Mini Recaps

[Ep1]: Every single person is afraid of San Qi. Her name "San Qi" is literally "Three-Seven." She loves her coroner career but because of that no one wants to befriend her or be near her let alone be her husband. She grew up sleeping in a coffin, examining dead corpses, and she doesn't mind it one bit. She's waiting for her one true love who she met when she was young. The only way she can identify him is through his sketches. She leaves her little village in search of her lover in the city. She thinks it's Zhao Cuo and is determined to marry him. Meanwhile Zhao Cuo is a rascal. He'll punish people by hanging them on a kite and flying them up high in the sky. His father desperately wants him married that he doesn't care what the girl looks like or what her interest/career is. Hence San Qi is the perfect candidate for Zhao Cuo's wife. San Qi is literally Cai Min Min in Find Yourself but set in ancient times and has a love for corpses.

[Ep2]: Not only is the male lead's dad desperate to get his son married, but also the female's lead parents. And not only does San Qi have her one true love, so does he. She gets chosen to be the bride of this prince (he's not a prince, but close to one).
[Ep3]: But San Qi runs away. She meets another bride who's also running away from her own marriage. She agrees to take her identity to marry in her stead to Zhao Cuo. Omg This whole drama is filled with nonsense humour, so many weird characters. There's a princess who's playing a human-cat-imaginary-piano. I don't even know how to describe it. The prince is delighted to have his bride missing. Meanwhile Zhao Cuo is all tied up so he doesn't run away from his bride. The night of their wedding, he lies down in bed and tells her...
ZC: Come at me, you brute (and devour me)." Hahaha
SQ: -laughs- I just want to check if you have that thing -she looks down- (long story short: the original bride tells her there's something wrong with him, she meant his penis, SQ thought it was his legs)
ZC: -closes his eyes- Don't say it anymore. If other men have it, I have it too.
She doesn't want to devour him, she just wants to learn more about him. They spend that night fighting with each other and settle on being “friends” (except being makes her sleep on the floor and ties her up in the morning. I thiiiiink his first love is the princess, while her first love is the prince (who she's supposed to marry). I might really like the drama if they show how these two fall in love even if they're not the one they're looking for.
[Ep4] The next morning, while she's tied up, he escapes to the casino and ends up losing his father's heritage home. That night she becomes his partner in crime to set fire at this house, hoping to destroy the debt contract he signed. Rather than partner in crime, he technically manipulates her into thinking they're friends and sets her up as the arsonist. She's caught practically redhanded by Bai Yi Fei (who she saved before) and his men. Upon seeing her, BYF quickly protects her from his men. Confused, his men say the culprit is right there to which BYF looks around innocently, "where" LOL. Right behind you, as per the guard's words. His men finally learn to play along. He likes her.  Later that night, ZC is punished by his dad. Beats me why she feels bad for him for what he did to her. Alas because she stayed with him the entire night (and her cheery personality), he starts warming up to her.

Next morning, he wants to escape again but SQ is glued to his side. His subordinate thinks of a way to get rid of her: frame her for stealing. Wow. first arsonist, now a thief. She's saved by the same man: Bai Yi Fei (in a funny way, lol). Zhao Cuo gets jealous. This drama is hilarious. It's hit my funny bone. There's even rapping. I want to screenshot all of SQ's reactions, they're so funny

[Ep5] Zhao Cuo is accused of murder. Drama finally utilizes San Qi's forensic skills. She's got three days time to prove ZC's innocence as he's captured by BYF's father. (Sidenote: BYF and ZC are sons of judges of competing districts)

[Ep6] I thought I would be rude if I said that there's this girl who looks like a man in Ep5 but she's actually a man... Anyways SQ solves the serial murder case and saves her husband from being beheaded.

[Ep7] She's doing anything to make him happy: sets up a casino at home, learns to gamble for him, dresses up as a man so he has someone to gamble with. They drink too much and end up sleeping next to each other. Another night spent together, another night where his feelings for her grow (even if she has that mustache on). To thank her for saving him, he gives her one favour: she wants a date. But he doesn't show up until the next morning. She's been waiting for him all night until morning. Seeing how cheery she is to see him, he's touched and gives her a hug. She's winning him over even if he's been waiting for another girl. There's an immediate danger to their blooming love: his real bride shows up.

They accidentally kiss as she topples over him. She gets up but he pulls her back in for another kiss.

As if one obstacle isn't enough, there's another one: BYF was the one who made the sketch, not ZC.

[Ep8] Just when he's (in)directly accepting her to be his wife, she's asking him for a divorce. She's confused who her first love is. They get into a heated argument. I can't help but laugh at their bickering even though she is seriously upset. She leaves the mansion, but applies to be the coroner at his father-in-law's judicial office.
[Ep9] SQ is kidnapped. Zhao Cuo saves her like a hero. Why is he hiding his martial art skills? I love Yu Shu Xin. she's silly when she wants to be and emotional when she needs to be. He's also hiding the fact that he found out she's not his original bride all because he wants her to stay.

Alas begins the arc where he's trying to win her over.
Except a random girl (Xue Wei) randomly prances on him and he allows it. His first love?

[Ep10] Xue Wei (the first love who disappeared eight years ago and suddenly reappears like nothing has happened) is ruining everything and Zhao Cuo is doing nothing about it. Dad agrees to let SQ go on this dangerous mission; his ulterior motive is to make his son worried about her. It works.
[Ep11] New character: He Ruo Yao, the princess who's disguised herself as a male. She's most likely going to be the love interest for Bai Yi Fei. Can't wait. Zhao Cuo, San Qi, Ruo Yao, and Bai Yi Fei are on a mission together. Of the four, the one with the most courage is definitely SQ especially when there are corpses. All three of them hide behind her, lol.
It's cute how ZC lets SQ try her best to hide her identity when he already knows everything
[Ep12] A very cool entrance by Xue Wei who has come to save Zhao Cuo (who risked his life to save San Qi). With San Qi's brilliance, they solve the case but there's a bigger and darker force hovering. Evil forces aside, the secondary love line is picking up: He Ruo Yao moves into Bai Yi Fei's manor. However Xue Wei cements her role as the evil homeworker as she slaps SQ across the face telling her she won't share ZC. SQ tearfully bids farewell to the unconscious ZC

Season Two

[Ep1] SQ sets up a date for Bai Yi Fei and He Ruo Yao, but, uh, HRY is a man, at least in front of BYF. SQ reveals she's long figured HRY is a girl. Meanwhile HRY knows SQ is her missing sister-in-law. After their second "date" there's suddenly a musical in this drama as BYF starts to fall in love with (the male) HRY.
[Ep2] ZC finally tells his first love he doesn't love her anymore. He loves San Qi (I just realized Xue Wei disappeared eight years ago because she went to learn medicine for him...). One issue sort of solved but there's another looming issue: the real bride come to threaten SQ. Only it makes his love for her even stronger.
Bai Yi Fei finally knows HRY is a girl.
HRY's brother (the "prince") is SQ's first love.
[Ep3] SQ accused of murdering He Jin Xin (the real bride). Now it's her turn, eh.
[Ep4] Xue Wei is one of the masterminds. She captures ZC but this evil man wants ZC too, or more specifically, just his heart. They make a deal: Xue Wei will take ZC's heart (the whole if-I-can’t-have-his-body-I’ll-have-his-heart) and she'll give her heart to the evil man. XW uses her flute to summon zombies (hmmmmmm The Untamed?) and it even controls ZC to kill SQ. But ZC's love is too strong to fall under XW's spell.

[Ep5] Everyone's safe. Now the only problem is the prince (He Zhen), SQ's original groom. He's her lost first love. Now both men are desperately pursuing her. And she accepts He Zhen??
[Ep6] SQ is leaving to protect him and his family. She's doing what she thinks is right.
Meanwhile HRY is forced to marry someone else.
Now its BYF's turn to be accused. Everyone’s getting their turn at being accused.
[Ep7] ZC hand makes her an ugly birthday present but before he gives it to her, the prince prepares a grand firework show for her (and eight other presents to make up for the eight years he was absent). ZC realizes he’s no match for him and pushes her away to where he thinks she would be happier.
[Ep8] ‘Twas pretty cool when ZC hugged her from behind and told her to run away to protect her. The prince has a plan and it involves killing ZC. His jealous lady assassin adds SQ to the hit list.
[Ep9] Dad is suddenly so cool.
ZC is the real prince. What.
[Ep10] HRY’s brother isn’t her brother. Hm.
SQ’s first love is actually ZC.
ZC’s first love is actually SQ.
[Ep11] ZC in that clown outfit the entire time lol
SQ’s quite the angel. Thanking HZ was what he needed to hear.
[Ep12] ZC’s brain levels up since he’s regained his memory? Nope. The genius is still SQ.

Everyone’s getting married (again, willingly). It’s quite a modern wedding, lol. I looooove it when SQ and ZC are exchanging their vows, they keep mooching each other, ha. It’s these little interactions from their characters that makes this drama special to me.

Remarks

Names. Zhao Cuo’s name reminds me of a Chinese saying that means if it’s wrong, let it be wrong. His name is the centre point of this drama: wrong first love, wrong prince, wrong son, wrong brother, wrong groom, etc. Meanwhile San Qi’s name is literally two numbers combined, ridiculous. It sounds like “ 杀青” (Xia Qin) which means the end of a filming, which is what the whole cast shouts out at the last scene.

Overall Review: I like it. I had zero expectation going in and left with being quite impressed. The drama knows its identity: silly with heart. A few logical holes and convenient plot lines but the story keeps moving and each actor brings their character alive. Every character is fun to watch. They take their comedic role seriously, especially Yu Shu Xin (Tian San Qi); of notable mention is Chen Hao Lan (He Ruo Yao). Its funny in the most unexpected moment. Their dialogues have me smirking and snickering. It turns on the serious notch when it needs to. I can't say its a simple storyline, because its not, but its also not a complicated one that makes the story draggy. I'd recommend it as a short fluffy watch that's more on the comedic than romantic side. But if I like it, that means I think the romance was somewhat on point. I may also be more biased to this drama because I like Yu Shu Xin. Commendable, enjoyable.

P.S. Did I mention how much I like the ending song, "Wander" by Di Zhi Wen. They always play the beginning instrumental of it when something good happens and then my eyes stay glued to the scene and the corner of my lips turn upward.

Rating3/5
