[Ep2] Shen Man Ning’s identity is almost exposed by Lin Mu Fan (Zhuang corporate’s head designer). He’s the son of Housekeeper Lin Guang Yi, who looks sus. Yan Xing Cheng is at her side, covering every slip up. When they’re alone, he threatens her to watch her every move and if there’s a next time that she messes up, he won’t save her. When she asks for his motives, he strangles her.

[Ep3] Shen Man Ning’s identity is almost exposed by Zhuang Jia Kai (“her” cousin; their mothers are sisters). The man who said he wouldn’t save her saves her with the hottest venipuncture scene of my life. And that’s some crashing skills to knock that exact test-tube in their elevator. However, Shen Man Ning has had enough. Enough hotness?! Noooooo. She wants to quit. Angered, Yan Xing Cheng throws her passport at her, telling her that from now on anything that happens to Zhuang family has nothing to do with her. Yan Xing Cheng moves on to Plan B. He’s kidnapping Chairman Zhuang!

[Ep5] Our lethal man is teasing Shen Man Ning this episode (especially on the bed)! He’s warming up to her. I also love that the roles are reversed when she’s “Zhuang Xin Yan”. In front of everyone he serves her, hehehe.

[Ep7] Our power couple continue to overcome hurdles together. Shen Man Ning is proving to be a brilliant woman, a worthy partner to meet Yan Xin Cheng’s goals (and surely more than that). However, danger is never far. Shen Man Ning is locked in her office where smoke suffuses her room. She passes out. Yan Xing Cheng runs into the building despite the alarm to save her. I’m so shocked at how an elbow to the keypad opens the door. Who needs combos?!?!

[Ep8] After yet surviving another danger with Yan Xin Cheng, Shen Man Ning confesses to him: “I only have you, so let’s be together.” She asks to be formally engaged. But does she actually know the man she wants to be engaged with? He tells her that once they’re engaged, leaving him might never be possible. Frightened, she lets go of his hand, and he leaves the room.
But he turns around to open the door again! And she runs out to open the door! (Double doors, btw). It’s mutual~~ Dramatic romantic scene done deliciously. Shen Man Ning doesn’t know if she’s ready, but she knows she only has him. This is a red flag in a relationship, lol. Anyway. Logic --> Window. He leans into her ears, telling her they’ll engage. After that, he will tell her everything about him.
[Ep9] Tang Lin (evil 2FL) has the nose of a dog. She sniffs out the suspicious relationship between Rao Mei Na and “Zhuang Xin Yan”. She confronts Yan Xing Cheng, and gives him a rose, which he throws away.
The 2nd CP confuses me. I thought it was between FL’s friend, Rao Mei Na and Yuan Shuai, but now there’s an accidental kiss between her and Fan Xiang..... (I kinda like Fan Xiang more. Yuan Shuai can be devoted to looking shuai.)
[Ep10] Shen Man Ning overcomes another hurdle: deciphering Zhuang Xin Yan’s password. Isn’t it too weak of a password if it’s an anniversary/birthday? =.= Anyway. I also can’t believe I didn’t realize sooner the benefits of the eye transplant.
Shen Man Ning is exhausted (from punching in a few numbers) and hugs Yan Xing Cheng, leaning onto him for support. He takes her into his arms, and kisses her. The way his hand was on her back~ That one-handed-pull Phew. She’s so tired, he carries her all the way up the stairs to her room. He lets her sleep on his lap (with hands so close to his crotch!). He also tells her that once he deals with Tang Lin (and her company Liu Guang), he’ll tell her everything. However, before we deal with Tang Lin, we have two problems: 1) Lin Mu Fan (designer) might have already figured it out and 2) Shen Man Ning’s father has seen his daughter!

[Ep11] Lin Mu Fan knows Yan Xing Cheng’s real identity: Yan Yi. We get a glimpse of what’s under the ring: a scar. It was Lin Mu Fan who injured him when they were kids. Yan Yi / Yan Xing Cheng is the son of Zhuang family, which means he’s Zhuang Xin Yan’s brother. Why do they have different last names? The way it’s worded, it seems Mother Zhuang is alive?
2nd CP is in a love triangle. Fang Xiang indirectly confesses, but Rao Mei Na rejects him because she loves Yuan Shuai.
Tang Lian is sinister. She’s killing Italian doctors for Zhuang Xin Yan's medical record. Nooo, not the Italian doctors. She’s making Shen Man Ning eat mango – nooo, not the mangos – because she’s allergic.

[Ep12] Shen Man Ning hides her allergic reaction (hives and shortness of breath). Yan Xing Cheng helps her induce vomiting and cools her down with water from the shower, but blocks most of it so she’s not too cold. I guess when you don’t have an epipen on you, and you have a hidden identity, this is the treatment for allergic reactions.............. In the morning, she recovers. She kisses him. She says it’s to thank him for saving her. Yan Xing Cheng is as still as a picture and as pretty as a picture. He breaks his stillness to place the glass of water back on the table so that his hands are free to push her down to the bed and to devour her lips. If I was the director, I’d tell him to drop the glass. Or better yet, squeeze it until the glass breaks to express his uncontrollable desire to devour her. And then the white bed will be bloody.....Mmmm. This is probably why I’m not a director. After the kiss, he asks her why she risked her life. “For you.” And for Zhuang Xin Yan.
Tang Lin is obsessively in love with Yan Xing Cheng and so what does an evil 2FL do? Scheme against Yan Xing Cheng. All her plans fail though, except kidnapping Shen Man Ning’s father. Shen Man Ning runs in front of the car to stop the kidnapper. Yan Xing Cheng flies to rescue her. Tang Lin’s brother appears from nowhere and slaps his sister. Meanwhile Shen Man Ning is unconscious where cherry blossoms are falling. Where the CP falls, there must be grass and a cherry blossom tree. But what are those petals?! That’s an entire flower hahaha.
[Ep13] Secret is out! Hidden identities, no more! Poor Grandpa Zhuang, though: lost his granddaughter and found out his grandson suffered like this. The last person to know the truth is Shen Man Ning (because she was unconscious). She asks him if this is their end, and here comes our favourite line: “We don’t belong in the same world.” She realizes he doesn’t need her anymore, in fact, he never needed her. He laughs hollowly, and agrees with her that the game is over. They no longer owe each other. *Thunders* Huge shower. The amount of water this drama is wasting... lol. Shen Man Ning rips off her engagement ring and bites his finger, yes the finger with the ring. How many scars does a man need? He takes the pain silently while his heart bleeds.
[Ep14] Without Shen Man Ning, Yan Xing Cheng (or Yan Yi) is having nightmares. Aw, he’s sleeping on the couch, leaving the bed for Shen Man Ning even though she’s not here. And without Shen Man Ning, he agrees to marry Tang Lin for work purposes!! And now Shen Man Ning is fooled into a truck supposedly by the same kidnapper from Italy. Will Yan Xing Cheng, another woman’s fiancé, save Shen Man Ning in time? Meanwhile the 2nd CP love triangle continues: Rao Mei Na confesses to Yuan Shuai who rejects her. Fang Xiang overhears it. P.S. Bring back the glasses!
[Ep15] Yan Xing Cheng dives into the water to save Shen Man Ning. I love his running posture, but I didn’t know there was that much space to run. For the woman he loves, he overcomes his deepest trauma – submerged in water. He had drowned as a kid and this is the nightmare that haunts him every night. After saving her, he’s barely standing, but made sure her head wouldn’t fall onto the ground (sand). Finally, he collapses. He may have faced his fears, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t traumatic. It’s real water, a big body of water. Admirable! But a part of me wishes they didn’t. Doesn’t look pretty with their hair floating upwards xD. When Shen Man Ning wakes up at the hospital, she doesn’t remember who saved her. Lin Mu Fan hides the truth and so does Yan Xing Cheng. If even he isn’t clarifying it, should I blame the conniving 2ML? Ya. However! She finds his ring in her belongings, and remembers everything. And just in time to crash the engagement party with “I object!” Omona. That was cool of her. I’m also proud of Tang Lin for giving Yan Xing Cheng a chance to back out. I’m surprised it was Lin Mu Fan who talked some sense into her. Does he like her? Confused.

[Ep16] Fang Xiang and Yuan Shuai clear the security guards for Shen Man Ning. All eyes are on her, especially Yan Xing Cheng’s. Even Grandpa Zhuang is smiling! But hold on a second. That’s like watching his grandson and granddaughter date... ANYWAY. Shen Man Ning professes her love and vows that she will be at his side, always and forever.
Shen Man Ning: Put on this ring and you are mine. One of these days, I will return and steal you back.No need. He picks her up into his arms in front of everyone.Yan Xing Cheng: You’re leaving just like that after you put on the ring?Shen Man Ning (in shock): You mean...? Girl, you’re already in his arms.Yan Xing Cheng: I’m (already) yours.
They run away to kiss by the sea. He wants a kiss everywhere, both cheeks, and the place she bit – his finger. Later after the fireworks, she reverse-dongs him, pinning him to the fence. She asks if he loves her. He tilts her chin, and backs her down. “What do you think?” He seals her lips with a kiss. But we want to hear it!

[Ep17] The enemies are after the seal that can activate Mother Zhuang’s stock rights. Mother Zhuang left the seal on Zhuang Xin Yan’s body(?), which they now suspect is with Shen Man Ning, which explains the thief was at her place previously. Currently, hitmen are after her in the underground parking lot, but – oho! – not with Yan Xing Cheng following closely, triggering the most orgasmic fight scene. I’ve never felt so hormonal for a scene that was this corny. My cheeks are warm from laughing and squealing, LOL. How did the director even conceive this?! Director is HIGH. With mad skills! In concept, this is already ridiculous, but my oh my, Mr. Lethal, the sleekest man to exist with a tie has been born. The fight scene of 2023.

[Ep18] The “seal” is stolen. Yan Xing Cheng chases after the thief and tells Shen Man Ning to stay put. However, she asks Tang Lin for a lift (because she’s conveniently in the area). And girl, he told you to stay put! And of all people you ask Tang Lin!? Is your life too short for you?! And now we’re at a cargo hold where the thief throws the seal into the car, locks the car, and then sprints for it. Get ready, peeps. More tie?! Ah. No, it’s Yan Xing Cheng’s trusty elbow that breaks anything (remember that door combo lock?). He shatters the car window to retrieve the seal BUT OMG A CAR IS FALLING FROM ABOVE.
P.S. Fan Zhi Xin was injured in this scene. The window shattering is real, he avoided the shards, but not the nail at the rims. Then glass shards (I’m hoping it’s safety glass) were in the wound. But he said it didn’t hurt at all )':

[Ep19] When Shen Man Ning thought Yan Xing Cheng was crushed under the cars, the man appears from above. BWAHAHAHAHA. He has wings, you guys didn’t know that? For Shen Man Ning, he will survive anything. However, it seems it’s her father who killed his parents in the collision 17 years ago?!
→ Tang Lin has redeemed herself!
→ Apparently, Yuan Shuai is loyal like a wolf and our Mr. Lethal has earned his devotion during their fighting youth days. Therefore, he has no capacity for love. Cool, lol. And here is the perfect segue into their names. Shuai sounds like Commander-in-chief and Xiang sounds like Minister. They are Yan Xing Cheng’s right-hand men.
In the BTS, neither of them knew how to tie the tie and the director was like “It’s over” LMAO.

[Ep21] While Yan Xing Cheng’s world has been thrown into a turbulent mess (that he’s not his mother’s son and his dead grandfather is not his dead grandfather), his right-hand men are busy resolving their love triangle (is Yuan Shuai giving up his love for Fang Xiang?) and leaving their master Yan Xing Cheng crumbling on his own!!! Loyal wolf? Bull. Our Mr. Lethal is committing suicide! At the critical times, trust that the women will have your back. Shen Man Ning saves him, but he’s unconscious.
Yan Xing Cheng hasn’t regained consciousness and is now in a seizure. A picture enters his focals. When he wakes up, he walks toward the sketch of a hand saving a boy from the ocean. The sketch speaks to his soul, his very broken soul. He cries on the floor, and then a hand reaches out to him. Shen Man Ning is saving him from drowning again, this time it’s his soul.
[Ep22] Yan Xing Cheng is catatonically depressed. He’s traumatized that he lost everything. Please stop crying. Please recover your hotness! Bring back the suits! Shen Man Ning reminds him he still has her and his friends. He cries on her shoulder, hugging her. She asks him if he’s sure he wants to surrender like this. Can he give up Zhuang Family like this? No matter what hardships are ahead, she will always stand with him. He’s encouraged. He kisses her, and finally tells her he loves her. They make love with the blurriest filter and weirdest glare. None of my screenshots look like anything.
Tang Lin has found a middle-aged lady on a wheelchair at a nursing home overseas. (It’s Mother Zhuang.)

[Ep23] Shen Man Ning apologizes for her father’s crime, but her father committed no crime! The heck. Dude, now you talk. The mastermind is Aunt Zhuang. I don’t know how they narrowed it down to her by cleaning the board, lol. And sorry Assistant Lin, I doubted you. Yan Xing Cheng exacts his revenge. The suit is back! The hair is gelled! First, with his unlimited wealth, he becomes the CEO of the company, ripping the position from his cousin. Then it’s Aunt Zhuang’s turn, but first, he uses a golf club to rip the painting of the ocean.
Mother Zhuang is back! So she can talk. And she can stand! Then why was she gone for so many years! Does she actually remember everything? She tells Aunt Zhuang that Grandpa loved her the most. If they loved her that much, how did Aunt Zhuang misunderstand so badly that she’d murder them all?! I’m so confused. It seems Mother Zhuang has forgiven or was never mad (?) at Auntie Zhuang for murdering her daughter, husband, and father. What happens to Aunt Zhuang afterwards? I know not.
Anyway. Hurray, Yan Xing Cheng has family! A mother.
Some time later, the garden is fertile. Very fake Roses bloom. They’re a pair.
Yan Xing Cheng can cherish his life now, cherish the people he loves and the people who love him.

Remarks
[First Impression (Ep1-10)] It’s not obvious, but I’m infatuated with Mr. Lethal. I saw the kiss in Ep10. A “woah” escaped from my mouth.
The story almost doesn’t matter, but I’m happy to report that it’s a very watchable mid-tier makjang about revenge and switched identities. The FL is unbelievably naive though to commit her entire livelihood for a stranger even if she saved her life.
I LOVE that I can see the gradual softening of our ML without losing his dark edge.
OST is eargastic too.

[Actors/Actresses] Rise, Fan Zhi Xin! He doesn’t always have luck with his dramas, but he’s always been a solid character. For more of him, I'd recommend Childe Xie’s Wine, My Girl, and Mountains and Oceans. M&O is one of the weirdest dramas I’ve seen, but it’s quite the experience. If you spoil yourself for the ending, your experience should be better than mine.
