Mini Recaps

[Ep1] There's three characters to our story. Jiang Shuo is the main lead. He doesn't actually know who he is. A man adopted him a year ago and found a pouch that said "Jiang Shuo" on it and hence he has been living as Jiang Shuo for the past year in this circus like place.

Qin Yi Heng is a psychologist who's incredibly intuitive. His investigation on his father's disappearance leads him to Jiang Shuo. He found a note written by "Liu Zhi" (Sixth Finger) that said if he can find Jiang Shuo before his death on October 15th then he can find his father alive. Interesting to note, the man who adopted Jiang Shuo also had his daughter kidnapped by the same person/organization/thing (I have no idea yet) as Qin Yi Heng's father.

Last but not least, there's Yuan Mu Qing – a rich (possibly spoiled) daughter who is a police officer. She arrests Jiang Shuo as a suspect of murder. She's aggressive in front of Jiang Shuo but all sweet and docile in front of Qin Yi Heng.

Jiang Shuo is involved in the murder because he scammed the victim of his home helped the victim get rid of his haunted house by buying it for a low price. Jiang Shuo escapes from prison with his hypnotic skills and finds a secret hideout. In there he sees four nameplates; two of them belong to the late victims; the last one is his own: Jiang Shuo. His death is predicted to be on October 15th.

[Ep2] Qin Yi Heng saves Jiang Shuo and helps him investigate the murder. Together, these men investigate into Liu Zhi. Qin Yi Heng wants to find him for his father. Jiang Shuo wants to find him for his forgotten past.

[Ep3] Yuan Mu Qing isn't just a rich mistress messing around in the police department. This girl can fight. It makes Jiang Shuo speechless. There's a bit of a skinship between these two and it makes both of them nervous. Their encounters this episode also begins their love-hate relationship.

Jiang Shuo has this ability to enter a person's subconsciousness ("read minds"). He uses it on the suspect and takes Qin Yi Heng on this journey. Inside this suspect's subconsciousness, they discover the suspect is being controlled by this zombie-puppeteer who is using the suspect's hatred for those who was involved in his daughter's death to kill the three victims. There's literally strings attached to this soul.  Yuan Mu Qing guards their body but a hooded mysterious man attacks them. She manages to wake the boys up before it's too late.

[Ep4] This hooded man is the real murderer. He's killing these people to set up this Feng Shui to lift the curse upon his family that prevents him from living past the age of 40. Jiang Shuo is merely part of his Feng Shui plan. The one who told him of this plan is Liu Zhi. Qin Yi Heng and Jiang Shuo ask him for Liu Zhi's whereabouts but he doesn't know. A mysterious voice fills up the room. It's Liu Zhi. He congratulates Jiang Shuo for passing the first level. He invites him to his game; the wager is his (Jiang Shuo's) life plus the life of another.

By the way, there's 30 days left until October 15th.

Also, Yuan Mu Qing's father's mustache looks incredibly fake.

[Ep5] Second mind-reading venture. Jiang Shuo and Qin Yi Heng have to play hide and seek with these children to find a missing person. It leads them to an orphanage. This orphanage kidnaps children to sell to the black market.

[Ep6] The bad people are caught. The kids are safe. Everything is part of Liu Zhi's plan that we all know nothing of

Remarks

[First Impression (Ep1-6)] First episode looks cool. Although it reminds me of My Roommate is a Detective, it's more similar to The Unknown (2018) – which I totally recommend – with its character setting, fantasy elements, underlying creepiness, and a main lead who doesn't remember who he is. Ep4 is when this drama gets into its groove and I know a bit more about Liu Zhi (Sixth Finger) who's controlling everything but then again I still don't know much. I'm more intrigued with the background of the characters than the cases, which I currently find flat. The creepy haunted house vibe also captures my attention. Weird things beyond my imagination keep happening. Thus, in terms of the technical aspect, this is winning but story wise, I don't know yet. I am willing to believe in the potential of this though.

Romance wise, it's there. It's not very interesting thus far. The girl bickers with the ML and admires the SML. It probably won't take over half the drama but maybe one-quarter of it at most. Bromance wise, I think the drama is trying to channel it but I don't feel it. Yet. Who knows.

Note: Recaps will be extremely light because I'm not that interested in the cases.

[Actors/Actresses] Among the new premieres, I tried this drama first because I like the leads. I love Hou Ming Hao from "When We Were Young". I like Zhu Xu Dan (Bambi Zhu) too but she hasn't been in a lot of roles I like.

[Dropped] Not for me. I find the case-solving repetitive in that the ML will just enter into dreams to solve everything. In the dream world, nothing logical happens.
