- Xuan Ji follows Yu Si Feng down the steps. She’s talking to him continuously and he’s not replying at all. She steps onto his clothes and he curtly tells her “Foot”. She quickly apologizes like she did nothing wrong.
- Xuan Ji accidentally teleports into Si Feng’s bath. He’s naked. She chats with him and he questions her whether chatting here is appropriate. She agrees it isn’t. She wants to leave but she has to find her amulet first. She’s searching all over the bath to look for it, careful to not dip her head under the water. Feeling wary as she closes in on him, he sends her flying out of his tub but he also gives her a towel to dry herself with.
- Si Feng gives Xuan Ji medicine for her injuries. Xuan Ji helps him apply the ointment seeing that he gave her everything when he has wounds himself. There’s a wisp of love in the air as he stares at her caring for him.
- Si Feng takes her to try all sorts of delicacies. He uses food to teach her about feelings: bitter is sadness, sweetness is happiness, etc. Obviously, he’s more eloquent in explaining this than I am. He gives her a sweet cold drink. He smiles at her eating. She starts complimenting his smile and compares it to the drink she just had; on the exterior he's cold but the smile is sweet. She tells him he needs to smile more. He loves the compliment until she pokes his cheek. He teases her back and tempts her with sauce on his finger. He motions his fingers around her telling her that this is a taste you want but can’t have. He explains that this is "yearning". Xuan Ji clamps down on his finger and sucks the sauce off. Si Feng~, this is yearning; you want her but you can’t have her. At least not yet. Ha.
Xuan Ji: You're in front of me but I still miss you.
The group is off to find the third mirror fragment sans Liu Yi Huan (who needs to search for his daughter). They stop by at an event. Fire bursts at Xuan Ji. Si Feng blocks it and now she’s in his arms, their faces in close proximity. His hair is entangled in her heart pin. They’re stuck to each other, both feeling the proximity. Is Xuan Ji finally feeling something? After he untangles from her heart pin, he lies that her hair is messed up and he’ll need to leave a bit to buy her a hair pin. She doesn’t think it is. He confesses it’s him (his feelings) that is messed up. He needs to physically distance himself to calm down, hehe. While he’s gone, she is almost conned by this man who says he has a mirror fragment. When the man reaches out to her, a jealous Si Feng hangs him up in the midair. While he’s still floating above them, Si Feng affectionately puts the hair pin in Xuan Ji's hair, completely ignoring the floating man. Si Feng then sends him flying. Xuan Ji thinks he’s a nice man though. Si Feng assures her that’s why he’s letting the man see the beautiful city from the highest point possible. Haha.
They’re off to another mission to take down a demon. They disguise themselves as four grooms for the demon lady to choose from. Xuan Ji pretends to be a guy. She changes into wedding clothes behind Si Feng. How can this guy stay calm? She’s having difficulty tying her belt. He turns to help her. She lifts her veil to see him and smiles brightly at him. Si Feng, how can you stay calm?
Wu Tong takes down his old sect (Xuan Yuan) and kills his master. All the other disciples watch their master die and betray the whereabouts of the sacred key. Wu Tong finds out the key is with Xuan Ji and thus he’s after her now.
Xuan Ji and the rest are captured by the demon. The men become victims to the demon’s powers, rendered paralyzed, except Xuan Ji. Xuan Ji waits for the chance to attack the demon but none of her attacks are hurting the demon. When Si Feng tries to protect Xuan Ji, the demon is angered. She hates couples.
The demon angers Xuan Ji by threatening to kill Si Feng. Her blue powers activate and take over once again. She attacks the demon and almost kills her if not for Si Feng’s appearance. His voice brings Xuan Ji’s consciousness back.
The demon tells them she’s trying to save her lover for the past thousand years. She’s taken only a little bit of blood from each person to save her lover. She hasn’t killed anyone. The people she captured actually idolize her. The one medication that can save her lover (Wu Zhi Qi) is locked by four special keys. Each key is guarded by the four sects. Tian Xu Tang is after the four keys too (hence why Wu Tong took down Xuan Yuan sect). Unlike her, they want to save Wu Zhi Qi for evil reasons.
The girls, Ling Long and Xiao Yin Hua, are searching for the boys and Xuan Ji. They're lost but somehow find the mirror fragment instead. Since they can’t take it out, they take note of the location, and continue their search for the others. These two are bickering their ways to being best friends.
The place they're at is weird. They can't use their cultivation to escape here. It's barricaded with a magical force. Xuan Ji accidentally touches a staff that’s driven to the ground. Thunder starts striking recklessly. They dodge the storm in the cave. Xuan Ji feeds Si Feng the fruits she managed to collect before the storm. He takes it happily, despite the fruit being as bitter as ever. While he eats the bitter fruit, he gives her the bun he had packed for her. At night she sleeps on his shoulder. He sighs that he’s not a saint. In her sleep, she says she knows but she snuggles into him even more. Without a choice, he holds her hands to sleep. He's in bliss, but the next morning he finds out the mask she took off is frowning.
Hao Chen finally gets his letter from Xuan Ji but he seems bothered. The letter she sent starts with Si Feng ends with Si Feng and is filled with Si Feng.
The past life is a little confusing for me but I'll try to explain what I get. Hao Chen is Bai Lin Di Jun (a God of higher ranking than the Warrior God). He disguises himself as the human Hao Chen to guard Xuan Ji. Xuan Ji is his disciple, his Warrior God. He trained her for the purpose of bringing peace to the Three Realms. She must stay loyal to him and she must fight for him. Rather possessive, no? Whenever Si Ming says he descended for Xuan Ji, Hao Chen corrects him that he’s doing it for world peace. Because as long as Xuan Ji can safely live this life, it will bring peace to the Three Realms. But now she’s activated Ding Kun. I don't think Bai Lin Di Jun loved her when she was his Warrior God, but I can't say the same for Hao Chen towards Xuan Ji. He seemed particularly jealous that her letter was all about Si Feng.
At night, Si Feng wants to drink with her. He plans to confess but two lightbulbs join the party. His confession fails and he ends up drunk. He’s frustrated at her for carelessly poking his heart. He holds her hand to put it to his chest. He wants her to feel his heartbeat that's beating for her. Initially she thought he was sick but as he continues to fervently stare at her, she suddenly retracts her hand away. Did she feel her heartbeat quickening too? She decides to fly him to a doctor but he pulls her back. The two spin in the sky and fall down gracefully into the petal covered floor. She turns to face him, her head resting on her hand. He tells her that if she took off his mask, she needs to take responsibility for him. Of course she will, she says. He goes in for a kiss but she sneezes. Is this the purpose of gaining her sense of smell? To interrupt everything.
Xuan Ji makes hangover soup for Si Feng. He reaches his hand to receive the bowl but she’s quicker at feeding it to his mouth. He likes that a lot. But the morning is shortly ruined when Li Ze Gong disciples are here to take him back. Since the mask wasn’t taken off properly (the frown), Si Feng still reports to Li Ze Gong. Si Feng knows he has to leave. He hugs her and tells her a secret: "It's really hard to live but you are worth it for me to live. T/N I may have changed the wording quite a bit but I believe this is the message he wanted to tell her. It would sound really off if I translated it as is. She won’t let them take him unless she can guarantee his safety. Si Feng is so touched he can cry. Li Ze Gong people challenge her that she needs to take responsibility. She declares she will but the responsibility is for her to be his wife. She hesitates but she agrees on their terms. Si Feng is so touched, he's speechless. However, whether or not she’ll marry him, the fact is the mask is frowning. That’s bs to her so she slices the mask with her new sword and it instantly breaks into pieces. The masked man declares a battle with her. Her eyes glow blue again to protect Si Feng. The masked man is not a match for her in this state of hers had it not been for Hao Chen's interruption.
Si Feng: I love you. I love you more than anything in this world. I don't want to share you with anyone. I want you to only belong to me.
Si Feng gives Xuan Ji a hairpin (his mother's). But she's scared to accept something so precious. She already messed up when she accepted Zhong Min Yan's present from long long ago. Xuan Ji runs away from him. Her heart is still beating erratically. Sweat is dripping from her neck. Her breaths are short and fast. She's feeling heat all over her body and especially in her heart. She dunks herself in cold water to quell the heat but it's not working. Her mind is full of Si Feng. She's told that this is love. However, Hao Chen negates everything with his logic. He tells her that he's only momentarily distracted by Si Feng's actions. It cannot be love.
Elsewhere, Ling Long is tortured by Wu Tong.
Wu Tong is obsessed with Ling Long. He uses her soul to create another copy of Ling Long. This wannabe Ling Long doesn’t have memories. She only knows that Wu Tong is her saviour.
Hao Chen interrogates Si Feng. He’s upset he changed Xuan Ji. Si Feng’s words strike a nerve in Hao Chen because it’s the exact words Xuan Ji said to him when she was his Warrior God. She was upset at him for making her emotionless. Because of him, she has no feelings, no family, no friends. Si Feng confronts Hao Chen why he wants Xuan Ji deprived of human emotions. Wu Tong and Hao Chen are quite the psychotic obsessive type.
Zhong Min Yan starts believing Si Feng but it’s too late. The way Si Feng is punished, he’s bound to die. Xuan Ji runs to the dungeon to save him. He sets up a barrier to prevent her from entering. It’s dangerous for her. She breaks the barrier and runs to him. Her eyes are watery.
Si Feng couldn’t explain himself to the leaders because he sent Xiao Yin Hua to find the mirror fragments. If he revealed that then he would be exposing Xuan Ji’s blue powers. Si Feng was risking his life to protect Xuan Ji. Xuan Ji doesn’t think she’s worth it over his life.
Si Feng: The things I do for you isn’t about whether it’s worth it, it’s whether I’m (sincerely) willing to do it.
Xuan Ji takes Si Feng to run away even against Hao Chen and her father’s orders. She puts a knife to her neck to protect him. Hao Chen asks her if it’s worth it to risk her life for Si Feng. She uses Si Feng’s words that it’s not about whether it’s worthy, it’s about whether she sincerely wants to. But Si Feng doesn’t want to put a wedge between her and her father. He holds onto Xuan Ji’s hands. He tells her he’s touched by her words and he can handle the punishment (for her). Si Feng willingly takes the three deadly whips to prove that he's not a demon.
Xuan Ji: “Without Si Feng, I don’t need my life either.”
The masters won’t relent on Si Feng’s punishment. In comes Si Feng’s master who brings evidence to prove Si Feng’s innocence. When the master asks who is responsible for accusing the innocent, none of the righteous leaders admit their faults. Uh Hao Chen, aren’t you a mighty and righteous god?
Si Feng is resting in bed. Zhong Min Yan tells Si Feng he’s never seen Xuan Ji like that. To her, he is her one and only. Si Feng is finally certain of her feelings.
Xuan Ji is at Si Feng’s bed side. He’s impatient and wants to get up but she orders him to rest. He smiles and listens. He also teases her about the vase. Zhong Min Yan told him about how she described her heart as the vase she broke when she was young. That was the saddest thing in her life and she compared that vase breaking to her heart breaking when he was imprisoned. He teases her how he’s only a vase to her. She’s embarrassed and asks him to teach her how to articulate her feelings better. He has something else he wants to teach her. He wants to teach her how to fall in love with him. She ponders. She puts her chin on her hand and tilts her head as she asks him innocently, “Is it hard?” It’s not. She just needs to learn it step by step. She might just be slower at it but no worries, Si Feng has all the patience in the world. He’s willing to teach her but only if she’s willing to learn it. He taps her head softly, tenderly. The entire time they’re talking, she has her hands tightly clasped around his. The first lesson he teaches her is to forgo that book of hers. He doesn’t need to be in her book, he wants to be the only one in her heart. The second lesson he teaches her is how to repel other men. If any man says he’s cold, she is not to hug him but to hit him. She sighs that she has to hit people now. He’s so frustrated with her responses, he pinches her cheeks.
Xiao Yin Hua is eavesdropping. Now that Xuan Ji knows she's the snake, she happily gives her fruits she purposely picked out for her. A grumpy Xiao Yin Hua is slowly warming up to Xuan Ji. Then Xuan Ji runs back to her seat next to Si Feng and puts her hand over his like it’s the most normal thing ever. Si Feng is smitten with her skinship. He's laughing so naturally, guys!!!
The group meets up with the demon fox lady from last time and she leads them closer on how to recover Ling Long's soul. The demon seductively touches Si Feng’s face. Xuan Ji is very quick to intercept. She’s experiencing a dose of jealousy. The demon fox knows it.
Liu Yi Huan has a third eye. Tian Xu Tang forces him to confirm whether Xuan Ji is the Warrior God. Initially, Liu Yi Huan refused but they threatened him with his daughter.
Meanwhile Wu Tong trumps over Tian Xu Tang's leader by figuring out his identity. He's the VP of Li Ze Gong (Yuan Lang) and his motive is to rule over the grand sects. Wu Tong uses this as a wager to gain more power.
Si Feng makes a passing comment on Hao Chen. Xuan Ji smiles cheerfully as she asks him if this is jealousy.
Liu Yi Huan is threatened to work for Wu Tong otherwise his daughter will be in danger. Thus, Si Feng and Xuan Ji are sucked into the mirror. They learn about her past and how she's the Warrior God in her past life. Hao Chen intercepts the visions so they don't get to see who Bai Lin is. Xuan Ji can only hear the Warrior God complaining she’s only “his” (Hao Chen) weapon used by them to commit all sorts of sins. Overwhelmed, Xuan Ji runs away. Si Feng was about to chase after her but then he appears in the mirror too. In these visions, Xuan Ji is a dancer while he plays qin. She’s called Lan Yue. He loves her here too but she doesn’t. She doesn't believe in anyone but herself.
- Si Feng is beheaded for Lan Yue's crimes but she doesn't seem to care. The blood mark on his eye is still there when he's beheaded. When we switched back to the current Si Feng, I was surprised to see an actual mole on his eye. Was it always there? Omg.
- Xuan Ji is a princess who received help from Si Feng to overthrow the current Emperor. He would do anything for her but she doesn't trust him because he's too powerful. She makes him drink a cup of poisonous wine. Si Feng (Xin Wang) pulls her in for a hug. Guys, he doesn't have a mole here. Or am I not looking closely enough? Does this mean the mole is only on the current Si Feng...? He almost kisses her but she pushes him away. Xin Wang takes the poison because he'll do anything for her. With the blood he spits out, Xuan Ji leaves another blood mark at his left eye.
- She's a witch now that's about to be executed if she doesn't regain her vision. Si Feng gives her his eyes and because that's illegal in their world, he has to die in order to keep her safe. Xuan Ji doesn't seem grateful at all he did this much for her.
- They're fighting in a dungeon of some sort. Only one of them can survive. At the last fatal blow they both strike at each other. She pierces him but he points at her with his sword handle. He spits out blood again and she dabs another blood mark on him
- Xuan Ji is a demon and he is using his own life to suck out the demon aura from her. He wants her to live her life at ease. She doesn't understand why he's so obsessed with her. He just doesn't want her to forget him. But she says she will. Si Feng tells her in his death, "Even if you forget me, I will still wait for you. No matter where you are, I will find you."
- She's an imperial guard and he's a prisoner. He used his entire life to draw portraits of her but she tells him she won't even bat him an eye. She kills him.
- They're fighting to be the leader of the sect or more like she wants it but he doesn't. He only loves her. At least this time she cries for him when he dies.
- They're both generals. He protects her. She's not the one who killed him in this lifetime.
- Xuan Ji is an assassin this time. Once he dies, she's free. If she fails, she'll die. So he dies for her. He only hopes that she won't forget him. Every single lifetime, she will always put a blood mark at the corner of his left eye.
Xuan Ji: I like you. I just want to be with you forever (this lifetime).
Xuan Ji kisses him on the lips. She shyly asks him if he can stay but before she finishes the sentence, he kisses her back. He never was planning to leave her.
Si Feng: If I keep remembering the past, how can I live this life well? This lifetime, I'll make you remember me.
The group enters Bu Zhou Shan. Purple Fox finds Wu Zhi Qi but he barely remembers her. Yuan Lang (Tian Xu Tang's leader) sucks her soul. The others find the wannabe Ling Long.
[Ep30] There’s a time limit to how long normal people can survive in Bu Zhou Shan. The group is almost at their limit. Thus, Zhong Min Yan offers his life (allegiance to Tian Xu Tang) and the key Wu Tong wants in exchange for Ling Long’s soul. Basically, Zhong Min Yan is betraying Shao Yang.
However, because Yuan Lang used Purple Fox’s soul to lock them in Bu Zhou Shan, there’s no way the group can get out alive. Ruo Yu allies with Wu Tong to stay alive as well. Wu Tong wants Ruo Yu to prove his loyalty so he orders him to kill Xuan Ji and he does. Si Feng blocks the fatal attack; no one can attack his girl as long as he lives. Xuan Ji cries for Si Feng who’s on the brink of death. She summons her Ding Kun to safely leave Bu Zhou Shan with Si Feng. Hao Chen also helped on the outside; he can’t let Xuan Ji die here and fail her tenth tribulation. Hao Chen is forced to save Si Feng too because Xuan Ji would have risked her life for him.
Even with Hao Chen using up almost all his powers, Si Feng is still barely alive. Xuan Ji, who can cry now, cries a magical tear that has vitality powers. The tear refuses to be absorbed into Si Feng so Xuan Ji uses her mouth to force it into Si Feng. Si Feng finally has a reaction but he’s still unconscious.
Si Feng is actually a demon. That’s why the tears won’t go into him. That tear is harmful for demons. He’s been using this ‘element’ (for lack of a better name) to control the demon in him from showing. Xiao Yin Hua tried to take this element out to help Si Feng recover but Si Feng would rather suffer than let Xuan Ji know he’s a demon. He tells her to bring Liu Yi Huan. Good thing Liu Yi Huan brings Ting Nu who saves Si Feng (and Hao Chen who was trying to investigate Si Feng’s body with his cultivation). Ting Nu also finds Hao Chen oddly familiar.
Xuan Ji has never feared so much her entire life until almost losing Si Feng. She promises him she’ll grow stronger to protect all the people she loves. Si Feng wakes up and teases her for crying for him. He also pretends to be dizzy just to make her hug him. When she’s close enough, he quickly kisses her forehead. Although he’s happy she loves him, he’s guilty for lying to her about being a demon.
Ruo Yu is helping Zhong Min Yan. He can’t watch his brother be in danger alone. Liu Yu, why are you so nice? He overheard Xuan Ji’s dad assigning Zhong Min Yan to spy on Tian Xu Tang. Dad wants their key for world peace my butt. Ruo Yu assures Zhong Min Yan that the injury he gave Si Feng isn’t fatal. Uh, it was almost fatal... Xuan Ji’s dad’s (Chu Lei) motive is obviously dubious. Ruo Yu and Zhong Min Yan discover that Wu Tong still kept half of Ling Long’s soul in the fake Ling Long.
[Ep32] The Snake God injures Si Feng and that activates Xuan Ji’s blue powers. Don’t touch her man~ She almost kills the Snake God with her Ding Kun. But Si Feng is fine. Si Feng suggests to Xuan Ji that she should take the God as her pet (just like how he has Xiao Yin Hua as his pet). The magic spell works. He’s now her Teng She. So one can adopt a god as a pet.
After putting out the fire, Xuan Ji’s face is all dirty and the ends of her eyebrows are gone. Si Feng cleans her face and fills in her eyebrows for her. Liu Yi Huan taught him how to draw brows saying that it’ll be useful one day. It really is useful for giving us fan service.
Teng She hates being Xuan Ji’s pet and wipes out an entire street to blame it on Xuan Ji, his “owner”. When he tries to hurt Xuan Ji, he can’t. Because he’s her owner. However when he ends up hurt, she helps him. She uses her blood to heal him. Si Feng doesn’t like Xuan Ji injuring herself for another man. Xuan Ji teases him that he’s jealous of her pet. Si Feng shamelessly wants her to comfort him. She pats his head but he wants more than that. He wants a kiss. Xuan Ji’s heart flutters when he kisses her.
Ling Long slowly remembers what her other half of her soul did to her shi-xiong. She cries. She can’t forgive herself and can’t show herself to Min Yan meanwhile he thinks he’s the one who wronged her.
Xuan Ji is sad her sister left. Si Feng says he’s quite envious of them though. He asks her if she’s willing to travel with him after they settle their matters. She shies away while smiling cutely. That night she puts Si Feng’s mother’s picture right next to her mother’s memorial. They bow to greet both their mothers. Si Feng smiles and says she’s practically his wife now. Xuan Ji hits him that this doesn’t count. If that’s so then where are her wedding presents? He says he already gave her his most precious hairpin. She counters that it’s a present from his mother. Si Feng teases her by complaining to both the moms about Xuan Ji being shameless.
The hairpin however has a bird that represents this demon bird. It’s this demon bird who killed Xuan Ji’s mother. Great, now they’re star crossed lovers. Si Feng is confused but he tries to convince her not all demon birds are evil. He promises to help her investigate this.
Xuan Ji: I’m here to kill you.
Si Feng: Then we’ll see if, Warrior God, you have the ability to.
She continues to challenge him to fight her. He doesn’t want to. There’s a demon behind her and that’s when he points his sword at her (the demon behind her). She continues to misunderstand him and points her sword to his neck every time. He finds proof that Yuan Lang is the killer of her mother but that’s not enough to make her forgive him. He has lied to her too many times now. While he’s preoccupied with her, he gives the sacred item to Purple Fox to save Wu Zhi Qi. Purple Fox faints over after she saves him but reminds Wu Zhi Qi to help Si Feng because he's the one who truly saved him.
Si Feng tells Xuan Ji he only wants to protect the person he loves. He’s not Mo Sha Xing. He wants to start anew with her. Dude. How is the girl going to believe you now??? Xuan Ji won’t hear a word of it. She can’t bring herself to kill him so she decides to use a special jade to cleanse out his evil aura that Hao Chen has given her. She wants him back, just not an evil and lying Si Feng. However, once she uses the jade on him, more blood oozes from his mouth. Wu Zhi Qi clarifies this jade is one of the most lethal weapons that even gods fear. Xuan Ji realizes Hao Chen lied to her. Wu Zhi Qi saves Si Feng and also takes him from her. Xuan Ji is in an emotional mess.
Si Feng wakes up with Ting Nu and Wu Zhi Qi’s help. He has no idea how much Xuan Ji cried for him. Liu Yi Huan is at his ear side complaining how evil Xuan Ji is for using that jade on him. Si Feng isn’t angry at her though. He thinks it’s because he lied to her too many times.
Xuan Ji rejects the marriage with Hao Chen. He says he will cancel it but he is a sly one...
Si Feng and Wu Zhi Qi work together to catch Yuan Lang. Unfortunately it requires using Xuan Ji. Although the three of them (including Purple Fox) coolly catch Yuan Lang in his own trap, Xuan Ji continues to be fooled by Si Feng. Hopefully, she’ll know how much Si Feng loves her soon.
Si Feng and Wu Zhi Qi, well mostly Si Feng, finish off Yuan Lang and Liu Li Zhan. With Yuan Lang dead, Si Feng can finally clear his name. Except Hao Chen is a b!tch. He makes it look like Si Feng was killing him when Si Feng wanted to save him. Everyone believes the oh so good Hao Chen. Si Feng's 'crimes' are sealed when Hao Chen dies. Even in death he has to be this annoying. Xuan Ji can’t believe him anymore no matter what he says. She pierces her sword into him.
Xuan Ji: Yu Si Feng, I regret knowing you.
Si Feng: Chu Xuan Ji, I finally understand why nine lives ended like that, at the end you’re just a person without heart.
Even then Si Feng still cares about Xuan Ji. He realizes there’s something off with Hao Chen’s orders to destroy Liuli Zhan. Xuan Ji will be consumed by Mo Sha Xing while trying to destroy it. Si Feng who has just barely recovered is once again trying to save Xuan Ji. Teng She tells him the one way she can save Xuan Ji is for him to destroy it in her place. Si Feng begs Wu Zhi Qi to help him. Wu Zhi Qi is already super peeved about the righteous sect blaming Si Feng for everything and now he has to risk Si Feng's life to save Xuan Ji. He's not willing to but Si Feng looks utterly devastated. So desperate. My poor Si Feng. Thus Si Feng consumes the nucleic powers of Liuli Zhan to prevent Xuan Ji from awakening her Mo Sha Xing. Xuan Ji faints over. She has no idea what Si Feng did for her. Si Feng also orders Teng She to not tell her any of this. Maaaaaan, does Si Feng want Xuan Ji back or not? He's making his own love life so miserable. The other sect members also have no intention of telling Xuan Ji how much Si Feng sacrificed for her. They're still blind. An injured Si Feng leaves with Wu Zhi Qi. Chu Lei orders people to go after him because who knows what a half dead man who just saved his daughter and the entire righteous sect could do. UGH. Teng She gives an earful to the righteous sect that if Si Feng had wanted to kill them you lot wouldn't be standing still here perfectly unscathed. I LOVE TENG SHE. He's like the audience member in the drama yelling at every idiot on the screen. So refreshing.
Si Feng plans to hand over his leadership of Li Ze Gong. Liu Yi Huan prevents that. He knows what So Feng wants. Once he leaves all his duties behind, he can find a lonely place to wait for his death. Liu Yi Huan won’t allow that.
Si Feng: I will go with you. I will use my life to save you, resolve your demonic aura and rectify the wrongs the celestial palace has accused you of.
Liu Yi Huan: This man (who has his life on a thread if he falls in love with you) needed to have so much courage and determination to give you his life and he gave you his everything. Because of that the Lover's Curse has already plagued him twice. One more time and he will die. If you cut ties with him, then he can keep his life. This episode makes me cry buckets. I'm also happy she knows everything now but it's still so heart wrenching.
Xuan Ji: If you will die then I will stay with you. Don't think you can avoid me – she slices her hand with a sword – From now on whenever your poison acts up then I'll slice myself with this sword. If you're in pain, I'll be in pain with you. If you are to die, then I'll die with you."Si Feng tries to contain his anger: Can you not use your life as a joke?
Xuan Ji cries and pleads: Can you wait for me, just for a bit? Just a bit?Si Feng grabs her for a hug. Omg finally.Si Feng: Xuan Ji, I've waited for you for a long time. You're a bit late. I really was mad. But when you found me, I really was happy.Xuan Ji cries as she hugs him: Then why did you keep pushing me away? Why did you keep saying such harsh words to me?
Bai Lin punishes Teng She by locking him up. However, Jing Long frees him so that Teng She can save Xuan Ji. He knows that if Xuan Ji dies then Teng She will die too because the contract is still there. Jing Long wants to protect his hubby.
Si Feng finds out Xuan Ji is planning to open Liuli Zhan. He stops her. He tells her that if she opens it, she’ll have to go over his dead body.
The sky has changed and when that happens we all know an awesome fight will happen. Teng She arrives to warn the Shaoyang sect to escape because Bai Lin is planning to destroy all of them along with Xuan Ji. However, Bai Lin recaptures Teng She. Shaoyang tribe doesn't escape in time. With his holy voice, Bai Lin reveals himself as the holy god. Xuan Ji finally learns Hao Chen and Bai Lin are one and the same. He’s the man who tortured her.
Xuan Ji: If I become a demon, don’t forget me. Please find me again. Si Feng will never forget Xuan Ji. Si Feng will not be Si Feng without Xuan Ji.
Xuan Ji unseals Liuli Zhan. Her memories as Mo Sha Xin awakens. She's sucked into the vase and disappears. When she reappears, she's no longer the Xuan Ji we all know. She is now a man. His name is Lou Hou Ji Du. S/he was poisoned by Bai Lin and Bai Lin took his soul to create the Warrior God. So Si Feng was in love with a man all along? LOL. When Ji Du moves forward, Si Feng grabs onto him asking for Xuan Ji. He conjures up Si Feng’s hairpin and throws it at Si Feng. Ji Du tells everyone Xuan Ji is gone for good.
Ji Du is back with a vengeance against The Three Realms and Bai Lin. He’s gathered all the demons to draw a war against the celestial palace. Si Feng is within this demon group. He's not here to enlist in the army, he just wants to find traces of Xuan Ji in the current Ji Du. We finally do see Xuan Ji but her soul is trapped inside Ji Du. Ji Du flinches when Xuan Ji slams the invisible walls blocking her from interacting with the world. Si Feng sees Xuan Ji flash in his eyes. Xuan Ji then takes over Ji Du. Si Feng holds his/her hands and tells him/her he doesn’t care what her appearance is. Oh my. However Ji Du was only pretending to be Xuan Ji. Si Feng figures it out almost immediately. When Ji Du tries to attack Si Feng, Xuan Ji stops him internally.
War has begun. Purple Fox takes a fatal attack to protect Wu Zhi Qi. He’s fighting in the war because he can’t accept the gods for hurting his fox. Now that she’s dying, she begs him to step out of the war. He agrees. She has another request: kiss her. He kisses her forehead and soon she dies in his arms. Her last words to him are “I love you” as she vanishes into thin air. Now that she's gone, he finally admits that she is beautiful, very beautiful. Too late, buddy.
Whacko theory: technically Xuan Ji is either asexually reproduced by Ji Du or 'sexually' (lol) by Di Jun and Bai Lin.... If it’s the latter, it explains Bai Lin’s obsession with Xuan Ji to be fatherly (she is his creation after all) but then that would be totally disgusting when I think back to how Hao Chen tried to marry her. My out of whack theory is over.
[Ep59] Si Feng protects the pot from overturning. He can't let this world be destroyed because he wants to protect his memories with Xuan Ji. Yuan Lang fatally strikes him in the heart. Ji Du reaches out to Si Feng. When he's at Si Feng's side, he's in Xuan Ji's form. She tells him she doesn't want him dead. Si Feng, who's spitting more blood, tells her he made a bet with Bai Lin. He knows that she wouldn't destroy the Three Realms because her heart won't allow it. Xuan Ji's heart was warmed by him bit by bit in their ten lives together. Sniffle. He knows her heart better than anyone. What is Emperor Dad doing? Watching everything again? Xuan Ji tries to save him but Si Feng stops her; it's useless, his heart is already severely injured.
Si Feng: It was worth it, my heart recovered your heart. Xuan Ji, look over the Three Realms because it has a lot of our memories. As long as this world exists then our memories will always exist. Can you hear me Xuan Ji? Through these ten lives, I lived happily because I met you every time. Omg, omg, omg, omg.
Xuan Ji looks at the sleeping Si Feng: Si Feng, I saved the Three Realms. Look at me. Please look.
Xuan Ji: I knew you would be back!Si Feng: You're here, how can I not come back?
Xuan Ji stutters: Then I won't change my clothesSi Feng smiles and takes her hand: This matter is something I should do for you. HE. HE. HE.
Si Feng smiles as he holds her face: You just said you'll give me everything. His eyes gleam seductively. Don't regret that. He puts their foreheads together. For a lifetime. Forever. Again, whenever Si Feng says 'lifetime', 'forever' and 'ten lives', it sounds a lot better in Chinese.
Remarks
[First Impression (Ep1-6)] By chance I saw a trailer of this last year (I barely ever watch trailers) and I’ve been waiting for this since then. I’m low-key excited about this. But I’m trying to suppress my expectations, especially when there's at least fifty more episodes to go. I’m not exactly in the mood for a grand-tastical romance but I am after seeing this. Xuan Ji's character reminds me of Jin Mi from Ashes of Love. Both so clueless to love but both so good at making their man dizzy with fuzzy feelings. I really hope there's less annoying tropes though. I glossed over the legend part of this xianxia because I'm still making sense of it. I will fill in as I watch.
[Behind the Scenes / Interviews]
- BTS vids call our couple the "Chu Yu" couple. The characters that are used mean "First Meeting"
- Si Feng (Cheng Yi) and Xuan Ji (Yuan Bing Yan) promoted their drama for Youku by reenacting their kiss scene in Ep15. She actually kissed him on the cheek at the director's request. I watched the live stream after watching Episode 15 so it was cute but still a little cringey.
- Although Cheng Yi looks so serious in the drama, he's a dork in all the BTS.
- Cheng Yi's interview on Chinese Valentine's Day: He's so busy filming he doesn't really have time to watch his own drama. Few things I liked in this interview is him talking about how many times he had to spit blood. He lost count. Me too. Fans are also laughing at him for the way he put the hairpin in Xuan Ji's hair (Ep13). He poked it straight down her head. He asks for forgiveness; it's his first time after all. Then he was also asked about his clenched fists all the time. Si Feng has a lot of pent up emotions and being the introvert he is, he can only clench his fists.
- Ep20 Kiss Scene. Si Feng’s nose is too high. Cheng Yi is so cute not knowing how to angle his pointy nose. He asks the director to not blame something he can’t control. Haha. When Xuan Ji and Si Feng have to manually turn for the camera, Si Feng switches the side he’s supposed to tilt his head to. Without a word, Xuan Ji cranks his head to the correct direction, haha. There’s also the lovable Teng She at the end of the kiss scene here.
- BTS compilation with extra promotional clips. In an interview, Si Feng is asked how many times he had to spit out blood. He doesn’t know. Xuan Ji has her head hung low. She mumbles that she’s guilty. Heh. In this video there's also Teng She, Hao Chen and Ling Long. I love Teng She’s consistency in his acting. He’s always moving his neck like that because he’s imitating a snake (he’s the Snake God). Hao Chen’s appearance was also funny. I like him so much better offscreen than onscreen. Xuan Ji made a clip with Ling Long as well. She calls up her sister to tell her someone pushed her in the hallway. Didn’t know Xuan Ji was a tattletale, heh.
- A music video of all the lives Si Feng and Xuan Ji had together. This is a clearer chronological order of their lives together. I personally went into the drama not knowing they have ten lives together so when I first saw this in Ep27+Ep48, I was pleasantly surprised and fell in love with the drama more.
- Yuan Bing Yan’s interview. Please give this girl more love. She gets a lot of hate for her character in Ep48-50 because of how thoughtless she (her character!) was and also for her lack of emotional acting. I have very different opinions. I thought her acting was really good. In this interview she tells us during the last month of the filming she frequented hospitals because of her fevers. She also takes sleeping pills and the dosage keeps increasing. The interviewer asked her if her sleeping condition has improved. She smiles and replies it hasn’t. She also gives the impression that it’s normal of her to experience these for her career. Some will say she’s fishing for pity (ugh, people!), but when I watch her clips, I see her genuine passion for acting.
- Yuan Bing Yan's OST that aired after the drama finished airing... At least Cheng Yi's OST played during the wedding scene in Ep59 albeit the very last episode.
- BTS for the last kiss scene. Ep59.The director was SO unhappy with it, it was HILARIOUS. Cheng Yi's reaction is golden. He and Yuan Bing Yan were so embarrassed for themselves. The director is like, "Your noses are having a war again." Hahaha.

Final Review
[Review] I highly recommend tuning out all spoilers to enjoy this to the fullest. Hereby this is a warning to those reading my review without having seen the drama. I cannot write this review without spoiling because there’s just so much I want to talk about and I don't want to restrain myself. I'll try to use spoiler tags but I think my entire post will be spoiler-y anyways.
The four years our ChuYu couple spent away from each other was worth it for Xuan Ji to enchant and dazzle him back. In fact, she had to win him back twice in this drama and those were my favourite arcs: making Si Feng uncontrollably in love with her. The first time they separated, he had to seal his heart to save himself because he didn’t think she loved him. The second time, he stayed away to save her. For the first arc, it was delightful watching Xuan Ji win him back because of how innocently cute she was at stirring Si Feng’s heart. In the second arc, it was heart wrenching but the more heart wrenching it was, the more rewarding their reunion was. I felt my heart expand in relief and in joy for that beautiful episode they made up in. Everything was worth it. Ten lifetimes was worth it.
The ultimate joy of this romance is how Si Feng loves Xuan Ji. His love for her never once changed and never once wavered. It only grew stronger. No matter how many times she “betrayed” him or distrusted him, he’ll be there whenever she’s in danger. He’s patient with her, he teaches her, he spoils her, he cherishes her, he exists for Xuan Ji. There’s not a lifetime he hasn’t sacrificed for her. Although she never reciprocated, Si Feng continues to love her more and more. How does one love unconditionally like him? For ten whole lifetimes, he loved her only and lived only for her.
Despite how much Si Feng loved her, it was always Xuan Ji who initiated during the pivotal romantic moments. Si Feng is always doing something secretly that Xuan Ji has no idea of. Xuan Ji had said that each lifetime she did love him back but she only realized it a little too late. I believe that, otherwise Xuan Ji's blue powers wouldn’t have activated whenever Si Feng was in danger because that was before Si Feng even fell in love with her. I wonder if her love for him in the other nine lives is shown in the cut episodes that didn't make it to broadcast. Also, I wish I could see why Si Feng fell in love with her when they were in the celestial realm. After finishing the drama, a part of me is dying to know what happened in the thirteen missing episodes.
Hao Chen/Bai Lin. I continuously ask myself if Hao Chen ever liked Xuan Ji. Since Hao Chen grew the lily lantern he definitely loved someone. I’m still not sure whether the lantern (the lily that lights up) was considered on or off when Xuan Ji was carrying it towards Si Feng though. Personally I believe Hao Chen loves Ji Du. His obsession with God Superiority would not allow him to love and admire Ji Du, a demon. Thus he changed him into a god, a female warrior. He was content with having her just at his side but when Si Feng started changing her, Hao Chen became desperate. He was losing Ji Du/Warrior God. He can’t let that happen. His love turned obsessive and manipulative. He blindsided himself that nothing he can do is wrong if he’s doing it for The Three Realms. I’ll never unhear Hao Chen’s voice when I read those words. I hated this guy but in terms of acting I think it’s a universal sentiment that he’s absolutely appreciated. Liu Xue Yi convinced me to hate him and I happily indulged in that. I do remind myself that it is thanks to his character that Xuan Ji was created. By the way, watch this guy’s promotional videos for the drama. I laughed hysterically.
Ling Long. I know she experienced something tragic but she was so annoying for the latter part of the drama. She never redeemed herself for me.
Wu Tong. Let's not forget him. He’s a tragic character. No one loved him. I wonder how his character would have changed if he had a bit of love. Near the end of his demise I couldn’t hate him (that's why he's not on my hate list). He practically ruined Ling Long’s life but he also saved her. Well technically, she didn’t need saving if he didn’t ruin her. But I still couldn’t hate him completely.
Si Ming. This drama had one of the most annoying Si Ming’s. I usually like him in other versions but this guy is so stupid. Why would he make up stories to thwart our OTP?? This Si Ming is bogus.
Emperor. This guy was exceptionally frustrating. There’s a Chinese saying that describes my feelings “the eunuch is in more of a rush than the emperor”. I am the eunuch anxiously waiting for the Emperor to do something, anything, other than stand around when the world is about to be destroyed to smithereens and his son is dying in front of his eyes.
Ji Du. Seamless. He had five episodes to shine in the end where he had the daunting task to take over the female lead. He integrated himself so well like he always belonged. The could-be romance between him and Si Feng made me shy and giggle. Among the supporting cast, he had the least time but had one of the most impact in the entire drama. I'd say he was second to Hao Chen / Bai Lin.
I like all of Si Feng. Alright. I’ll pick one. Sickly Si Feng in a hooded cape [Ep50-52]. That arc hurt so good. The more pain he felt from rejecting her, the more relief he felt from her love. As much as I love his visuals and pure awesomeness as all the other Si Feng’s, a complete Si Feng to me is when he's with Xuan Ji. Him and Xuan Ji were truly one in those episodes.
Hands down it’s 'Innocent and flirty Xuan Ji'. My two favourite arcs in the drama are her initiating the romance. If anyone picks Ji Du as their favourite Xuan Ji, take my virtual side-eye. Another Xuan Ji I like is when she's powerfully fighting Si Feng. It was kind of cool watching them brace at each other. If they actually fight, I wonder who will win.
