[Cyn-opsis (Ep1-3)] Su Nian Qin is the mysterious songwriter Yi Jin. He is visually impaired. Sang Wu Yan is in her last year of university and is a huge fan of Yi Jin. She studies psychology, but more than psychology she's interested in radio broadcasts. She works part-time at a radio station. For her internship, she chooses to be a teacher assistant at a school for orphans. Su Nian Qin teaches there and she becomes his assistant. By Ep3, she has suspicions that Su Nian Qin is her idol, Yi Jin. He's also barely denying it.

[Ep2] Sang Wu Yan teaches the class to sing "Tinkle Twinkle Little Star", an off pitch one. Su Nian Qin plays the piano accompaniment and follows her awful pitch. Haha, he's mocking her and she can't even tell

[Ep4] Sang Wu Yan uses Su Nian Qin as her fake boyfriend in front of her best friend Xu Qian. Sang Wu Yan thinks that this will make Xu Qian feel less guilty and freely date Wei Hao. Su Nian Qin isn't quite following. Here's the backstory. Sang Wu Yan is best friends with Xu Qian and Wei Hao. One day, she caught them kissing. She's mad at them because they never told her they were dating when she's the one who introduced them. However, according to Wei Hao, it was a drunk accident. Xu Qian says the same (but it seems they like each other). And now all three of them are awkward. Sang Wu Yan is trying to fix this in spite of being angry. As she's recalling her story to Su Nian Qin, she cries. Sang Wu Yan gives her his handkerchief – for her mouth because he can "see" that it's dirty from eating. Nah, he hears her quiet sniffles.

At school, Su Nian Qin stops Sang Wu Yan from giving a little girl (Xiao Wei) all her favourite snacks. Giving the child a little warmth will only give her false hope. Su Nian Qin is speaking from personal experience. He is an orphan. His mother dropped him off at the orphanage and before he stepped foot inside, she was killed in a car accident right in front of him. The last thing his mother gave him was candy. This is why he doesn't like sweets. It has bitter memories.
After school, it's raining. Sang Wu Yan runs out with an umbrella to wait with Su Nian Qin until his manager (Yu Xiao Lu) comes to pick him up. Noticing his hand is wet, she returns his handkerchief. Their hands briefly touch. He notices ~ She pouts to herself that it's a pity she had to return the handkerchief so soon – there goes her chance to talk to him some more. The sound of the rain fills the silence. As he closes his eyes, she follows. She picks up on the scent of privet. He thought it was holly. She picks a leaf and shows him the difference by guiding his hand along the ridges of the leaf. Its edges are sawtooth-like. Just like the aloe vera she used on him when she accidentally poured hot water on his hand.

Yu Xiao Lu arrives and she asks Su Nian Qin why he's holding a leaf. He doesn't know why he kept it either and sets it free. Then he asks Yu Xiao Lu to visit his mother's grave. For some reason, he's reminded of his mother.
Cheng Yin, Sang Wu Yan's friend, notices her oddity when it comes to Su Nian Qin. Sang Wu Yan normally doesn't like psychology because it turns human beings into such complexity, but Su Nian Qin's complexity intrigues her. She doesn't know why either. When she sees him, she just wants to hug him and pat him. Cheng Yin congratulates her. It's over. Sang Wu Yan is in love.

Sang Wu Yan secretly draws Su Nian Qin's moody expression on a tangerine to give to him. Another teacher sees it and tells him about it. Su Nian Qin laughs! He keeps it but soon, it's gone. It's eaten and digested in Yu Xiao Lu's stomach. Su Nian Qin gloomily asks if she kept the skin. Huh? Why would she? Grumpy, he walks off and bumps into the piano chair. Ha! I would assume he's someone with an acute sense of spatial awareness, especially in his own home. How upset is he that his cute little angry-looking tangerine is gone? xD

[Ep5] Sang Wu Yan confirms Su Nian Qin is Yi Jin. She thanks him. It was his music that helped her move on from her friend's death in high school.

Sang Wu Yan and Su Nian Qin celebrate Xiao Wei's birthday. She sings happy birthday at all sorts of pitches. By the last line, Su Nian Qin cleanses her voice with his own singing. Haha. After the birthday event, Sang Wu Yan curiously asks him if Yu Xiao Lu is his girlfriend to which he says no. Since she asked him a question, she will give him a question in return if there's anything he's curious about. Blink blink. "Let's have you owe me for now." He says. He's curious about her ~

Sang Wu Yan, using her psychological expertise, analyses the tangled relationship between Wei Hao, Xu Qian, and herself. Sang Wu Yan admits to liking Wei Hao in the past (which she's dumbfounded at – how could she like such an idiot?). She also knows he liked her back. Wei Hao tries to speak, but Sang Wu Yan doesn't need his verification. She knows. She's the expert. She also knows that right now he likes Xu Qian and that their love is mutual. She lightly kicks him to get him moving: Go chase the girl you like!

Su Nian Qin jealously joins Sang Wu Yan's lunch with Wei Hao (he needs love advice on Xu Qian). Su Nian Qin is bothered by the fact that she chose to sit away from him. Despite that, he orders a warm lemonade for her after she exclaims how cold her drink is. She thought he ordered lemonade for himself, not recognizing this little action of his is the prelude to love.

[Ep6] Sang Wu Yan pretends to be Su Nian Qin's student (a kid) just to earn a praise from Su Nian Qin which is a pat on the head. I think it's cute how he notices she's kneeling right in front of him before she even makes a sound. When he doesn't reach out to pat her head, she takes his hand and does it for herself, aw. After the lesson, he's smiling to himself, recalling her cuteness, perhaps.

It's raining again. Instead of letting Sang Wu Yan wait with him, he agrees to let her take him to the nearest convenience store to buy an umbrella. The cashier asks Sang Wu Yan if she would like to buy towels along with the umbrella. Finding it odd, Su Nian Qin reaches out to touch her sleeve. It's drenched. In keeping him dry, Sang Wu Yan is soaked from head to toe. In a stern voice, he orders her to fetch the towels. Sang Wu Yan smiles but asks him to let go of her wrist first.
Sang Wu Yan dislikes the sunset because it means another day is over, and she hasn't finished what she's gotta do. Su Nian Qin laughs at her logic, and for the first time, she catches him smiling. Immediately, he straightens his expression, denying he ever emoted. Changing the topic, she asks him to join her at the amusement park with Xiao Wei. He says no. Sang Wu Yan leans in closer as she translates his 'no' to a 'yes'. He's about to reject but she intercepts that right now, she's really close to him. He's silenced. And so that means a 'yes'. Yes? Sure, whatever, lol. The next day, Sang Wu Yan is there at the park, giving his best I-hate-it-that-I-love-it-here look. Sang Wu Yan takes advantage and holds his hand just like how she's holding onto Xiao Wei's hand.

In the Ferris Wheel, Sang Wu Yan is aroused. She's tempted to kiss Su Nian Qin. She can do anything in an enclosed space with two visually impaired individuals, ha. As she approaches him, close enough to kiss him, he speaks(!): "This type of thing, mostly men initiate it, right?" Turns out, Su Nian Jin isn't totally blind. He can see movement within three feet and he could totally see her trying to take advantage of him.

Back at home, Su Nian Qin plays Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on his piano, or more like Sang Wu Yan's discordant version, aw!. Su Nian Qin doesn't realize this! Yu Xiao Lu remarks he must be happy, otherwise he can't possibly mess up and especially not a simple piece like Twinkle. Su Nian Qin, who's in denial of his own happiness, defiantly replies that he's just playing music to his heart's content, there's no right or wrong in music anyway. Bingo. His heart is playing to the tune of Sang Wu Yan~ Briskly, he walks away, and once again bumps his leg. Hehe.

[Ep7] Remember how Sang Wu Yan owes Su Nian Qin a response to any question? Well, here it is: "Do you like me?" So straightforward. Her answer is remarkably candid too: "Yes.” However, she struggles to answer his follow-up question: “What is there to like about me?” Disappointed at her hesitation, Su Nian Qin walks away without turning back.

It's Su Nian Qin's last lesson at the school. The teacher he's covering for is back. As a farewell present, Xiao Wei gives him candy, which is from Sang Wu Yan. Xiao Wei tells him that Sang Wu Yan knows it's a lie that he hates sweets. He asks Xiao Wei if Sang Wu Yan had mentioned anything else. This guy. He's curious about Sang Wu Yan but in front of the actual person, he ignores her. Sang Wu Yan only found out he was gone when he was gone. He just disappeared from her life.
Sawtooth-like plants; Sawtooth-like man
Sang Wu Yan anonymously vents on the radio station (because Su Nian Qin isn't picking up any of her calls).

Sang Wu Yan's message: "Let me tell you what I like about you. You really don't have much to like about (ha) except that you're handsome and smart (o-kay), but that's far from my ideal (o-kay). However, whenever I think of you, I start thinking that's how my ideal should be. You treat the kids gently but you're always mean to me. You can see through someone's emotions, but you always ignore mine. You're actually a soft and sensitive person but when you're in pain you don't make a sound. It's as if because of this, you think I can withstand (the pain of) you leaving too. Just because I couldn't answer that one question on the spot, you just disappeared from me. What a jerk. I still can't answer it but I want you to hear me yelling at you."

Su Nian Qin hears it ~ Either deliberately or out of habit, he's been listening to her station these days. He's finally ready to call her but he chickens out and chucks his phone away! Our girl, though, isn't the type to wait around ~ Sang Wu Yan calls him! Even if she's so sick that she can barely stay awake, she still wants to hear his voice. I LOVE her for phoning him. The poor boy looked so sad, crouching there and hating himself for not being able to reach out to her. He demands to know her address and somehow, he finds her place and is outside, repeatedly knocking. Since picking up her call, Su Nian Qin hasn't hung up on her. Their call duration is 30+ minutes, which also means it only took him 30 minutes to get to her place
Sang Wu Yan drags her aching body across the condo to open the door. She can barely stand but fixes her hair to at least look a little bit presentable. This gesture is sweet. She cherishes him so much that she would want to look her best in front of him when she can barely stand and when he can’t even see. Using the last of her energy, she opens the door and then completely loses balance. She faints on him. Resting his cheek and hand on her, he checks her temperature.

[Ep8] Su Nian Qin carries Sang Wu Yan to the hospital. Under her instruction, he makes his way down the stairs, but the lights turn off. It doesn't affect him. But it affects her. She's scared of the dark. As she tightens her grasp around his shoulders, he loses focus and slips down the steps. He keeps her safely in his embrace despite bumping his arm. When the taxi is here, she gets inside first but makes sure to keep her hand above his head so that he doesn't bump himself. Aw. The blind who's caring for the sick who's caring for the blind

Sang Wu Yan has measles. Su Nian Qin (who has had measles before) continues to take care of her and brings her home. He also tells Yu Xiao Lu to not come anymore. Why? Because she never had measles before. Sang Wu Yan is disappointed to hear such a logical reason. Su Nian Qin smirks – he can hear her disappointment.

After a long night of caring for Sang Wu Yan, Su Nian Qin is forced to face his feelings. Initially, he resisted lifting her to bed as if touching her could lead to something more but then he ends up caring for her the whole night until he caves in and carries her to bed. Right? Why let her sleep on the ground in this massive mansion. In the morning, Su Nian Qin cooks her breakfast – a very burnt sunny side up. I think it's a sunny side up.. He hides his injured hand from her, but Sang Wu Yan notices anyway. She also sees his dark circles. Did he not sleep well? Well, about that.

Sang Wu Yan notices something else. She asks where his medicine is. It's in the cupboard and as she's crouched down, searching for it, Su Nian Qin places his hand at the corners to protect her head. She's a little surprised, given she's the one who can see, not him. Embarrassed, he stands up to leave but then hits his own ahead. She calls him clumsy. He retorts: "Each time it's because of you." This is true! Ha

From the cupboards, Sang Wu Yan fetched antiseptic spray for Su Nian Qin. She noticed his arm is scratched up (from the fall on the stairs?). She tells him to sit down "over there". Sang Wu Yan whines (again), "Stop saying 'here' or 'there', I can't see where your hand is pointing so how would I know where!" Sang Wu Yan finds him so cute. He's opening up to her, isn't he? As she's tending to his injuries, he apologizes for ghosting her. Sang Wu Yan makes him repeat it once more and that's it, he's forgiven. She slaps him to tell him See, I'm that easy! But she slapped where she just applied the antiseptic. He flinches and asks if she should use the aloe vera. She's like Stop being so obsessed about the aloe vera. He's like Who says I'm obsessed? Boy, you are obsessed

At night Su Nian Qin has a nightmare of his mother's death. Sang Wu Yan is there to wake him up. She turns on the light and it seems he's back to sleep. She smiles at his sleeping face and leans in closer.

Su Nian Qin warns her with his eyes closed: I won't let a chance escape the second time.

He places his hand on the back of her head to pull her closer ~ Oh, but it's Sang Wu Yan who kisses him! His eyes fly open.

Sang Wu Yan: Did you think I would?
Su Nian Qin with a small smile: I don't think you should be like this.

Sang Wu Yan's mother had told her girls should be reserved. But she doesn't listen to that~ She kisses him again! Aw!
Su Nian Qin closes his eyes. Is he asleep? Quietly, Sang Wu Yan leaves, but Su Nian Qin pulls her arm back for another deeper kiss.  And another one.

Sang Wu Yan: The person I like is Su Nian Qin. The first time I saw him by the lakeside, I liked him.
Su Nian Qin: Why?
Sang Wu Yan: Again with the why! – she whispers by his ears – "love at first sight" (English)
Su Nian Qin laughs: The blind can't understand English
Sang Wu Yan: If you can't understand then why are you laughing?
She tickles him as punishment
Ah, so cute!

The next day, she opens up his curtains. He reiterates there's no difference whether it's closed or open. Sang Wu Yan explains that he may not be able to see the difference, but he can feel the sun's warmth. Su Nian Qin closes his eyes, simultaneously he holds on to her hand. Softly, he says "It's the heart of your palms that's warm, isn't it?" From his perspective, we see her, quite hazily but her features are there.

Yu Xiao Lu returns to Su Nian Qin's home, interrupting our lovebirds. Sang Wu Yan quickly jumps off the couch. Su Nian Qin properly introduces Yu Xiao Lu as his "relative's sister". Sang Wu Yan reaches out to give her a handshake but takes it back because she just recovered from measles. Yu Xiao Lu brushes it off. She had the vaccine. Sang Wu Yang's eyes dart to Su Nian Qin. Ah, it seems he wanted alone time with her in his house ~ Sang Wu Yan excuses herself. Su Nian Qin holds onto her hand, not wanting her to leave. She whispers that she'll be back. She's going back home to pack her stuff to live at his place.

Second Couple: Xu Qian likes Wei Hao but her family is complicated. Her mother leeches off of her for money. She can't choose her parents but she can choose who she loves. She doesn't want Wei Hao to share her burden. She's also giving up her love for radio broadcasting for a better paying job. She's the one who inspired Sang Wu Yan to pursue a radio broadcasting career, but she's the one dropping out. Additionally, she's a great singer. I wonder if she'll debut with Wei Hao's band. Btw, I like their song.

[Ep9] Sang Wu Yan is living with Su Nian Qin~  She makes Su Nian Qin his favourite lemon juice. He hates it but he can't tell her, ha

Sang Wu Yan and Su Nian Qin have a date. They're watching a horror movie together. She tells him all the details while hugging him. Then they take the subway back home but among the sardines, they lose each other. She loses him as the subway departs and he's still outside. Worriedly she gets off at the next station, and thankfully, he's still there and hasn't moved. Very calmly, he tells her if she ever loses him, he'll always be waiting at the same spot for her. Aww

Yu Xiao Lu asks why Sang Wu Yan isn't home. Su Nian Qin gives her the whole story, keeping every  unnecessary detail that he finds cute. Yu Xiao Lu teases him for being talkative these days.

Nie Xi is giving Sang Wu Yan a hard time at work at the radio station. It seems that Nie Xi likes Su Nian Qin.

Sang Wu Yan is back home with her parents to celebrate New Years. Late at night, she calls Su Nian Qin to ask him what he's up to. His reply: Not much but he's looking out the window with his curtains open in the middle of the night. Is he yearning for that sunlight warmth from Sang Wu Yan? Although they're not physically together, they spend the last of the year hearing each other's voice ~

Su Nan Qin is curious about Sang Wu Yan's appearance. She takes his hand and guides him through her features. Once he reaches her nose, Su Nian Qin's hands are operating on his own. She's startled he's touching her. His excuse: he needs to examine her to see if he wants a refund. All sales are final!

Sang Wu Yan is irritated from her mother's phone call. Mom wants her to be a professor of some sort and Sang Wu Yan hates it. After the call, Sang Wu Yan is clearly upset but Su Nian Qin fails to understand her emotions. Does he not hear her vexation?

[Ep10] Mom is against Sang Wu Yan dating Su Nian Qin – he's visually impaired and an orphan. Sang Wu Yan is just as stubborn as Mom. Neither are willing to take a step back. Unfortunately, before this problem settles, Dad has a stroke. Mom keeps this a secret from Sang Wu Yan.

There’s a cute (healing) date in this episode. Su Nian Qin solemnly realizes he needs to earn a lot more to support Sang Wu Yan who's apparently a big eater.

Su Nian Qin’s mother died on his birthday. His relationship with his father is estranged. By accident, Sang Wu Yan tells him of a picture in his home that he doesn’t seem to be aware of. It’s his family photo. There’s four people there: Su Nian Qin, Yu Xiao Lu, an unknown woman, and Dad. This picture was taken when Su Nian Qin was in high school. Su Nian Qin rips the picture in shreds.

[Ep11] Su Nian Qin’s family is like peeling an onion.
  • Yu Xiao Lu is his “aunt” because her older sister (Yu Wei Lan) married Su Nian Qin’s father.
  • Currently, his father has liver cancer. Su Nian Qin refuses to see him even if he’s dying. Yu Xiao Lu turns to Sang Wu Yan for help to convince Su Nian Qin but Sang Wu Yan is on Su Nian Qin’s side. His family wants to wipe away the past as if he was never abandoned but the fact is he was abandoned. If Su Nian Qin doesn’t want to see them, then Sang Wu Yan will respect that.
  • The shocker to Sang Wu Yan: she’s dating a man who’s rich to the point she can’t imagine. Su Nian Qin’s father is a CEO managing multiple companies: they sell oil and makeup. Why do I not like this combo
  • And finally Yu Wei Lan, the stepmom, is actually Su Nian Qin’s friend! So complicated.
Su Nian Qin and Sang Wu Yan argue over his family. He’s mad at her for not asking him (or maybe just anything related to his family makes him angry) and she’s mad that she did ask but he didn’t answer her. Furious, she leaves his home while he takes it out on his piano. He’s so loud, the neighbours are reporting him. He was going to be grumpy the whole night but then he finds Sang Wu Yan’s phone and purse. She left his home without them. Worriedly, he asks Lu Xiao Lu to drive him around the neighbourhood to search for Sang Wu Yan. When they find her, he asks Xiao Lu to slowly follow Sang Wu Yan until she reaches home. The angel of this drama: Lu Xiao Lu.

In the morning, Su Nian Qin picks up a phone call but it’s Sang Wu Yan’s phone and it’s her mother on the line. Mom directly tells him she disapproves of their relationship and despite her disapproval, Sang Wu Yan is determined to date him.

At the radio station, Sang Wu Yan has taken to recording audiobooks. She’s thinking of Su Nian Qin as she reads them – since he can’t watch movies, she wants him to experience her favourite movies in a different way.

[Ep12] Su Nian Qin (as Yi Jin) accepts an ad recording at a radio broadcasting station, the one Sang Wu Yan works at. He’s there to record one line but he’s obviously here to find Sang Wu Yan. As all the girls gather around him to ask for his autograph, Su Nian Qin ignores them; his heart is focused on any signs of Sang Wu Yan. Knowing she's sitting far away across the table, Su Nian Qin inconspicuously pushes Yu Xiao Lu’s wheely chair to Sang Wu Yan. This happens more than once, and Xiao Lu, fed up with being pushed around, darts from the awkward pair.

But our awkward pair is interrupted by Sang Wu Yan’s male coworker, who’s asking her for dinner. Su Nian Qin angrily sticks a note on Sang Wu Yan’s forehead. It's his autograph as Yi Jin, which is his way of calling her his. She asks him why he didn’t write his real name. His reply: his name has too many strokes that her brain is incapable of holding. More like it takes too long to write and he’s afraid she’ll be snatched away by then.

Our couple is back together ~ Su Nian Qin gives her a watch as a present – she knows it's his apology. Their relationship grows stronger as he openly asks her if she minds his eyes. She doesn't. She loves his eyes. They're pure and untainted. Her return question: why does he produce music? He smiles and tells her she already guessed it (their cute date in Ep10). Although he can't see this world, he wants the world to see him and yet not know who he is. To see isn't just using our eyes.

Su Nian Qin is influenced by Sang Wu Yan to appreciate Yu Xiao Lu. Sang Wu Yan had told him that, although she doesn’t like psychology at all, she can sacrifice four years of university for her parents who worked all their life to raise her up. It’s the least she can do. And so, Su Nian Qin cooks dinner for Yu Xiao Lu who always prepared food for him. Su Nian Qin is confident in cooking, after all, he fried an egg for Sang Wu Yan... lol. About that

On a trip with the children, Sang Wu Yan loses her recorder. She searches until sunset. Finally, she finds it in the garbage can. The recorder has the story she recorded for Su Nian Qin. Su Nian Qin tells her to give it to him. But the recorder is dirty, and so Sang Wu Yan tries her best to wipe it clean first. However, Su Nian Qin meant to give him her hand. He's cleaning her hand with his (expensive) clothes. Aw

At home, Su Nian Qin is listening to the recorded story. The ending is missing and he's left hanging. Sang Wu Yan grabs the book and reads the last few lines to him from the main character: "I think I need you." Sang Wu Yan explains the line: "It's not because I need you that I love you but that I love you so that I need you."

Su Nian Qin kisses her eyes: I think I need you (because I love you)

Second Couple: Yu Xiao Lu finds an agency that’s interested in signing Wei Hao's band. Unfortunately, Xu Qian chooses work over the band. The band misses their chance because Wei Hao won’t play without her. Fortunately, Yu Xiao Lu gives them a second chance because Xu Qian had pleaded with her.

[Ep13] Sang Wu Yan graduates. Su Nian Qin makes his way to her university with a single flower, and most importantly, looking primp and proper with that bowtie. Sang Wu Yan peeks around him, very disappointed there’s just one flower. I like how she can be disappointed all she wants without worrying it’ll offend him. I also like how when she ran to him, he could sense her. And I love it how when he reaches out to touch her, she lets him touch her hand

Sang Wu Yan celebrates with her friends, and Su Nian Qin joins for dinner. Afterwards, she’s drunk and realizes she lost her Privet flower (ah, that’s why he gave her this flower. I was thinking why choose a white flower. It’s when he fell in love with her, right? Under that privet tree). Sang Wu Yan whines that he only gave her one. Why so petty. But to him, she is this world’s only rose, and so he only gave her one flower.

Su Nian Qin goes for an eye checkup. He delayed it for so long that he missed the opportune moment to treat his eyes. And why does he want to treat his eyes now? For Sang Wu Yan.

It’s late at night, the electricity is out. Su Nian Qin was just on the topic of Sang Wu Yan's virtues and says she has quite many,  "For example, this area – touches her lips – is so kissable.” He kisses the kissable lips and then the electricity is back. And then he proposes! With a simple “Marry me.”  He doesn’t want a reply now. He just wants her to contemplate it. (To him, he never thought marriage would be in his future, but now he's in full anticipation for it).

Lu Xiao Lu tells Su Nian Qin that Dad signed papers to donate his eyes after he dies. Sang Wu Yan asks Su Nian Qin why he never treated his eyes when they were treatable. At first it was because his family was poor and they couldn’t afford it. But what about after? After his father was successful?

Su Nian Qin: Because I hold grudges.

He wants his father to always remember that he was abandoned. His father had wanted to treat him, but it was only for his reputation or atonement to his mother. Su Nian Qin cannot forgive him. He can't let go of his hate. Sang Wu Yan gives him a comforting back hug. Her message: it's okay to hate, but don't hurt yourself in the process.

Su Nian Qin phones Dad to tell him that he has someone he wants to marry and she wants to see him. Dad is like “Okay, hanging up now.” He’s actually happy. I see where Su Nian Qin inherited his personality from

Sang Wu Yan finally learns of her father's condition. She chooses to return to her family, and skip out on meeting Su Nian Qin’s dad. Her family needs her right now. Su Nian Qin misunderstands that her family is lying just because they're against their relationship. In his defence, he was already in a foul mood because of Yu Wei Lan’s visit. Sang Wu Yan can barely explain and then he angrily throws his phone, shattering their picture frame from her graduation. Sang Wu Yan is speechless at his sudden flare. She rolls her suitcase away but then he grabs her wrist.

Su Nian Qin: Stay. Unless you never want to come back – Flings her hand away –

Sang Wu Yan takes a deep breath to calm herself. In an even voice, she tells him they can marry right now.

Su Nian Qin: The blind doesn’t need your pity.
Sang Wu Yan: If you continue to be like this, I’ll very tired.

Sang Wu Yan leaves. Despite being angry, she updates Lu Xiao Yu so that she can care for Su Nian Qin.

Second Couple: Wei Hao and Xu Qian’s band put on a graduating performance for the school. After the concert, he asks her out on stage. Xu Qian accepts. The bad news: the management company they auditioned for doesn’t sign them. Sang Wu Yan tells them about an opportunity on her radio station. They’re having a program for youthful musicians.

[Ep14] Sang Wu Yan finds her father in the hospital. His speech is slurred but his message is clear: Dad is happy to see his daughter in love and all that matters to him is that she loves the person she chose and that she's happy. Sang Wu Yan wants to stay in the hospital to care for her father but Mom urges her to go home. Mom turns spiteful. She doesn't need Sang Wu Yan here. Dad will need help to urinate, does Sang Wu Yan know how? She's so busy chasing her dream, and her man, she doesn't need to care about her parents. Mom says they will be fine on their own. They can rely on their retirement funds. They won't need Sang Wu Yan.

Although Mom says all this, I understand her anger. I don't think Mom is the type to discriminate against disabilities or orphans, but when it comes to her own daughter's happiness, a mom can be selfish. Mom isn't the one in love with Su Nian Qin, how is she to see his merits other than his flaws? I also appreciate Mom's character because she could have broken up the couple by telling Sang Wu Yan about Dad's condition earlier, but Mom didn't. She may be harsh when she tells Sang Wu Yan to go home and rest, but from the way I hear it, Mom doesn't want to burden her daughter. Taking care of a patient is taxing. Mom knows. Our Mom is a loving one (with a sharp tongue). Sang Wu Yan was raised in a beautiful family.

Mom brings up a valid point. She raised her daughter with so much love and consideration. Now Sang Wu Yan chooses to be considerate to this man she loves but is this man considerate of her?

Su Nian Qin is reflecting. His automatic reaction to Sang Wu Yan's father being ill is that it must be a lie to separate them because that's how his father always lies. He's aware Sang Wu Yan's mother is against their relationship but in front of Sang Wu Yan, he pretends to be oblivious. In spite of knowing the sacrifice Sang Wu Yan is making to be him, he selfishly proposed to her. Su Nian Qin is aware of his shortcomings.

Su Nian Qin's father dies. Su Nian Qin never got to see him before he died. Oh wait, no. Dad is resuscitated. Su Nian Qin collapses because he refuses to eat. Yu Xiao Lu calls Sang Wu Yan for help. Her father had predicted the contents of her call and tells her to go to Su Nian Qin. Mom bitterly allows it too. Before Sang Wu Yan leaves, Dad smiles and tells her, "Be careful on your way there." Oof. I think I feel more torn and hurt and upset than Sang Wu Yan as she chooses to leave her father for Su Nian Qin

Su Nian Qin wakes up. He tells Yu Wei Lan that he forgives her. The moment his father's heart stopped beating, he felt fear. He realizes he regrets neglecting his father. It was Sang Wu Yan who taught him to let go of the past. Yu Wei Lan adds that he should apologize to Sang Wu Yan. Su Nian Qin refuses. There's nothing for him to apologize for. Although he misunderstood her parents, he knows they think he's a burden to Sang Wu Yan.

Sang Wu Yan overhears this. She's disappointed and hurt. He's not the only one in pain. His disability, his birth, none of those were an obstacle to her. It's his low self-esteem, his selfish desire to protect his ego. He places himself above others and drives daggers in the hearts of his loved ones. She thought she could endure his thorns but love shouldn't be this way.

Mom phones Wu Yan who's trying to hide her sobbing. Mom asks Wu Yan to relay an apology to Su Nian Qin. She admits to saying some harsh words to him. Wu Yan shakes her head. Mom said nothing wrong as she continues to pretend to be okay in the call with her mother. It's so rare in a drama, I am completely on the parent's side. Su Nian Qin messed up big time

Su Nian Qin rips his IV to chase her. He regrets everything. But Yu Xiao Lu informs him that his father will go into surgery soon. Su Nian Qin stays for his father.

[Ep15] Sang Wu Yan is drunk. She won't pick up any of her calls. However, it's mom calling. Her father is in critical condition. I had feared this would happen when Dad spoke to her before she left the room. It sounded like his last words. The next morning, Wei Hao tells her that her father passed away.

Meanwhile Su Nian Qin's father's surgery is successful. When he finds Sang Wu Yan, she had just received news of her father's death. Sang Wu Yan tells him she never wants to see him again. She runs back home as fast as she can. Dad is already gone. Mom ignores her and flings her arm away. Mom locks herself in her room to cry while Sang Wu Yan cries in front of her father's memorial tablet.

Sang Wu Yan completes her first radio broadcast for Wei Hao's band but then hands in her resignation letter to Nie Xi. Sang Wu Yan is going back home to take care of her mother.

Cheng Yin has a fear of elevators. Ah, that's why the place they're renting has no elevators. I see. Inevitably, the one time they had to take an elevator, it's out of power. Now we have a problem where Cheng Yin is scared of elevators and Sang Wu Yan is scared of the dark. They are somehow injured and hospitalized after this. But they're okay.

Su Nian Qin is reflecting. He knows it's his fault Sang Wu Yan couldn't see her father's last moments.  He decides to undergo his eye surgery.

[Ep16] Su Nian Qin wants to see Sang Wu Yan's world even though he might never see her again. He's rolled into surgery. The surgery was successful. He promises Dad that he'll take over the company. Dad is jolly, he's just not particularly showing it.

After Su Nian Qin 's eyes recover, he actively rediscovers memories of Sang Wu Yan. She had teased him about this picture that she really loves. Turns out it was a picture of him. Then he checks his closet to find the shirt she bought him. She had said it was his usual colour. It's pink. It also turns out, he doesn't have a single picture of Sang Wu Yan. And it also turns out, he’s born with CEO capabilities and is managing the company fine.

Yi Jin releases a new song and his last song "原來我很愛你" (Turns out I really love you). Drama's Chinese title. The lyrics are his love story with Sang Wu Yan. As Sang Wu Yan listens, she remembers Su Nian Qin had told her this:

"No matter where you lost me, I'll always be waiting at the day you left me. Only until you call my name will my time start again."

Sang Wu Yan and Su Nian Qin are both still wearing their watches. On Su Nian Qin's desk there's a single privet flower. Every night, he will listen to Sang Wu Yan's radio show.

Sang Wu Yan's mother has long forgiven Sang Wu Yan. She tells her daughter to go and do what she wants. Mom will be okay on her own. Aw. Sang Wu Yan packs her suitcase to rent with Cheng Yin to finish her master's at university. As she's packing, she finds her picture with Su Nian Qin. There's also a picture of Su Nian Qin's family that she fixed. The pictures are slipped between a book titled, "Love Psychology"

Oh wow. Do you guys notice the change in the ending song? Before it was dark, and now that Su Nian Qin has his vision, it's bright

Second Couple: They have a fight. Wei Hao lives for his dream. Xu Qian lives for reality. But then within 10 minutes of the drama, he finds a job and disbands the team. What is this jump. He's doing this for Xu Qian. Then 5 minutes later in the drama, Wei Hao isn't actually happy to be in the city. He wants to go back to their hometown and get married. Xu Qian doesn't want any of that. Ai-ya, girl, what do you want? She has family problems: her mother who leeches money, her grandmother who's sick. And so they break up.

[Ep17Second Couple: Xu Qian quits and moves back to her hometown. She visits Wei Hao in the middle of the night.

Wei Hao only has one question: Do you still want me?
Xu Qian’s “answer”: Are you not mad at me?

Of course he’s not. They’re going to kiss – nope – Sang Wu Yan spoils this moment.

The next day, Wei Hao wants to propose. Sang Wu Yan spoils this again, this time, by accident. Xu Qian overheard Sang Wu Yan’s conversation with grandma. Wei Hao doesn’t even have a plan ready but Xu Qian is already asking him if he really is proposing. He says yes.

Xu Qian: Okay. I’ll marry. LOL

Wei Hao’s parents accept all of Xu Qian. Marriage is a go.

Main Couple: It's been three years. Su Nian Qin always listens to Sang Wu Yan’s radio program at 11pm. It’s him who’s always suggesting Yi Jin’s song (原來我很愛你) but Sang Wu Yan never picks it. Today, she’s late and the substitute host picked the song for her. As they’re both listening to the song, they’re both hurting.

Sang Wu Yan goes on a blind date that Mom eagerly arranged. Afterwards, Sang Wu Yan tells Mom that the guy is “o-k”. Mom is like What does ‘o-k’ mean? Sang Wu Yan grits her teeth, “Of course it means not ok!” Haha. Wan Peng, lol.

Mom promises this last blind date will be the bomb. This guy is a lawyer; good specs, good height, good looks, everything, muah. However, before Sang Wu Qian meets him, she hears someone say “Mr. Su.” She turns around to check. In disbelief, it is Su Nian Qin. He walks by her, their hands are close enough to touch if she reaches out to him but she remains silent and motionless.

Then Sang Wu Yan’s blind date calls her “Ms. Sang.” Su Nian Qin stops in his tracks. His acuity to sound doesn’t fail him. He picks up Sang Wu Yan’s voice as well. With a perfectly smooth spin on his heels, he changes his direction and walks straight to Sang Wu Yan. He introduces himself as an “old friend” in front of Blinddate Guy. Then Sang Wu Yan introduces her Blinddate Guy as her boyfriend. Controlling himself, Su Nian Qin walks away but minutes later, his secretary asks Blinddate Guy if his boss (Su Nian Qin) can borrow his “girlfriend” for a bit. Sang Wu Yan apologizes to Blinddate Guy and excuses herself. She’s not seeing Su Nian Qin either. Hastily, she leaves the hotel without noticing a porter is about to hit her. Su Nian Qin zooms by to save her and that’s when she confirms he can see.

Su Nian Qin grows increasingly upset that not only does she not know he can see, she also doesn’t know he’s a CEO. He assures her he’s in her hometown for business and not for her. He’s doing fine without her. Whoosh. Dude, why blow your chance? Sang Wu Yan walks away from him. When he turns back to check on her, he sees her chucking his business card in the garbage can. Too bad he doesn’t see Sang Wu Yan coming back and fishing out the card from the trash, lol.
The drama’s official Weibo account released this photo to tell us to look for a detail. There are comments in that post that say:
  • 7253 means 衾爱我桑 qin ai wo sang = Qin loves my Sang
  • 8920 means 霸总愛你 ba chong ai ni = Overbearing boss loves you
  • Netizens... 8920 is still a little iffy, though.
A girl pesters Su Nian Qin for dinner. He agrees. The moment he’s alone with his secretary, he wants a new suit. He needs to rid that girl's perfume that’s all over his suit. He can’t stand another girl’s perfume, eh. However, dinner was cancelled before it was barely settled – he lost his MP3 at the hotel. He needs to find it. Pronto. It’s the MP3 from Sang Wu Yan.

[Ep18] Every employee searches for the lost MP3. It's found. I hate it when people (men or not) just stand there, hands in pocket, demanding others to do things for him, even if he's a CEO. As Su Nian Qin is listening to MP3, he spots her on the street with her eyes closed. She's listening to her surroundings, a habit she picked up from him. He follows her taxi home. She lives in a place with barely any streetlights. With her phone's flashlight waving around, she scurries home as quickly as she can. Su Nian Qin watches her until he sees a condo light up.

Sang Wu Yan learns the watch that Su Nian Qin gave her is a luxurious brand that not money can even buy.

Wei Hao tells Su Nian Qin that for the past few years, Sang Wu Yan hasn't been happy. Su Nian Qin knows. Actually, he knows everything about Sang Wu Yan. In the car, his driver turns on the radio and it's Sang Wu Yan filling in for another host. She's reading an unrequited love letter and sympathizes (or empathizes) with the sender.

Sang Wu Yan on the radio: Don't ever think you're not worthy. If you love [someone], then you have to say it out loud. A line I frequently say is ‘Perhaps I’m ugly, but what if the other person is blind?"

Su Nian Qin has a tiny smile. I swear. He orders his driver to take him to the closest KFC. It's the franchise they first ate at (even though it’s not his taste)

Everyone is telling Sang Wu Yan to look for Su Nian Qin because they know she still loves him. This includes Xu Qian and Cheng Yin. Cheng Yin reminds her that when her father passed away, Su Nian Qin's father was in critical condition too. And didn't she know when she dated him that Su Nian Qin is someone who lacks security? Realizing she wants to see him again, Sang Wu Yan finds Su Nian Qin's business card (our messy girl knows exactly which coat pocket to search, eh) and calls him. His secretary picks up and says she can meet Su Nian Qin but he's in a meeting right now. She may have to wait. Sang Wu Yan agrees to that.

Su Nian Qin is notified after his meeting that Sang Wu Yan is in his office. He forgoes dinner with his team to find her. Is she still there? Yes. She fell asleep waiting for him. Relief washes over him. He kneels down and whispers her name. She's deep asleep. He carries her to bed. Sleepily, she wraps her hand around his neck and calls his name. He lays her down on his bed, and with a finger he traces her features the way she had taught him. When he's at her lips, he pauses. He attempts to steal a kiss but stops himself. But only temporarily. He tilts her chin to kiss her.

Su Nian Qin's thoughts: So stealing a kiss was this feeling. No wonder you kept doing it.

He goes in for a second kiss but he jumps back as if angry from something. When Sang Wu Yan wakes up, Su Nian Qin is nowhere in sight. She finds her watch in the washroom and leaves. But the watch is Su Nian Qin's. It seems Su Nian Qin was angry because she wasn't wearing her watch. As he was looking for his watch, he found hers lying around. It’s confirmed, she was here to return her watch to cut off all contact with him.

Su Nian Qin calls her to ask for the watch back but he's like Oh I heard from my secretary that you were hereSays the kiss stealer. For the record, Sang Wu Yan never succeeded in stealing a kiss. She's like Oh, I, uh, was there to ask you when you're inviting me to your wedding? She regrets it the moment she says it.

Su Nian Qin: You really want me to marry someone else don't you?
Sang Wu Yan: No no no. Why would I hope that you'd marry someone else? And another instant regret, but a good one
Su Nian Qin sounding musical: Ohh. – he takes a few steps back to sit down leisurely, all his tension evaporates; he's even tapping his foot – Did you eat?
Sang Wu Yan: Yes...uh, no.
Su Nian Qin: So did you eat or not eat?
Sang Wu Yan: I ate, but I'm not full.
The perfect excuse for him to ask her for dinner (when they both ate already).

The dinner is awkward. Sang Wu Yan speaks first. She apologizes for her harsh words when they broke up. He accepts her apology. It's as simple as that. I think he’s copying her attitude from when he apologized to her the first time.

I both love and hate that Sun Nian Qin is the same. I hate it that he's still insecure and going in circles when he can just be direct. I love it that just because he's a CEO right now, it doesn't change his personality – he's still the same guy

[Ep19] Su Nian Qin accepting Sang Wu Yan's apology was out of her expectations because now she doesn’t know what her next steps are. When she's home, she notices there are lights all over her neighbourhood – a lot of lights ~

Nie Xi visits Sang Wu Yan and asks her if she regrets leaving. Sang Wu Yan says she did at that moment but reflecting back, she realizes this about herself:

"If I love then I will give my all. If I give my all, then I will never be afraid of losing."

Nie Xi smiles. She now knows that even if there wasn't Sang Wu Yan, Su Nian Qin's eyes will never look at her the same way he does at Sang Wu Yan.

Su Nian Qin has dinner planned tonight without telling his dinner partner the plans.... Well, Sang Wu Yan is off to dinner with her Blinddate Guy who is very interested in her. Su Nian Qin follows their car to dinner and tells her to come out in 5 seconds or he'll have the restaurant manager clear them out. When she's (forced) out, Su Nian Qin backs her to a wall and forcefully kisses her (bidong and everything). Sang Wu Yan isn’t pleased. She walks away from him but he stops her with a back hug. He knows he's wrong but he can't stand seeing her with another man. He's also not the type to easily love someone else, let alone forget the person he loves. Keeping her locked in his arms, he asks her if she heard his song and if she still hates him. Sang Wu Yan answers him calmly. She has heard his song but she never hated him. Loving is already so tiring, she doesn't have the energy to hate him.

Su Nian Qin's (overbearing CEO style) pursuit of Sang Wu Yan doesn’t cease. First, he wants his own watch back. And he reminds her anything he gives her is hers forever. Then he takes her to a banquet. She's dying to escape but he threatens he'll kiss her in public if she dares. While he's socializing, she hangs out at the fruit station. A man flirts with her. He says he means no harm. Sang Wu Yan clarifies she's not afraid of him, she's afraid she means harm to him, lol!. Then he's like Your dress is unique. She replies that It's regular street clothes, and I don't even know why I'm here. The logical conclusion is that she sneaked in here. Sang Wu Yan counters, "I came from the main entrance." I love her. This conversation turns meaningful when he reveals that Su Nian Qin has enough money to live for generations but he continues to work hard. It seems he wants to prove to everyone that he can do it too. Not everyone. I say just Sang Wu Yan. Nodding as if understanding, Sang Wu Yan leaves, but she brings down a table with her. Our CEO saves our humiliated Cinderella Sang Wu Yan. Su Nian Qin coolly walks in and tells everyone Sang Wu Yan is his fiancée. They've been engaged for three years. Sang Wu Yan has no recollection of this. Su Nian Qin tells her to recall the last words she said to him when they argued at his place.

Sang Wu Yan: 'If you continue to be like this, I'll be very tired' She's right, lol. This was the last sentence
Su Nian Qin is a tad annoyed (that she's right): The line before that.
Sang Wu Yan: 'When I'm back, then we can get our marriage licence if you're willing to' She remembers every word from three years ago and so does he
Su Nian Qin: I am willing.
Sang Wu Yan is confused: I'm not even proposing to you! I'm just repeating.

Su Nian Qin meant it. Although it's been three years, anything he has said has no expiration date. Sang Wu Yan reminds him that her words are true too: it's tiring being with him.

Su Nian Qin asks Wei Hao for help, but since Wei Hao was lectured by Sang Wu Yan, he’s reluctant. Yo, but our CEO reminds him he is a CEO and his CEO. Wei Hao bends over (with a bit of standard). He asks Su Nian Qin whether he wants Sang Wu Yan or his pride? Of course, it’s Sang Wu Yan. Well, dude, you gotta drop your pride.

At the radio station, Sang Wu Yan receives a letter. It's written on a privet leaf: "Sun for day; Moon for night; And you...forever." It's from Su Nian Qin~

Su Nian Qin's secretary reports that it's raining. Su Nian Qin zaps to Sang Wu Yan – without an umbrella.... He wants to share one with her? No, he wants to be her umbrella. Lol, I'm not really getting the point of going there without an umbrella. To carry her umbrella for her? But how'd he know she had an umbrella? Whatever. The point is he's dropping his pride

[Ep20] Su Nian Qin is pursuing Sang Wu Yan. He asks her to a movie, but she tells him she's busy tomorrow. It's her father's memorial day.

Su Nian Qin has more obstacles than just her father. There's Blinddate Guy and now there's even Rich Guy (the flirty guy from the banquet) who are both interested in Sang Wu Yan for different reasons. Blinddate Guy is serious. Rich Guy is a rascal who wants to make Su Nian Qin jealous. Rich Guy informs Su Nian Qian that Sang Wu Yan was in a car accident. It's minor but he makes it sound severe. Su Nian Qin searches all over the hospital and neighbourhood for her. He runs across the sidewalk, risking another car accident. Poor drivers. Can we not scare law-abiding drivers, please? In the middle of the crossroad, they hug. It's a romantic moment as light shines through our screen, touching upon our couple.

Sang Wu Yan consults with Cheng Yin on what to do. Su Nian Qin had told her she used to be so proactive. Even Sang Wu Yan had thought she changed but why is it that she still really likes a psycho like him.

Yu Xiao Lu visits Sang Wu Yan. Yu Xiao Lu is married! She says she married a "dull" professor. She tells her that there were countless nights Su Nian Qin relied on alcohol to sleep. He only recovers the next morning by listening to her MP3. There's more surprising news: from keeping her father's office the way it is to her late-night part time at the radio station, Su Nian Qin was behind it all. He also knew of her blinddates – all of them. So that day when he walked by her at the hotel, he recognized her! He is here in the city for her and not for business. If it wasn't because of her blinddates, he would have hid in the shadows forever. He feels guilty. And he's afraid. He's afraid to learn that she doesn't love him anymore. These three years, he worked hard to prove to her (and her mother) that he is worthy of her. Yu Xiao Lu calls Su Nian Qin a psycho too.

A very drunk Sang Wu Yan phones Su Nian Qin to yell at him for messing with her heart. He's in a middle of the dinner meeting but ignores everyone as he gets her to tell him her location. Su Nian Qin carries her back to his home. Sang Wu Yan is actually rather sober. She's just putting on a drunk act. Or I think she is. She wants him to never throw an angry fit at her and that his smile only belongs to her, in fact he only belongs to her. He promises everything, Su Nian Qin is Sang Wu Yan's and only Sang Wu Yan's and forever Sang Wu Yan's. Satisfied, she snuggles into his shoulder. She falls asleep and he kisses her hand.

[Ep21] Su Nian Qin comes out of the shower, expecting to see Sang Wu Yan sleeping on the bed, but she's missing. He searches the house and thankfully she's still there. She has a question for him.

Sang Wu Yan: I still love you. Do you love me?
Su Nian Qin kisses her forehead: Always (in English)

Su Nian Qin has to go back to the head office. He already delayed his schedule for Sang Wu Yan. But he wants a phone call from her everyday (at a specific time because he's a man with a very tight schedule). In the meantime, he sends her his playlist. Titles are: "You, Are Spring" "Turns Out I really Love You (by Yi Jin)", "Claire de Lune" "Follow Your Heart", "Meeting", "You, Are You Well"

Su Nian Qin joins Sang Wu Yan and her friends for dinner. He's still got that single privet flower for her. Sang Wu Yan shyly introduces him as her boyfriend but Su Nian Qin confidently introduces himself as her fiancé. After dinner, both Sang Wu Yan and Su Nian Qin are drunk. With no choice, she takes him back to her home.

He's drunk and asks for their picture. She says she doesn't have it here. She also confronts him of all the pictures he took of her. He clarifies that it was Yu Xiao Lu. He never saw the pictures. He was afraid that once he saw them, he wouldn't be able to restrain himself. This means he never recognized her at the hotel lobby. Actually. He did. He even rehearsed how to act in front of her but that went down the drain. But how did he recognize her when he never saw her pictures? Her voice and her scent. Other than sight, he knows everything about her. He lived everyday, thinking she was next to him; he lived like a psycho. Sang Wu Yan thinks he's a psycho too. What to do with this psycho who loves her so much? Kiss, of course.

The next morning, Mom wakes her up. Uh oh. They're in her mother's home. Mom opens the door to her room right when Su Nian Qin is changing into the new clothes Sang Wu Yan bought for him. The next scene: Su Nian Qin is kicked out of the house. Sang Wu Yan explains to Mom that he's her visually impaired boyfriend who's also an orphan. Mom isn't blind – that guy is not blind. Sang Wu Yan admits the story is a little complicated but she has only ever loved him. Overhearing through the door (like it's paper thin), Su Nian Qin marches in and bows to Mom, making Mom jump back, startled at the full bow. But Sang Wu Yan takes him out of the house again. Mom watches them through the window and already she’s smitten with Su Nian Qin’s looks. Ah. Sang Wu Yan's taste is inherited from Mom. Both fell for his looks
Later that night, they go on a movie date. She's in a matching sweater with him. The clothes she bought were couple sweaters. In the movie theatre, it's just them because he booked it all. Instead of watching the movie, he prefers watching her. She wants him to focus on the movie and that's when he's yawning and falling asleep.

[Ep22] Sang Wu Yan takes Su Nian Qin home to meet Mom. Before that, he proposes with a ring. Sang Wu Yan smiles, ready to accept – I mean decline, ha. She wants a better proposal than this casual one. Su Nian Qin attempts a second time in a kitchen, pft. The hotel was better. All he's doing is waving the ring in front of her face. She says she won't marry with a proposal like that. However, there is no 'No' in Su Nian Qin's dictionary. He slips the ring on her finger and kisses her. Sang Wu Yan is displeased. She pouts that she wants a redo. A redo? Okie-dokie. He kisses her again.

It's not just a meeting with Mom. Mom invited all her relatives. Sang Wu Yan gulps down water. But it's not that bad. Although the uncle forces him to drink, Sang Wu Yan jumps in, "Stop bullying my husband." Mom is very happy. Mom also takes Su Nian Qin to visit Dad's grave. I sorta wish there was a proper reconciliation between Mom and Su Nian Qin but I guess Mom just wants her daughter to be happy...?

Our new family of three, Su Nian Qin, Sang Wu Yan, and Mom have fun at karaoke. They sing Dad's favourite song. Su Nian Qin sings his best and then he passes the mic to the ladies. And omg, Sang Wu Yan's singing skills were inherited from Mom too! This was funny. Mom and daughter are cute

Su Nian Qin asks Wei Hao to invite Cheng Yin because he hasn't seen her. Wei Hao tells him Cheng Yin DIED. THREE YEARS AGO!! No wonder Ep15 was so weird! Omg now it all makes sense. Ah, that’s why Wei Hao said Sang Wu Yan lived terribly for the past three years. In the elevator, not only were they trapped for hours, Cheng Yin also had heart problems. For the past three years, Sang Wu Yan has been hallucinating Cheng Yin.

Sang Wu Yan is moving back with Su Nian Qin (in the city he works at). He makes her think that it's him who needs her to care for him when actually he wants to care for her. He's worried about her psychological health.

[Ep23] Su Nian Qin is at the hospital, consulting a psychiatrist of Sang Wu Yan's condition. Sang Wu Yan angrily welcomes him home. He's late. But a kiss from him is enough to make her smile again. She also cooked for him. He avoids that specific dish like it's poison. Now she's angry. He calls her back but she turns up the TV volume. He's like Don't you hear me calling you? Sang Wu Yan stands up on the couch to give herself that extra edge as she scoffs, "I'm not your pet."

Su Nian Qin: When did I ever treat you like a pet? [...] Be reasonable, alright? Since when was there ever such a cute pet?

He opens his arm for a hug (like she's a pet) and like a magnet, she finds her head attracted to his shoulders, haha. She's still grumpy, though. He insists he wanted to apologize. She counters that his tone was enough to eat her alive.

Su Nian Qin takes Sang Wu Yan home to see his family (or more like Yu Wei Lan asked to see her). Dad is just happy that there's someone willing to marry Su Nian Qin. Sang Wu Yan also motivates Su Nian Qin to pursue music again, just because he's busy with work, it doesn't mean he has to give up his love for music.

Sang Wu Yan graduates. Su Nian Qin is taking the photos for Mom and Sang Wu Yan. Girls who pass by Su Nian Qin give him an extra flirty look. Sang Wu Yan immediately turns grumpy, but beside her is an even grumpier Mom. Ha. Jealousy is obviously contagious. Su Nian Qin becomes jealous of the boys greeting Sang Wu Yan. Su Nian Qin fends them off by greeting his "wife" and his "mother-in-law". Mom is shocked. Su Nian Qin explains his plans were to marry after Sang Wu Yan's graduation. Mom is elated.

It's the marriage~ Sang Wu Yan closes her eyes to walk towards him. He tells her to not be nervous, just walk towards the light. Proud parents are in the audience. When it comes to the bouquet throw, Sang Wu Yan "accidentally" drops it into Nie Xi's hands.

The door shenanigan. After the marriage, Su Nian Qin is expecting a wife to receive him at the door whenever he's home. That's not quite in Sang Wu Yan's dictionary of married life. She's busy catching up her drama (to an awfully familiar sounding drama that I can't quite remember). When she's done with the episode, she realizes Su Nian Qin isn't in the house. He's still outside. In the same spot she left him. He wants a redo of her opening the door. Only then, will he come inside. Su Nian Qin has confirmed it. He will always be waiting in the same spot until she comes to him. This is what he meant all along xD.

The next night, Sang Wu Yan unlocks the door before Su Nian Qin is even home, but still, he's ringing the doorbell. Unamused, she pushes the door open and receives his forehead kiss with the grumpiest expression.

The next night, the doors are wide open. LOL. Su Nian Qin ignores the wide open doors and proceeds to ring the doorbell. With her hands on her waist, she's standing across the hallway. This doesn't stop him from ringing the doorbell. Sang Wu Yan gives up. She closes the door to open them again. Su Nian Qin goes on with his "Wu Yan, I'm home" But Sang Wu Yan is already on to the next routine: she presses her forehead on his lips, and takes his hand to pat her arm. Done!

Irritated, Sang Wu Yan calls Xu Qian to complain, "Is he from Japan? Must I bow my head every time and welcome him home?" Xu Qian laughs and suggests why not make him wait all night. Sang Wu Qian sighs that her heart will hurt for him that way because he will wait the whole night. Sang Wu Yan consults Yu Xiao Lu too. She says this is his way of showing he really loves her. The conclusion: unless they divorce, Sang Wu Yan will have to forever suffer this, haha.

[Ep24] Xu Nian Qin composes a song. He no longer wants to show it to the world. He only wants to show it to her and himself. Sang Wu Yan says that now it's hers, she has the rights to show it to whomever she wants. She's playing it on her radio show. The song is called "Meeting You". The drama's OST and their duet. I never knew Wan Peng had such a pretty singing voice. Xu Nian Qin, like always, listens to her radio station.

Alright, guys, Xu Nian Qin is home! Sang Wu Yan opens the door obediently. This is very suspicious. Turns out Xiao Jie is here (the boy with autism who Sang Wu Yan was taking care of). And this is the day Su Nian Qin is jealous of a little boy. However, the boys connect in their own ways. Sang Wu Yan realizes Su Nian Qin is better with children than she is (wasn't he always better?). She asks him if he prefers a boy or a girl. He says a girl because a boy will only fight with him for her love.

The door shenanigan solved! Sang Wu Yan is pregnant! Su Nian Qin cancels all his meetings to be back home with her. And this is the perfect solution to cure his welcome-home obsession. LOL. He's no longer just a husband wanting love for a wife. He's a soon-to-be-father.

Su Nian Qin is afraid their child will inherit his blindness. Sang Wu Yan comforts her that he'll still love their child just as much. There's another problem: it's exposed that Yi Jin is Su Nian Qin who is this CEO. This makes Snag Wu Yan worried and her pregnancy seems unstable. But it's all okay. She gives birth to a healthy daughter. Sang Wu Yan also had a dream where someone is saying goodbye to her. Is that Cheng Yin's voice? So Sang Wu Yan is healed?

Sang Wu Yan and Su Nian Qin go for a walk with their daughter. Sang Wu Yan plucks a privet leaf. Kiddo reminds mom that it's not right to pluck a tree. I had wondered if Su Nian Qin was thinking this when Sang Wu Yan did that in Ep4 because his expression wasn't very approving. Turns out, he did. Lol. Su Nian Qin is proud of his daughter because she's right. This upset Sang Wu Yan. Furthermore, Su Nian Qin is only holding his daughter's hand as they walk away. She runs up, intending to bite his arm. Smiling, he takes her hand in his and they continue their walk.

Sang Wu Yan: Tell me honestly, that time (the time she plucked the privet leaf), your heart moved for me, right?
Su Nian Qin: Right. I spent a long time deciding that I would permit myself to like you.
Sang Wu Yan: Permit?! Su Nain Qin, you really are...
Su Nian Qin: Wu Yan. Thank you. Thank you for changing me.
Sang Wu Yan: I didn't. I just helped you find yourself.

The end!

Remarks

[First Impression (Ep1-7)] Quite romantic, this one.

Our ML is visually impaired. However, I see this more as a romance between a man with an astute auditory sense and a girl who’s tone-deaf. Quite the match. He prefers his solitude until our FL introduces him to her world through ways other than sight: the beautiful sound of her discordant singing; the scent of privet; the tactile difference between privet, holly, and aloe vera; the taste of sweetness. She’s arousing all his senses, colouring his world, and warming his heart, how can he not fall in love with her?

And our girl is actively pursuing him. I adore all the times she’s shielding him from the rain. I also love that they’re equally caring. The guy just needs to learn to open up.

P.S. This is adapted from a novel that seems popular. Watching these episodes, I can see why.

[Review & Rating]
I find it funny how I can’t even avoid a CEO drama when my ML is a visually impaired songwriter. I thought I was pretty safe.

Anyway!

First half is romantic and scenic. I love the luscious green backdrop with the raindrops. The music embellishes the atmosphere. The romance gushes on screen and I get butterflies. A+ for chemistry (especially Ep8), A+ for mood, A+ for music.

Then there is the middle. I think there needs to be a warning. Our drama isn’t all sweet. I looked up the author (Mu Fu Sheng) and noticed she wrote Somewhere Only We Know (which I really like). Both have a very serious breakup phase. Personally, I don’t mind a drama taking a dive for the worse if 1) the breakup is convincing 2) it makes the redemption romance even better. I say drama scored high in both regards.

The one flaw I couldn’t ignore is Su Nian Qin’s overbearingness and selfishness. I had to remind myself that he’s insecure and he has a reason to be the way he is, but omfg you did not just force yourself on her and omfg did you just fling her wrist?? Bruh. I was really frustrated with this guy but ultimately, I chose to let it go. My love for this couple outweighs whatever crappy attitude lapse he had in the middle chunk of the drama.

I simply changed my focus onto admiring Sang Wu Yan, an angel saving broken souls (in spite of being broken as well). She’s my favourite character by far. I love how she treats Su Nian Qin like a normal guy, like a boyfriend. She wants to see a movie, so she takes him to a theatre – who cares if he’s blind and can’t see. Obviously that’s not the case, she cares, she’s at this ear telling him the contents of the movie. It’s just really cute and unique of her. Watching her brighten up his world was the biggest treat for me.

This is also one of the most appealing "opposite attracts" romances. Sang Wu Yan and Su Nian Qin are polar opposites. She is tone deaf and he is musically talented. She is afraid of the dark and he can only see the dark. He refuses to open his eyes to the world and so she opens his heart to her world.

Other than that one hurdle I couldn’t clear, for the most part, I highly enjoyed Crush. It’s worthy of praise for daring to be dark and it was dark with a compelling storyline. There’s also quite a bit of subtle details laden in the drama. For example the picture that Su Nian Qin ripped, Sang Wu Yan would secretly fix it; the playlist that Su Nian Qin compiled is filled with love songs clearly inspired by Sang Wu Yan; the privet leaf; the business card, etc. And I just cannot deny their chemistry. It is sweet and mellow, calming and romantic. There’s also a shocking twist in the story. Admittedly, this could be better in the second half but for what it is, I think this was a sweet one regardless.

P.S. If you have zero tolerance for overbearing CEOs this might not be the one for you.

Rating4/5
