[Ep1] Cong Rong is a lawyer and Wen Shao Qing is a doctor. Their first meeting is at the airport where they both help save an old man. She’s smitten with his appearance and heroism but he disappears soon after. Their second meeting is at a convenience store. His dog accidentally knocks over her food. Cong Rong’s friend (Zhou Cheng Cheng) tries to hook them up because he looks handsome so she makes him pay for their food. It’s a way to get his contact if he pays through WeChat but he insists on paying with cash and even has the exact change. It’s especially weird because in China barely anyone carries cash.
[Ep2] Cong Rong thinks this is an extra friendly welcoming embrace. Wen Shao Qing tells her his name but she doesn’t recall anything.
[Ep3] Rumours circulate the hospital that the girl who slept on Wen Shao Qing’s shoulder was Cong Rong. She wants him to settle the rumours and so he goes to admit the girl was indeed Cong Rong. Not just that, he tells everyone he secretly admired her for decades. Everyone laughs at the joke.
[Ep4] Poor Zhong Zhen has to witness another scene of Cong Rong and Wen Shao Qing together. He’s in her pink gown at night in her condo. Zhong Zhen doesn’t believe they’re dating. There’s no way her cousin would like him. Simply put, he’s too mean.
[Ep5] Wen Shao Qing is smitten with how kind Cong Rong is for taking care of the old man.
[Ep6] Wen Shao Qing moves in next door. After a talk with Zhou Cheng Cheng, Cong Rong thinks there’s a one percent chance he may like her. The next morning they randomly bump into each other and he has breakfast ready for her. Then he rides with her to work on the bus. She falls and he grabs her around the waist again. This is their fifth hug in six episodes.
[Ep8] Wen Shao Qing is off on a business trip. Zhong Zhen is a tad jealous he didn’t get a letter from Wen Shao Qing because he left a message for Cong Rong but it’s for her to take care of his dog (Rang Yi Rang). When he’s gone, she wonders if she actually does like him.
[Ep10] Mom is very supportive of Wen Shao Qing taking care of her daughter. However, Zhong Zhen looks stern. He who is normally afraid of Wen Shao Qing tells him to come out rather strictly. Once they’re alone, he does his best threat to Wen Shao Qing that he cannot hurt his cousin. Wen Shao Qing calls him silly. With that one sentence from Wen Shao Qing, all that braveness Zhong Zhen mustered melts away. Zhong Zhen is cute.

Mini Recaps
Their third meeting is at Wen Shao Qing’s hospital where Cong Rong becomes the intern lawyer responsible for any complaints against the hospital. It mostly involves mediation between patients and doctors. The first doctor she’s to resolve a complaint with is none other than Wen Shao Qing. He’s busy and has no time nor patience to deal with her. Frustrated, she asks him when he can talk to her. His answer: Unless you’re sick. Lol. Calling someone sick is an insult. I think he meant it literally and she took it offensively.
Cong Rong takes his advice and hence their fourth meeting, she’s his patient. He’s furious with her. She used up his precious time to see patients who actually need him. He writes her a prescription for brain defection.
Fifth time is the charm! They meet under this tree. This is the tree Wen Shao Qing and his childhood crush made a promise to meet again. All these years he has waited for her. When they were young, the girl saved him from bullies. That has made him love her all these twenty or so years. Cong Rong is here to apologize to him and that’s when he finally learns her name. He softly brushed her hair to see the scar on her forehead to confirm. She is his Cong Rong. Swiftly, he pulls her into an embrace.
Wen Shao Qing discovers his resident, Zhong Zhen, is Cong Rong’s cousin and that Cong Rong is renting his (Wen) condo. In a very roundabout way he manages to learn she’s not dating anyone.
Cong Rong complains to Zhou Cheng Cheng about Wen Shao Qing. Her friend advises her to not live so seriously. “Those who live seriously live a tiring life.” I typed this paragraph just for this line. So true.
Wen Shao Qing shows up at Cong Rong’s doorstep when she needs help with her electricity. She also accidentally hugs him thinking he’s her cousin. He makes her add him on WeChat but it’s her turn to refuse him. He tempts her with his apology letter (to settle the patient complaint). She adds him and thus he continues to tempt her with the letter that he never writes. He makes her run with him in the morning and eat with him at lunch. He also buys her sneakers for the run which she belatedly learns from her friend it’s limited edition.
Cong Rong waits for him at night to finish his surgery and falls asleep in the waiting from. Wen Shao Qing sits next to her and moves her head to his shoulder. He did that when he was a kid too.
Second Couple: Zhou Cheng Cheng hogs the space in front of Wen Rang’s bookstore for her hungry customers. Wen Rang is Wen Shao Qing’s uncle.
Zhou Cheng Cheng discovers her parents have been buying her customers. Her restaurant isn’t actually famous and the food actually sucks. (It was at her restaurant, Wen Shao Qing learns Cong Rong can’t take spicy. He thought she could because she ate spicy food to get rid of his bullies. Now he knows she was pretending to be strong.)
Zhou Cheng Cheng drinks alone. Her boyfriend hangs up on her by pretending he has terrible signal. She’s drunk and brings down an entire wall. She lands in the store next door which is Wen Rang’s. Cong Rong picks her up. Wen Shao Qing drives her there. Zhou Cheng Cheng accidentally pukes all over Wen Shao Qing. Cong Rong lets him shower at her place and wear her pink shower gown.
Cong Rong sulks about her work too (for failing at mediating and being involved in rumours). Wen Shao Qing assures Cong Rong she’s doing just fine.
Zhou Cheng Cheng’s boyfriend cheats on her with the waitress who works for her. He isn’t the least bit sorry and even tells her he hates her, he only dated her for money. Currently, he’s still using her card to swipe for his bills with his new girlfriend. Trash. Wen Rang witnesses her embarrassing moment and helps her get a tiny bit of revenge on that trash.
Wen Rang lends Zhou Cheng Cheng a coat and she uses it to wipe her runny nose. She notices teethmark on his arm. She asks him if it’s from a dog bite. He looks at her and nods, "Yes, a dog." Heh. No, it’s actually her teeth mark when she was drunk that night.
Wen Shao Qing saves Cong Rong from a messy situation where she involves herself with scammers. He lectures her for putting herself in unnecessary danger. She retorts he did the same for her. His answer: saving her is not unnecessary.
Cong Rong is at her company gathering. She has no results to show off like her peers. This female intern rubs it in. Cong Rong drinks a lot that night. Later, she receives news that the old man is saved. She runs to give Wen Shao Qing a big hug. She falls asleep drunk. He takes her back to her home. The next morning she goes about her usual morning routine but everything she buys (coffee, sandwich, and taxi fare) have all been paid. She finds it so odd she doesn’t dare eat anything because she's afraid of poison. She’s at the hospital and meets Wen Shao Qing. Wen Shao Qing uses some sort of logic to explain that hug of hers is because she likes him.
Wei Rang calls up his nephew to give him good news: “The girl you like asked me if you have any girl you like via her friend". Wen Shao Qing cutely smiles to himself.
Cong Rong falls after Wen Shao Qing’s dog attacks her. She knocks her head. When he worriedly exams her head, she falls in love with him a bit. After taking her to the hospital, he wants her to sleep at his place so he can observe her for the night. She refuses but fate has it that her door lock is out of battery and Wen Shao Qing won’t give her the keys. The only option is to stay at his place.
He prepares food for her and intentionally asks her to tie an apron for him. She asks him to teach her how to make the noodles. He won’t because he’ll have nothing to tempt her to come over. She gulps and changes the topic to the chopsticks and the flowers on it. He carved it himself; if she wants flowers he can buy her some too. She quickly finishes her food. He tells her that in a family if one person does the cooking then the other person should wash dishes. Obediently, she washes them but then she realizes she fell into his trap. He called her “family”. This guy just won’t stop flirting.
He lets her sleep on his bed while he takes the couch. Through the door she asks him if he likes her. He opens the door. Light glows from behind him. He admits he likes her. Sitting on the bed, he moves in to kiss her. Hate to pop your bubble, but this is a dream. Definitely.
Second Couple: Wen Rang drinks with Zhou Cheng Cheng. She’s surprised he’s interacting with her. He’s always either ignoring her or ignoring her.
[Ep7] As a result of that dream, Cong Rong is incredibly conscious whenever he’s near her and he closes up on her a lot for no good reason. He picks up on her nervousness and casually asks her if she likes him. It’s romantic until he rambles about his logical observations on her hormonal reactions.
Qin Chu (doctor) likes Wen Shao Qing and is jealous of Cong Rong. Cong Rong is also jealous of her when other doctors compliment of their CP feels. After being jealous, Cong Rong draws a clear line between hers and Wen Shao Qing's ambiguous relationship. Not accepting his breakfast is the first thing she does. She has also accepted a blind date. He smartly deduces she’s jealous. Then he smirks and wraps his arm around her to help her fly the kite.
[Ep9] There’s a drinking game. Wen Shao Qing is asked whether the person he likes is someone he knew for a long time. Cong Rong had anonymously submitted that question. His answer is yes. Cong Rong thinks it’s Qin Chu. (Cong Rong actually has a memory of a little boy whom she calls “Little Fatty”. He's still important to her to this day. It’s just she doesn’t remember his name.)
Qin Chu asks Cong Rong if she can refrain from being hers and Wen Shao Qing’s change factor. She knows it’s wrong of her but he’s that important to her. Cong Rong reluctantly complies. Plus she doesn’t think it’s her he likes because of that answer he gave.
Wen Shao Qing broods over Cong Rong neglecting him. He closes in on her after she just showered and tells her the person he likes isn’t Qin Chu, it’s her, but he doesn’t get to finish his sentence. She cuts him off right at the important moment.
Cong Rong’s mother discovers her daughter is in China. She faints. Mom was going to continue to feign sickness but Wen Shao Qing helps Cong Rong by reminding mom the cost of the bed.
Mom has dinner at Wen Shao Qing's and asks him about his ideal type. His description is obviously Cong Rong and mom adds in if the girl is wearing a yellow sweater and jeans. He nods. That’s exactly Cong Rong. Flustered, Cong Rong leaves to wash the dishes. She's still hung up on the fact that Wen Shao Qing likes Qin Chu and over-squirts the dish soap bottle. Qiao Ye wipes the foam on her nose and hovers around her to wash her hands for her.
Cong Rong meets her "Little Fatty" or who she thinks is her little fatty. It's a scam and she soon realizes it. The man forces her to stay. A worried Wen Shao Qing arrives to see his girl ferociously attack the man with her heels.
Wen Shao Qing finally tells Cong Rong he’s her Little Fatty. He brings her to the tree to tell her this was the place they promised to meet. He asks her to be his girlfriend but she needs to digest everything first. It’s okay, he’s already waited this long, waiting a bit more isn’t a problem. She’s in tears. He hugs her again and this time she hugs him back.
[Ep11] Cong Rong is at the supermarket with Wen Shao Qing. He asks her when she’s going to accept. She hasn't decided yet and it’s only been one day but he says it’s been like a year. She wants the drink in his hand and he’ll give it to her ... if she comes over for dinner. She snatches it from his hand and gives him a cute glare.
Mom finds out Cong Rong isn’t in finance as she claims to be. She’s a lawyer, the last profession mom wants her daughter to work as. Dad died and he was a lawyer. He was too righteous and it made their life difficult. Although Mom admired Dad, she doesn’t want her daughter to follow the same path. Mom barges into her law firm and meets her supervisor, Shang Guan Yi. He recounts all the work Cong Rong poured in to be a lawyer. Mom hesitates on quitting for her daughter. Seems like Shan Guan Yi really cares about his junior of his.
Wen Shao Qing picks up his angry potential mother-in-law. He tells her that Cong Rong sounds just like her father. It’s not likely she can stop her daughter from being a lawyer. He promises mom that he’ll take care of her daughter.
Mom forgives her daughter and allows her to continue her career as a lawyer. She tells Cong Rong she has decided to stay until Cong Rong finds a boyfriend. Cong Rong quickly lies that she’s dating Wen Shao Qing and that becomes his green card to do anything he wants to her. The next morning, he holds her hand to get on the elevator but once inside she shakes his hand off. She finds it a little awkward. Outside the condo, he takes her hand again. Her mother is staring from the balcony above. Reluctantly, Cong Rong leans her stiff neck on his arm/shoulder (she’s not tall enough to put her head on his shoulder). During lunch, Wen Shao Qing video calls her mother and now Cong Rong has to accept the food he’s feeding to her mouth. Everyone in the hospital gawks at them, except Zhong Zhen who is grinning. Cutie.

Remarks
[First Impression (Ep1-6)] This is a mini Put Your Head on My Shoulder reunion between Si Tu Mo and Fu Pei. He couldn’t get the girl there and now he’s here pursuing her relentlessly and ever so flirtatiously.
The drama outside the drama seems more intriguing, though. At one point on Douban, the ratings were strikingly polarizing. I mostly saw either one star or five stars. One star are angry fans of the novel the drama is supposed to be based on. They’re furious because the drama has nothing to do with the novel but it dares to call itself a novel adaptation. Five stars are those in support of the drama and most of those comments clarify they have not read the novel.
If I read the novel, I’d be mad too. Since I didn’t, I’m neutral about this ordeal but I can’t agree with either one star or five star ratings with what I’ve seen in six episodes. To be completely honest, I’m not too impressed. The ML falls lightening fast in love with her after he learns her name (Ep1) purely because she saved him years and years and years ago from a bully that one time. Uhh. How old was he back then? It’s not like he grew up with her. Shouldn’t there be a transition period for him? Six episodes in and he’s got her in his grasp and has completely immersed himself in her life whether or not she likes it. Then our FL thinks there’s a slim probability he likes her. Did I tell you she’s supposed to be an intelligent lawyer?
My main problem might just be because I don’t feel the chemistry. This is a me thing; from what I see anyone who hasn’t read the novel seems to love these two. I will be trying a few more episodes to see if I can get on board.
[Actors/Actresses] Fu Wei Lun (Zhong Zhen) is cute.
[Dropped (Ep11)] It’s very sweet but I don’t feel this one. It’s better I don’t join in and ruin your little happiness.
