[Cyn-opsis (Ep1-2)] Cheng Cheng is a king and Tan'er is a queen. They have a son together. Their son touches a forbidden glowing pearl. I don’t blame the kid.  Somewhere else, a weird guy is channeling dark energy into the pearl – abracadabra! – our leads wake up in a new dimension. It’s a matriarchal society. This reminds me of The Romance of Tiger and Rose. Interestingly,  Zhou Zi Xin is here too. She was Chen Chu Chu in TRoTaR. Tan'er wakes up with memory intact. She is now a princess (with prince privileges). The "Emperor" is also Tan'er or a girl who looks like Tan'er. As for Cheng Cheng, he’s amnesic. He’s called in to be selected as a man-consort for the "Emperor". Over Tan'er's dead body!

[Ep6] Both Mo Lian Cheng and Mo Yan Chen are Tan'er's sweet little consorts.

Mo Lian Cheng is like: Bro, how are we going to avoid consummating with our husband-like-wife?!
Mo Yan Chen is like: Oh my dear brother, I am so excited. *Timid smile*. Fang Yi Lun killed me here.
Mo Lian Cheng’s memories are back! He knows the kisses make him amnesiac. Smart! But they just can’t get their lips off of each other. Idiots. But hey, I think this kiss is one the more romantic ones.

[Ep7] Mo Lian Cheng remembers everything after being jealous. Then there is a forbidden apple in the scene. He slips and whoopsie-daisies, they kiss again. Bye bye memories.

[Ep8] Our memory-less Cheng Cheng is falling in love with Tan'er all over again. I like this episode because Mo Lian Cheng feels like Season One's Mo Lian Cheng

[Ep9] An episode where Mo Lian Cheng denies his growing feelings for Tan'er. He's also worried about his brother (who is currently lovesick). Mo Yan Chen loves the original Qu Tan’er and can’t understand why she doesn’t love him anymore.

[Ep10] Tan'er is an expert in the art of push and pull. When Mo Lian Cheng wants a kiss, she ain’t kissing him. When Mo Lian Cheng wants a hug, she ain’t touching him.

[Ep11] Okay, maybe there was too much pushing and pulling because now Mo Lian Cheng wants a divorce. There’s obviously other plot stuff happening but I’m not paying attention. To get the divorce letter, Mo Lian Cheng will do the preposterous: enter a male brothel. Surely, Tan'er will be humiliated. Nope. She’s modern and loves that her man is popular.

[Ep12] Memories are not back yet but they have sex. He’s using his body to buy himself freedom the divorce letter. In Mo Lian Cheng’s head: Is everything over now? Psh. I really shouldn’t have drank so much. This is the reaction of our mighty Eighth Prince after he loses his virginity. Actually, is he even considered a virgin? The body is but the mind isn't.

Memories are back. Looks around, no apples. We’re clear! But then they fall on flat ground and their lips are like magnets again. Memories are gone. They need mouth guards.

[Ep13] Mo Liang Cheng advocates for the rights of divorced men. He also gets his divorce letter from Tan'er. He should be happy because he has everything he wants but he isn’t. Staring up at the moon, he regrets not fulfilling his husband-ly duties: dressing her and washing her. LOL. And so that night he serves her tea. He even cools it down for her and then in the middle of helping her undress, he swooshes in for a kiss. Ah, now that’s our eighth prince! With amnesic Mo Lian Cheng, they can kiss all they want. And wow they kissed a lot this episode. Is anyone counting?

Tan'er promises Mo Lian Cheng she'll help him recover his Eternal Love memories. H jealously asks her if she loves the him from the past or the present. Omg, are we doing season 2 again? Tan'er laughs, "You are only amnesiac!” Mo Lian Cheng is still Mo Lian Cheng. That doesn't stop him from being jealous, though. Yes, our Mo Lian Cheng is indeed still our jealous Cheng Cheng. And they kiss again.

[Ep14] Tan'er prepares a deep ditch to have Mo Lian Cheng fall in with her. He's supposed to cushion her fall and perhaps that will trigger his memory from his previous life/lives. Mo Lian Cheng is like Girl, no way. How does it even make sense that he, who is a master at martial arts, fell into a ditch? She contests that he had actually wanted to spend some alone time with her to know who she was. Okay, but how does that make sense when she said they loved each other. Why would he need a ditch? Mo Lian Cheng has another burning question: how did they climb up? That's something Tan'er can easily explain: he flew up! Now Mo Lian Cheng is even more confused. If he can fly, how could she have accidentally pulled him in the ditch?? LOL

Tan'er: Mo Lian Cheng, I highly suspect that you're making me go in circles!
Mo Liang Chen: This ditch-fall doesn't make sense in the first place!
Tan'er exasperates: I dug a ditch for myself! I love how they're figuratively talking about plot holes with a real ditch. This is easily one of my favourite scenes thus far.

The humour is over. Mo Lian Cheng makes Tan'er gush over the other reason why he refuses to fall in the ditch with her. He no longer has his martial arts skills. He's afraid he can't protect her.

They finally talk about their kid! As long as there are Eternal Love seasons, the poor kid will never reach puberty.

Unfortunately, the more Tan'er is obsessed with recovering Mo Lian Cheng's memories, the more desperate he feels. He can't remember anything. The insecurities of not being able to live up to the Mo Lian Cheng in Tan'er's heart is wearing down the current Mo Lian Cheng. It takes a while, but Tan'er realizes it doesn't matter anymore. They can just create new memories since he is the person she loves. They kiss x 254546.

[Ep15] Poor Mo Yan Chen. Tan'er is divorcing him and he still believes she's his Qu Tan'er. He's one step away from turning evil but he's got this pitiful expression every single time, I can't hate him, at least not yet
Su Yue La is assigned to Tan'er to discipline the lovebirds.. on how not to be lovebirds..?
[Ep16] This episode Su Yue La remarkably has chemistry with Jing Xin xD and...
Yu Hao. It seems like Su Yue La's ultimate weakness is Yu Hao – with a mole! – because that one mole changes him into the appearance of her first love. Never underestimate the power of the Mole in Cdramas. It can uglify women and change men's entire appearance. Su Yue La is tempted to take his chastity and now she's caught in the act which is exactly what Tan'er wanted.

Su Yue La is demoted and sent to the outskirts of the nation. Out of hatred, she attacks Tan'er. Cheng Cheng protects Tan'er. His memories are back! His martial arts are back too. Did Xiao Zhen (the dude who loves the Emperor) see it?
The key to unlocking Cheng Cheng's memories is jealousy or the fear for Tan'er's safety. Most importantly, it involves his heart rate exceeding a certain threshold. Aha, they've figured it out. This calls for a celebration! A kiss! Omg. Tan'er stops him. Cheng Cheng smiles.

Cheng Cheng: Kissing you a million times will not satiate me. We know.

And they kiss (because there's really no difference in the love between the memory-full and memory-less him). He would know himself best. Okay, fine, kiss.

[Ep17Qu Mei'er (1st Princess) and Mo Yan Chen marry. Then there is a battle between the princesses to get this military seal. Mo Lian Cheng suspects his brother has converted and is now Evil Daddy's little minion and that this battle is a trap by the Emperor. Mo Lian Cheng can't let his brother win. Tomorrow, he will train Tan'er. She's worried and thinks that perhaps memory-full Cheng Cheng will be a better trainer. If you've noticed I use "Cheng Cheng" when he has his memory and "Mo Lian Cheng" when he doesn't. He may not be as powerful as Cheng Cheng but he's confident he's better than Qu Mei Er. Also, he's got the power of the kisses, the only thing Tan'er will ever need and want.
Training is really an excuse for Tan'er to flirt with Cheng Cheng. I laughed so much at the sword dance trope xD. We get to see in slow-mo exposition of the utter uselessness in that move (that all wuxia dramas used in the early days). It's an overused plot device to have the main couple do their skinship with swords. Then this drama is like, Yup that's exactly what we're doing. ~flirt, flirt ~wink wink

Tan'er has other plans to win the competition: cheating! Too bad Tan'er is caught. Qu Mei'er wins.

[Ep18] Our couple is separated. Mo Lian Cheng is summoned to live in the Emperor's quarters for a month.  I'm actually sad there's no kisses in this episode.

New character! He's Yun Xiu. The Emperor wants him to marry Tan'er but it looks like he loves Mo Feng Yang (Mo Lian Cheng's sister). Meanwhile Mo Feng Yang suspects Yun Xiu is up to no good.

[Ep19] Tan'er gets a third husband: Yun Xiu!! Did Mo Lian Cheng even have that many wives/concubines in the previous seasons? She's using him to make Mo Lian Cheng jealous.

[Ep20] Kisses are back! Mo Lian Cheng is in on the plan to help Yun Xiu pursue Mo Feng Yang. Tan'er gives Yun Xiu a makeover. Everyone is struggling to stick a hairpin through his thick hair. Ha, I'm really liking the gender reversals in this drama. Usually, it's the girls struggling in high heels or something to impress the man and now it's the guy's turn. It's refreshing

[Ep21] Something is wrong with the Emperor. She's ill and falls unconscious and is channeling black magic. Xiao Zhen invites Xiao Tan to the palace. He thinks she can save the Emperor because the Soul Suppressing Orb reacted to her.

I laughed a lot at ~6:50 when I heard English (♪ Life is so wonderful ♪) in the OST xD. I don't think I've ever heard English lyrics in a period drama. Then again this is a time/space travel drama that was once a modern drama, right? ^^"

[Ep22] Cheng Cheng's memories are back! He knows that if Xiao Zhen uses the Orb, both Emperor and Xiao Tan will die. He convinces Mo Feng Yang to help save Xiao Tan.

Alright, so a lot of stuff happened with the Orb.

And now everyone is injured with Cheng Cheng's being the most severe.

Cheng Cheng is unconscious but he remembers everything! Mo Lian Cheng and Cheng Cheng are one! His three Eternal Love memories are back for good. He'll no longer be amnesiac. They can kiss all they want but then again, it's not like amnesia ever stopped them.

Here is me trying to understand plot: Mo Lian Cheng explains the Orb stopped attacking him because Xiao Tan hugged him from the back and since she has a magical connection with the orb, it stopped spewing black magic. It was the power of her love that saved him and everyone else. Where the plot is heading now: how to return to their original Dongyue. The answer lies in the Emperor who's the new owner of the Orb.

[Ep23] Yun Xiu proposes (the proposal is equally masculine and feminine). Mo Feng Yang accepts. Yu Hao is throwing flower petals for the romantic scenes, ha

Mo Lian Cheng gives Tan'er a romantic proposal too. Although they married three times, he never gave her a proper proposal! Aw!

Mo Lian Cheng is getting a glimpse of what housework is like (but I only see him shopping around with his hands behind his back...). Tan'er has to read scrolls and do political stuff. They both suck at doing what they're assigned. Thus, Tan'er decides to gender-reverse the already reversed roles. Women do the housework, and men do the fighting. This fails in a day. The men suck at fighting and the women can't cook. Mo Lian Cheng laughs at her. He asks her whether it is gender that determines what someone is good at. Ah, Drama, I like you. I also really like how the drama made Tan'er and Mo Lian Cheng experience life in each other's shoes. The next day Tan'er delegates the task according to each of her servants' specialty in regardless of gender or sex.

[Ep24] Tan'er is the Crown Prince(ss)!

[Ep25] Emperor's name is Qu Xiang Tan!!

Season 1Please correct me if I'm wrong
  • Qu Xiang Tan is the leader of Qu Clan and she was the one who killed Lian Cheng of Mo Clan.
  • She had fallen in love with him but Lian Cheng had sacrificed himself to pacify the "war" between Mo and Qu Clan. This was their other life in this other universe.
  • The leader of Mo Clan, Mo Yi Feng, had orchestrated the marriage between human Xiao Tan (the reincarnation of Qu Xiang Tan) to marry human Mo Lian Cheng to save the real Lian Cheng.
The Emperor being Qu Xiang Tan is very, very confusing for me. If she never died, how is there even a reincarnation? Then who is the current Tan'er?

The Emperor tells Mo Lian Cheng that after she sealed the Demon Lord, she fell to this universe and it was Xiao Zhen who saved her. With her illness, whatever it is, she can't love as long as she lives because it will worsen her condition. However, she wants to live because she loves Lian Cheng. What a pickle.

[Ep26] Tan'er and Mo Lian Cheng tell their friends the truth about their identity, stuff like they're from a different dimension. Everyone (Jing Xin, Yu Hao, Mo Feng Yang, Yu Xiu, Mo Jing Xuan) accepts this preposterous truth.

Mo Yan Chen is back! Is Alen Fang Yi Lun a cameo in this drama? There's so little scenes of him and his new wife. That's really all I have to say about him.

Tan'er is arrested for being an impostor Princess. There needs to be more investigations but for the time being Tan'er is imprisoned. She's actually enjoying prison-food which she calls a type of congee xD

[Ep27] Mo Yan Chen now knows this Tan'er is not his Tan'er. His Tan'er died because of Qu Mei'er. She gives him a knife to kill her with but he takes that knife and stabs himself. While Mo Yan Chen is broody and moody, Dad Mo is like Perfect! Lemme tell my son how his mother sacrificed for this nation for Emperor Qu and he'll be on my side!

Xiao Zhen is loyal to the Emperor because she is his saviour. He will do anything for her. The Emperor's plan is this: take Tan'er's body (because hers is dying). This is why she promoted Tan'er to be the Crown Prince and married her to Mo Lian Cheng so that once she takes over Tan'er's body, she still has everything she wants. The problem is the method they chose will sacrifice Xiao Zhen. Poor guy...

[Ep28] The switch is complete! Emperor is in Tan'er''s body. Xiao Zhen dies...and he turns into dust... What is this dude? Meanwhile Tan'er's soul is nowhere to be seen.

Actually. Tan'er's soul is still in her own body but it's suppressed by the Emperor's. It takes a while, but Mo Lian Cheng discovers his Tan'er has switched. He confronts the Emperor. The Emperor drops her act as Tan'er and threatens Mo Lian Cheng she'll harm her body (Tan'er's) if he doesn't do as she says.

[Ep29] Emperor kills Dad Mo by using Qu Mei'er.

Mo Yan Chen will avenge his father. The Emperor had predicted this. She sets a trap for Mo Yan Chen. However, Qu Mei'er dies to protect him. It's a futile death, though. The Emperor pretends to be Tan'er and when Mo Yan Chen lets his guard down she kills him too.

Three dead in one episode? Is this real?

[Ep30] Mo Lian Cheng performs a mask dance for the Emperor but it was a decoy so that he could leave during the performance. The choreography was cool to watch. So synchronized. I had it on at 1.5x speed, though. Mo Lian Cheng is trying to recover the Soul Suppressing Orb.

The Emperor finds Mo Lian Cheng in this weird place that has a cliff. He begins to play a soul awakening music(?? I don't know, I made that up). We see Tan'er struggling to overcome the Emperor in her own body. The Emperor eventually regains control. She points her sword at Mo Lian Cheng. It's déjà vu with Season 1 when Xiang Tan killed "Lian Cheng". She remembers when Lian Cheng died he told her his love for her was destined to end when she chose hatred. The current Emperor drops her sword. She realizes the current Mo Lian Cheng is not her "Lian Cheng". She falls off the cliff. We see her clearly fall down miles and miles but when Mo Lian Cheng flies to save her from the edge of the cliff, a hand grabs onto his. It's Tan'er's.

djlsfjklsdjasdf !

They're back in their world! Their son (Yu'er) is still here. Mo Lian Cheng is the Emperor again; he promotes gender equality, allowing women the right to enter politics. Their Yu'er is the new owner of the Soul Suppressing Orb.

Mo Lian Cheng wants a daughter. He promises to help Tan'er with feeding, cleaning, changing etc. Tan'er isn't happy with that. It's the choice of words. What does he mean by "help"? Is it a woman's job to do all the child-rearing and men are just "helping"? Mo Liang Cheng corrects himself: he'll do everything (except breastfeeding). Tan'er approves.

Kiss!

The end.

Remarks

[First Impression (Ep1-5)] Season Three's story is layered over the previous seasons and honestly, I can’t remember them. I know I really liked season one, and not so much season two. Having two MLs was a bummer. And now I get double FLs. Great.

I also don't like how the ML has amnesia five times in five episodes. Did I count right? I may not have. He’ll remember her and then after a kiss, he’ll forget her. I’m assuming this is a phase in the drama that should be over, hopefully, within ten episodes but I’m already annoyed.

Also Fang Yi Lun (Alen Fang) is yet again a second lead who doesn’t get the girl he likes. Maybe he’ll be happy with Zhou Zi Xin’s character... Meanwhile Wang Rui Chang (Richards Wang) is no longer in this season. I guess he's tired of losing.

[Update (Ep13&14)] Okay guys, I have finally warmed up to this season. These episodes had me laughing out loud. However, I'm not at all paying attention to the plot involving the Emperor/Empress or Mo Liang Cheng’s dad. I'm here for the comedy. I am also glad that Cheng Cheng stays in one state (amnesiac) for a longer period. I don't like characters flipping back and forth. I need a sense of consistency.

[Actors/Actresses] Part of the reason why I wasn't so keen about The Eternal Love 3 is because of Liang Jie. It was a terrible idea to watch so many episodes of her previous drama: Times Flies and You Are Here. The plot was annoying but, my gosh, Liang Jie was aw-ful. Her expressions, her intonation, everything was off about her. It took me a dozen episodes of this to cleanse my memory of that Liang Jie. I like her as Tan'er but I will be very hesitant on starting her new dramas from now on.

Liu Luo Xi as Su Yue La. I wonder if she's from the same company as Liang Jie. They've already been in two other dramas together: Times Flies and bleh, and Mr. Honesty. I like her here. She's funny as a female-eunuch(???). What is she?

I also want to give a shout out to Jing Xin (actress: Sun Yi Ning) for her upgraded hairstyle! I can't believe she's the same actress from Dream Detective. She's unbelievably versatile.

Fang Yi Lun (Alen Fang)! Yikes. He has such a pitiful expression 90% of the time. Are these the only roles he gets to choose from? D:

[Behind the Scenes

[Ending] Happy! They return to their own world. Their kid is alive.

The Emperor is Qu Xiang Tan. She dies in the alternate Dongyue world. Her death allows our couple to return to their Dongyue. I can't help but wonder how Tan'er and Qu Xiang Tan can exist together but I know this is not the drama to be thinking about logic. I know. Gosh.

I don't how I feel about half the people dying in that other Dongyue, though. This season added so many characters...for the sake of adding characters...

Also, I want to stop feeling bad for Fang Yi Lun (Alen Fang).

Final Review

[Review] The third season in three words: hilarious, illogical, nostalgic. Anyone up for a Season Four?
