This is a loose reimagining of Guo Jing Ming's Painted Skin, rather than a direct adaptation. It’s also widely recognized as a Guo Jing Ming project even though his name doesn’t appear plainly in the credits. On Douban, he has been known to use aliases. For Veil of Shadows, he is credited under Lu Jue (陸覺). This isn’t new: on My Journey to You, he was credited as Gu Xiao Sheng (顧曉聲)
One of the biggest incidents during production was the Hengdian fire. In March 2025, a fire broke out on set during filming, reportedly while shooting a bonfire scene. Fortunately, everyone was evacuated safely and no injuries were reported.
Ju Jing Yi’s transformation. Guo Jing Ming’s aesthetic is very different from Ju Jing Yi’s usual Ju-Jing-Yi-style, so fans are excited about this “new Ju Jing Yi”.
