[Ep2] Luo Na will be his coach~ She demands unconditional trust from Duan Yu Cheng, not knowing she’ll receive more than just trust. Looooooooove. This boy is getting butterflies from the lightest of her touch.

[Ep3] Duan Yu Cheng twists his ankle because Shi Yin (a girl who likes him) poked him. Girl, how dare you poke our ML! Oh and then he’s crushed under a big guy. Poor ankle, lol. He hides the injury from Luo Na to participate in the high jump event. He has to clear a certain height to be accepted on the team. He insists on his bad ankle, but not on Luo Na’s turf. Luo Na piggybacks Duan Yu Cheng to orthopaedics. So caring! But then she refuses to be his coach. He has lost her trust.

[Ep4] This episode Duan Yu Cheng is definitely wooing his girlfriend coach. He really wants her back. To him, she’s the only one who believes he can do it. She knows more than anyone else how much he loves high jump. He believes that love compared to anything physical (e.g. his short height of 182cm...) is the most important. And it’s this speech that moves her. She forgives him. (I just noticed this is set in 2015. I don’t mind time jumps, but can we not have a COVID-19 arc...).

[Ep5] Duan Yu Cheng fails to clear 210m. He’s rejected by the head coach. Luo Na keeps him on the school team for another event (100m), which he’s also excellent at. Of course. To the other students like Jiang Tian (a high-jumper) it looks like Duan Yu Cheng is getting special treatment from Luo Na. Rumour even has it that she received his money (she didn’t, but she is getting some light pressure for DYC’s sweet cheery mother to coach only her son).
What is wrong with Jiang Tian T_T. The way he’s agitated with himself and his sudden outburst makes me cry. Boy what happened to you! Jiang Tian is nervous whenever he competes. He doesn’t know what’s wrong. It’s as if the rod is like a mountain that crushes his lungs. Dai Yu Xia comforts him.
[Ep6] It’s the finals. For stress relief, Duan Yu Cheng takes Luo Na to an arcade. This guy is not nervous. Luo Na stops at the door, reluctant to enter. He throws an imaginary rope and lassos her in and right on cue, she drags her feet inside. After he’s all relaxed (this guy was never nervous), our Duan Yu Cheng turns serious.

High jump time! Duan Yu Cheng stands next to his competitor. On the benches, Wu Ze (track coach; Duan Yu Cheng’s supposed love rival) whispers to Luo Na that Duan Yu Cheng is good all around except his height. It’s the head coach who tells him to shut up. LOL. He might be more nervous than Luo Na. He’s the one who’s always yapping about his height and now he has no choice but to be supportive of Duan Yu Cheng. When Wu Ze continues to critique Duan Yu Cheng’s form, Luo Na tells him to zip it. Everyone is more nervous than the one who’s actually competing.

While everyone is at the edge of their seat, Duan Yu Cheng is basking in the tension. Our boy dazzles in competitions! After seeing his competitor stumble, he decides to skip his turn at 2.09m and challenge again at 2.12m. His coach approves. It’s a risky move! But it’s a psychological battle against his competitor. Duan Yu Cheng even slides his thumb across his neck for the camera to see. Oh is the bet worth it! Duan Yu Chen struggled at 2.10m in the last episode!!!! Fly Duan Yu Cheng, fly!!
But Duan Yu Cheng fails his first two tries. One more fail and he’ll lose because he has no scores between 2.09-2.12m when his opponent does. Third and last jump! He remembers what he said to Luo Na: making her proud. Then he hears the sea and seagulls. Seagulls eh. It’ll be a cinch then. He’s surrounded by imaginary water (water? Why water? So much resistance). Like a seagull, he flies. When he opens his eyes, the rod is still above him. His opponent failed his third try. Duan Yu Chen is the champion! Indeed, he has become Luo Na's pride!

The team asks Duan Yu Cheng if he’s still treating. Nope. He takes Luo Na and flees. He asks her if he’s her pride yet. She doesn’t have time to answer because he assures her he will always be her pride.
[Ep7] Another school’s coach wants Duan Yu Cheng, but our guy recognizes only one coach, Luo Na, and he plans to be together with her forever.
Zhang Hong Wen (a track teammate) inserts a needle in Duan Yu Cheng’s shoes! He’s a jealous loser who can’t accept Duan Yu Cheng is better than him. He’s caught and doesn’t regret his actions. With no background, he had no chance anyway. He refuses to apologize. Luo Na almost fights the loser had it not been Wu Ze. Also, Wu Ze doesn’t seem to like it when she loses her cool for Duan Yu Cheng.
Duan Yu Cheng’s injury is minor and it’s only on the heels, which won’t affect running. Hm. Was Zhang Hong Wen aware of this? The doctor is more worried for his psychological health, but this is Duan Yu Cheng we’re talking about. His heart is too big for small matters like this. He wins silver and beats his personal best with 10.77s.
The head coach (Coach Wang) wants Luo Na to convince Duan Yu Cheng to switch to track. Duan Yu Cheng, despite winning gold, isn’t competitive at the world stage. Ultimately, he’s too short.
Jiang Tian gets teased by the boys because of Dai Yu Xia. He seems bothered and clarifies that she’s four years older than him. Duan Yu Cheng doesn’t like the stigma on a guy dating an older girl. What’s wrong with being four years older? Girls have a higher average life span, which means as spouses, they can die together. Lol. Okay. He’s also a little drunk btw.
Luo Na might just be jealous when Duan Yu Cheng’s mother assumes her son likes Shi Yin. (She might also be perplexed about the head coach’s orders.) Duan Yu Cheng swears to Lou Na that he doesn’t like Shi Yin. He gives her his first medal which he won at a competition for 12 year-olds when he was only 9. He was the shortest, but he beat all the taller guys. Height will be an hurdle he will jump over for his passion. Age will be a stigma he will overcome for love as well. From now on, he will give her all his medals. Forever Love fans, Wang An Yu doesn’t change! xD As Jiang Zheng Han, he also gave Xia Lin Xi his medal and told her her that from now, all his honours are hers¹.
[Ep8] Luo Na is flustered with Duan Yu Cheng’s proximity. Meanwhile she has completely friendzoned Wu Ze who clearly likes her.
Luo Na tells Duan Yu Cheng about switching events. He knows about it. For the past month, he hasn’t improved while his taller buddy, Liu Shan, has. Duan Yu Cheng doesn’t care what others think, but he hopes that Luo Na can believe in him. She does. But what will happen when Coach Wang wants to recruit a new member?
[Ep9] Mao Mao Qi is a natural. He doesn’t even have the right steps or acceleration and he just floats over 2.10m without even brushing the line. His appearance is crushing for Duan Yu Cheng. No matter how hard he works at high jump, it looks like a dead end for him. But Duan Yu Cheng can’t even hate his rival, especially when Mao Mao Qi is cutely wagging after him with his shaggy hair. Mao Mao Qi is more like a puppy than Duan Yu Cheng is.
Luo Na compliments Duan Yu Cheng for jumping over 2.14m. Subsequently, Mao Mao Qi clears 2.18m with ease. Oof. Luo Na comforts Duan Yu Cheng, which makes him feel worse. She never praised him. She always critiqued him no matter how well he jumped because she knew he could improve, but now she thinks she has no chance against Mao Mao Qi. She’s compensating with her empty kindness.
[Ep10] Duan Yu Cheng throws a child tantrum at Luo Na for not recommending him for the competition. Then Luo Na vents to Coach Wang for making her write the recommendation letter and hangs up on him. He then continues to read his manga. You know what, I now like this head coach. He’s chill when he’s chill and sticks to his principles when he needs to.
Luo Na has other plans for Duan Yu Cheng! She isn’t giving up on him. Her father had said a good coach will give her all to support her athlete who unconditionally trusts her and together, they will create a miracle. Last episode, she recruited Coach Yang Jin to train Duan Yu Cheng. He’s a coach for combined events (e.g. pentathlons, decathlons). Ouuuu yess! I totally forgot about this! He can compete in multiple events and still keep his high jump. They’re all-rounders. Duan Yu Cheng has two events in his pocket .
At the competition, Mao Mao Qi scissors kicks over 2.00m. This guy basically stood and hopped over 2m. Everyone is amazed, they’re standing and cheering, but this guy is just thinking of what to eat after. This guy.
Duan Yu Cheng gets 2nd at 100m. He was beaten by Zhang Hong Wen who is now representing another school. I’m glad Duan Yu Cheng didn’t punch him on the field after his provocation. DYC, do punch him elsewhere and don’t get caught. (Lol). Luo Na reports Zhang Hong Wen for doping, using her career as collateral. She knows he cannot improve so much in such a short amount of time. (By inference (because I don’t know the actual rules), since she has no proof, she has to put something on the line for the regulators to retest Zhang Hong Wen). She’s only an assistant coach – her career doesn’t cost much apparently. Wu Ze steps in as the track coach to report Zhang Hong Wen. If results are negative, Wu Ze will take all the responsibility.
[Ep11] Wu Ze did not lose his job. This means Zhang Hong Wen doped and first place belongs to Duan Yu Cheng. However, when asked if he’ll return to training, all he wants to know is if Luo Na wants him back. I don’t like Duan Yu Cheng in this episode. His brain is consumed by love. I wished he thought about his athletic career more, but show is focusing a lot on romance instead. After Luo Na tells him he no longer dazzled as much, he drowns himself in alcohol, and drowns himself... He jumps off a bridge. He actually attempted to commit suicide?! The words he said to Luo Na float back to him: Coach, I want to be your pride. He snaps him back to reality and swims back to shore (however far that is) to find Luo Na while his poor friends are grieving, thinking he died. And there’s a whole rescue team wasting their time.
Luo Na manages to find Duan Yu Cheng (all wet). He cries. I mean, he can’t be more wet. He apologizes and asks to be forgiven. Duan Yu Cheng, your puberty and hormones have disappointed me, but seeing you cry like this makes my heart clench. He doesn’t want to leave track. He doesn’t want to leave what he loves (her). She hugs him and holds his face to get him to look at her. She’s mad not because he won’t change events. She’s mad because he gave up so easily. It was just one competitor and one competition. Now he sobs. He said he tried his best. He's afraid of losing. He’s really afraid of losing.
Our big shortie is wailing in Luo Na's arms. She tells him to get up, but he won’t until she forgives him. Oh, child. Now he wants her to take back her words (about dazzling). What words? She can’t remember, and he’s like “Are you a fish?!” Then he falls asleep, inebriated.
Touch~ (This finger touch reminds me of Love Between Fairy and Devil when Rong Hao (disguised as Chang Heng) touches the sky, one of my many favourite CGI moments in the drama. Oh hey, it’s the same director).
A kiss too?
[Ep12] Duan Yu Cheng has a lot of apologizing to do – his friends (who searched the waters for him all night) and his teammates. Everyone eventually forgives him. I like how chill Jiang Tian is in welcoming him back and then how Mao Mao Qi jumps him to hug him xD. Liu Shan is being nasty, adding salt to his injury that he jumps the lowest now, but he’s elated that he’s back too.
Luo Na finally tells Duan Yu Cheng her plans for him: to train as a decathlon. Then he learns how much she went through for him to convince the coach. He cries. He’s thoroughly moved. He thought he couldn’t do high jump anymore but Luo Na found a way to keep it for him.
Duan Yu Cheng wants to kiss Luo Na again. Okay... And he does!
And she wakes up! He runs, but forgets his books. Frazzled, he returns, and then resumes fleeing.
Duan Yu Cheng is becoming an unlikable ML for me. Too jealous. No consent. But story-wise, his character makes sense. If he wasn’t selfish and spoiled (by his mother, I assume), he wouldn’t have such a big heart in pursuing whatever he wants and then when he can’t, he breaks down like a child. He's got a lot of learning to do, not just in sports.
[Ep13] Coach Yang Jin is very happy about Duan Yu Cheng. It’s like when Coach Wang found Mao Mao Qi. Duan Yu Cheng is a diamond in the rough for decathlon. But Duan Yu Cheng is more concerned about Luo Na and her reaction to the kiss than to his own training for an event that was so hard to come by. Sigh. I – your romance addict – am sighing about the romance.
Luo Na is excited to see Duan Yu Cheng (but she doesn’t show it). As for Duan Yu Cheng, he pretends to be cool while half-naked. At least I think he’s pretending. He smiles, relieved that she's finally willing to see him. She orders him to wear his shirt so that she can talk to him properly. He wears it backwards, making her laugh when she’s supposed to be angry. An adlib of his? He explains [the kiss] was a small matter, which makes her angrier. He tries to clarify and then he realizes it’s her first kiss. She immediately answers, “Of course....not!” He laughs at how she can’t lie. Then he tells her, “I like–” but before he can finish, she’s running forward with a hand ready to slap him, lol. She reminds him that she’s older than him. But he doesn’t care about that. Then she reminds him she’s his coach, and he’s silent. After she leaves him, he mumbles that it was his first kiss too.
Dai Yu Xia wants to retire because of Jiang Tian. They’re dating. But why quit? Because he’s quitting. They plan to open a restaurant together. If she is a professional athlete, she’ll have to leave him for prolonged periods. He’s not the type who can withstand being alone. Luo Na asks about his education. Dai Yu Xia laughs. “Does he look like he can study?” Oh girl, so much sacrifice for him D: Nooooooo! Luo Na wants to help them and asks Wu Ze if his renovation friend can help out Jiang Tian.
[Ep14] Dai Yu Xia is in sports because she had a crush on Jiang Tian back in high school. Duan Yu Cheng thinks it’s right to compromise but between couples they should support each other’s dreams. Meanwhile Jiang Tian had no idea she was planning to quit for him. He’s against it. Phew.
Duan Yu Cheng texts Luo Na, “When are you coming back to see me?” And then belatedly adds, “And the rest of us.” This makes her smile. She’s away because she’s with Wu Ze, caring for his coach. He was like a father to him too. Wu Ze thinks he failed as a son and an athlete, unable to bring him glory. Now he’s in the ICU.
Mao Mao Qi doesn’t show up at the airport for the competition! Duan Yu Cheng postpones his flight to find him. When the car breaks down too, Duan Yu Cheng walks his way to Mao Mao Qi's home. It turns out Mao Mao Qi is afraid of losing and then being discarded. Duan Yu Cheng uses himself as an example. He never got first place (yet) but he’s still on the team. Mao Mao Qi says it’s different because he gets special treatment from Luo Na. Even this kid (who sleeps in a make-shift car) can tell Luo Na likes Duan Yu Cheng.
The competition! Duan Yu Cheng is a decathlete. His four runs are 100m, 200m, 400m, and 1500m. His three jumps are long jump, high jump, and pole vault. His three throws are shot put, discus, and javelin. He comes in 7th for his first ever competition, which is quite a feat given his short training period.
[Ep15] Wu Ze is grieving for his coach’s death. Luo Na hugs him. Then he tries to kiss her but she avoids him.
Duan Yu Cheng returns earlier than the team to see Luo Na quicker. He gives her a present: a recording of his competition (which he could have sent as a file but he gave her an entire video recorder). Then he straight up asks her if she’s dating Wu Ze. If she is, that will be problematic because he likes her. Luo Na is exasperated as she reminds him of their age. He knows he’s 20 and in two more years, he can marry. Someone’s serious. (Btw, Luo Na is 28). I just noticed it’s been two years in the drama already...so it’s 2017?
Mao Mao Qi is leaving. He’ll be joining the national team.
Jiang Tian opened his noodle bar (Jiang Xia Noodle). By the way, Dai Yu Xia is not quitting shot put (phew). Business is good, but Zhang Hong Wen and his friends make fun of Dai Yu Xia’s figure in front of Jiang Tian. The boys lash out at each other. Then Zhang Hon Wen swings a beer bottle at Luo Na who’s trying to stop the fight. Duan Yu Cheng, full of hormones, blocks it and punches the lights out of Zhang Hong Wen. After Dai Yu Xia calls the police, the aggressors flee. Wu Ze (who runs pretty himself) catches Zhang Hong Wen. Meanwhile Duan Yu Cheng catches the other guy. They basically raced each other across the city. This inspires Wu Ze to recruit the guy. He’s Li Ge.
Wu Ze offers Li Ge a deal. He won’t have to pay for the restaurant’s damages if he beats Duan Yu Cheng at 100m. Wu Ze also threatens Duan Yu Cheng to win or else he’ll propose to Luo Na. LOL. That sure fires up Duan Yu Cheng to run his best. Clever Duan Yu Cheng then makes Luo Na promise him something if he wins. Li Ge has no idea he’s being used by so many people. Li Ge loses, but he’s competitive and demands for more races, and he keeps losing. Nonetheless, Li Ge is the next track star. Wu Ze’s eyes are glistening at him.
[Ep16] Duan Yu Cheng confronts Luo Na about dating. Once again, she reminds him she's 28 and he's only turning 20. He makes her look into his eyes to tell him she doesn’t like him. She stares at him but breaks eye contact almost immediately. She walks off angrily. An also angry Duan Yu Cheng, who wants her back, runs after her, but she boards the bus. Well hello, our guy is a sprinter! He runs after the bus for one full stop. It’s only 1000m. Short of breath, he asks her, “What are you running for?” Says the runner xD. She deflects his question by ordering him to study and train. In her coach tone, she also orders him to sit farther. He’s very obedient. The people on the bus have no reaction. NPCs, at least pretend to be acting and turn your heads to the commotion.
Duan Yu Cheng visits Luo Na to convince her to visit his parents – as a coach. She casually asks what his parents like – as a coach. He gets a little too chummy, annoying Luo Na who pushes him out of her condo. Cue embarrassment: she drops her lingerie (it’s a camisole) from her sweater that was part of the mess she was trying to hide from him.
Head Coach Wang approves Li Ge’s acceptance on the condition that he wins the competition or else both him and Wu Ze will leave the team. Since we’re on the topic of Wu Ze, he seems to have given up on Luo Na who is obviously in love with Duan Yu Cheng.
Luo Na dresses up to see Duan Yu Cheng–'s parents. She asks him to behave and keep his little love to himself. He’s offended but compromises. Each day, she can only strike him once with her sharp words. Today she used up her quota. If he offended her, it must be him incorrectly expressing himself, but offending her is not his intention. And he also corrects her (because she has offended him).
Duan Yu Cheng: Please respect my feelings. You don’t have to like me, but don’t belittle my love. I’ll be sad if you do. Moreover, I don’t think you don’t like me. Oh this is more like it, Duan Yu Cheng! But he’s also really childish, making her eat the crawfish he peeled just because he’s jealous Wu Ze did that for her
Luo Na clarifies that she isn’t belittling his feelings. She wants him to focus on his training. Duan Yu Cheng says he has it all under his control. Meanwhile it’s this girl who’s losing control of all her belongings. She keeps dropping her things – her ID, her phone, and her hair tie. Duan Yu Cheng is cleaning up after her.
[Ep17] Luo Na and Duan Yu Cheng have arrived at his place, but his parents are absent. Sneaky guy. They’ll be here tomorrow morning. As for the night, it’s for him to impress her with his culinary skills. It’s professional looking spaghetti. Honestly, I like ramen better, lol. It would also be more filling than that spoonful of noodle. After dinner Duan Yu Cheng cleans up the guest room for her while Luo Na is in his room...smelling his pillow. He catches her doing that! But does he realize what she was doing? They spend the night like that in separate rooms, restraining their swelling feelings.
In the morning, Duan Yu Cheng gives Luo Na her breakfast by her door. That tray was on the floor and now it’s on her bed! Aye. He also gives her a mask that he made and drew her a map so that she can explore his hometown. It’s also a map to find him. He’s diving and gives her a pearl. I am a naive sea person. Tell me that isn’t true. Can I just go diving and find a pearl too? She finds the pearl pretty, but he finds her prettier. She’s so pretty, he kisses her. She doesn’t resist him and he kisses her again. They make out on the beach. The apple from her hand drops. And she has fallen for the temptation. But she runs away. Not for long though! She finally admits she likes him too. Duan Yu Cheng is stunned into silence.
Luo Na: I like you. it’s the same as you.
Our boy is stunned to tears as well! What was his horoscope again? The one that’s emotional. He wants to hug her. But knife! He’s holding a knife! He’s too muddled in tears to realize that until Luo Na is shouting about it. Finally, he puts the knife away to embrace her. Still crying. They’re official! But she has her rules. If their relationship affects his training then she’ll break up with him. After she graduates, she will leave the university. There’s no buts. She still doesn’t think it’s right for him to date when he’s such a young athlete, but she likes him enough to risk that. She wants to try if she can be a positive influence to him.
The parents have arrived! Luo Na accidentally calls the mom “Mom”. I feel like the father saw through our couple’s relationship. And it seems like he’s the one who’s usually cooking. The cheery mom approves – her son’s ambitions in sports. As long as Duan Yu Cheng wants it, she and his father will support him. However, Mom Duan turns serious almost like it’s a scary movie when she confirms with Luo Na that no matter when and where, Luo Na will only do things good for his future. Okay. The parents must know.
[Ep18] After Duan Yu Cheng sends Luo Na to the port, he’s back home where his parents confront him. They know he's dating Luo Na, but they can’t utter a word against him. Duan Yu Cheng gets the say in the family on his own love life.
Li Ge is Wu Ze’s bane of existence. They must have been enemies in their past life. Li Ge is under the impression that Wu Ze is using him. He’s also a keen guy and picks up on the fact that Wu Ze likes Luo Na. I like Li Ge’s smirk.
Duan Yu Cheng shows Luo Na fireworks on New Year's Eve. (It’s winter vacation so DYC is at home with his parents and she’s at uni.) When they actually see each other after winter vacay, she’s not that sweet even though he folded her stars and wrote her a love letter. The only present she needs from him is his training. Then when he’s training, Luo Na takes out the letter. Duan Yu Cheng can be in literature too. Luo Na tears up from all the love.
[Ep19] Duan Yu Cheng pretends to be sick to get Luo Na to take care of him. Then they roll around on the floor.
Speaking of promises, Duan Yu Cheng swears that he will make Luo Na believe that all her choices are right. He won’t disappoint her. Luo Na is pleasantly surprised at his steadfast sincerity. She finds him handsome, and now he wants to know exactly where he’s handsome...because he knows exactly where she’s beautiful. Her forehead. It’s perfect for ponytails. She was in a ponytail the first time he saw her. But the prettiest is her eyes. And that’s when he took off her sunglasses. He tells her to carefully consider his handsomeness (and then tell him later).
Duan Yu Cheng and Li Ge train together. Their rivalry pushes them forward.
Dun Yu Cheng works hard and dates hard. He plans the perfect date for Luo Na, doing all things she likes by researching her social media posts. This is what she likes ↓

[Ep21] It was Duan Yu Cheng’s mom who notified Head Coach Wang that our couple is dating! :O The coach wants Luo Na to break up with Duan Yu Cheng for his academic and athletic future. It’s not a mandate (because that’s not the coach’s style), but a strong recommendation. Luo Na refuses. She bargains instead that Duan Yu Cheng can date and improve. If he doesn’t score 7400pts, Luo Na will leave her post.
Duan Yu Cheng doesn’t know of the bet while Decathlon Coach Yang is only aiming for 7200pts. Oops, lol. The next day, Luo Na phones Head Coach Wang if she can lower it to 7250pts. Haha. It’s no coincidence she chose 250 to mean she’s a fool.
During training, Duan Yu Cheng loses his temper because he’s not performing as well. Did he find out about the bet? Duan Yu Cheng wants to apologize for his temperament, but before he speaks, Luo Na hugs him. She knows comfort is what he needs right now.
Other happenings:
→ Decathlon Coach Yang is oblivious to Duan Yu Cheng and Luo Na dating. He’s so blind, lol.
→ Liu Shan is quitting high jump? Not quite. He’s looking for a backup because he feels he can’t improve his jumps.
→ Li Ge is looking nervous for his race.
[Ep22] Duan Yu Cheng clears 2.2m high jump, which successfully pulls him apart from the other decathletes. However, it might not be enough to clutch gold. Still, Coach Yang is surprised and proud of Duan Yu Cheng.
Li Ge runs his first official race! It’s actually kinda exciting watching Wu Ze being so nervous at the sidelines. Li Ge gets his first gold with a remarkable time at 10.29s. Aw, Wu Ze is crying! Good actor. *Sniffles*. It’s one second apart from Wu Ze’s best at 10.28s. Awwwwww.
Mom Duan is here to confront Luo Na! She’ll accept anything except breaking up. Mom Duan can’t seem to win against Luo Na in arguing, lol. Interrupting the tit for tat exchange, Duan Yu Cheng protects his girlfriend (who didn’t need it). To his surprise, Luo Na is hollering at him even more fiercely than Mom Duan is. I think it’s clear to Mom Duan that Luo Na cares more about Duan Yu Cheng’s future than she had thought. Luo Na sets her commandments: break up or score 7400pts. Unfortunately, Duan Yu Cheng is short 25 points at 7375pts. But actually that score is already exceptional.
Coach Yang discovers Duan Yu Cheng is dating Luo Na. He’s only the last one to know the obvious. And now Luo Na is lectured by coach too, haha. Luo Na stands her ground. Meanwhile, Mom Duan is nagging at Duan Yu Cheng. Someone saves him though! It’s Dad Duan! Aw, Mom Duan gives in to Dad Duan when he’s strict xD. I like their balance.
[Ep23] After seeing the coach from the national team, Duan Yu Cheng comes back to sweep Luo Na off her feet with a kiss. She has to push him off her to stop him. He rolls to the ground and that’s where he tells her he’s accepted into the nationals, but he’s reluctant to go. It’s because he can only bring one coach (Coach Yang). This means he’ll be separated from Luo Na. Duan Yu Cheng also wishes he were one year older and then he’ll be at the age to marry (21). He’s very serious about it but she doesn’t take him seriously. Instead she orders him to train well at the bootcamp by threatening him with some very aggressive tickling.
Luo Na asks Head Coach Wang about the 7400pts bet. The coach laughs. Duan Yu Cheng is already heading off to the national team. It’s no longer his jurisdiction on who he dates.
Since Duan Yu Cheng will be gone for a few months, he once again asks Luo Na to marry, or at least to be engaged. He also feels uneasy leaving her alone with Wu Ze and all the young recruits. But hey, Duan Yu Cheng is the one who’s popular these days. He even has an offer from an agency to manage his sport star career. He refuses, though. He only wants to be an athlete. Did this reporter see Duan Yu Cheng and Luo Na kissing? o.O Why show us that scene of her passing by if she didn’t see it?
Duan Yu Cheng teases Luo Na that he could abandon her once he has fame and money. Luo Na doesn’t take him seriously. She never does, lol, at least, this episode. To her, Duan Yu Cheng isn’t that kind of person. Otherwise, she wouldn’t like him. He’s touched and asks her (you guessed it) to marry. She’s choking on her food. He pleads with her to accept him. Boy, even if you’re serious, this is now how you propose.
Li Ge is accepted into the national team too but he’s throwing a tantrum because Wu Ze isn’t going with him. Luo Na is the middle person. She explains to the child that Wu Ze is happier than anyone to see him fly higher. But Wu Ze knows his own limit. He can only lead Li Ge this far.
Li Ge mumbles: I must have him. I only want him. Aw! xD

Li Ge (mumbles audibly): He doesn’t understand. Gold doesn’t matter without him. The coach isn’t even him anymore. There’s nothing related to him anymore. AWWWWWW. He meant the gold and himself will have nothing to do with Wu Ze, and he’s depressed about that. Li Ge and Wu Ze are stealing the show for me right now.
The next day, Li Ge and Duan Yu Cheng take the plane together. They can’t walk without playfully hitting each other. Wu Ze watches them leave. It feels like he’s marrying off his daughter. Luo Na glares at him. Allow me to translate. If Li Ge is Wu Ze's daughter then Duan Yu Cheng is Luo Na’s son. Then that makes Luo Na and Wu Ze parents. Of course she’s glaring at him, lol.
[Ep24] Duan Yu Cheng and Li Ge are training with Team China. Even the rooms are so red.... When Luo Na is on the phone with Duan Yu Cheng, she overhears Li Ge commenting on how happy Duan Yu Cheng is when he high-jumps.
Duan Yu Cheng reunites with Mao Mao Qi (aka Li Ge’s shige)! Da Xia is here too. He’s happiest though when Luo Na pays him a surprise visit. When she pats his head, he’s snuggling into her hand just like the first time she touched her head.
Duan Yu Cheng is popular and even has a fan club. The coach wants him to shoot some ads to promote Team China. However, he’s criticized by a reporter – the one who’s butthurt that Duan Yu Cheng rejected her offer – for supposedly spending too much time promoting instead of training. The reporter knows he’s dating Luo Na and privately approaches Duan Yu Cheng to tell him that Luo Na is using him blah blah blah. Duan Yu Cheng is angered and pushes her away. Another athlete, Cai Li Qiu – also butthurt because Duan Yu Cheng is better than him in skills and popularity – helps the reporter up. The next day, there’s a new article from that butthurt reporter about Duan Yu Cheng stealing the ad from that butthurt athlete. Now Duan Yu Cheng is removed from the competition. SO STUPID.
[Ep25] Luo Na suggests to Duan Yu Cheng to train internationally with her father as his coach. This time though, he will train solely for high jump – his favourite. From all the training as a decathlete, his body has developed optimally for high jump. Duan Yu Cheng cries. Luo Na calls him a crybaby when her eyes are red too.
Duan Yu Cheng: Marry me.Luo Na: Okay.
Just like that. Engaged?
Luo Na and Duan Yu Cheng return to meet the Duan parents. Mom Duan pulls the two into a group hug. Although the mom has accepted the girlfriend, that doesn’t mean the mom isn’t jealous of all the special treatment the girlfriend is getting.
Duan Yu Cheng gives Luo Na a present: it’s a pearl necklace. It’s ANOTHER pearl from the sea...What sea is this? How far do I have to dive? He says that when they marry, he’ll give her a bigger one. He wants something from her too: her earring. Just one. When he returns from abroad, her pair of earrings will be reunited just like they will be. As for now, bed-play resumes ~
It’s not that Luo Na doesn’t love him. She’s numb from separation because her parents are abroad all the time. Being indifferent is self-protection. However, with Duan Yu Cheng, it’s different. He hasn’t left and she already misses him. She makes her third and last wish on a lighter. She wants to be with Duan Yu Cheng together forever. Duan Yu Cheng makes a last last wish with her.
Duan Yu Cheng: I wish I will always be your pride and your support.
[Ep26] Coach Luo confiscates Duan Yu Cheng’s phone. It isn’t just because the dad is a jealous dad. Duan Yu Cheng is distracted by Luo Na and isn’t reaching Coach Luo’s requirements. At first Luo Na scolds Duan Yu Cheng too, but after a while, she cheers him on that he has to work hard. Training internationally was both their decision. He promises her and focuses only on training.
Three months later, it’s raining, and Duan Yu Cheng is still training. He finally reached Coach Luo’s expectations. The coach cracks a smile and returns the phone. Duan Yu Cheng phones Luo Na. However, he’s petulant that she’s surrounded by guys, but it’s only her disciple(s) and Wu Ze. They all know she’s dating an immature boy who’s always jealous him and loves him.
Duan Yu Cheng coaches Coach Luo on how to mend his relationship with Luo Na. The parents are approving of this son-in-law. They ask for his plans. He’s heading back. When he left Team China, there were some misunderstandings, but now he’s confident that he can overcome them. Also, if it wasn’t for those setbacks, he wouldn’t have gone back on track to his favourite high jump.
Luo Na doesn’t know Duan Yu Cheng is back early. She catches him lying because he sucks at lying (to her). She misunderstands that he wants to break up with her. No girl! He wants to marry you! He’s so apologetic for lying that he blurts out all his plans, but she covers his mouth to shut him up. This girl wants her surprise and proposal. Boy, get going! And they arrive at the school’s track and field for the proposal.
I’m confused, though lol. The proposal looks and feels like a wedding.

[First Impression (Ep1-4)] I’m unapologetically superficial about this one. My love for Wang An Yu is shining through! No blinding filter can deflect me. I'm aware how plain sailing the story is too, but I’m shipping them. He’s in love with her already and I don’t blame the guy, Jin Chen is effortlessly mesmerizing as Luo Na. Once the line blurs for her, I’m afraid it’ll be problematic, not as an older woman, but as his coach. Before that, please give me more scenes of Duan Yu Cheng wagging his tail after her. (After so many possessive, cold guys, I’m ready for a nice, sunny one!)
