When Tian Zhen Met Love
[Ep1] Li Tian Zhen is a new architect intern under her devil supervisor Meng Yan. Out of all the interns he had, he only calls Li Tian Zhen by her full name. He gives her a crazy amount of workload and she rises to the occasion each time. Although he bullies her at work, she's no weakling. She's sarcastic to him and will glare at him (when he deserves it which seems likes he deserves it all the time). The reason she can be so confident in front of him is because she knows she has skills that he values.
[Ep2] Our Boss is Still Childish. Meng Yan phones Li Tian Zhen at night about "work". She answers but tells him to shut it as she continues to play her piano. The piece turns dark and the tempo is quickened, heh. He smiles and listens. Who knows how long it's been until she talks to him again. Meng Yan's call is to tell her to add him back on Wechat again (for work purposes, of course). This could have been done with a simple friend request from him but he wants her to add him. After she does add him, the file he sends to her is the food he made for himself.
The Third Friend. Lu Yi Ming volunteers at the orphanage. He tells the children a simple story of his name. His surname used to be "Zhang Jing" but his two best friends found his name weird so Qiao Ke changed it to "Lu" and Li Tian Zhen gave his name "Yi Ming". A little girl asks him if he likes his name. He answers, "Whatever name Li Tian Zhen gives me, I'll happily take it."
Fluttering Moment. Back at the dinner, Li Tian Zhen realizes Meng Yan knows Fang Fang's name. He just never calls anyone's name because he doesn't recognize their abilities. Li Tian Zhen smiles to herself because that means he approves of her. Naturally, they smile at each other but then they probably think it's too friendly between them so both their smiles drop in a flash. Lol, these two are perfect for each other.
小二. In the morning, Meng Yan picks up Li Tian Zhen (because her car is still parked at the company). Mom overhears. Li Tian Zhen calls her supervisor "小二" (Little Number Two) because he’s the second person she hates the most. What if she has a third person she hates, 小三? Hahaha. After hearing that, Mom happily prepares an extra breakfast for him.
[Ep3] Meng Yan Being Sly 1. In the elevator Meng Yan purposely makes a coworker misunderstand about the breakfast Li Tian Zhen's mother gave Meng Yan. She's about to yell at him when they're in his office but he's quicker at locking his door. Through the blinds, she glares at him while he enjoys the food to his heart's content.
[Ep6] Meng Yan Being Sly 4. Li Tian Zhen arrives at MJ. She juts her chin as she observes the territory. He's like Are you going to kill me (with words) later or kill me immediately? Neither. She wants him to look into his dirty heart, admit his sins and beg for her forgiveness. That's too much of a hassle for him. He rather have his punishment now. In front of her is a hanger, a keyboard, and a pile of nuts. He tells her to choose one. What is this, lol. She gulps at the random items (to hit him with??). She doesn’t want any of them. Still in a "Your-Highness" mode, she orders him to kneel.

Our Boss is Childish. Meng Yan is downright childish. He called Li Tian Zhen six times which she disconnected every time. Thus, he pettily makes her call him seven times. Hahaha.
Friendship is Precious. Li Tian Zhen and Qiao Ke are best friends in the same company. Qiao Ke is in HR. I really like the scenes between these two, they seem like true friends. She's renting with Lu Yi Ming who is also their best friend. Lu Yi Ming asks Qiao Ke why she won't let Li Tian Zhen in their condo. Qiao Ke doesn't want Li Tian Zhen to see their living condition. It's a little too cramped. Lu Yi Ming doesn't understand why; although Li Tian Zhen is rich, he knows she won't look down on them. Qiao Ke knows too. She also knows Li Tian Zhen too well: knowing that they're poor is one thing, seeing that they're poor is another thing. True!

His reply: "You're not my girlfriend, why do I have to care about you?” Shortly after, he fires Fang Fang for her incompetency. Qiao Ke complains. His team is now down to two people: himself and Li Tian Zhen. He fires back: "Li Tian Zhen can do the work of ten people." It's just that Li Tian Zhen doesn't want to do the work of ten people. Li Tian Zhen doesn't think it's fair for Fang Fang and applies to transfer to another team. Meng Yan gives in but asks her to give him a week's time to find a new intern to replace her.
"Am I your girlfriend?" Meng Yan tempts Li Tian Zhen with a new project: the reconstruction of an orphanage (the one Lu Yi Ming and Qiao Ke grew up in). He gives her three seconds to get into his car otherwise she can't touch the project. At the last second she jumps for the back door and he locks it immediately. Lol. He wants her to sit in the passenger seat. She says, "Am I your girlfriend? That seat is the passenger seat." At his request, she sits there anyways. Loving all these snappy dialogues. Before they talk about work, they have dinner first. He sits next to her and suddenly there's silence between them. He peeks at her looking at the menu. Ah, this is the moment he realizes he likes her.

The rest of the interviews are held in the car by Meng Yan where he ridicules every one of them. Li Tian Zhen drives on the side.
Meng Yan Being Sly 3. At a meeting, Meng Yan praises Li Tian Zhen to the ceiling and gets her a (3x) pay raise from the CEO. However, it also makes others (more specifically, Hu Xian) jealous. After the meeting, Li Tian Zhen angrily waits for Meng Yan in his room. She exposes his motives; since he got her a raise in front of the boss, she can't change teams anymore otherwise she'd look like a traitor. Not like she wants to leave anyways. He changes the topic to work (orphanage project). His idea is the same as hers and she hates it that she can't yell at him anymore.
Lu Yi Ming teases Li Tian Zhen that she's staying at work because she likes Meng Yan. He thinks they match well.
Meng Yan Being Happy.The next morning Meng Yan looks gloomily at Li Yian Zhen's empty seat. He's worried she's not coming into work anymore after storming off yesterday. When she calls him, he finally smiles. She tells him she's going to be late. He gives her five minutes. He's way too happy she's reporting in for work.
[Ep4] Li Tian Zhen Cares. Li Tian Zhen watches Meng Yan from outside his office. Just from his back, she notices he's unhappy. Awww. They then talk about work and their design. They really do share the same passion and work ethics. After sharing there ideas, he's happy again.
[Ep5] Fired. Li Tian Zhen is fired by Meng Yan because someone has to take responsibility for leaking their boss's (Guo Yuan Yuan) affair with Ding Yan Ming (the other team's leader) who is married. Guo Yuan Yuan wanted to fire both her and Meng Yan but she needs his expertise. Li Tian Zhen packs her stuff to leave. Meng Yan tells her to prepare a box for him too. He quits with her. The one who leaked it is most likely Guo Yuan Yuan herself to force Ding Yan Ming to divorce.
Qiao Ke’s Feelings. Qiao Ke brings dinner for Li Tian Zhen and Meng Yan for their OT. She who usually buys branded coffee for Li Tian Zhen and convenience store ones for herself bought a more expensive dinner for Meng Yan! Oh nooooo, will the friendship be ruined because of love? When Li Tian Zhen is absorbed in her work, Meng Yan switches out his dinner with hers and even gives her half of his.
Lu Yi Ming’s Feelings. Lu Yi Ming picks up Qiao Ke. He's way too happy just letting her lean on his shoulder. Ah, what a sweet boy. I have prepared my heart to hurt for you.
Meng Yan Being Nice. Meng Yan brings Li Tian Zhen to his office/home to finish the rest of the project because the rest of team is useless anyways. She falls asleep. He covers her with a blanket and quietly leaves with his laptop to work elsewhere. She's already awake. He lies that he's leaving because her sleeping face is ugly. She exposes all his lies and asks him, "Is it that hard to admit that you're being nice to your employee?" Right? She plops herself down on his sofa and happily chows down on the food he ordered for her. Meng Yan smiles.
Jobless. Li Tian Zhen can't find a new job. Guo Yuan Yuan won't let any other company hire her. She's not the only one blocking Li Tian Zhen's path, her father is too. Her father wants her to work at his company (not architecture).
Not Jobless. Meng Yan establishes MJ Architect (Mai Jing). There's a special spot he left for Li Tian Zhen.

Okay, enough with the role-plays. Meng Yan confesses he fired her so that he can re-hire her. If she was fired (which she is), he'd leave with her (which he did) but it wouldn't be the same if he was fired first; she’d never leave with him. True. She hammers down on his foot and leaves him hanging. He deserved that.
Li Tian Zhen's father and mother are divorced. Oh so he's 小一 (the number one person she "hates").
Li Tian Zhen’s “Pregnancy". Meng Yan ruins Li Tian Zhen's job as a ballerina teacher by claiming she's pregnant with his child. That's going too far, dude. Li Tian Zhen ends up being angrier at her new boss for his discrimination against hiring pregnant women. Meng Yan heroically and dramatically takes her out of the office only to be caught by security guards. That last scene was so unnecessarily chaotic, lol.
[Ep7] Lu Yi Ming bails out Li Tian Zhen and Meng Yan from the police station. The three of them go out for lunch and Meng Yan is fuming with jealously. They're sharing food and Li Tian Zhen won't let him touch hers.
Li Tian Zhen is home. She freezes at the door when she sees her parents together in one space. He's home to convince her to work at the company. Li Tian Zhen ain't interested.
Meng Yan calls Li Tian Zhen for work purposes. He wants her over at his office. She makes him wait because she's having dinner with her family. Gosh, she's been eating all day today. Her family this time is Qiao Ke and Lu Yi Ming. He says he'll just starve waiting for her, not like she cares. She cares, lol. Li Tian Zhen is at his place and he tells her the passcode (090606) to enter. He pretends to be dazed and she plays along and snaps him back to reality. Cute.
Meng Yan shows Li Tian Zhen his portfolio. She finds loneliness in his design. She singles out the one piece she likes. He muses that no one else likes that design except her. It's actually his dream home. She asks him what happened that year he made this design but he changes the topic to a presentation he made to convince her to join his one-man company. She smiles as he talks about his aspiration to renovate old cities. I love how they're smiling at each other while he shares his passion to her.
[Ep8] Qiao Ke cries over Meng Yan flatly telling her he wouldn't hire her as an architect after she showed him her designs.
Li Tian Zhen reports to work at Meng Yan's company. He brews her coffee while she looks over the contract. Aw, he prepared her cup. There's only two tea cups in the office; one for her and one for him. However, her father calls her. He's downstairs. Meng Yan's expression darkens. His fist clenches at the sight of her father. Omg, what is this? A revenge drama?? :O
Li Tian Zhen and Meng Yan are on a business trip in this poor village. She's afraid to sleep alone in the building and tugs onto her shirt. In her words, he's safer than strangers. That's probably the best compliment he's heard from her so far. He assures her he's in the next building right next to hers. He walks her to her room first. She falls and we get a physical skinship between them.
Meng Yan wasn't lying when he said his building is close to hers. They can easily shake each other's hands. Is that safe? :O Where's privacy?
A girl asks Lu Yi Ming to buy a flower for his girlfriend (aka Qiao Ke). With his back turned to her, he bargains with the girl in sign language to cut her price in half. Hahaha. Qiao Ke heard the silence and knew immediately he was bargaining. Lol.
Qiao Ke asks Gao Yuan Yuan if she can hire Li Tian Zhen again. Omg. Qiao Ke wants to separate Li Tian Zhen from Meng Yan and Gao Yuan Yuan sees through her motives.
Lu Yi Ming needs help to prove that he has a girlfriend to his coworkers. He calls Li Tian Zhen over and opens his arm for her. He scowls at her to hug him. Smiling like an angel, she embraces him but her other hand is pinching him. His coworkers are staring at them from the window. Haha.
It's raining cats and dogs. Meng Yan trudges through ankle high water to pick up Li Tian Zhen. It is romantic, but I think the music for this scene is way too romantic, lol.
[Ep9] Li Tian Zhen grimaces at the thought of walking through the water. Meng Yan gives her two options: princess carry or piggyback. She hesitantly chooses piggyback. Qiao Ke is here with the Manager Ding to assess the area as well. Li Tian Zhen tells Meng Yan to piggy back Qiao Ke instead.
Meng Yan: I can only carry one.Li Tian Zhen: Then exchange one for the other.Meng Yan: I only carry this one. Hehehe.
They've already passed the high waters but Meng Yan continues to carry her. She's falling in love ~ Li Tian Zhen asks Meng Yan why he wouldn't carry Qiao Ke. He lies that she's not his employee and won't have insurance if he drops her. Li Tian Zhen rolls her eyes and pinches him. In response, he spins her around so fast that she can't hold the umbrella steady. She screams his name and he stops spinning. :D
Qiao Ke doesn't get Meng Yan to piggyback her, but she gets a Lu-Yi-Ming-piggyback instead (after she was molested on the bus). Aw, Qiao Ke, please notice this guy. Lu Yi Ming was furious when he learned she was molested but it's too late for him to do anything. The next day he goes and buys a car to pick her up after work! Our penny counter bought her a car immediately after learning she was molested! Lu Yi Ming, come over here! I'll love you instead!
[Ep10] Qiao Ke finally sees Lu Yi Ming's new car. Instead of the happy expression he was expecting, she angrily chases him around the car, lol. She thinks he's overspending. After chasing him around for a few circles, she gives in and happily sits in his new car.
Meng Yan is super drunk and he directs his substitute driver to Li Tian Zhen's place and so she has to tell the substitute driver to take her and Meng Yan back to his place. She spends the night on his couch. In the morning, she prepares (saltless) breakfast for him. She starts asking him about his life, things like why he only has one pair of utensils and slippers, where his parents are, where his friends are, etc. Meng Yan thinks to himself that it's been a long time since anyone asked him about his life.
Lu Yi Ming gives Qiao Ke his car to drive herself home after work. He has a blind date set up for him that he has to go to and won't be able to pick her up. He's sulking that Qiao Ke has nothing to say about his blind date. She asks him how he's heading to work if he's giving her the car. He called a taxi for himself. Ugh, why so sweet?
[Ep11] Lu Yi Ming lied to Qiao Ke that he was on a blinddate (to make her jealous) but he's actually having dinner with Li Tian Zhen and Meng Yan. Li Tian Zhen also lied to Qiao Ke she's working. Thus the two of them hide from her when they see her in the mall. Meng Yan's condition to help them distract Qiao Ke is that Li Tian Zhen can no longer hang up on his calls. It's a deal. Unfortunately, because of that meeting Qiao Ke thinks there's a possibility Meng Yan likes her.
Li Tian Zhen's father purposely gave his daughter a project to make her fail. Meng Yan knows and calls the project a piece of trash but he doesn't expose her father to Li Tian Zhen.
Although Li Tian Zhen promised to not hang up on Meng Yan, it doesn't mean she won't hang up on him. She just won't personally hang up on him. She'll just get someone else to do it.
I love Meng Yan's minute change in facial expression when he learns Li Tian Zhen never dated. He also knows Lu Yi Ming likes Qiao Ke.
[Ep12] There's a typhoon. Meng Yan worries about Li Tian Zhen who lied that she returned home. She's still working at the run down home. Despite the weather, he drives to her to check up on her. Lu Yi Ming and Qiao Ke were on their way too but they see Meng Yan's car zooming by so they turn around.
Meng Yan is injured to protect Li Tian Zhen. He doesn't worry her about it, though. He also lies that he’s here to protect the security cameras he installed in the home. Not her. Without the cams, he can’t record the videos of her renovating the place and can’t promote their company.
[Ep13] After safely spending a night in a rundown home during a typhoon, Meng Yan invites Li Tian Zhen to his place for breakfast. He’ll make her something good. She’s a little tempted but she meets with Qiao Ke first and tells her about how Meng Yan went back to protect her. Although he didn't say it, the way he was worried about her was too real. He’s like a coffee: bitter at first but the more you drink it, the sweeter it gets.
Meng Yan buys couple slippers (his is black and hers is white) and a new set of utensil for her. The bowls and plate are wrapped in a ribbon for her. Hehe. Li Tian Zhen’s new slippers are a perfect fit for her (Meng Yan looks satisfied).
Li Tian Zhen asks about the slippers: Your girlfriend’s?Meng Yan: If you say yes, then yes. Hehe.Li Tian Zhen silently eats the food he prepared.Meng Yan: Is it good? Can you say something?Li Tian Zhen: If it’s good, don’t you know?Meng Yan: I want you to tell me.Li Tian Zhen coldly replies: Good.Meng Yan nods happily.Li Tian Zhen: You like being complimented by others that much?Meng Yan: Who doesn’t like being complimented? You like being yelled at? Snickers.
Li Tian Zhen really likes Wan Qing (an anonymous architect). Meng Yan quips that liking his design doesn’t equate to liking the person. She refutes; She likes his design and therefore she likes him! Meng Yan excuses himself to gulp down a bottle of cold water. When he’s back, she throws him a big hug because her idol (Wan Qing) won an award. Li Tian Zhen’s compliments on Wan Qing are endless. Meng Yan’s smug looks are endless too. Meng Yan is Wan Qing.
The reason Li Tian Zhen stayed to work with Meng Yan is because of him. She literally says “because of you” and it’s so casual of her but any other girl saying it to any other guy is very romantic. Although he says he’s just trying to make money off the projects, she can realize her dreams through him. She smiles up cutely at him. He responds with pinching her cheeks.
Meng Yan’s resolve to not fall in love with her is dissolving. I think he failed at this since day one.
Li Tian Zhen sleeps at the “office” on the desk. Meng Yan sleeps next to her. The next morning they casually wake up and she’s packing her stuff to leave to work at the village. He asks her to at least brush her teeth. He has a new toothbrush. When Li Tian Zhen was in the washroom washing her face she wondered if her face scared Meng Yan. Aw, she cares about her appearance in front of him now. Meanwhile, Meng Yan had prepared breakfast for her. Feeling awkward that she’s the only one eating, she leaves half of the food for him. She leaves and smiles at the slippers she’s putting away. He belatedly reacts to her leaving and runs to send her off. She smiles. He smiles. I smile.
The one who leaked the photos of Gao Yuan Yuan’s affair with Ding Yan Ming was Qiao Ke! She wanted to separate Li Tian Zhen and Meng Yan not knowing that would make them even closer. She’s also making her move. She confesses to Meng Yan that she admires him. She knows he likes Li Tian Zhen but she wants to compete for his heart too. Meng Yan rejects her and that rejection was cold! & so straightforward! He tells her he’s curious about everything Li Tian Zhen does but he doesn’t care about her (Qiao Ke) at all. He’d go on and on with this rejection if Qiao Ke hadn’t stopped him from talking. Lu Yi Ming saw this exchange. Qiao Ke doesn’t know he was there but Meng Yan knows.
Meng Yan suffers a small injury from a construction site. He (over-)exaggerates the pain and nags Lu Yi Ming to call Li Tian Zhen. Over the car bluetooth, Meng Yan hears Lu Yi Ming call him “Xiao Er (小二)” Heh. Lu Yi Ming assures Li Tian Zhen that Meng Yan is okay but still, Li Tian Zhen is worried about him and immediately goes to the hospital. Lu Yi Ming sighs that two people are running around for him when it isn’t necessary. Meng Yan grumps that he is free to leave once Li Tian Zhen is here for him, lol.
[Ep14] Qiao Ke is shopping at a mall. She tries to find a place to cry but every corner she turns to (emergency staircase or washroom) it’s full of people. Aw. I feel sad for her. Lu Yi Ming cheers her up. He enthusiastically dances to a song we can’t hear. I love this guy!
Meng Yan is mostly okay (with a neck brace on). He just wants Li Tian Zhen to care for him like a baby. She leads him back to his room by putting his hand to her shoulder. He tells her to stop. There’s nothing to look at behind her. She turns around and asks him what he wants to look at then. He replies, "Looking at your face is enough.”
Meng Yan complains about the food Li Tian Zhen cooked. He thought she was carelessly making him unappetizing food. Li Tian Zhen turns depressed. She tells him she never cooked before. Whatever he sees before him is the best she can make. She wouldn’t have even spent an hour in the kitchen if it weren’t for him. I thought she was going to suddenly laugh and turn it into an act but she was really depressed. He’s touched and starts eating it claiming it’s delicious.
As Li Tian Zhen shares with Meng Yan her ideal design, she unconsciously condenses the space between them. They’re close enough to kiss. Belatedly, she notices their proximity and awkwardly steps back. She gets back to work and assures him she’ll stay within his vision so that he can see her. Ah, she’s so sweet all of a sudden.
[Ep15*] Next morning, Meng Yan whines and whines until Li Tian Zhen wakes up to fetch him water. She holds the mug for him to drink out of the straw but he’s drinking ever so slowly. He tells her the slower he drinks, the longer his reward is. What’s the reward? Holding her hand that’s holding the mug. Li Tian Zhen slowly takes out there hand, turns away and smiles.
Meng Yan: When my neck is healed, are you not going to take care of me anymore?Li Tian Zhen: Mm.Meng Yan: When my neck is better in the future, then I’ll take care of you...?Li Tian Zhen: Mm.Meng Yan: I-I mean when my neck is better, in the future I’ll take care of you...? Punctuation matters!Li Tian Zhen: Mm!Meng Yan: Do you know what I mean??Li Tian Zhen smiles even wider: Mm!
The whole time, Li Tian Zhen has her back towards Meng Yan. He bends over as straight as he can to see her reaction. Smiling, he tells her to turn around. She turns, controls her smile, and nods a quick “Mm”.
Li Tian Zhen goes home for a bit. Lu Yi Ming takes over the shift and cooks for Meng Yan. He doesn’t let Lu Yi Ming eat from the bowl that belongs to his girlfriend. Lu Yi Ming quickly gobbles down on the food. Heh.
Meng Yan wants to be Li Tian Zhen official boyfriend. He offers his body for the title. It’s a win for her because she gets his body and he only gets a title. She argues that boyfriend title comes with privileges too. Before she agrees to give him the title they lay out what they want from each other. For him, her kindness can only be for him and not another random guy. She can be mad at him but she can’t shut her phone on him. That’s all he has and she agrees to all of it. For her, his safety is her priority. Aw. That’s all she has for him. He smiles and agrees to her only term.
Meng Yan wants her to come closer to him. She listens. He hovers over and kisses her. Aww.
[Ep16] Lu Yi Ming dances his cute, awkward, and funny dance to cheer up Qiao Ke after she found out Li Tian Zhen and Meng Yan are dating.
Meng Yan learns Lu Yi Ming quit his company for him. The injury Meng Yan sustained was because of his company’s staff. He doesn’t think it’s fair Meng Yan isn’t getting his due compensation and so Lu Y Ming quit. Aw, Meng Yan gets a girlfriend and a brother. I feel that Lu Yi Ming is just as precious as Li Tian Zhen for Meng Yan. Together with Li Tian Zhen, Lu Yi Ming takes care of Meng Yan but the couple keeps flirting in front of him. Lu Yi Ming is the awkward (cute) lightbulb. Lol.
Meng Yan formally meets Li Tian Zhen’s mother. They both cook for the girl they love. The mother tells him that Li Tian Zhen has a nickname for him (Xiao Er ‘小二'). It’s nothing good but to mom, she knows it’s a special nickname. The first person Li Tian Zhen hates is her own father. It’s a nickname for people she wants to be close with.
Meng Yan hires Lu Yi Ming. The cutenesses of these two are on par with our main couple.
Li Tian Zhen asks Qiao Ke to consider Lu Yi Ming. Qiao Ke says that family cannot be replaced. He’s special to her in that way.
I’ve been meaning to say this a few episodes ago. Was Zhu Jia Qi (Lu Yi Ming) this buff in Healer of Children? He’s got such a small face compared to his build.
[Ep17] Meng Yan reminds Li Tian Zhen she can’t be too close to Lu Yi Ming. They’re coworkers. Li Tian Zhen grabs Meng Yan's ears and playfully tug it. He points out that this action is only for him. Li Tian Zhen then gives him a peck on the cheek.
Ding Yan Ming is in quitting mode. The way he shows up at work is begging Guo Yuan Yuan to fire him.
Meng Yan is angry at Li Tian Zhen for disappearing on him all day. She was at a meeting with her parents at her father’s company. In Meng Yan’s voiceover, he tells us he wasn’t angry at Li Tian Zhen going MIA, he was just curious what she had her father talked about. Hm...what, is he dating her for revenge? It really doesn’t seem like that, though! Upon seeing her cook for herself, he gives her a back hug and ends up cooking instead (the thing he said he wasn’t going to do).
[Ep18] There's another man waiting for his girl to come home. It's Lu Yi Ming. Qiao Ke was having dinner to thank the manager who she had asked to find Lu Yi Ming a job. Lu Yi Ming uses cleaning as an excuse to wait for Qiao Ke. When she offers to clean, Lu Yi Ming smiles up, "Having you watch me clean is enough." Where do girls find these men!! Qiao Ke blissfully sighs that having Lu Yi Ming in her life is enough. She doesn't even want to date anyone anymore. Lu Yi Ming freezes. Qiao Ke has never even thought of Lu Yi Ming as a man. He drops all his cleaning pronto. Lu Yi Ming needs to move out ASAP to make her know what she's missing out on.
Both Guo Yuan Yuan and Li Tian Zhen's father want to hire Meng Yan. Both companies are competing for the same project and want Meng Yan as their architect. Meng Yan chooses Guo Yuan Yuan. Well, now Li Tian Zhen is in an awkward spot. However, she still shows up at the press conference to support her boss. Work is work after all. She will always support him.
Meng Yan takes Li Tian Zhen out for a night date. He asks her if he's planning to tell her what has been upsetting her. Li Tian Zhen still hasn't told him Li Jun is her father (even though he knows it already). She doesn't want to dump her negative emotions on him. Getting her to talk isn't working, so he texts her instead. He permits her to be recklessly angry. He's not good at comforting people but he'll do it for her. She texts back that she wants to grow into a good and reasonable girlfriend. Meng Yan would rather her never grow up if she's going to be gloomy like that. Aw.
[Ep19] Seeing the tears in Li Tian Zhen's eyes, Meng Yan pulls her in for a warm hug. He wipes her tears and moves in to kiss her. She shifts away because there’s someone nearby. He stops but soon after he gives her a surprise kiss. Li Tian Zhen is smiling again.
Our poor Lu Yi Ming doesn’t get love at home but is showered with someone else’s love (Meng Yan and Li Tian Zhen’s). Poor guy xD.
Meng Yan uses Li Tian Zhen to garner pity against the press (it’s some business tactic). Li Tian Zhen hates being used. Her father used her and now Meng Yan is doing the same. Spitefully, she tells him to breakup.
Unbeknownst to Lu Yi Ming, his magic is working on Qiao Ke. During dinner with that manager, she’s constantly thinking of Lu Yi Ming and ends up cancelling dinner (when she’s already there) just to come home early. Lu Yi Ming pretends to be busy with work but when she’s not looking, he’s grinning.
[Ep20] Lu Yi Ming and Qiao Ke lie to each other they had dinner when they didn’t. Thus in the middle of the night, both of them are hiding to eat.
Dad is worried about Li Tian Zhen after the fake interview. He thought she was hurt but when he hears her piano, he’s scared of her now. However, his reasons to see her aren’t pure either. He needs her help to get Meng Yan to sign the contract with his company.
Meng Yan calls Li Tian Zhen to ask her if she was serious about breaking up. She is. Meng Yan: "Then I'll pursue you again." Li Tian Zhen can't accept his ways and hangs up on him. I'm really not liking Meng Yan's dark side. I don't know whether I should take it seriously. I want to believe he loves her despite whatever evil comments he's making in his heart.
Lu Yi Ming's comment about Meng Yan possibly being family makes the former happy. Meng Yan smiles until Lu Yi Ming said something like this: Because if a dog is added to the family, I'd be really happy, let alone a human being. LOL. The whole conversation was funny but that dog comment made me laugh out loud.
Meng Yan's condition to work with Li Jun (Dad) is that Li Tian Zhen has to meet up with him. Thus, Dad creates a fake Wan Qing to fool her daughter. Yikes. Li Tian Zhen is surrounded by these type of men. However, Li Tian Zhen ditches her idol to find Meng Yan (her real idol) because he's with her drunk brother, Lu Yi Ming.
[Ep21] Meng Yan apologizes to Li Tian Zhen; he did put on a show but the interview wasn’t all a lie. There was some truths and some lies. Why is it that I feel like he’s explaining more than just the interview? Li Tian Zhen softens. She wasn’t serious about breaking up. He asks her if she can forgive him. She walks away but stops in her tracks. She puts her hand behind her back with her palm towards him. Meng Yan grins and quickly walks up to take her hand.
Meng Yan finds Li Tian Zhen particularly beautiful when she changed into slippers in his home. He compliments her for it and she’s like of course. She’s the female owner of his home.
Qiao Ke’s mother pester Qiao Ke for money. Qiao Ke complains about “family". Lu Yi Ming promises they’ll never be like that.
Li Tian Zhen confesses to Meng Yan she met up with Wan Qing. That’s preposterous to Meng Yan because he is Wan Qing. Out of jealously and anger, Meng Yan agrees to work with Li Jun. He doesn’t want no fake Wan Qing fooling Tian Zhen.
Qiao Ke loves Tian Zhen and also envies her. When her mother and brother left her, she only had Tian Zhen. Tian Zhen is her sky (Tian = 天 = sky). When Tian Zhen is happy she’s even happier. But their relationship is like a candle. Tian Zhen is the light, she’s the wax. Lu Yi Ming points out her inferiority. He wants her to believe Qiao Ke is equal to them. Qiao Ke hears it differently. She thinks Lu Yi Ming values Tian Zhen and her mother more. And it’s not like she doesn’t want to be family with Li Tian Zhen. She doesn’t think she deserves so many good things that don’t belong to her. The fight between Qiao Ke and Lu Yi Ming was over as quickly as it started. Lu Yi Ming has the best temperament ever. The way he makes her happy again makes me feel warm.
[Ep22] Tian Zhen tells Meng Yan she believes him. He reminds her he lied to her.
Tian Zhen: Still, I believe you. Cue my favourite bgm.
At the bidding for the project, Team Meng Yan and Li Jun win. Everyone is happy. Not. Meng Yan is disgusted with himself after he shared a celebratory dinner with Li Jun. He also won’t let Tian Zhen touch him. It’s like her touching him makes him cave in to his desires. He wants to hate her but he can’t. Meng Yan is a little drunk after the dinner. Dialogues are roughly transcribed.
Meng Yan: I think I’m getting worse at acting in front of you.Li Tian Zhen: Then, don’t act.Meng Yan: Then how do we stay together.
Whoops. But he mends his own holes. “I’m pretending to be strong. I want to share everything with you.”
Li Tian Zhen responds ever so lovingly: Then share with me your woes. I want to know you happiness and your sorrows. Anything about you, I care. Meng Yan, I know you’re going to hurt her a bit but don’t hurt her too much!
Li Tian Zhen sweetly takes care of a drunk Meng Yan. He looks up at her and tells her, “I love you.” She heard it but asks him to repeat it. He won’t. Instead, as she’s walking away, he mumbles "Mrs. Meng". Li Tian Zhen reacts to it but he pretends he said nothing. She walks away again and he calls her Mrs. Meng again. She plays his game. Right by his ear, she whispers “Husband” in his ears. Meng Yan hides his face in his hand. He tells her “I love you” again. These two <3.
Qiao Ke’s mother visits her. She wants money from her daughter. Qiao Ke really doesn’t have it easy. Girl, you have Lu Yi Ming!! She calls Lu Yi Ming! Yes! She’s not saying anything; she only listens to his voice as he asks her about dinner. She silently cries. Lu Yi Ming can tell from the silence. Stifling her sobs she tells him it’s nothing and quickly hangs up. Lu Yi Ming drops everything to run to her.
Lu Yi Ming is at the counter looking for her. The secretary pages Qiao Ke that a Mr. Lu is here. The line is immediately disconnected. Within seconds, Qiao Ke appears in front to Lu Yi Ming. Her bag is already in her hand. She’s ready to leave with him. Lu Yi Ming’s grin!! He gives his arm to her. Qiao Ke gleefully hooks onto it. She asks him why he doesn’t ask her what’s wrong. He won’t; he knows she’ll tell him when she wants to.
The reconstruction of the village begins. It’s the village where Li Tian Zhen, Qiao Ke and Lu Yi Ming grew up in. To Tian Zhen this place holds many of her happiest memories. However, to Meng Yan this place is his nightmare. Hmmmmmm.
[Ep23] Han Sen visits Li Jun. They're brother-in-laws (Tian Zhen's maternal uncle). He has terminal cancer and there's only one thing he's guilty about. He wants to apologize to the family (Meng Yan's). However, Li Jun reminds him it was an accident. They already paid all the compensation. However, Han Sen wants to tell that family the truth.
Meng Yan recalls a bit of his past. Two men in suits forced Meng Yan to sign a contract (a one-time payment for his father's work related death). I guess signing it means clearing the company of any fault in his father's death. Also, on the contract Meng Yan's real name is Wan Qing. The men tell Meng Yan they're forced by Li Jun to do so. They also make themselves look pitiful to make him sign the contract. Later, his relatives (aunts and uncles) would come knocking on his door to borrow money. Ah, family can be so beautiful.
After Meng Yan finds out his relatives have been searching for him, he mutters, "I'm going to have to speed my plans." The next scene of him: he's buying a ring. Omg. I can't even enjoy the romantic part of this without fearing for Tian Zhen. The salesperson introduces a ring from this Loveline brand. One ID can only buy one of these rings. It is truly a one in a lifetime ring. Meng Yan settles on this ring. He buys it immediately because he wants to propose today.
The Proposal. Li Tian Zhen accepts! He goes for a hug but she stops him with her stretched out arms.
Li Tian Zhen: You're mine now. You can't make me worried anymore.
Lu Yi Ming rings Meng Yan at this sweet romantic moment. Li Tian Zhen picks up the call for Meng Yan and warns him Meng Yan is now hers, he better be more polite. Lu Yi Ming yells louder on the phone for them to come back to work. Hahaha.
Mom isn't impressed with Meng Yan. Li Tian Zhen joins dinner alone to tell her family (Mom, Qiao Ke, and Lu Yi Ming) she's engaged. If Meng Yan respects her and her family, he should be here to share this happy news. That's because he hates her family....
Han Sen really wants to apologize. From a neighbour, he finds out the current Wan Qing changed his name and is a famous architect now.
[Ep24] Han Shen finds Wan Qing/Meng Yan to explain his father’s death. Meng Yan’s father warned a worker to put on his safety equipment but the worker was too young and too naive. As a result he fell from the scaffold. Three people died. The father, the worker, and a man under the scaffold. The death is also related to the faulty scaffold. The manufacturer of the scaffold was his friend thus why there was no incident report. The whole accident was swept under the carpet. Meng Yan doesn’t believe Han Sen could have orchestrated this alone but Han Sen takes all the blame.
Also! Qiao Ke’s brother is the worker who died. That’s why Han Yun (Tian Zhen’s mother) has been taking care of Qiao Ke! Han Sen tells Meng Yan that Qiao Ke is way better in Han Yun’s care than her own parents who value boys over girls. OMG. Please don’t turn into a melodrama!! Please don’t let Qiao Ke be evil!
Honestly I don’t know how Meng Yan can resolve his hatred and love. He wants to do everything with Tian Zhen but he hates her family so much.
It's breakfast and because I like the dialogue, I'll transcribe it:
Li Tian Zhen: In the past, I hated it whenever you were next to me. Now I hate it when you're not next to me.Meng Yan: I'm that important now?Li Tian Zhen: Yes. Proud, now? Happy?Meng Yan: Then you must think of a way for me to stay next to you.Li Tian Zhen: You're not a cat or a dog. How can I limit your freedom?Meng Yan: Law can limit my freedom and allow me to bind to you as a lifetime imprisonment.Li Tian Zhen: You voluntarily surrendering isn't a bad idea. Meng Yan and Tian Zhen are officially engaged and invite the rest for a formal dinner. Qiao Ke is genuinely happy to hear the news. Please let the good stay! Meng Yan takes Tian Zhen wedding dress shopping.
[Ep25] Lu Yi Ming's magic seems to be working on Qiao Ke! He buys her a professional toolkit for cleaning ears. He says he needs to take care of her because Han Sen (their uncle) told him too. He'll take care of her and she'll take care of his ears as per uncle's words. There's a Chinese saying 耙耳朵 "Rake one's ears" which means to be under the wife's orders (Dictionary says this is "henpecked"). Lu Yi Ming is offering his ears for her. Hehe.
Li Jun is onto Meng Yan being Wan Qing.
Meng Yan is off to pick up his mother. He grabs Li Tian Zhen for a tight hug. He says he misses her. She smiles and tells him they're going to see each other soon for their engagement dinner. He still misses her. Ah, so the storm that was forecasted is finally starting.
The Storm. Meng Yan returns to the engagement dinner but his mom isn't with him. Meng Yan tells Li Tian Zhen that his mother isn't here and the person who knows why is Li Jun. The reveals begin! Meng Yan is Wan Qing. His father is one of the three people who died on the construction site headed by Li Jun. One of the other victim is Qiao Ke's brother. Dun dun dun. Li Tian Zhen’s mom doesn't know any of this. Oh, phew. I was a little sad she cared for Qiao Ke for that reason.
[Ep26] Meng Yan tells everyone how he was threatened by Li Jun’s men to accept the compensation and to not inform the police by using his mother's health to threaten him. Li Jun doesn't think he has done anything wrong. He did all that he could (to compensate). It's safe to say this engagement party is ruined. Meng Yan takes his leave.
Li Tian Zhen chases after Meng Yan. There's one last clarification she needs. Lifting her hand to show their engagement ring...
Li Tian Zhen: What about "Us"?Meng Yan: I am me. You are you. Between you and me, there can never be "Us".
Meng Yan said that but when Li Tian Zhen visits the next day, he runs out to meet her, forgetting to change out of his slippers. He’s kind of frozen as she has to tug at his hand to lead him back home. When she lets go, it's like he doesn't know how to walk anymore. She walks back to drag him by the hand again. When they're at his door, he makes her enter his combo. She asks him if she hasn't changed it. He hasn't.
Li Tian Zhen here to ask him about their construction project (Yun Xia Village). It's collapsing under the rain. Meng Yan knew this would happen with the material they used. He reveals to Li Tian Zhen everything he did to get to his revenge. Li Tian Zhen connects the rest of the dots: he used her to get to her father. Her heart chills as she recounts how he must have been disgusted at himself for pretending to love her. She admits she lost everything to him. As Meng Yan blocks her path to leave, she stares him in the eye...
Li Tian Zhen: I don't have anything else to lose to you.
As she leaves Meng Yan's home, Qiao Ke is here to visit Meng Yan. Qiao Ke won't talk to Li Tian Zhen and walks by her. It's Lu Yi Ming who chases after her and gives her the warm embrace she needs. Awww :(. Lu Yi Ming recognized Li Tian Zhen needed him. Everyone had left her; he needed to prove that he's with her. Lu Yi Ming!!! That embrace he gave her just pushed all the tears from my eyes.
Qiao Ke is here to ask Meng Yan about the accident involving her brother. She also asks him if his love towards Tian Zhen was all for revenge. He can’t answer. Lu Yi Ming answers that for him with a kick to Meng Yan's chest.
What does Meng Yan want from Li Jun now that everything is revealed? He wants him to admit his crimes to the police.
[Ep27] Li Tian Zhen visits Meng Yan’s old home. She wants to see what his past was like. Meng Yan coldly shows it to her. He warns her to not touch anything because it belongs to his late parents. His mother died soon after his father did. His mother didn’t want to use the money for her therapy because she wanted to leave it for Meng Yan. After hearing his parents story, Li Tian Zhen smiles that his parents would have wanted him to be happy. Meng Yan glances at her and admits, “That’s something I can’t do anymore.” He doesn’t look happy that she’s here but I think deep down he wants her to know more about him.
Li Tian Zhen sympathizes with Meng Yan and will try to convince her father to turn himself in. However, she then follows up by asking him for the “box” to save the construction project. Ah, girl, why are you freezing up his heart that was just starting to melt for you? Now Meng Yan thinks she’s here because of her father. Reproachfully, he tells her to leave.
Does he regret it? He does. Meng Yan chases after her before she leaves. Li Tian Zhen asserts she’s asking about the box for herself, not for her father. She apologizes with a ninety degree bow. That land isn’t just his nightmare. It’s everyone’s nightmare, a piece in their heart that needs to be mended, a piece she wants to fix. She knows he hates her so she won’t visit him anymore.
Qiao Ke and Li Tian Zhen’s mother meet. Mom knew nothing. Adopting Qiao Ke was sincere on her part. But Qiao Ke doesn’t need that sincerity. Nothing can undo her brother’s death (the only family member who loved her). I can’t blame Qiao Ke. I think she just needs time, an outlet for her grief that she never knew of.
Turns out the big baddie isn’t Han Sen or Li Jun (although they still had a part in covering up the work accident), it’s Yan Shou Sheng. He was the guy who supplied the faulty scaffold. He was the one who sent the people to threaten Meng Yan to sign the contract pretending to be under Li Jun’s orders. Li Jun had no part in that.
Han Sen has been making rounds to Yan Shou Sheng and Li Jun to turn themselves in. Yan Shou Sheng definitely won’t. Li Jun says that’s not a solution. However, when Mom tearfully begs Li Jun to help their daughter who just lost her lover and her sister-like-best-friend overnight, Li Jun understands what he needs to do.
[Ep28] The ring Meng Yan ordered is ready for pickup. But he’s got no bride anymore.
Li Tian Zhen asks her mother if Lu Yi Ming left their home because Li Jun returned. She’s worried if Li Yi Ming will distance himself from her because of her father too. Aw.
Han Sen gives Meng Yan the reports detailing the faulty scaffold from Yan Shou Sheng (but the originals are still with Li Jun). Soon after, Han Sen is hunted down by these thugs. He manages to escape and calls Meng Yan. He doesn’t know who’s the one after his life. He can't believe in Li Jun or Yan Shou Sheng because he’s the only witness who’s willing to turn himself in. Han Sen was going to go into hiding but Meng Yan insists he go to the hospital. The importance of this scene: Meng Yan is slowly forgiving the people he hates.
The next day, Li Jun gives Li Tian Zhen the originals via Wen Secretary. Her father had already turned himself in which means she’s now in charge of the company.
Li Tian Zhen visits Meng Yan’s parents’ grave to apologize. Meng Yan catches her and learns of her father which means the killer who wanted Han Sen dead was Yan Shou Sheng. Li Tian Zhen promises him this will be the first and last time she’ll see his parents. If they meet each other by chance, she wants him to pretend nothing happened between them.
Wen Secretary makes his next visit to Meng Yan with a message from Li Jun. Li Jun knows Meng Yan’s love towards Li Tian Zhen is sincere. So dad approves of Meng Yan! One obstacle to their love cleared! But Dad warns Meng Yan to give Li Tian Zhen some time. She’s lost all hope and to rebuild that will need time – a lot of time. Meng Yan only has one response to Li Jun: "Li Tian Zhen and I don’t need other people’s opinion.” Which means there is an “us”! Meng Yan, please get her back and then apologize to her with your life.
Ou! Tian Zhen at the end of the episode is looking like a tough and independent girl. She's the CEO of her father's company (Kuan Di).
Meng Yan grimaces at another couple in the date spot he had with Li Tian Zhen. He wants to text her that the couple isn't as sweet as them and that he misses her but he deletes that text before he even sends it. Meng Yan, you need to grovel to her.
[Ep29] The company (Kuan Di) is practically bankrupt. I love how Secretary Wen spills all the bad news with a gentle smile plastered on his face.
Meng Yan thinks it through: Li Jun already admitted to his crimes, there's no one to hate, what does he have left? Tian Zhen! It's Qiao Ke who invites him for dinner to celebrate Li Jun's arrest. Omg. She's not over him?? He rejects her. He's too busy helping Li Tian Zhen fend off pesky reporters. They escape in her car. He notices this isn't the direction to her home. She's driving him to his home. He asks her if she's coming inside. She's not. She offers to drop him at the next intersection if he doesn't need a ride from her. He immediately replies he needs her – to drive him home. When she arrives at his home, Qiao Ke is waiting for him with dinner prepared. Awkward~ Li Tian Zhen gets out of the car and confronts her best friend what she did wrong to Qiao Ke. I'm hurting for Li Tian Zhen but I think Qiao Ke is pitiful too. Qiao Ke can't stand the nine years she spent at her home thinking they were her saviours. Today is the day Li Jun is arrested. It's a day she thought that Wan Qing can understand her the most; not even Lu Yi Ming can. She confesses one more thing since she's at it: it was her who exposed the picture that had her fired.
Meng Yan runs out of the car to protect Li Tian Zhen because he thought Qiao Ke was going to attack her or something. Through this, Qiao Ke realizes that no matter what happens between them, Meng Yan only loves Li Tian Zhen.
Qiao Ke cries to Lu Yi Ming that everything good belongs to Li Tian Zhen. Why does she receive love so easily? Everything she has was given to her by Li Tian Zhen and yet it's also Li Tian Zhen (family) who took everything away from her. Lu Yi Ming puts a safety helmet over her.
Lu Yi Ming: You only envy what others have and notice what you've lost. You can't see clearly what you received and what others have experienced. This safety hat, if you don't mind, is a gift to you to protect you at the construction site. What you want, I might not be able to give it to you but what I can do is use my all to protect your safety. This (her feelings about Tian Zhen) is something only you can think it through by yourself.
Lu Yi Ming works his magic somewhere else tonight too: Meng Yan's. Meng Yan tells Lu Yi Ming he still has the 'box' that he originally wanted to burn. Lu Yi Ming thinks he kept it because Li Jun surrendered himself. No. He kept it for Li Tian Zhen. He put her through a nightmare and now he wants to save her from that nightmare.
Meng Yan: I spent a long time planning my revenge but now that I've avenged, I don't know how to continue with my life. I spent a long time planning on how to destroy someone but now I have to spend even more time on healing someone.Lu Yi Ming: But to save someone isn't the duty of a patient but a doctor's. Lu Yi Ming is calling him sick.Meng Yan: Thus, I must become a doctor who can save her.Hearing that, Lu Yi Ming makes a decision: I'm not leaving tonight. I'll accompany you. AWWW LU YI MING! I can ship him with everyone! He's forgiven Meng Yan.Meng Yan: You can't. Meng Yan offers the couch. An angry Lu Yi Ming storms to his room. He tells Meng Yan, "You don't deserve a bed. You deserve a sofa." Haha.
In the morning, Meng Yan ignores Lu Yi Ming's 'good morning'. Lu Yi Ming gets his petty revenge and shouts, "Oh Li Tian Zhen! You're here." Meng Yan quickly runs across his living room to check. It's met with Lu Yi Ming's sinister (cute) laughter. Hahahaha.
Meng Yan's plan to save Kuan Di: work with Gao Yuan Yuan. he will give her his expertise and he wants her to raise money for the project to save Kuan Di.
Li Tian Zhen storms out of her meeting because nothing can be solved sitting there. In her office, Meng Yan is there casually saying hi. No wonder Secretary Wen had a sly smile.
[Ep30] Meng Yan is here to help but Li Tian Zhen is suspicious of him. How could he want to save Kuan Di?
Meng Yan: As long as it's your Kuan Di, I want to save it.
He wants Li Tian Zhen to only focus on design – her expertise. Li Tian Zhen’s heart might be stirred but she doesn't take his hand for a handshake. Before he leaves, he conspicuously drinks from her tea cup. Li Tian Zhen doesn't spare him a glance and when he leaves she calls him childish.
Lu Yi Ming visits Li Tian Zhen at work. It's midnight and she's alone in the office. He pats her head and her tears trickle down. Aw. It's too hard for her. I did laugh a bit when she whined that it was too boring. Lu Yi Ming secretly records Tian Zhen and sends the clip to Meng Yan. Meng Yan immediately drops everything to visit Tian Zhen. Then he overhears Tian Zhen wondering if her relationship with was ever real to begin with.
Meng Yan: If we don't count, then in this world there aren't any real couples.
Lu Yi Ming quickly escapes even with Li Tian Zhen hollering at him for betraying her. Meng Yan pulls Li Tian Zhen for a hug. He apologizes. He is really sorry. But it's not that easy. Yes, Li Tian Zhen, make him suffer!
Lu Yi Ming is back home. Qiao Ke appears aloof. When he’s all alone, our cutie breaks down. He mutters that Qiao Ke needs to be comforted, Mom needs to be comforted, Li Tian Zhen needs to be comforted, Meng Yan needs to be comforted, but who is there to comfort him? AW. At this moment, Lu Yi Ming receives a call from Li Tian Zhen. She’s scolding him for betraying her. AW.
Meng Yan heeds Li Tian Zhen of Lu Yi Ming’s woes. He's going through hardships of his own. Aw. Meng Yan knows! That’s when Tian Zhen learns Qiao Ke had liked Meng Yan, and Lu Yi Ming knew of that all along. That night, Li Tian Zhen quietly visits Lu Yi Ming's condo. He’s so tired, he fell asleep slumped on the couch. She puts him to sleep and covers him up. At least Lu Yi Ming has a caring sister. Qiao Ke finds Tian Zhen in the living room and coldly tells her to leave the keys. Li Tian Zhen understands. She also pleas Qiao Ke to be nice to Lu Yi Ming; he cares about her the most.
The next morning, Qiao Ke cleans Lu Yi Ming's ears. Lol. She's caring about his ears --> 耙耳朵.
I like how the Drama inserted these scenes to show that Meng Yan, Tian Zhen, and Qiao Ke all love Lu Yi Ming.
Stocks are also looking better for Kuan Di. Someone is helping them. Downstairs is Meng Yan. He has breakfast for Li Tian Zhen but he can't even enter the lobby because all the security guards have his photo. Haha. Secretary Wen helps him out and delivers the lunch. With one glance, she recognizes it's Meng Yan's and declines it. There's poison, she claims.
[Ep31] Since Meng Yan can't get into Kuan Di at all – the security guards are trained on detecting his voice too – he asks Secretary Wen to give a stuff ducky that talks to Li Tian Zhen. I can barely understand the duck. From inside the ducky, there's a note to let her know that he's the one who brought Han Sen to the hospital. He's trying to prove he ain't that bad.
Li Jun is in prison and he requests to see Meng Yan. Li Tian Zhen is there too and asks the lawyer why her father invited her to come when he doesn't even have any message for her. The lawyer explains that Li Jun only wanted Meng Yan to come but Meng Yan would only come if Li Tian Zhen was there. Lol. Meng Yan offers to tell her the details in exchange for a bowl of her noodles. I still remember Lu Yi Ming asking Meng Yan why he likes such nasty noodles. She ignores him and drives off. Meng Yan tailgates her the entire time such that she's so annoyed, she pulls over. Li Tian Zhen gets off her car to ask him what he wants. He wants her to come back to him just like what she did now. Heh. He continues to tempt her with her dad's information which is really important. Now it's Li Tian Zhen's turn to tail him. She's back at his home. The door is open for her. Meng Yan is serious about that bowl of noodle. He asks her to make it for him and he’ll tell her everything.
Meng Yan admires the bowl of (nasty) noodle before him. He reveals Li Jun told him that if he helped Tian Zhen save Kuan Di then Li Jun will not object their relationship. Li Tian Zhen isn’t impressed. She tells him this noodle is his last. My heart just dropped seeing Meng Yan's reaction. Boy, I like you, but you deserve this.
[Ep32] Meng Yan and Lu Yi Ming get into the most childish argument. Meng Yan wants him to check up on Li Tian Zhen but Lu Yi Ming needs to go home to cook for Qiao Ke. Aw. Meng Yan insists it won't take much time when she's right there but Lu Yi Ming says Qiao Ke is the one he loves the most. He has to cook for her first. Riled up, Meng Yan threatens Lu Yi Ming he'll ask Qiao Ke out. Lu Yi Ming returns the threat that he'll tattle to Tian Zhen. Lu Yi Ming wins this childish argument.
Their argument gets even funnier when Li Tian Zhen video-calls Lu Yi Ming. Meng Yan butts in to say he misses her noodles. Lu Yi Ming chides Meng Yan that the only ones who like her noodles are dogs and Meng Yan. She trained him well. LOL. Li Tian Zhen has seen enough of him and so Lu Yi Ming lies that Meng Yan has left the vicinity. Lu Yi Ming excessively adds that Meng Yan was super down when he left. Li Tian Zhen worries for Meng Yan (what if he falls on the construction site, etc.). She still cares.
Man, I was so tempted to transcribe everything these boys talked about. So childish together and so cute together.
Tian Zhen rejects Meng Yan's call. I never noticed her caller ID of him is two hearts (his nickname: Xiao Er = Little Two). She's upset at herself for thinking of a man who betrayed her. She then splashes paint at Meng Yan's portrait that she just drew.
After Lu Yi Ming grumps to Qiao Ke that she doesn't think of him as a man, that night she walks around the living room with just a towel around her. Then she picks up the fan right in front of the TV to dry her hair while excessively swinging her head.
Lu Yi Ming with a eye cover on: Please wear your clothes. What if that towel drops? I don't feel safe. LOL.
Qiao Ke is like that's fine, you're covering your eyes anyways – plops right beside him on the couch (his bed). Each time he moves away, she sits closer. Lu Yi Ming has had enough. He leaves home. Hahaha. Qiao Ke sighs to herself. If she doesn't think of him as man she wouldn't have bothered to seduce him just now.
Unprovoked, Meng Yan gets called “Trashy Man!” by Lu Yi Ming. He’s taking his (sexual) frustration on Meng Yan who's just lying on his own couch waiting for Tian Zhen's reply. While Lu Yi Ming is sulking to Meng Yan about Qiao Ke, the latter uses the former's phone to call Li Tian Zhen. Once she hears Meng Yan's voice, she hangs up in a split second. When Meng Yan hands back the phone to Lu Yi Ming, the password has been changed from Li Tian Zhen and Qiao Ke's birthday to Li Tian Zhen and Meng Yan's birthday. Heh. The reason: Meng Yan cannot memorize any other girl's birthday other than Tian Zhen and his mother.
Secretary Wen secretly steals the portrait Li Tian Zhen drew of Meng Yan. Although it's spoiled, Meng Yan's features are clearly visible. She exclaims that everyone near her is Meng Yan's spy. Secretary Wen is helping Meng Yan because he owes Meng Yan. Meng Yan gave up his projects and reputation to exchange for Guo Yuan Yuan's help to revive Kuan Di.
[Ep33] Li Tian Zhen learns of everything Meng Yan has sacrificed to help her. Secretary Wen has also done a lot of work behind the scenes. She offers to help but Secretary Wen assures her that as long as she continues to do what she's doing, that's helping. Li Tian Zhen smiles up at Secretary Wen that the person keeping the company running is actually him. Why is Secretary Wen so loyal? He needs to stay good. I cannot handle his betrayal this late in the game especially not when this guy smiles so warmly like that.
Meng Yan returns home to find Li Tian Zhen sleeping on his desk. It’s such a familiar scene, is it a dream? No, it isn't! It really is Li Tian Zhen. Meng Yan smiles at the sight of her. She wants him to step out of Kuan Di. She doesn't want him to sacrifice for her. When she leaves, he scrambles to chase after her. He embraces her, hoping she'd say just a bit longer, "Every corner in this home has memories of you". That doesn't move her. Ignore that tear rolling down her cheek.
Li Tian Zhen: I won't hate you but I also won't love you anymore. Her voice breaks when she mentioned "love".
Lu Yi Ming invites Qiao Ke out for dinner. It's a familiar place where she always hung out with Li Tian Zhen. Qiao Ke no longer considers her as family. Lu Yi Ming is so upset, he cries and asks her. "What about me?” Qiao Ke replies with the same question, "What about you?"
Lu Yi Ming: You and them are equally important to me.Qiao Ke: I don't need it. She wants to be more important than them.
Li Tian Zhen finally lets a smile slip when Secretary Wen brings up Meng Yan. He teases her. She's determined to be even more hostile in front of Meng Yan. Secretary Wen laughs that she better work harder on her facial expressions.
Meng Yan has decided to change his lock combo. He doesn't want it to be the day that reminds him of his revenge. He changed it to today's date and Tian Zhen's birthday. It's a new day, a new beginning!
Mom visits Qiao Ke. Qiao Ke finally speaks up that she's isolating herself from them to protect them. She cannot control her spiteful remarks. She doesn't want to hurt them. Mom isn't afraid of her anger or her hate. She'd rather Qiao Ke yell at her than ignore her. Mom has learned it the hard way that cutting off connections can end relationships. That's how Mom and Li Jun divorced – they stopped talking. Aw. It seems like Qiao Ke's wall is breaking a little.
[Ep34] Qiao Ke needs breathing space. She’s sad but Lu Yi Ming sticks to her like glue. In front of him, it’s like she can’t be sad but she is sad. Lu Yi Ming is frustrated too. He’s doing everything he can to be good to her because that’s how he was taught to love. Aw, I feel for both sides. When someone needs grieving space, you give them space. Not too long, though. Qiao Ke tells him off.
Lu Yi Ming drunk calls Meng Yan to reprimands him again. Lol, I know this scene is sad but when these guys talk, I just smile.
Lu Yi Ming: My wish was always love and peace but because of you rupturing my world, it’s either you breaking up with your love or Qiao Ke breaking up with family. Aren’t you all afraid of over-exerting yourselves in such high-level sport? Lol.
Meng Yan asks his “Uncle” where he is. Meng Yan will go him to let him yell all he wants. Aw. These two have the perfect balance of love and hate. The next morning Lu Yi Ming is naked on Meng Yan’s couch. LOL. Don’t think what you’re thinking because that’s not what happened. Lu Yi Ming puked everywhere and Meng Yan changed his pants but left his top half naked. Lu Yi Ming calls him a pervert. It was too much of a hassle for Meng Yan to put a shirt on him. The conversation shifts to Meng Yan asking Lu Yi Ming to live with him. Has their relationship progressed to cohabitation? xD. Meng Yan’s rationale: Lu Yi Ming living here will make Li Tian Zhen visit him.
[Ep35] Lu Yi Ming moves out. Qiao Ke pretends that everything is fine but she’s already missing him. Li Tian Zhen sends Lu Yi Ming to Meng Yan’s home. Every time she speaks to Lu Yi Ming, Meng Yan adds a line to remind her how much he loves her. Lol. I love the conversation and how they’re ignoring Meng Yan.
Before Li Tian Zhen leaves, Meng Yan somehow manages to switch their cars. He claims that he won’t allow Lu Yi Ming to drive his car so they have to switch cars. Meng Yan doesn’t have a logical reason for the switcharoo, it just feels fuzzy that he can drive her car and she can drive his car. Lu Yi Ming calls him a pervert. LOL. Once a pervert, always a pervert. Then Lu Yi Ming wants Meng Yan to cook for him. Meng Yan refuses; if he does, that’s abnormal. Lu Yi Ming immediately replies that he’ll leave. Meng Yan springs to his feet to make him a meal.
After the meal is ready, Lu Yi Ming has lost his appetite. He only wants to do one thing: hit Meng Yan. Lol. Meng Yan has another suggestion: why not dance? And so they dance! Lu Yi Ming is smiling again. And then Li Tian Zhen witnesses their embarrassing dance. Heh.
Meanwhile at Qiao Ke’s, she’s sleeping with Lu Yi Ming’s pillows. The separation is working.
It’s the day of Li Jun’s trial. Meng Yan wants Lu Yi Ming to check up on Li Tian Zhen but Lu Yi Ming wants to visit Qiao Ke. I guess Meng Yan won that argument because Lu Yi Ming visits Li Tian Zhen. Meng Yan is also there. Li Tian Zhen warns him to stop following her.
Meng Yan: I’m not following you, I'm pursuing you.
After they visit Li Tian Zhen, Lu Yi Ming reminds Meng Yan on their deal. Meng Yan is to check up on Qiao Ke. Qiao Ke is perceptive enough to know he’s visiting because of Lu Yi Ming. Meng Yan gives up the pretense and speaks to her properly. Qiao Ke had thought they were the same but in fact they’re very different. Meng Yan went through true loneliness. He watched her mother die. Then Tian Zhen entered his world. Even if she doesn’t do anything and just smiles, it brightens up his world. He had many chances to terminate his revenge but ended up hurting the person he loves the most.
[Ep36] Qiao Ke has too many memories of happiness. She’s different from Meng Yan who had none. It’s hard to forget such memories and live in loneliness. He knows she needs time. Meng Yan also tells Lu Yi Ming to give her space.
Mom visits Li Jun in prison. He realizes even if he’s in this lonely state, he has family but Meng Yan has no one. That makes his heart hurt for him. Aw, Li Jun, I’ll take your redemption!
Meng Yan casually asks Li Tian Zhen what she did with their engagement ring. "Threw it," she says, but she nervously stares at the small plant he’s playing with in his hand. Oh. She hid it there.
The cafeteria segment between Li Tian Zhen and Meng Yan made me smile. It’s just them talking about how a pair of chopsticks need to be together to be happy and splitting up and sitting together again. It’s a scene that in the grand scheme of things doesn’t matter but it’s these scenes that make this drama special. The magic of this drama is in the dialogues and the little interactions.
Qiao Ke is bombarded with present (a lot of flowers!!) but it’s not from Lu Yi Ming.
[Ep37] Li Tian Zhan leaves the meeting upset. Meng Yan picks up on her mood. He complains that she and that fake Wan Qing played piano while he, the real Wan Qing, never got to see her play. He just wants her to play piano to vent her stress. I’ve always wondered if the actress really knows how to play piano. Meng Yan asks her to play the very first piece he heard from her from that phone call. At that time he had liked her, not the love type, but he liked messing with her and teasing her. Because of her, he liked working, he didn’t mind having OTs.
Meng Yan does another right thing: get Li Tian Zhen to visit Qiao Ke. She’s celebrating her birthday alone with her laptop and instant food. Li Tian Zhen knocks on her door and she has a cupcake for Qiao Ke. Like a boss, she tells Qiao Ke to blow the candle on the mini cupcake. It’s in such a demanding tone, Qiao Ke obeys. Aw. Are we getting our besties back? All the presents that are clogging up the condo were from Li Tian Zhen. Li Tian Zhen smugly tells her, she’s never bought that many flowers for anyone before. Lol. Is Li Tian Zhen our hidden CEO ML in this drama?
Li Tian Zhen: Whenever you can’t stand your loneliness, you know where to find us. Qiao Ke, you remember this. We all love you.
Qiao Ke smiles. After Tian Zhen leaves, she plays the video message from Lu Yi Ming and Mom who are celebrating her birthday too. Qiao Ke cries and laughs. Qiao Ke is finally over being lonely.
Meng Yan wants to propose to Li Tian Zhen again. When he made sure Tian Zhen wasn’t paying attention, he stole the engagement ring from her plant.
[Ep38] If you think Meng Yan stealthily stole the ring, you're wrong. Li Tian Zhen knew he stole it and let him steal it.
Mom invites Qiao Ke out for something urgent. It's to tell her that Lu Yi Ming likes her. Qiao Ke is disappointed. She's this close to forgiving everyone but Mom is talking about romance. Meanwhile Lu Yi Ming, the person in question, is secretly at Qiao Ke's home preparing dinner for her. Qiao Ke is disappointed again (that Lu Yi Ming comes and goes in secret). Heaving a heavy sigh, Qiao Ke visits Lu Yi Ming with her professional kit to clean Lu Yi Ming's ears. 耙耳朵
Lu Yi Ming refuses to give up his ear (because he thinks she's mad) but with a finger wag from her, he obediently puts his head on her lap. By the way, Meng Yan is there the whole time, lol, Imagine a couple cleaning each other’s years in your living room. Lu Yi Ming eventually falls asleep. Qiao Ke asks Meng Yan for his home's passcode. She won't bother him, just Lu Yi Ming. Meng Yan refuses but she can ask Li Tian Zhen. Aw. Qiao Ke glares at him. Meng Yan offers another way to help.
The next morning Lu Yi Ming wakes up to find a note that says there's a surprise waiting for him. There's arrows guiding him around the house and right out the door. His present is his own belongings all packed up in a suitcase. LOL. He's kicked out. Not only that, the door closes and the note on the suitcase is "The passcode has been changed." Brilliant. Hahaha. There's an incredibly sly smile on Meng Yan's face when Lu Yi Ming calls him. His slyness doesn't stop there.
Meng Yan takes Li Tian Zhen on a date. Well, he doesn't say it that way. She immediately shows up to meet him. It’s a date to show her his inspirations for his design. He sneaks kisses to her cheek whenever she answers something right. It’s really just an excuse to kiss her. Then he tells her follow him to see more of his inspirations. She follows and he compliments her being obedient. Li Tian Zhen complains how every single line of his is a trap. Meng Yan corrects her: every line is love. LOL. The real purpose of this date is to reawaken her passion for architect.
Lu Yi Ming is homeless and asks Mom to take him in. He assumed Mom would take him in but she kicks him out after hearing his story about Qiao Ke and Meng Yan. You silly, go to Qiao Ke!. Thinking he had nowhere to go, he finally goes to Qiao Ke. By chance, she was opening the door and saw him there. She asks him where his keys are because he'll need it often. Awww
Meng Yan shares with Lu Yi Ming that he's mad at Li Tian Zhen. He wants her to be an architect not a CEO. He knows she wants that too but she's refusing him. Qiao Ke was listening behind the door. She’s heard enough. She takes her seat again and offers her two cent: Tian Zhen needs time. Meng Yan takes this advice to heart.
Meng Yan invites Mom (instead of meeting with Li Tian Zhen) to his home with the help of Lu Yi Ming. Mom is extremely strict with Meng Yan. Lu Yi Ming chirps in a line or two to neutralize the tension. At the topic of health, Lu Yi Ming quickly adds in that Meng Yan is super healthy and he can prove it, "I hit him before!" LOL. At least Lu Yi Ming is insightful enough to resigns himself to the washroom. From the visit, Mom realizes Meng Yan is dropping all his hate for Li Jun (which is justified) because of his love for Li Tian Zhen. Before she leaves, Meng Yan gives Mom a document to pass on to Li Tian Zhen. From that document, Mom approves of Meng Yan. It’s a proposal to Li Tian Zhen to be an architect again.
Secretary Wen offers Meng Yan a five year contract with Kuan Di. Meng Yan refuses. He has other plans. Meanwhile Mom hands the document to Tian Zhen.
[Ep40] Li Tian Zhen has her responsibilities to consider. She can't just leave Kuan Di to be an architect with Meng Yan – that is what she tells Meng Yan. But with her appearance in his home, Meng Yan is pretty certain Li Tian Zhen will work with him again. It's a matter of time. He's right. Li Tian Zhen discusses with Secretary Wen the future of Kuan Di. She believes Kuan Di is self-operating and it will be in the right hands – Secretary Wen's hands. Alas, there is a warm approving smile from Secretary Wen.
Qiao Ke invites Mom for hotpot. She asks mom if she can invite Tian Zhen for her. Mom: "Invite her yourself" :). She closes the door on her. Ha. Qiao Ke calls Lu Yi Ming and Secretary Wen for help but none accept her request. Without a choice, she calls Li Tian Zhen but quickly hangs up. Li Tian Zhen calls her back. Qiao Ke excitedly picks up but with her coolest voice, she tells her it was an accident. Li Tian Zhen yells at Qiao Ke from behind. Tian Zhen saw her make that call. She doesn't understand why they're not friends again after her birthday. Qiao Ke pouts that there wasn't anything formal to show that they made up. It's like Qiao Ke is the girl and Li Tian Zhen is the guy in this relationship. xD Li Tian Zhen pulls Qiao Ke in for a hug. Is that a formal enough make up for Qiao Ke? Yes. She even cries and apologizes for her immaturity and sensitivity. Li Tian Zhen comforts her that their friendship will only grow stronger. There was a cute little petty argument about the flowers between them.
At the hotpot, Li Tian Zhen announces she'll be leaving Kuan Di. Everyone's happy for her. After that, she makes her way to Meng Yan's parent's home. He has dinner ready for her too. On the table with his family photos there are two rings. One in the open and another in the box. She realizes the one she has been wearing all along was a sample. Ha. He explains the ring is real, the proposal is real, and her acceptance is real too. Nothing was fake. Then in her bowl of rice, he uses carrots to spell out LOVE. Not liking it, she switches their bowl. Meng Yan is fine with that too, "Received." She doesn't get it. He reiterates he received her love. There is a trap everywhere, lol. She asks him why he's making her dinner at this home. It's only natural of him to bring home a future family member. Of course, they have to have dinner here. She's still holding a grudge from last time. He smiles and promises to make up for it. They talk about her father and now that he's gotten his punishment, there's no reason for him to hate her father.
Meng Yan: You are the fortune in my misfortune. Let me take care of you. I will treat you better and cherish you more.
Li Tian Zhen gets up to wipe her tears. When she sits back down, she picks food for him. On her hand is the ring going bling bling. She put on the real one. AWWWWWWWWWWW. Meng Yan who's usually quick to speak is speechless. Tian Zhen tells him he's in charge of the cooking from now on. Meng Yan beams.
Qiao Ke types a letter to Lu Yi Ming detailing all her feelings during this period. Lu Yi Ming needs things clear as day, lol. She thought that if there was his companion, she didn't need love but now she knows that in his companion, there is love. She continues in her letter that she's always dwindling in her own world and if there's someone patient enough to read her (not just the letter) then that person must really love her. Lu Yi Ming finishes reading it. <3 He shows up at her door and wishes her good night. That's it. LOL. That's it? No. He left a note on her phone.
"Lu Yi Ming Reports. I read it all." He is the man who must really love her.
Back to Meng Yan and Li Tian Zhen, they're at his own home. He tells her he's going to put her name on everything of his including his parents' home. And thus, they spend the first night they made up not making out but working. It's only these two.
The next morning, we get a scene of Secretary Wen strutting in as the CEO of Kuan Di. Very deserving!
Meng Yan is still sleeping. Li Tian Zhen kisses his ear. Aw! This "ear" thing isn't a coincidence. Meng Yan wasn't sleeping. Do look at his unreserved smile.

Remarks
[First Impression (Ep1-6)] I can’t believe how fast I fell in love with the way the main leads bicker and banter. It’s so fun watching them being tongue and cheek with each other. Although Li Tian Zhen works under him, she’ll spew criticisms at him where it’s due and roll her eyes when necessary. Her sass is my favourite part to their relationship. Why these two bother with each other is because they connect on a higher level: their passion and their IQ for architectural design.
Warning! For those who have zero tolerance for Drama Men being selfish and mean for no good reason, this might not be for you. Meng Yan is a jerk. He’s a guy with high expectations and an unnecessarily foul mouth. However, he’s only business. As long as you don’t ruin his work progression, he seems fine, I think. He also doesn’t care about working his way up the corporate ladder; he trusts his own ability. Li Tian Zhen is similar to him. In their eyes, they only have architect. Let’s just say they’re both legitimately snobby. A perfect match.
I really really like the friendship between the three friends so Drama, please don’t destroy it for love. Okay?
Now before anyone goes into this with high expectations because of what you read above, please don’t. It’s a simple office drama with a lesser known cast. Personally, I have a preference for these under the radar dramas that have actors who can act, a decent story and a good dialogue. An ordinary story done right is perfectly my cup of tea. Unfortunately, there is one worrisome factor: the episode count.
[Chinese Title] What an awkward English title. It should be When Tian Zhen Met Love. Tian Zhen is the female lead’s name. “Zhen” should not have been translated into “Really” even if that is what it means.
Update: The Chinese title (当天真遇见爱情) can also be interpreted differently! The first way, as mentioned above, is "When Tian Zhen Met Love" if you read "Tian Zhen (天真)" as one entity. The other way is "That Day I Really Met Love" if you read "That Day (当天)" as one entity instead.
[Ending Update] The Chinese title gets smarter each time I read it. If I read it one way it’s about Tian Zhen meeting love. If I read it the other way it’s about “someone” meeting love that day. That someone is Meng Yan meeting the love of his life, Li Tian Zhen. It’s one title with two meanings and describes both our main leads.
[Actors/Actresses] At first I was uncomfortable with Wu Shi Le's acting. It’s a combination of being too rigid and overacting but as I continue to watch her, there’s just no other way I can see Li Tian Zhen now. I really like her.
[Behind the Scenes]
[OSTs] I finally know why the music in this drama has such a strong effect on me. It’s similar to the OST in I've Fallen For You (Wander by Di Zhi Wen). I blame this soundtrack for making me like this drama more.
I really like “Understand” by Liu Yi Xuan. It’s Qiao Ke's theme song.

Final Review
[Review] Such a fulfilling drama! What this does exceptionally well: dialogue, character development, and story development. It starts off as a regular office drama with a bickering couple full of hate and love. The jabs they take at each other are like strikes at high speed. That is already enough for me to stay invested but I hadn’t thought this drama would have so much fuel left in the latter half. The drama expanded, condensed, and solidified into a meaningful story of growth for our quartet. For an office-romance, this is one of those rare times a drama filled 40 episodes so equally and so effectively.
There is another genre to this office-romance but I think it’s better left unspoiled (~Ep8) to enjoy this drama to its fullest.
[Characters] The casting should be updated to four leads instead of two. Lu Yi Ming and Qiao Ke are way to vital to be listed as supporting roles. Anyways, here are the four actors who lived and breathed in their characters:
Wu Shi Le as Li Tian Zhen. Li Tian Zhen has spunk. If she hates she hates. If she loves she loves. She’s talented in architecture and has a burning passion for it. I love her cheekiness and her confidence. It’s my first time seeing this actress so I don’t know if her character is all acted or it’s her own mannerism. If it’s all acted, that’s ingenious because it’s such a fresh approach. If it’s her own mannerism, I like her.
Zhong Dan Ni as Qiao Ke. I really, really, really like Qiao Ke because she’s not an angel. I sympathize with Qiao Ke. She reminds me a little devil exists in me too. How can a regular person not be jealous with a sunny Li Tian Zhen around? She’s rich, smart, and beautiful yet modest. Her presence reminds Qiao Ke just how inferior she is and yet she loves this sun. It’s such a contradicting set of emotions that Qiao Ke can’t reconcile on her own that further spirals into more complication until her negativity consumes her. She did do one thing wrong and fortunately that helped our leads fall in love. That doesn’t right the wrong but I was proud of her when she was genuinely happy for our main CP. No matter how upset she was, she never voluntarily dumped it on Li Tian Zhen. She just needed to learn what she could potentially lose to realize what truly mattered to her.
Zhu Jia Qi as Lu Yi Ming. I love this guy! He has chemistry with everyone and, surprisingly, the most with Meng Yan, our male lead. I can watch the boys argue all day. It's impossible to not fall in love with this ball of charm. He’s packed with protein too. Allow me to promote him a bit – just a bit:
- He’s the sweetest boy in an unrequited love who asks for nothing in return.
- He’s a caring brother any girl would want.
- He’s also a brother a man never knew he needed.
- He’s incredibly cheap but rich with emotions.
- Last but not least, he has the perfect butt for dancing.
Wei Qian Xiang as Meng Yan. Meng Yan is a prick – but such a fun prick. He's impossible to satisfy unless you’re a Li Tian Zhen or a Lu Yi Ming. His character is profoundly flawed to the point that it can turn people off. He's manipulative and crafty but so witty. If Wei Qian Xiang wasn't this seasoned of an actor, I don't think I could love his dark character. [Spoiler (Ep8)] I started this drama not knowing this is a revenge story and I think it's better going in blind. It unfolds in an atypical fashion. Unlike Qiao Ke, Meng Yan grew up losing his loved ones. After he got his first taste of love he didn’t realize how precious that was and single-handedly destroyed it. Following the revenge, rest of the drama is his retribution: he needs to exhaust two-fold of his energy to win back her love and trust. [/Spoiler]
Random Recommendation: Get Married or Not also has witty dialogues.
