-up.

Lovely and relatable main CP ✔️
Oxygen-deprived 2FL ➖
Aggravating 2ML ➖
Silly best friends ✔️
Poor editing ➖
So many flashbacks ➖
Unnecessary secondary couple ➖
Beautiful music and scenery OST✔️

Overall, this series is more flawed than not. It started sweet and lovely but then it dipped and remained there for me. I stayed through to the end for the leads only. I doubt I would rewatch this one. It's a shame as I generally like Lu Yang Yang. And the only other gain is to keep tabs on newcomer, Chen Xin Hai. All of the puppies, kittens and gold dust in this world couldn't make this one whole again.
