[Cyn-opsis] A princess was supposed to marry a general and a street performer was supposed to marry a mountain bandit. None of the four want to marry and then a swticharoo happens and now our street performer (Xiao Wan Zi) marries our general (Mei Shi Qing)
Oh yes, what is a fake marriage drama without an accidental kiss? It happens this episode right after Xiao Wan Zi saves Mei Shi Qing.
[Ep2] The marriage switcharoo is here! The wedding rites are over. Mei Shi Qing and Xiao Wan Zi are husband and wife. Xiao Wan Zi and Mei Shi Qing have a mutual agreement to only marry by name. They sleep separately. He has yet to know she's a fake princess and she has yet to know about his fake blindness.
The second marriage is between Xiao Bao and Lu Ying Yao. Lu Ying Yao is the real princess. Xiao Bao Ye is an adopted son of a mountain bandit leader. The marriage was supposed to be a way for the leader's daughter to move on from Xiao Bao Ye.
[Ep3] Qiao Yun, the princess's maid, begs Xiao Wan Zi to stay, otherwise they'll all have to die because the marriage was bestowed by the Emperor. Being the kind soul that she is, Xiao Wan Zi accepts the arduous task of pretending to be the princess when she herself knows nothing about the mannerism of a noble lady nor how to read or write. Aaaand being the kind soul that she is, Xiao Wan Zi takes Mei Shi Qing's whippings for him. The whippings are from Dad because Mei Shi Qing wanted to move out against Dad's orders. Dad roars at Xiao Wan Zi whether she can protect Mei Shi Qing each time. She answers confidently: Yes! Is Mei Shi Qing touched from this?
If moving out isn't possible, then we pull a Trump: Build a wall! But Xiao Wan Zi forgot to install a door and now Dad is bellowing again. The wall rumbles and falls. Mei Shi Qing, who's supposed to be "blind", saves Xiao Wan Zi. A brick falls on Mei Shi Qing's head and blood trickles down from his forehead. The servant applying the medication on Mei Shi Qing is clearly dabbing Huan Jun Jie's fake wig... Seriously?
[Ep4] Xiao Wan Zi suspects Mei Shi Qing is faking his blindness while he's suspecting her princess identity.
[Ep5] Mei Shi Qing is certain Xiao Wan Zi isn't the princess but he's consistently amused by her.
Xiao Wan Zi finds Mei Shi Qing's secret tunnel that leads her outside. She walks into Ye Ling Xia fighting this guy. Her appearance gives the guy a chance to flee. It doesn't help that she's wrapping her hands tightly around Ye Ling Xia. She whines that she's this weak damsel who needs his protection. Mei Shi Qing sighs. He might as well walk her home (or fly her home) and figure out who she is. And that's it, he learns the truth from her that she's Xiao Wan Zi and that she was originally sold to be a bride of a mountain bandit because of her father''s debt, etc.
Before Ye Lin Xia leaves her, he gives her his cape. Xiao Wan Zi has officially melted.
[Ep6] Xiao Bao saves Lu Ying Yao when she tried to run away. These two are cute.
Xiao Wan Zi's fake identity was almost exposed when the princess's friend visits the manor. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief when the friend doesn't recognize the princess because they've only seen each other as kids. Even Mei Shi Qing is relieved.
After dinner, Xiao Wan Zi is drunk and thirsty. She walks into Mei Shi Qing while he's bathing and almost drinks that dirty, dirty tub water that he's soaking his body in. He stops her in time and as a result he's standing stark naked in front of her. Xiao Wan Zi, who is drunk, hugs him. Her cheek rests on his bare chest. Mei Shi Qing, who's clearly not drunk, hugs her back and kisses her forehead, ou. He's about to kiss her lips but then Xiao Wan Zi's eyes slowly open.
[Ep7] A shocked Xiao Wan Zi pushes Mei Shi Qing away and he falls back into the tub. She cries that he took advantage of her... by pretending to be blind. Oh. I thought it would be about the kiss. To stop her from whimpering, Mei Shi Qing begrudgingly tells her: "I’ll compensate you!” Xiao Wan Zi smirks – she’s going to be rich! – but not so fast, Mei Shi Qing exposes her for being an impostor
The next morning, Xiao Wan Zi is a volunteer slave to Mei Shi Qing, feeding him his food and everything. When the servants leave, Xiao Wan Zi begs him to free her or give her a conclusion. Mei Shi Qing’s smile is sly. He wants her to stay as the princess. He also makes her stamp on a contract: "Xiao Wan Zi is a big fat liar. Signing and stamping might not work either.” Xiao Wan Zi is illiterate and assumes it’s a contract to stay married. She signs it anyway. Then she plops down on the chair and demands to be fed. Y’know, because they're supposed to pretend she's a princess, gotta stay in the act. Mei Shi Qing smiles and feeds her.
Mei Shi Qing was right: Xiao Wan Zi is a big fat liar. She escapes that same day. Mei Shi Qing chases her back but as Ye Ling Xia. He tempts her that she can travel jianghu with him only if she’s a woman of her words. Xiao Wan Zi declares she is until she remembers Mei Shi Qing. Heaving a big sigh, she’ll go back to Mei Manor for Ye Ling Xia. On the topic of whether Mei Shi Qing has any merits, she shakes her head, oh but maybe he’s good looking and has a good body. Of course he can’t beat Ye Ling Xia in her heart. Also, Mei Shi Qing is like this "ice mountain", never expressing his thoughts. It's as if those words have pierced his icy heart (He's really not that icy imo. I think he smiles a lot for a cold guy) because when she returns to the manor he mumbles an inaudible thank you. He’s trying to warm up to her. She, on the other hand, thinks he's sick.
[Ep8] A jealous Mei Shi Qing shows up as Ye Ling Xia in front of Xiao Wan Zi after he sees her having dinner with this other man. This man knows her...or someone who look like her. Hm. Does Xiao Wan Zi have a twin sister? The guy looks way too young to be her father if Xiao Wan Zi's dad isn't her biological dad.
[Ep9] Mei Shi Qing teaches Xiao Wan Zi how to write and the first characters he teaches her are his name. She sucks at it. He teaches her and, of course, that involves hugging and cheeks almost touching. I feel like I'm just watching this drama for slow-mo scenes of these two... xD
Mei Shi Qing is sooooooooooooooo jealous that Xiao Wan Zi wants to leave the manor. He thinks she's seeing the same guy from last night not knowing she wants to see her father.
Xiao Bao kidnaps Xiao Wan Zi. He wanted to switch out Lu Ying Yao so that she doesn't have to marry his god-father. Mei Shi Qing saves Xiao Wan Zi but then exposes his fake blindness to everyone. The Princess's servants also know that Mei Shi Qing is aware of Xiao Wan Zi's real identity. All the fake stuff is revealed rather smoothly, eh.
[Ep10] Xiao Wan Zi and her father help Xiao Bao escape with the motive to save the real Princess. Lu Ying Yao also does her part to save Xiao Bao by convincing Nan Xiang to look for him. If Lu Ying Yao hadn't done that, other fellow bandits would have killed Xiao Bao.

Xiao Wan Zi kneels all day and all night to beg Dad Mei to release Mei Shi Qing. Grumpy Dad is happy his son has someone who loves him like so. Mei Shi Qing is a free man. Then he picks up his princess and carries her back to her room. He's tender with her bruises. Unconsciously, she reaches out to touch his face but when he looks up she retracts. Mei Chang Su grabs her wrist ~
I think the story and the acting is just o-kay but the visuals and the slow-mos make me stop everything to watch these two.
[Ep11] Mei Shi Qing tugs at Xiao Wan Zi's hand, letting her touch his face but then Qiao Yun conveniently interrupts.
Mei Shi Qing offers Xiao Wan Zi a date. She gleefully takes Mei Shi Qing's arms to head out. She's been dying to go to the market. But then he disappears and then Ye Ling Xia appears after a suspicious man attempts to assault her. He saves her but the man escapes. Seeing the chance, she snatches Ye Ling Xia's mask and tada! It's Mei Shi Qing. I was not expecting him to be exposed so fast and so easily, but what surprised me the most were the stupid expressions he made after his mask was off...^^". Xiao Wan Zi is in this complicated set of emotions where initially, she was in denial and now, she's embracing the truth. Back at home, she sweetly serves him tea. A rather smug Mei Shi Qing wiggles his shoulders, claiming he's sore. Xiao Wan Zi jumps to massage him. As she's lost in gaze at her hero, she forgets about her super-human strength. Mei Shi Qing winces in pain. To make it worse, Xiao Wan Zi begs him to wear his mask again. She's like "I want to give tea to Ye Ling Xia too!" Pft. Mei Shi Qing's bubble bursts. He's jealous of himself.
[Ep12] Mei Shi Qing (as Ye Ling Xia) is off on a mission. Xiao Wan Zi follows him and saves him but at the same time, she’s poisoned. He drops to his knees to beg the enemies for the antidote. Whilst the enemies are boastful and let their guards down, because they always do when the ML kneels, Mei Shi Qing attacks them, retrieves the antidote and escapes to the cave with Xiao Wan Zi. They spend the night there because of his wounds. He tells her he’s looking for his mother’s murderer, who is related to the salt smuggler. This is also the reason he became Ye Ling Xia to rid the world of such cancers. So. Spoiler. Stop reading if you don't want to know who the mastermind is but I think it's pretty obvious unless he's a red herring. Situ Ling is the salt smuggler, the guy who Mei Shi Qing was jealous of. I wouldn't rule out another possibility. Perhaps stepmom is involved?
Lu Ying Yao and Xiao Bao. Lu Ying Yao is to escape tonight but she discovers the other bandits will sabotage Xiao Bao. She stays for Xiao Bao.
[Ep13] After that cave night, Xiao Wan Zi and Mei Shi Qing’s feelings have reciprocated which leads to Xiao Wan Zi’s next problem: she promised Qiao Yun she’d leave after the real Princess is back. She's not supposed to fall in love with Mei Shi Qing.
Mei Shi Qing accurately guesses Xiao Wan Zi's troubles. He promises her that his heart has already chosen her. He even takes her to his secret lair (Ruyi Pavilion) and introduces her to the Courtesan who works with him. She's hesitant to share her intel but Mei Shi Qing assures her that Xiao Wan Zi is "my person". Xiao Qan Zi who's curious to know more, readily agrees that she is "his person." Mei Shi Qing can't hide his gloating smile. That smile fades when he realizes the extent of her curiosity. She wants to join him on every mission. She even hung bells all around his bed so that whenever he's on a night voyage, she'd know. Mei Shi Qing shakes his head (with a smile), and sighs at what a headache she is.
[Ep14] The peasants don’t like Ye Ling Xia because he’s after the salt smuggler who’s selling salt at an affordable price. Xiao Wan Zi comforts Mei Shi Qing that he will always be a hero in her heart.
Xiao Bao is set on capturing Ye Ling Xia. His godfather promised to abort the marriage with Lu Ying Yao if he succeeds. Part of the plan to capture Ye Ling Xia is to tarnish his reputation.
[Ep15] Xiao Bao wanted to ruin Ye Ling Xia’s reputation but ended up doing one good deed after another. He's addicted to being heroic. Lol. He should succeed the name of Ye Ling Xia after this. Mei Shi Qing is happy about Ye Ling Xia's heroic reputation. Xiao Wan Zi isn’t because no impostor can replace the real Ye Ling Xia who's special in her heart. After hearing that, Mei Shi Qing can't stop smiling; his white teeth are shining through.
Since Mei Shi Qing is ignoring her cries, Xiao Wan Zi pretends to commit suicide, hoping to lure out the impostor. She claims she's harassed by her awful husband. Mei Shi Qing as Ye Ling Xia is watching her with his arms crossed but then she really slips. He saves her and that's her chance to pepper spray him – actually, it's a fainting spray. He has to take off his half-mask for Xiao Wan Zi to believe he's the man she's been staring at every day.......... Xiao Wan Zi apologizes for spraying him to which he brushes off that he's the amazing Ye Ling Xia, how could he faint?
He faints.
Xiao Wan Zi is back at trying to catch fake Ye Ling Xia. She falls into a well. Mei Shi Qing saves her and gives her oxygen underwater = kiss. The next day, Xiao Wan Qi looks upset. She's worried about the real Princess coming back. Mei Shi Qing thinks she's upset about the kiss and so he promises there won't be a next time. Congratulations, Mei Shi Qing, you made her angrier.
There’s weird vibes from Situ Ling. Xiao Wan Zi can’t feel it and thinks Mei Shi Qing is the one who’s prejudiced. They argue again.
Lu Ying Yao coaches Nan Xiang on how to seduce Xiao Bao. Although Lu Ying Yao is genuine in helping, her real motive is to find the map of the mountain (to escape) which she believes Nan Xiang has access to.
[Ep17] Xiao Wan Zi is accused of infidelity because she was caught eating with Situ Ling. The family punishes her. Mei Shi Qing protects her because he believes her – well, actually, he believes himself: "As long as I’m here, it's impossible for you to fall in love with another man. Okay Mei Shi Qing, you keep thinking that.
Xiao Wan Zi finds herself more in love with him but she knows he's too good for her. Mei Shi Qing has successfully brainwashed her. Mei Shi Qing senses the distance she's putting between them. He runs after her to close that distance with a kiss.
Lu Ying Yao and Xiao Bao. Lu Ying Yao feels jealous after seeing Nan Xiang and Xiao Bao together. She doesn't register that she's in love. She continues to help Nan Xiang and so when Xiao Bao buys her a qin to play, she explains to Nan Xiang that Xiao Bao only invited her here to play qin for them. Xiao Bao is hurt that Lu Ying Yao is pushing him to another girl. But all the pain goes away when Dad tells Xiao Bao that Lu Ying Yao was actually jealous earlier. Xiao Bao runs to Lu Ying Yao to confirm. She doesn't deny it and now he's all happy again. He promises he'll cooperate with her in regards to Nan Xiang even though he doesn't know why she needs to be on Nan Xiang's good side.
[Ep18] So we left off at that kiss between Xiao Wan Zi and Mei Shi Qing...
Xiao Wan Zi: Didn't you say you weren't going to kiss me?Mei Shi Qing and his blinding smile: Because I like you
She doesn't know how to reply. She likes him; the problem is – you guessed it – she's not the real princess. He's patient and will wait for her reply whenever she's ready.
Also in this episode: Xiao Wan introduces Mei Shi Qing to stinky tofu. He loves it.
[Ep19] The plot:
- Xiao Wan Zi secretly arrives at the mountain bandit camp with hopes of saving Lu Ying Yao and her father but Lu Ying Yao can't leave because her father is still detained. She promises Xiao Wan Zi she'll be alright. Therefore, Lu Ying Yao is still not saved.
- When Xiao Wan Zi is home, Mei Shi Qing is desperately in search of her. She pops up behind him and he menacingly picks her up – to hug her.
- Mei Shi Qing is once again jealous of Situ Ling. He gives Xiao Wan Zi a bidong to ask for her answer to his confession. She's saved by the waiter and avoids answering.
- Xiao Wan Zi suspects Situ Ling is the smuggler! Mei Shi Qing doesn't know it yet – he's still jealous
- Nan Xiang discovers Lu Ying Yao's impure intentions of helping her with Xiao Bao was all for the map.
Just when did this plot stop moving? Lu Ying Yao is still stuck. Xiao Bao is still in love. Xiao Wan Zi is still in denial. Mei Shi Qing is still jealous. Nan Xian is still jealous. Mountain Leader is still adamant on marrying Lu Ying Yao.
[Ep20] Situ Ling sees Xiao Wan Zi snooping around his room. She steals his accounting book not knowing Situ Ling was watching her. She returns home to show Mei Shi Qing all of her goodies. He's smug. However, they don't find anything wrong with the books. Eventually Situ Ling fools Xiao Wan Zi to believe he's a good guy. He knows she's the key to finding Ye Ling Xia who has been ruining all his trades.
Nan Xiang poisons Lu Ying Yao but it was Xiao Bao who took the poison by accident. Nan Xiang belatedly learns. However, she threatens Xiao Bao that she'd only give him the antidote if he would take her as his wife. Nope. Not happening. Not even if he's dying. His heart only loves Lu Ying Yao. Ouch. Not even in death, eh.
[Ep21] Xiao Wan Zi is captured by Situ Ling who threatens her for Ye Ling Xia's identity. She won't give in but Ye Ling Xia shows up anyway. And now both of them are chained up. Situ Ling forces Xiao Wan Zi to marry him. If she does, then he'll free Mei Shi Qing. Mei Shi Qing warns her it's just a trap. Xiao Wan Zi stares into his eyes and declares with resolution: "Kill us both. We'll be together forever." Mei Shi Qing concurs. But then Situ Ling is a lunatic and crazily slaps Xiao Wan Zi. Mei Shi Qing roars and snaps his chain with brute force. Dramas. Superman is here. He sends Situ Ling flying with one kick. They're safe.
Second Couple. Nan Xiang refuses to give Xiao Bao the antidote. However, death doesn't scare Xiao Bao. He's more worried about Lu Ying Yao's safety. He wants his buddy to give him strengthening medication so that he can take Lu Ying Yao down the mountains; the caveat: he'll die faster. Lu Ying Yao hears everything and begs the same buddy to ignore Xiao Bao's request. She'd rather stay than have him die.
Once Xiao Wan Zi wakes up, she searches all over for Mei Shi Qing who's right behind her. The girl just never looks in the right direction. He calls her and she runs to him. The tighter she hugs, the tighter he holds her. Once they have their privacy, he wants to confirm her feelings. She looks away but he demands her attention. "Love is love." One cannot deny it. Xiao Wan Zi stares at him, lost in his gaze. He closes the distance and she closes her eyes to accept the kiss but, guys, the kiss is happening so slow, it's bound to be interrupted. It is interrupted. No kisses.
[Ep22] Qiao Yun confronts Xiao Wan Zi AGAIN. Xiao Wan Zi promises AGAIN that she won't take the Princess's place. She will leave on her own when the time comes. For the time being, she's extra sweet to Mei Shi Qing. This is why she never "verbally" reciprocate his love.
Mei Shin Qing hates his dad because he neglected him and his mother for work. His dad also had a lot of enemies which is why his mother died protecting him (Mei Shi Qing). Xiao Wan Zi wonders what she can do for him. Well, all he needs is for her to stay with him.
Xiao Wan Zi: Of course. Even if you kick me out, I won't leave you. What a liar.
Second Couple: Xiao Bao isn't recovering. Lu Ying Yao begs Bandit Leader to ask Nan Xiang for the antidote. Nan Xiang had wanted to give it, just not in front of Lu Ying Yao. Anyway, she gives it. Xiao Bao recovers. Lu Ying Yao realizes she's in love with him.
[Ep23] Xiao Bao and Lu Ying Yao don't kiss the first time but they do the second time. Each glance they share oozes with sweetness. The next day he proposes with flowers and she accepts. However, the only reason Xiao Bao is cured is because Lu Ying Yao promised to marry Bandit Leader for the antidote. Xiao Bao confronts the Bandit Leader and the latter tells the former the previous deal is still active. If Xiao Bao can kill Ye Ling Xia (who they know is Mei Shi Qing) then he can marry Lu Ying Yao. However, the Bandit Leader is only using him. Xiao Bao confirms it as he overhears Bandit Leader's conversation with Lao Wu (another bandit member)
In the next scene, Xiao Bao attacks one of Mei Shi Qing's men. In Xiao Bao's hand, he's holding a dynamite and asking Mei Shi Qing for help.
[Ep24] With the help of Mei Shi Qing, which I don't really know how he helped, Xiao Bao saves Lu Ying Yao and Dad from the mountains. They all escape. Lu Ying Yao wonders how Xiao Bao convinced Mei Shi Qing. It turns out the man who Xiao Bao took down was a mole the Bandit Leader implanted in the Mei Family.
The couples are happy but then Xiao Wan Zi realizes with the real princess back, her duty is over. She begs Lu Ying Yao for one last night with Mei Shi Qing. However, Lu Ying Yao wants to be with Xiao Bao. She convinces Xiao Wan Zi to continue the act and, surely, there will be a way they can both be happy.
Lu Ying Yao tells Xiao Bao the truth about her identity. He mopes about the discrepancy in their status but that doesn't matter: she can give up her status for him. Blissful, Xiao Bao hugs her and asks for her real name (because he's always been calling her Xiao Wan Zi). From now on, he wants to call her "Yao Yao."
[Ep25] Mei Shi Qing investigates Li Tian Long, who is involved in his mother's murderer. It's somehow related to the Mountain Bandits. Mei Shi Qing asks his father for more information for the first time in years. It turns out Dad doesn't know the murderer is still alive.
Mei Shi Qing is blinded when the Mountain Bandits blitz him during dinner. Xiao Wan Zi begs a Blind Physician to heal Mei Shi Qing. This physician doesn't treat anyone but Xiao Wan Zi's perseverance moves him. Xiao Wan Zi's trick to get all middle-aged men to help her: kneel all day and all night in any weather. The Blind Physician gives Xiao Wan Zi a chance. If she takes the poison, he will cure Mei Shi Qing. She takes it and, duh, it's not poison. After all that ordeal, she brings the physician home only for the family to contest: How can a Blind Physician cure blindness? That's what I'm asking. Only Mei Shi Qing believes in Xiao Wan Zi and the Blind Physician.
[Ep26] Mei Shi Qing is blind and can still take down Situ Ling because he's not actually blind. It was a trap to lure him out and now Mei Shi Qing knows he is Li Tian Long. Mei Shi Qing also finds out that Xiao Wan Zi and her father are involved in the death of his mother. It was her father who leaked to Li Tian Long of his mother's hiding spot.
And so Mei Shi Qing and Xiao Wan Zi become star-crossed lovers.
[Ep27] Xiao Bao confirms to Mei Shi Qing that the crippled man who killed his mother is the Bandit Leader.
Right when the Bandit Leader was selling his daughter for an alliance, Xiao Bao and Mei Shi Qing infiltrate the camp. However, Mei Shi Qing almost dies in the hands of Bandit Leader but Xiao Wan Zi's Dad protects Mei Shi Qing. Our couple tries to escape but Bandit Leader is hot on their tails. Yo, if he was this powerful, why didn't he kill Mei Shi Qing himself? He hammers down on Mei Shi Qing with his staff. Xiao Wan Zi catches the staff with her bare hands. Her incredible strength comes into use FOR ONCE. So powerful! But the next second she's flung off a cliff...sigh. I'm not even sad. I'm disappointed. Her strength is useless.
[Ep28] Daddy Mei saves Mei Shi Qing from Bandit Leader. Father and son team up: Dad holds down Bandit Leader and Mei Shi Qing hammers down with the staff. I absolutely love it that all three frames of the hammer coming down are all at different angles 👏👏👏. That's not all. Mei Shi Qing kills Bandit Leader by stabbing the rod through his body. The thickness of that rod...how does it even... and shouldn't intestines be eviscerating... Then Mei Shi Qing faints.
Xiao Wan Zi isn't dead. She's kidnapped by Situ Ling because, honestly, what kind of main character dies falling off a cliff?. Situ Ling is Li Tian Long's son. He wants to avenge his father. He ties a chain around Xiao Wan Zi's waist which is like a bomb and will explode in seconds. He happily tells them all the details – muahahah – but then Xiao Wan Zi throws herself onto Situ Ling, planning to die with him. Situ Ling, this is something you do secretly without being on scene. Mei Shi Qing takes a flimsy sword and splits the metal in one strike, freeing Xiao Wan Zi. He escapes with Xiao Wan Zi before the place explodes. Situ Ling dies alone. Wonderful character. He gives us a reason Xiao Wan Zi is alive, and then kills himself. Situ Ling, I salute you.
Xiao Wan Zi's Dad may be the one who led the killers to Mei Shi Qing's mother but he also saved the little Mei Shi Qing, making it twice that he saved him. The math is simple, guys. Dad did one bad thing and then made it up with two good things and so we're in positive range /s Mei Shi Qing forgives Xiao Wan Zi's dad. Our couple is happy in love.
Lu Ying Yao and Xiao Bao want to leave the city and travel the world. Cai Yun is upset for her princess but it's also the first time she's seen Lu Ying Yao this happy. Si Heng comfortingly hugs Cai Yun. Oh, they're an item.
The new problem: the palace is summoning Princess Lu Ying Yao but the real one just left to travel the world.
[Ep29] Another problem: Nan Xiang is alive and she's out for revenge against Lu Ying Yao and Xiao Bao. However, Nan Xiang slips and falls off a cliff. She dies. From the word "King" Mei Shi Qing reads that the Sixth Prince is behind the salt smuggling. His ultimate goal is to be the King but Mei Shi Qing tells him his ultimate ending will be in death. Like everyone's? Mei Shi Qing already had a counter plan and had Lu Ying Yao's father (9th Prince) and Dad Mei to inform the Emperor. Help is on the way. 9th Prince orders them to be killed this instant. Even when our team is surrounded by dozens of swords, not one person on our team is hurt, and their hair is still perfect.
The imperial guards flood in. Everyone is saved. Situ Ling dies – actually dies. There is a corpse. But who is the girl he likes (who looks like Xiao Wan Zi)? Just a random girl? Alright.
Dad Mei relays the message from the Emperor (because Drama doesn't have enough money for hiring an actor for the Emperor?). His Highness is rewarding the couples with a marriage with their rightful partners.

Remarks
[First Impression (Ep1-6)] This gets cute for me at around Ep6. I like how the ML falls in love with the FL first. He knows she's a fake princess but he keeps her around because of L.O.V.E. There's nothing special in this fake-marriage-mix-up story. It's cute and simple. It's also interesting watching Li Geng Xi (Teresa Li) in such a feminine role – I'm not quite used to it.
[Actors/Actresses] Interestingly, in April 2021, Huang Jun Jie announced his hiatus for improperly handling his personal affairs i.e. he got caught for cheating. But then the girl who posted all the proof that he cheated goes and apologizes for it. I dunno. Anyway, despite being on hiatus, apparently his dramas can still air... I guess? Is his company testing the waters to see if he can come back sooner? Or is it because we're nearing July 1st (CCP 100th anniversary) and period dramas are supposed to take the backseat so it won't matter if this airs now?
It's a pity, I think, that one actor can bring down an entire drama. There's so many other people involved in the production that it's unfair to dismiss it especially when this finished filming prior to the scandal.
