Trivia

• As of 2026, he operates under his own studio.
• Before acting, he worked at Wuhan Xinhua Bookstore, reportedly taking over his father's job (moving books) before enrolling in Central Academy of Drama (中戲)。
• His classmate is…Zhang Han (Class of 2003)
• A late bloomer. His big hits came when he was in his 30s (33): Nirvana in Fire, The Disguiser, Ode to Joy.
• His voice is part of his appeal. Other than, you know, every other appealing part of him. Only one drama had the audacity to dub his attractive low voice.
• The 2017 health scare. That year was a tough one. His father died of lung cancer, and later Wang Kai found a lung nodule (benign) and underwent surgery. And then he slowed down. He deliberately became more selective about his dramas, balancing life and work.
