My Sunshine [何以笙箫默] Episode 23

So their thumbs up sign lost the connotation it had before. ):
But the highlight of the episode is Consummation!

Celebrating their honeymoon at Mauritius, Yi Chen’s enjoying his suntan while Mo Sheng’s playing with kids. She comes back to entertain Yi Chen for a while but is asked about Xiao Jia instead. Mo Sheng is surprised and realizes it must have been Ying Hue that told him. She decides to dwell into her story but Yi Chen chickens out once again. Yi Chen, ah Yi Chen, shouldn’t you realize that what she wants to tell you is something good hence why she’s so open about it? Mo Sheng warns him that this will be the last chance she’s willing to tell him otherwise, she’ll forever keep her silence on this. Hey! Didn’t Yi Chen tell her that before? Lol.

She heads back to play with the kids but ends up hurting herself. Yi Chen rushes to tend her. She wonders whether her injury will leave a scar but Yi Chen really doesn’t care. He only cares about her wellbeing, I see. He comforts her that she’s already married so it wouldn’t matter if it looks ugly when she wears a dress.

Back in Shanghai, Xiang Heng’s transformed himself to a nerd otherwise he wouldn’t be able to handle all the cases Yi Chen passed to him. He’s being made fun by Lawyer Yuan but gets interrupted by Yi Mei’s sudden entrance.

Yi Mei barges right into Yi Chen’s office to find that he’s away. She immediately makes a call to Yi Chen determined to reveal the faults in Mo Sheng but is surprised to realize that Yi Chen’s already fully aware of it. She asks him whether he really can put that behind him and he replies, “I will make it so.”

Yi Mei’s heart shatters more than it has already been shattered because Yi Chen would choose a girl who’s divorced (or it’s more fair to say a girl who’s already betrayed him) over her.

Innocent Lawyer Yuan, not knowing Yi Mei’s been left in the dark about his own brother’s marriage, tells her Yi Chen’s on his honeymoon with Mo Sheng. Poor girl can’t control herself as she fails to hold back her tears in front of Lawyer Yuan. And poor Lawyer Yuan for accidentally making a girl cry.

Yuan Feng decides to waste his money and time on Xiao Mei’s movie so he can rightfully criticize her. He goes into the movie excitingly waiting for it to be bad (his logic amazes me).  Yet, he comes out crying ‘cause the movie was that good. However, he’s insistent on it having nothing to do with how well Xiao Mei did her part. He even texts her that she was the only bad thing in the movie. So mature.

Later that evening, Yi Mei returns back to her parent’s home telling her mom that she’s on vacation for a while. She hides in bed and cries to herself under her blanket.  Either it’s been days or it’s later that evening, she receives a call from Yuan Feng. She finally decides to give up on trying to like Yuan Feng. Not that she tried that hard anyways, but she apologizes tearfully to him after confessing she still can’t forget the one she loves.

And we’re back to this couple having the time of their lives. I was going to compliment Mo Sheng for finally having something nicer to wear but I’ve decided against it after seeing a few more shots of it.

However, Yi Chen’s plans are all ruined because Mo Sheng gets herself infected with the flu. Mo Sheng asked him what his plans were. He unabashedly replies that he wanted to consummate their marriage. Not missing a beat, Mo Sheng decides to point up at the ceiling because an airplane will totally appear in their hotel room. Yi Chen’s eyes are fixated on her as Mo Sheng’s squints hers shut from embarrassment. She reminds him in a nasally voice that she’s sick and sinks under the blanket to hide or protect her chastity. Of course, Yi Chen is oblivious that she’s kept her chastity. He keeps a stern watch on Mo Sheng to make sure she goes to bed. Mo Sheng steals one last glance before tightly shutting her eyes. With her eyes closed, Yi Chen’s expression darkens as he wonders whether Mo Sheng knows she’s committed bigamy(?).

Back in Shanghai, Yuan Feng seeks out Xiao Mei and demands to know who is the guy torturing Yi Mei. Xiao Mei fires back at him saying that the guy was already nice enough to put up with the girl for a good decade. She remains firm though on not revealing the identity of the guy.

Xiao Mei also goes out of her way to accompany Yuan Feng because she realized he’s been dumped but of course, she can’t say she wants to comfort him, instead she says she wants to watch him suffer. Honesty is such a rare trait nowadays.

Yuan Feng grumbles at what’s so great about the guy Yi Mei likes. Xiao Mei narrows it down for him: “No matter in looks, charisma, intelligence or success, you can’t compare.” Okay, I guess brute honesty isn’t that rare of a trait. She gets up and moves closer to Yuan Feng, this time she actually says some normal, nice words to a guy who just broke up but he tells her to leave him alone because she doesn’t understand his feelings.

She tells him she’s been dumped herself too. However, that’s not the worst part of it. It was during her breakup days, her grandmother’s illness suddenly took a grave turn and died but she had no idea because she secluded herself from society those few days.

They drink some more (and have quite a bit of stuff to talk about) until Yuan Feng’s pretty much a goner. She even brings him into his own condo but Yuan Feng complains what kind of “brother” she is for ditching him like this. Xiao Mei walks her gangster walk to face Yuan Feng again and answers to his call. And they drink some more.

The next morning, Yuan Feng does a silent scream as he realizes he slept with Xiao Mei. Omg I love this expression. Have I seen a silent scream acted out before? LOL.

And then this is Yuan Feng’s pathetic attempt at hiding from the aroused Xiao Mei. I love you, boy. Xiao Mei’s totally mature about it and even claims to not take responsibility of him.

She steals back her dress from him for which he was using to cover his boxers. (But if you really had to cover, I think you should be covering your butt instead because your windows don’t seem tinted.)  Yuan Feng’s obviously not thinking clearly yet because he’s threatening her that this was actually his first time. So you want her to take responsibility? Xiao Mei freezes for a few seconds and then recapitulates, “I still won’t take responsibility.” LOL.

However, she can’t leave as coolly as she thought because Yuan Feng’s parents just came home. Her best excuse was this: “Hello, I’m here to check your water bill. I’ll be taking my leave now.” She attempts to leave barefooted with her shoes in her hands but realizes she forgot her purse. LOL.
Back in the room, Yuan Feng pretends to sleep but is immediately seen through by his mother. His mother also realizes that the girl is Xiao Mei, the supermodel. Yuan Feng attempts to lie to her but that’s seen through too. His last resort is to hide under the pillow.

So the non-couple have consummated while our married one hasn’t. Mo Sheng’s still sick and complains that she’s bored out of her mind. She begs him to let her out to play by passing each other notes.

He concedes and lets her out for one hour.

Mo Sheng bargains for two hours.

And they have back to back bargains all done in silence.

Yi Chen shuts down the bargaining because the choice now is to not go at all. Mo Sheng rushes to seal the deal for one hour and pulls out her thumbs up.

However, the trip wasn’t entirely fruitless. Yi Chen’s quite a romanticist as he pulls out a necklace with the word “Sunshine” on it. Then they stare at the sun.
