Only after she regains her memory does she realize she saved her enemy. He’s part of the reason why the war began. Or so she believes.
Wen Xin takes Feng Xi hostage but his men surround her. Feng Xi kills her. He actually kills her. What. Except she revives! Once her body touches water she can instantly come back from the dead or heal from wounds.
[Ep3] Pang Yu, a prince, walks by a starving Wen Xin and feeds her. (He thinks she's a him though because of her male get up.) To thank him, she gives him her umbrella. Since she's from the future she knows that it's supposed to snow in this July sky. He asks her for her name. Without thinking, she calls herself Dong Yue, the name Feng Xi gave her. I will start calling her Dong Yue from hereon.
[Ep4] Feng Xi is furious Dong Yue let another girl (Ming Zhu) wear the clothes he bought for her. He makes Ming Zhu strip (only the outer layer) and burns the clothes on the spot.
Dong Yue is blamed for something she didn’t do. Ming Zhu can prove her innocence but she betrays her instead.
[Ep5] Dong Yue is punished and whipped. Pang Yu visits her in prison. She asks him for a favour: she wants him to bring him to a pool and says he detained her there. Pang Yu doesn't get it but he does it. That's when he knows she's a girl (from her figure in the pool). He also notices her wounds instantly heal. She tells him her body was weird like that ever since birth. He believes it.
[Ep6] Dong Yue thinks Pang Yu saved her. Feng Xi clarifies for her that it was him, him, and only him. He shows the injury he suffered for her. Dong Yue wavers. She still thinks he’s a dangerous man though. Well, he did kill her once, make her faint the other time, and almost whipped her to death this time. So... Despite that, she feels bad for his injuries so she makes Lu Chuan give Feng Xi a topical cream. When Feng Xi learns this, he’s happy all over again.
[Ep7] Pang Yu definitely likes Dong Yue. Meanwhile she’s starting to like Feng Xi but she’s too confused why he’s simultaneously saving her and endangering her. And well, Feng Xi definitely likes her.
[Ep8] Dong Yue tries to ambush Lu Yuan Tong but fails and injures herself. Feng Xi protects her by pretending to sleep with her to fool the guards. She asks him why he’s saving her. He doesn’t know either, he just cares about her.
Dong Yue isn’t caught for the ambush but her female identity is exposed to the Emperor. It’s okay though. Feng Xi calls her his woman and so she’s somehow promoted to a judge to oversee the case.
[Ep10] Zi Yuan protects Dao Le from an attack with her body. He’s touched; he's even more in love with her. I think this girl has an addiction to heroism, saving people left and right.
Feng Xi suffered an injury for Dong Yue too and he uses it to his advantage to make Dong Yue care for him. She does. She’s quite worried actually. And he’s very pleased. Beats me why she thinks Feng Xi is only nice to her to repay her for the favour when she saved him.
[Ep11] Pang Yu and Feng Xi were friends when they were young. Feng Xi stopped people from bullying Pang Yu. Feng Xi was nice to people he liked and mean to people he hated. He can even make those he hate die. Pang Yu is opposite of him. He treats everyone the same: generous and civil. One time, Feng Xi went over the line and beyond the principles Pang Yu can handle and hence their current relationship.
Our newbie Zi Yuan can fight better than our female General, Dong Yue... Dong Yue was trying to help Feng Xi even if it means betraying Pang Yu.

[Ep1] Wen Xin is revived but she doesn’t know who she is. When she plays her flute, she recalls all her memories. She’s a general from the future. She dies on site in this bloody war, failing to restore the peace. On her way to the otherworld I assume, she begs this hooded figure (Er Yu) to let her go back in time to prevent this war from erupting. Hence she’s here eight years before war has begun. Er Yu also tells her that his spirit is in the flute he gave her. It will protect her.

Because of the accurate prediction Dong Yue made, she's hired by Pang Yu to work for the palace in the History Department. A fellow newbie historian, Lu Chuan, is punished. She tries to speak up for him but gets herself in trouble with him. Feng Xi saves both of them.
Pang Yu seems to hate Feng Xi for reasons currently unknown. He hates seeing Feng Xi. Conveniently, Feng Xi uses Dong Yue to make Pang Yu jealous by loudly declaring Dong Yue as his because even her name was given to her by him.

Feng Xi captures the guilty man who sabotaged Dong Yue but he didn’t do it just to save her. He did it for Ming family. He’s getting revenge for his mother (a royal consort) but this man is only a pawn, the real mastermind is at a much higher position.

Dong Yue tells Feng Xi the person she loves is the person who grew up with her and gave her the flute. It's Er Yu. Feng Xi looks over at her flute and says it's familiar. He assures her he’ll replace Er Yu in her heart one day. Feng Xi is Er Yu?
Feng Xi sulks (heh) that Dong Yue might actually be this little girl’s mother but his love for her will be unchanging. He investigates into Minister Wen’s wife and discovers that his wife (the mother of little Wen Xin) committed suicide. The weird thing about this is that if the husband and wife were so unhappy with each other then why does Wen Ye love his daughter so much.
Feng Xi also genuinely likes the young Wen Xin. He loses her though but luckily she's found by Pang Yue. So this is how real Wen Xin meets Feng Xi and Pang Yue...but she's so young...
Second Couple: Dao Le kisses Zi Yuan to tell her what’s the difference between a brother and a man. He’s a bit drunk. He's upset she thinks of him as a brother but he doesn't know she already gave him her precious talisman.
[Ep23] Dong Yue pulls out her sword again, this time it’s aimed at Pang Yu. She demands for his help to aid Feng Xi.
[Ep24] Feng Xi and Dao Le need to go somewhere. Dao Le buys a ton of stuff for Zi Luan so that she can be reminded of him. Zi Yuan entertains him and when he runs out of money she tells him it’s not in the materials that makes her love him. Understanding her, Dao Le decides to return everything. Zi Yuan stops him. He already bought all these for her, he can’t return them, they're hers. Girls, lol.
Anyways back to Feng Xi. He’s doing something secretive, keeping Dong Yue in the dark. She keeps misunderstanding but this time she’s not brashly intervening. This secretive thing he’s doing is a romantic firework event for her.
[Ep25] Feng Xi is insanely jealous of Wen Ye. Dong Yue tells him the truth. He believes her in an instant. He assures her that no mater what she is, he loves her.

[First Impression (Ep1-10)] I am semi-interested in this. First episode is pretty and intriguing. Our FL (a General) is from the future, not modern future, just eight years later. She’s back in time to stop the war before it starts. I don’t know how she survived in her time but there’s this spiritual being who gave her this new life. I am a little worried how this will end because she is set to die in eight years, or so I believe... but that’s too soon to worry about! There's another 30 episodes. Anyways. The moment she’s revived, she catches our ML bathing and saves him when he doesn’t need saving. Their meeting is fated. A twisted fate of love? When she regains all her memories, she remembers the ML’s involvement in the war. She tries to kill him but he kills her first. Yes, he kills her! But she can revive! That’s pretty much the first episode. Pretty cool, I must say.
The rest of the episodes lose a little flare. First episode, ML clearly wanted to kill her. By second episode, he’s in love with her. What. Where. How. Because she can come back from the dead? That’s killer charms, I guess. Okay, seriously now. He probably likes her because they have the same goals. He makes himself look evil in order to work undercover. Obviously, she misunderstands him but is still oddly attracted to him. The rest of the story loosens up with not-so-smart villains and the FL not being the most useful when she has the knowledge of the future. And hence why I'm semi-interested in this only.
Miscellaneous: The Chinese title is 今夕何夕 which is an idiom in Chinese that translates to "What night is tonight?" It's used to admire the night, "Oh what a beautiful night" kind of thing. 夕 (Xi) is also part of Feng Xi's (冯夕) name. Meanwhile Dong Yue's name, 冬月, means the eleventh lunar month (November...but not really). Both their names and the Chinese title are very time and night related.
[Actors/Actresses] This drama is Sun Yi's return work from pregnancy. I know of her but I haven't seen much of her. I like the boys here more. Jin Han is someone I'm familiar with on variety shows. I appreciate actors like him who can bring both charisma and humour to their acting. He’s got that moody, dark, misunderstood aura about him and yet he can easily make me laugh. Even if he’s not the best looking guy out there, I like him. I also love Tan Jian Ci. I can't wait until this guy gets a leading role!! I don't know if I like him here as the second male lead though. This role pales in comparison to the heinous Guan Zhen Lei in The Centimetre of Love that's currently airing.

She pouts that it's him who brings surprises to her; she never knows what he's thinking.
Zi Yuan tries to convince Dong Yue that Feng Xi truly loves her. However, Dong Yue is still in denial. She doesn't trust him.
[Ep14] Dong Yue is slowly realizing Feng Xi might just be a good guy behind all his manipulative scheming.

Did I get the time-travel time wrong? It doesn’t make sense that she traveled eight years back and in present time the real Wen Xin is just a young child. Unless the Dong Yue we know now is barely 20 X_X. Confused.

[Ep17] Dong Yue tells Feng Xi that today is her birthday too.
By the end of the episode, Dong Yue is kidnapped.

[Ep18] Feng Xi risks his life to save Dong Yue. She had a chance to leave but she stays with him. Dong Yue finally starts believing he sincerely loves her. She accepts him.
Dong Yue loses her ability to heal. Hm.
Dong Yue has no intentions of going against Feng Xi anymore. Pang Yu reminds her that it was her who told him she’s befriending Feng Xi to find evidence of his crimes. However, she’s already in love with Feng Xi. She believes in him.

[Ep19] Lu Yuan Tong (the baddie) finds out Feng Xi is not a real Feng heir. Therefore he's not actually Consort Feng's real brother. Lu Yuan Tong had found it suspicious why Consort Feng would sew a pouch with a love poem on it to Feng Xi. He sets up a trap to catch the "siblings" secretly meeting in the night for the Emperor to catch them. It doesn't help that Consort Feng has been eating food akin to birth control. Thus, Feng Xi is imprisoned.
With the request of Dong Yue, Pang Yu helps Feng Xi meet Consort Feng. Feng Xi promises he'll keep her safe as long as they insist they're real siblings. She apologizes for ruining his plans. She asks him why he doesn't question about her birth control. It’s because she loves him. She loved him ever since he saved her from the water and stayed with her when Feng family was in shambles. Feng Xi cannot reciprocate her feelings. He leaves her but he realizes something is off about her. He runs back but she has already taken the poisonous wine. She's tired. She doesn't want to keep this secret that breaks her heart. She also knows her death can keep him safe. If he thinks he owes her, then she wants him to live on for her. Oh wow, so we’re done with her character?
Feng Xi is released from prison but the palace dismisses Feng family. Li Yu Rong wants to stay. He's like sure but Dong Yue is the lady in charge now. If Li Yu Rong wants to stay, she'll have to serve Dong Yue.
[Ep20] Li Yi Rong reminds Feng Xi of when they first met. She helped him when he was nothing. She hid him in her carriage so the guards couldn't catch him. Feng Xi listens to her story but he's still harsh to her and leaves her.
Next on Feng Xi's list is Dong Yue. He reminds her of her mission to kill Lu Yuan Tong. She shouldn't be with him. She questions whether his love for her was all fake then. He convinces her to leave too. However, when she realizes he might have been pushed off a cliff, she almost jumps down to find him. Feng Xi is fine. He grabs her back and kisses her. He realizes he can't get rid of her and takes her along. All these women and their love for Feng Xi... There's Consort Feng, Li Yi Rong, and Dong Yue...
[Ep21] Feng Xi twists the evidence to prove his innocence with his sister to the Emperor meanwhile sabotaging Lu Yuan Tong. Lu Yuan Tong is arrested. Feng Xi also finds the jade that Dong Yue lost and prepares a romantic event for her.
And yet Dong Yue back to distrusting Feng Xi because of some evidence Pang Yu showed her. Girl can die for this man but cannot trust this man.
Second Couple: Zi Yuan tells the slow-witted Dao Le she doesn't want him to be her brother anymore. It's a love confession. These two also realize they've kissed each other twice.
[Ep22] Dong Yue is back to distrusting Feng Xi. She points her sword to Feng Xi’s chest. He grabs her sword and pierces it in himself. She can’t kill him so she slices the jade in half to prove her resolution to cut ties with him.
A stupid Dong Yue ruins Feng Xi’s plan in capturing Lu Yuan Tong. Feng Xi risks everything to protect her. So many people die because of her idiocy. Including Feng Xi. Wtf?
As Dong Yue sees Feng Xi dying because of her, she’s reminded he’s Er Yu (?). Dong Yue is back into the fantasy world where she meets Er Yu. She begs him to allow her to return before she ruined Feng Xi plans. Wish accepted. She times travels again.

When she regains all her memories, she remembers the ML’s involvement in the war. She tries to kill him but he kills her first. Yes, he kills her! But she can revive! That’s pretty much the first episode. Pretty cool, I must say.
The rest of the episodes lose a little flare. First episode, ML clearly wanted to kill her. By second episode, he’s in love with her. What. Where. How. Because she can come back from the dead? That’s killer charms, I guess. Okay, seriously now. He probably likes her because they have the same goals. He makes himself look evil in order to work undercover. Obviously, she misunderstands him but is still oddly attracted to him. The rest of the story loosens up with not-so-smart villains and the FL not being the most useful when she has the knowledge of the future. And hence why I'm semi-interested in this only.
[Actors/Actresses] This drama is Sun Yi's return work from pregnancy. I know of her but I haven't seen much of her. I like the boys here more. Jin Han is someone I'm familiar with on variety shows. I appreciate actors like him who can bring both charisma and humour to their acting. He’s got that moody, dark, misunderstood aura about him and yet he can easily make me laugh. Even if he’s not the best looking guy out there, I like him. I also love Tan Jian Ci. I can't wait until this guy gets a leading role!! I don't know if I like him here as the second male lead though. This role pales in comparison to the heinous Guan Zhen Lei in The Centimetre of Love that's currently airing.
[Dropped] Another drama where I was truly interested in the story but has become unwatchable for me in the middle. I don’t like the female lead. It’s either because of Sun Yi’s inability to make her character likeable or her character’s utter uselessness. I also cannot follow the logic or more like I’m not at all emotionally invested to believe in this story. Feng Xi believing Dong Yue is big Wen Xin without any doubt is my last straw. Try telling your SO you’re an alien.
