[Ep1] We open to a fake marriage scene between Zhang Si Nian and Yun Shu. It’s fake but the wedding kiss she gives him is real. He’s her perfect professor who isn’t satisfied with anything less than perfection.
Yun Shu fails to get her degree because she was five minutes late for her last presentation. Her career also depends on her getting her degree. It was Zhang Si Nian who failed her. She calls him the world’s prickliest and pickiest professor. He challenges her statement. The claim can only be valid if she’s seen all the professors in this world. I think he just proved her point.
The only happy thing in her life right now is the new home she bought that her relative helped her nab. However, the condo belongs to Zhang Si Nian. He’s just coming out of his shower when he find her in his home.
Extra scene. A week ago, he was diagnosed with lymphoma. He has one year to live. How is this an extra scene?? After he learned of the diagnosis, he wanted to cry alone so he went to the earliest movie screening possible. He confirms and reconfirms with the employee that no one is in the theatre. He got the poor employee so annoyed with his questions.
[Ep2] Yun Shu was scammed by her cousin. Now she has no degree, no career, no home and no money. Zhang Si Nian takes her to the police station to report her cousin but Yun Shu chickens out. They got nothing out of this meeting but he promises if he's ever in contact with her cousin, he'll let her know. He also asks her a question: Is lying bad? He's never lied. He's contemplating on lying to his grandfather. Yun Shu tells him there are lies that come with good intentions.
[Ep3] Yun Shu can't accept being Zhang Si Nian's girlfriend even if it's a lie. However, when she sees who the grandfather is and recalls their conversation about how he wishes his grandson could have a girlfriend (a family to rely on), she quickly helps Zhang Si Nian lie. The grandfather is smiling as he enters his operation room for the high risk surgery. The lie was all worth it. Grandfather's surgery is successful. To thank her, Zhang Si Nian lets her live in his place for a month.
[Ep4] Yun Shu is scammed again by a fake lawyer. She wanted to hire a lawyer to find her cousin to get her money back. Zhang Si Nian quietly handles it for her. Simultaneously, Zhang Si Nian sits his grandfather through a logical lecture of how Yun Shu and him are incompatible given her history of being scammed. Grandfather sees no logic in that. He thinks his grandson needs some spice in his life and Yun Shu is the perfect ingredient for that.

He’s crying alone in the theatre but he’s actually not alone. Yun Shu was there. She slept the night there. She was partying with her friends last night for her friend's birthday. She lost a shoe. It’s with Zhang Si Nian. She goes to retrieve it but he stopped her and throws it to her instead. He doesn’t want her to see him crying?

Yun Shu has nowhere to live. No where. Thus, she finds her nurse friend who offers her a hospital dormitory to sleep in (they're for medical staff). Yun Shu meets a grandfather who is under a bench retrieving his lost cigarette. She manages to convince this grandfather to stop smoking for his health. This grandpa is Zhang Si Nian's grandfather. It is him who has the lymphoma (not Zhang Si Nian). To make him happy, Zhang Si Nian lies that he has a girlfriend. His first ever lie. He then asks a random nurse to help complete his lie. He even offers to pay her. The nurse thinks he's a jerk. Zhang Si Nian spots Yun Shu walking about in the hospital wing. He immediately walks up to her. He doesn't even give her time to accept his request. He tells her to be his girlfriend and off he takes her running to see his grandfather. So I had misunderstood it was Zhang Si Nian with the lymphoma. I’m too lazy to go back and double check whether the drama had intentionally made me misunderstand or I overlooked it.
Yun Shu feels bad for living in Zhang Si Nian's place for free so she offers to clean and cook. But Zhang Si Nian is better off cooking it himself. She's creating a mess everywhere and it's him who cooks for her instead.
Yun Shu and Zhang Si Nian visit grandpa (separately but they meet in the room). Grandpa is awake and now has a request for his grandson: he wants him married. Zhang Si Nian refuses. Grandpa's blood pressure sky-rockets. Yun Shu quickly runs back into the room and agrees on anything grandpa wants not knowing he wanted marriage.
Grandfather to Zhang Si Nian: You have to use a perfect vision to look at an imperfect person. It took me a while to process this line. For those who are confused as I was, grandfather meant to look at an imperfect person perfectly. Don't see their imperfections, see their perfections.
Grocery shopping is an excruciatingly long task for Zhang Si Nian. He always has to choose the best one of all the brands but with Yun Shu there, she quickly uses her common senses to help him choose. His grocery shopping efficiency improved at least 150%. He is grateful for that. As they’re waiting in line to pay, a grandma in front of them forgot her wallet. She asks Yun Shu to borrow some money and she does. Grandma promises to come back to return the money. Zhang Si Nian is dubious. However, Yun Shu was right to believe in grandma. She really does return with the money. Zhang Si Nian is surprised, pleasantly surprised. He admires her tenacity to believe in the goodness of people. Thus, he returns the money from the lawyer but he lies that it was the lawyer who gave it to her. He wants her to continue being innocent. Perhaps it is that innocence of hers that won him over because he asks her to marry him.
[Ep5] Zhang Si Nian logically analyzes how marriage will benefit both of them. He also offers his condo after a year of marriage. However, Yun Shu refuses. She hasn't even dated and now she has to marry him for a condo to live in.
The next day, she's moving. She found a cheap place to rent. Coincidentally, Zhang Si Nian had also just bought a bed for her. He assures her he can return it. He walks her down the condo to send her off. She tells him they'll meet next year when she graduates. He reminds her that his offer about their marriage will still be valid for a month. She nods and leaves. Within a minute, she's frantically running back. Surprised, he asks her, "Is it a year already?" LOL. It has not been a year. It's Yun Shu's sister, Yun Lan. She's here to check out Yun Shu's new home. It's Yun Shu's turn to need a boyfriend and a condo ASAP. She hooks onto Zhang Si Nian's arm and says he's her boyfriend. Zhang Si Nian pauses for a beat, but smoothly agrees, he is her boyfriend. Now this is fun.
Yun Lan has some questioning to do about their relationship. Zhang Si Nian and Yun Shu answer everything as truthfully as they can (things like who pursued who, where they met, etc) just with a bit of romantic spin on it. Miraculously, they end up giving the same answers when Yun Lan interrogated them separately. Zhang Si Nian sure lies well a guy who never lied before.
When night comes, Yun Shu is forced to sleep in the same room as Zhang Si Nian to keep up the lie. He happens to be changing. Still, she has to sleep in his room. But he only has one blanket. Thus, he drapes it over the bed so that she gets half of it on the floor. However, before she can sleep she realizes she threw her luggage away after her sister caught her moving. She runs back to find her luggage hoping to find her stuff bunny (Wu Qian = 5000) but she can't find it. Yun Shu is having difficulty sleeping without it so Zhang Si Nian stays up to talk with her. He analyzes her thesis paper (that day that he failed her) and that's the perfect sleeping pill she needs.
Yun Lan lectures Yun Shu about not graduating. She calls her an idiot. Zhang Si Nian disagrees. Her thesis paper proves she's anything but dumb. He's completely on her side and that touches Yun Shu. Yun Lan is worried about her in the coming year. Zhang Si Nian assures her that this whole year he’ll take care of Yun Shu and makes sure she graduates. Yun Lan has no other complaints.
Zhang Si Nian is at the garbage collection center to help Yun Shu find Wu Qian. When Yun Shu finds him, his clothes are all dirty. They couldn’t find it. She appreciate his effort. On their way home, they see a little girl carrying Wu Qian. After a lot of convincing, Zhang Si Nian finally retrieves her bunny back. He finds out that the bunny has a voice message from her father: "Yun Shu, Smile". It's the last words her father left for her.
Zhang Si Nian realizes he was too brash with his marriage contract. He apologizes for not considering her feelings. She asks him why he's so nice to her.
Zhang Si Nian pats her head: Because you're worth it.
Yun Shu's heart skips a beat. She accepts his contract. She'll marry him.
Extra Scene. After Zhang Si Nian finished analyzing her thesis that put Yun Shu to sleep, he went next to her to put her back into a sleeping position (from a seated one). Her face drops to the side and he quickly catches her face in his hand. Did he also carry her onto the bed? Because that's where she woke up from in the morning.
[Ep6] Zhang Si Nian goes over the contract with Yun Shu. She wants to quickly go over it but he wants to examine every stipulation, especially the one about skinship. She really wanted to skip over that one but he says this is one of the more important points. They agree on one thing: no wedding ceremony. However, grandpa isn't happy about that. For grandpa's sake, they go on with the ceremony. Yun Shu looks over the ceremony details and she's tempted by a marriage by the ocean. That's her dream wedding. However, she decides to go with a simpler venue since it is a fake marriage anyways.
They prohibited skinship in their contract but this episode, they have all these tiny touches that make them both awkward. He noticed that she didn't drink milk today. That's because she forgot to buy milk and only had enough for one cup. Thus, he pours over half of his milk to her. When he hands back the glass to her, she flinches at their touch and almost spills the milk.
Zhang Si Nian teaches Yun Shu how to avoid kissing each other during the wedding ceremony. He tells her about angles and perspectives. She doesn't get it. I don't think anyone does. Thus, they rehearse this, beginning from the aisle walk. He makes his wedding vow to her. She's in love. They then pretend to slip on imaginary rings for each other. That made her heart flutter. Finally they practice the fake kiss. The mood was perfectly romantic until a phone call interrupts them. I didn't know a rehearsal for a fake marriage could be this romantic.
Yun Lan finds out about everything from the cousin scamming her to the contract marriage.
By the way, Yun Shu has all these weird hotdog clips on her hair this episode.
Second Couple: Yun Lan and Lu Yu. They will be the bridesmaid and bestman. Lu Yu is a director. Yun Lan recognizes him for different reasons. They had a one night stand together.
Extra Scene. Zhang Si Nian waits for Yun Shu to visit grandpa. She's dressed up for the occasion because they're telling Grandpa they're getting married. Zhang Si Nian seems to really like her new look. He reaches his hand towards her to fix her hair carefully. She flinches a little.
Zhang Si Nian: This time I didn't break our rules about touching each other.

Second Couple (Extra Scene): Lu Yu is even more interested in Yun Lan
[Ep8] Yun Shu is dead asleep in the car on her way back home. Zhang Si Nian reaches over to buckle her seat belt and their proximity reminds him of their kiss. When they're home, they sit awkwardly on the couch not knowing what to do on the night of their wedding. I really like the room in the screenshot above. The painting at the back, the heights of the lamps, the colour of the cushions.
Zhang Si Nian wants to repay Yun Shu for the kiss from earlier. She's on the bed and asks him how. First, he tells her to relax. Zhang Si Nian reaches over her and... takes a pillow. He gives it to her to put it between her waist, that way, it'll be more comfortable. Yun Shu gulps. She's not ready. He replies that if she doesn't do it she'll never be ready. Gulps. Zhang Si Nian is repaying her by giving her a mock exam. If she doesn't do it, she'll never be able to graduate. This guy...
It's morning and Zhang Si Nian text her the new lock combo. It's 20190720. It's their wedding date. This way, Yun Shu won't have any problems memorizing it.
Zhang Si Nian takes Yun Shu shopping. Since she is his wife in front of his relatives, he needs to "improve" her. Yun Shu thought he was bringing her clothing shopping. But this guy is Zhang Si Nian. He brings her to a book store. To improve her brains? Now that's really insulting. They're in the bookstore so there's a mandatory girl-not-tall-enough-so-guy-reaches-over-and-then-they're-too-close-scene.
Yun Shu's stomach grumbles and Zhang Si Nian takes her to lunch. She wanted fried chicken but they're in a classy restaurant that doesn't serve that. Zhang Si Nian corners the waiter that if they have the ingredients they can definitely make fried chicken. A waitress helps them get the fried chicken order but she's later reprimanded by her manager. Yun Shu stands up for her. She gets lectured by the manager too. That's when Zhang Si Nian stands up for his wife. He tells the manager that customers are always number one. I don't agree with this. Plus, there's a Michelin evaluator in the restaurant; customer service is a huge factor in their rating system. And so our newly wed get their way and the waitress isn't reprimanded anymore. By the way, Zhang Si Nian lied about the Michelin grader. He's a habitual liar now.
Yun Shu is collecting Zhang Si Nian's laundry. She puts his clean clothes to her face and inhales his scent. Zhang Si Nian sees this (not really). He just tells her he has something to tell her after he showers. With wet hair, he reviews her mock exam papers with her. He's looking down at her and she's looking up at him. Then, he gives her a kiss. A kiss? They kiss?
[Ep9] The kiss was all Yun Shu's imagination while she was staring at his wet hair.
The next morning Zhang Si Nian takes Yun Shu to listen in on his class. She enters the classroom first. Wanting to sit as close as possible, she asks a student if she can sit next to her but the student puts her bag there. Zhang Si Nian hears this. He was about to start class but it's really bothering him. He confronts the student in front of the entire class and calls Yun Shu over to sit in the front. I like this, hehe.
After class, Zhang Si Nian takes Yun Shu for lunch. It's a healthy lunch to replenish her brain. He gives her a lot of spinach. She really doesn't like it. She argues back with him that she thinks she has enough brain cells. Zhang Si Nian tells her to repeat the class's main points then. Yun Shu gobbles up the spinach. She was admiring him the entire class. She heard nothing he said. He then insists she eat the fish. Yun Shu, mouth still full of spinach, looks so pitiful and tells Zhang Si Nian she thinks her brain stopped developing already. LOL. Zhang Si Nian won't take that excuse and so Yun Shu eats and eats with the most miserable expression. Haha. There's rice on her cheeks but she doesn't get the hint so Zhang Si Nian uses his chopsticks to pick it for her. Yun Shu thought he was feeding her rice so she eats it from his chopsticks. Zhang Si Nian freezes. His eyes widen. He's absolutely astonished. Yun Shu becomes very embarrassed. I really like this.
Zhang Si Nian's lecture: "I don't think we chose math. I think math chose us." This is his love for math.
A fellow teacher of Zhang Si Nian's is going through with a divorce. Her mother is making a fuss in the office. This female teacher continues to give furtive gazes to Zhang Si Nian, she definitely likes him. After this incident, Zhang Si Nian realizes how much a divorce could affect Yun Shu. When he's home he tells her they should avoid being together publicly as much as possible.
Yun Shu accidentally bumps into the female teacher and drops her wedding photos with Zhang Si Nian. That teacher knows now. Zhang Si Nian is upset. Yun Shu thinks he's mad at her. Why is he afraid to let their relationship be known? Does he look down on her? Even though it's a fake marriage, is she not worthy of being his partner? Those are the questions she ask him. Firstly, he's not afraid. He wants as little people to know as possible because he doesn't want to affect her life after their divorce. He assures her he'll add a new stipulation in their contract: if her future husband or boyfriend misunderstands their relationship, he would gladly explain. This hurts Yun Shu even more. He never treated their relationship beyond a contractural one.
Extra Scene. Yun Shu lines up in the cafeteria but she's butt in line. The rude students ignore her complaints. It's Zhang Si Nian who comes to rescue her again. But he's also there to take her away for his healthy lunch.
[Ep10] Yun Shu runs away from home. Zhang Si Nian is so used to having her around that after he showers, he calls her to let her know it's her turn. But she's not there. The pyjamas in his wardrobe she bought for him also reminds him of her.
It's the weekend. Yun Shu and Zhang Si Nian have an agreement to visit grandpa on the weekends. Yun Shu almost forgot. Zhang Si Nian thought she wasn't going to come (since she ran away from home) but smiles when she does. The music, the smile. I like.
Yun Shu is almost discovered by her sister that she's working at a supermarket selling beers. As she dodges from her sister, she bumps into Zhang Si Nian. He helps her hide her uniform by giving her his suit jacket. They manage to get through Yun Lan but since Yun Shu left her work premise, she's lectured by the manager who wants to fire her. Who comes to her rescue? Of course it's Zhang Si Nian.
Zhang Si Nian waits until Yun Shu is off work. She doesn't see him though. When he sees her walk home alone, he trails her without her knowing. There's a smile on his face. It's love. The next day, Zhang Si Nian shares his feelings with Lu Yu. Having Yun Shu gone from his home, he's not exactly happy. There's even a slight taste of reminiscence. It's loveeee.
Lin Nuo (the doctor resident friend) asks Yun Shu why she's so determined to leave Zhang Si Nian's home this time. Usually she's wishy-washy. It's the first time he has seen her so resolute. Zhang Si Nian doesn't want to bother him if he doesn't like her.
Zhang Si Nian texts Yun Shu at night to ask her if they can communicate before visiting Grandpa just so he's not caught lying to Grandpa. She agrees and promises to tell him everything she talks to grandpa about. Zhang Si Nian adds that if she ever needs him, she can contact him.
At the supermarket, a man helps Yun Shu fend off a pervert. He's Meng Ran. This man even orders a batch of beer and designates Yun Shu to personally deliver them to his law firm. He's trying to hire her as his secretary. Yun Shu accepts the job offer. She calls Zhang Si Nian immediately. He's the first person she told her job about. She's a little disappointed when he doesn't sound elated at all. That's because it was Zhang Si Nian who pulled the strings. Meng Ran is his friend. He also tells Meng Ran about the contract marriage.
Extra Scene. Zhang Si Nian was accompanying Yun Shu while she was selling beer at the supermarket. His grumpy expression scared off all her customers. He sighs and leaves. He soon returns with a cart. He's packing her beer and transporting them to another location. He places the beer beside the diapers. It's logical move. The sales quickly inclement because mothers would buy diapers and pick up beers for their husband; fathers would buy diapers and also pick up beers for themselves. I guess this is the same day Zhang Si Nian waited for her to get off work and walked her home without her knowing.
[Ep11] Grandpa, our little cupid, makes Yun Shu and Zhang Si Nian clean his home in anticipation of his discharge. Zhang Si Nian didn't know she was going to be there so when he finds her in his home dancing, he's pleasantly surprised. They clean the home together. He smiles whenever he peeks at her. Yun Shu uses a ladder to dust the bookshelf. She almost knocks down a ceramic piece. Zhang Si Nian catches it for her. He lifts her down and tells her to leave the tall places for him. If he's so tender now, I can't wait when he's in love with her.
Yun Shu finds Zhang Si Nian's old pictures and also a fairytale book "The Girl in the Ocean." Zhang Si Nian isn't happy with her flipping through that book. His tone on her is harsh. However, minutes later, he's calling her back into the room. There's a lizard on the wall and he can't even look at it. She takes care of it for him and assures him its gone. However, when he turns to face her, she has it right before his eyes. Zhang Si Nian almost faints over from the sight of it. Pft.
The days since Yun Shu has been away from him, Zhang Si Nian has developed a habit of looking at his phone. He's waiting for Yun Shu's texts and happily stares at them whenever they arrive. Teacher Shen (the female teacher) notes that he's changed. He's happier. Zhang Si Nian also tells her about the contract marriage and asks her to keep it a secret. Teacher Shen advises him to be clear about his intentions in their relationship. Zhang Si Nian takes her advice.
Grandpa is discharged. Zhang Si Nian and Yun Shu take him back to his home. They're preparing food for him. Yun Shu constant touches at her hair bothers Zhang Si Nian so he ties her hair for her ever so sweetly. While he's doing that, he tells her he's keeping his distance because he doesn't want her to be at any disadvantage after their divorce. Grandpa interrupts this conversation to Zhang Si Nian is a little disappointed and then relieved when she changes her mind to agree on staying the night.
Grandpa tells Yun Shu about the fairytale book. It's Zhang Si Nian's favourite story and also the one that hurts him the most. His mother died when he was four. Grandpa couldn't tell such a young him about the truth so he lied that his mother is a mermaid. She'll return from the ocean once he becomes an adult. But that lie is soon exposed as he grows older. Grandpa also tells Yun Shu that he liked her because he's confident she can bring Zhang Si Nian happiness; she's that bright of a girl.
Yun Shu sleeps in his room and sleep in his clothes. She comforts him about the fairytale. Although it was a lie, the feelings he felt from the book is real. Zhang Si Nian is accepting of her words. He tells her that in private they don't have to keep their distance. If she doesn't mind it then he doesn't mind publicizing their marriage.
The next morning, Yun Shu takes Zhang Si Nian by the ocean. She tells him to arrive fifteen minutes later so she has time to put on a tail. She's dressing up as mermaid. She tells him the mermaid never forgot her promise to him. She's back to see him. He calls her silly but he likes it. Yun Shu insists her version of the mermaid fairytale her father told her is the real one: the mermaid becomes human and marries the prince.
Extra Scene. On the car ride home, Zhang Si Nian tells her that when he's unhappy, he'd watch happy movies. He asks her if she watched Modern Times (a 1936 Romcom). She doesn't remember seeing it. He then reminds her what she did on May 20 (her friend's birthday was May 19). She bought the wrong ticket and slept over in the movie theatre. He tells her that person watching the movie in the morning was him. Yun Shu remembers now and claims he woke her up with his sobing. He insists it was the movie. Yun Shu reminds him the movie was a romcom.
[Ep12] Yun Shu gives Zhang Si Nian a present. It's a picture she drew of a mermaid with a boy in her arms. I think he likes the present because he then asks her to move back in with him. A little surprised and a very happy Yun Shu nods. She asks her friend Gao Zhi Yi should she move back. Gao Zhi Yi looks at her packed suitcase. The answer is already obvious. Yun Shu is ready to move back in with him. However, she's afraid of being in love with him again. Has she ever been out of love?
Zhang Si Nian is at home framing the mermaid picture Yun Shu drew for him. He's also clumsily changing the curtains in her room when Yun Shu finds him. The curtains are the same colour as his sweater which she compliments looks nice. Zhang Si Nian can't handle this type of flirting, Yun Shu. The curtains are darker in shade so she can sleep her afternoon naps. She also notes the new bedding and wardrobe. He's making her feel like home.
Yun Shu is surprised to find Zhang Si Nian watching romcoms. Lu Yu forced him to watch it to analyze his acting. By the way, they're watching Crocodile and Plover Bird. There's a hug in that drama and the atmosphere between them turns a little awkward. Zhang Si Nian tries to predict the next line, "You like me, don't you?" Yun Shu thought he saw through her so she quickly denies it. Then Zhang Si Nian asks her what are the chances of them misunderstanding they have love between them because Lu Yu told him fake relationships sometimes turn real. Yun Shu quickly turns off the TV. She doesn't think Zhang Si Nian matches these brainless idol romance dramas. When she leaves, Zhang Si Nian turns on the TV again.
Yun Shu is hard at work. She brings a ton of documents home because she wants to improve herself. She's so busy, she ignores Zhang Si Nian during dinner. While she's in his room studying up law stuff, he pops into her room asking her if she has thought of wanting to use the washroom. That's a very weird question to ask and Zhang Si Nian spends forever trying to make it sound logical. After he showers, he purposely wears the couple pyjamas she bought for him to grab her attention. He's disappointed when she doesn't notice it. However, when she does notice it, the attention is short lived.
Zhang Si Nian is back in Yun Shu's room. Yun Shu is asleep this time. He puts her to bed. His arm is caught under her. In her sleep, she tells him "I will work hard." Zhang Si Nian smiles. But his smile falters when she ends off her sleep talk with "Lawyer Meng."
The next day, Zhang Si Nian files a formal complaint to Meng Ran for overworking Yun Shu. It's ruining the stability of their life. Yun Shu knocks on the door at this moment and Zhang Si Nian scrambles to hide under Meng Ran's desk. She's here for a small matter but when she was about to leave, Meng Ran calls her back. He asks her if he's giving her too much work and if it's taking up her personal life. Yun Shu denies everything. Work is her life. She's refuting everything Zhang Si Nian had claimed.
As a result of the complaint, Meng Ran does give Yun Shu an off day. She's busy cleaning the house. Zhang Si Nian offers to hire a maid so she can rest. She thinks doing these small things bring happiness too. He doesn't get it. Thus, they go grocery shopping together. There's multiple promotions going on so Yun Shu asks Zhang Si Nian to calculate the most cost-effective way to use the promotions. As he's seriously calculating, a bunch of ladies are waiting for his conclusion. A little stunned at the audience, he tells the ladies the most logical way to tackle the promotions. The ladies thank him and compliment his girlfriend. Zhang Si Nian clarifies that Yun Shu isn't his girlfriend, "We're married." After helping the ladies, Zhang Si Nian thanks Yun Shu for showing him the happiness in the little nuances of life.
[Ep13] Yun Shu and Meng Ran are fans of the same manhua artist. He doesn’t like the main character though (Tang Shen Jun), he’s too cold and unapproachable, especially if he existed in real life. Yun Shu mumbles she knows a Tang Shen Jun in real life. She means Zhang Si Nian. Meng Ran knows who she means too. He asks what her relationship is with this real Tang Shen Jun. A reserved Yun Shu replies they’re just friends. That’s when Zhang Si Nian calls Meng Ran and Yun Shu sees the caller ID. The secret is out. But Yun Shu is okay with it. She’s grateful for this job and doesn't want to disappoint Zhang Si Nian.
Zhang Si Nian called because he was worried for Yun Shu. She's working OT and the temperature is supposed to drop tonight. Yun Shu and Meng Ran are off work (I don’t know what work they did other than talk about their favourite manhua and Zhang Si Nian). It’s cold, so being a gentleman, Meng Ran drapes his suit jacket over her shoulders. That’s when the music drops and a handsome Zhang Si Nian arrives with a jacket. He puts his hand over Yun Shu's shoulder and takes off Meng Ran’s suit to put his on her instead. When Meng Ran puts his suit back on himself, the eagle-eyed Zhang Si Nian spots a strand of Yun Shu's hair on the suit. Zhang Si Nian can’t let anything of his on another man. He takes the hair and wraps it around his finger, “My things should be kept well.” Swoon ~ Zhang Si Nian, take my heart.
A grumpy Zhang Si Nian is forced to join dinner because he can’t let Yun Shu have dinner alone with Meng Ran. Yun Shu and Meng Ran have another thing in common: they both love Luosi Noodle (smelly but sweet and sour river snail noodle). Them talking without him makes Zhang Si Nian even grumpier. He gets a tiny win when he haughtily tells Meng Ran that he and Yun Shu can share a bowl while Meng Ran can have one all by himself.

Yun Shu burns her ankle because of an angry client at work. A worried Zhang Si Nian visits, he immediately kneels down to check her injuries at eye level. Meng Ran bought her fried chicken, her favourite food. He even feeds her. Right in front of Zhang Si Nian. Zhang Si Nian won’t allow that. He holds down Meng Ran’s wrist. The fried chicken is right in front of Yun Shu’s face. Not only can she not eat it, it keeps hitting her face. Then the nurse comes in with the wheelchair asking for her family member. Meng Ran answers first, “I am!” He pauses. “...her boss.” Zhang Si Nian calmly stares him down, “I am her husband.”
At home, Zhang Si Nian tenderly wraps Yun Shu's ankle with Saran Wrap. She wants to shower. He’s worried about her though. He’s right to worry. She slips in the bathroom. He dashes to the door. Yun Shu insists she can get up on her own. But after the second yelp, Zhang Si Nian cannot stand idly outside anymore. He tells her he’s entering. Yun Shu has a gown on by the way. Still, she’s nervous of him seeing her. To her surprise, Zhang Si Nian has his eyes closed. Under her directions, he finds her and carries her in his arm.
Third Couple: Lin Nuo asks Gao Zhi Yi what’s the purpose of girls putting on foundation to make the redness disappear and then add blush or making the eyebrows disappear only to draw them on again. LOL. Well, if it’s worded that way... He follows her to a hotel. He’s worried her boyfriend is going to take advantage of her but it’s her who wants to be taken advantage of.
[Ep14] Zhang Si Nian carries Yun Shu back to her room. When he leaves her room, Yun Shu calls him back. She asks him if he’s sure he hasn’t left anything behind. Zhang Si Nian forgot his slipper. He was that disheveled he didn’t even know he was walking with one foot slipper-less.
Zhang Si Nian finds out Meng Ran bought Yun Shu an insurance (in case there’s another accident). It bothers Zhang Si Nian enough that he calls Meng Ran to confirm whether this insurance is an employee benefit or a Yun Shu benefit. Meng Ran lies that it’s an employee benefit. Now Meng Ran has to buy insurance for all his employees. Zhang Si Nian also burns his steak.
Yun Shu is chatting with her sister. She thinks Zhang Si Nian likes her but she's not certain. She also talks to Gao Zhi Yi who confirms Zhang Si Nian does like her. However, Yun Shu doesn’t want to get her hopes too high.
Meng Ran wins the case for the client who was previously angry. Yun Shu has a lot of credit (but it was Zhang Si Nian who helped her) so Meng Ran organizes a celebratory dinner for her. His employees are surprised their firm has such celebrations. Zhang Si Nian insists to accompany Yun Shu. Awkwardly, Yun Shu introduces Zhang Si Nian to her coworkers as her cousin.
The “cousin” and the boss aren’t too happy with each other. There’s a passive-aggressive fight between them for Yun Shu over dinner. The men have a talk outside. The fight is no longer passive. Meng Ran is demanding for a fair completion with Zhang Si Nian for Yun Shu. He loves her. Her cuteness is like no other. She makes people want to care for her. Angrily, Zhang Si Nian grabs his collar. Their faces are inches apart. Anyone would think they’re about to kiss. Yun Shu is one of them, asking what they’re doing. Girl, they’re fighting for you.
It's Yun Shu’s birthday soon. At night, Zhang Si Nian is tutoring Yun Shu. Yun Shu asks him what he’s doing the next day. She then starts humming “Happy Birthday”. He knows it's her birthday. He even asked Lu Yu for advice on how to celebrate it but in front of Yun Shu, he tells her to focus on his lesson. Before he leaves her room though, he says he’ll be home early for her birthday.
The next morning, Zhang Si Nian is waiting in his car. Who is he waiting for? Yun Shu. She’s running late. He calls her back to offer her a ride to work. She’s certain he’s going to be late if he drops her off though. Zhang Si Nian very not convincingly says he won’t be if they leave now. Yun Shu still looks worried.
[Ep15] Zhang Si Nian calculated his time perfectly to drive Yun Shu but he didn’t include a possible traffic jam. Yun Shu is running late and decides to get off. However, Zhang Si Nian quickly locks the car. Meng Ran is outside, ha. He’s riding a motorcycle and can easily dodge traffic. He’s offering Yun Shu a ride. Without a choice, Zhang Si Nian lets her off the car. But he has another plan. He accelerates his car a bit to bump the car in front. As his lawyer, Meng Ran has to stay on the scene to help him handle the accident – the small, small accident. Meanwhile, Zhang Si Nian drives his motorcycle to give Yun Shu a lift. He purposely pulls Yun Shu’s arm around his waist in front of Meng Ran. He's proudly showing off his W. Meng Ran gets a tiny win when he drives his car up and close to Zhang Si Nian, making his knees buckle. Lol. That scene looked scary to film.
Yun Shu is home late. Zhang Si Nian is anxious. He’s especially tense when he discovers she was with Meng Ran. Meng Ran is helping her locate her cousin. The next day, Zhang Si Nian informs Meng Ran to step out of her cousin’s issue because he (Zhang Si Nian) will take responsibility for anything Yun Shu related. Meng Ran refuses.
It’s Yun Shu’s birthday tonight. Zhang Si Nian is waiting for her near the firm. He spots Hu Qi (Yun Shu’s cousin). He’s chasing him but there are police officers. Yun Shu’s words echo. She doesn’t want her cousin arrested. Thus, Zhang Si Nian slows down and eventually loses sight of him.
Meng Ran purposely sent Yun Shu to a surprise party he planned for her. It’s a romantic one. He confesses to her. But she tells him she’s married. Meng Ran tells her he’s already told Zhang Si Nian about his feelings and he knows of their contract. Yun Shu cares more about what Zhang Si Nian thinks of him liking her though. She rejects his love confession. She has to be somewhere else. She has to be with Zhang Si Nian.
Zhang Si Nian is at home waiting for Yun Shu. He’s very busy placing her birthday cake at the most obvious spot. He goes downstairs to wait for her but when he spots her with Meng Ran, he disappointedly leaves. He thinks she's spending her birthday with Meng Ran. When Yun Shu returns home, the cake isn’t displayed. No one is in the living room. Yun Shu attempts to knock on his door but stops herself. And thus, it’s a lonely birthday celebration for Yun Shu and a lonely night for Zhang Si Nian. Aw.
[Ep16] Zhang Si Nian is about to leave for work extra early. He's avoiding Yun Shu. But he only leaves when he hears Yun Shu’s door open. He tells her he can’t drive her today. Before he leaves he wishes her a happy birthday. So much sadness from the both of them.
Zhang Si Nian is uncharacteristically sulky. Lu Yu knows immediately he’s upset because of Yun Shu because in the twenty years he’s known him, he’s never seen him like this. The only new thing in his like is Yun Shu. Lu Yu deduces he’s upset because he thinks he’s going to lose to Meng Ran.
There’s tears in Yun Shu’s eyes as she apologizes for returning home late last night. There’s relief in his expression when he learns Yun Shu never chose to be with Meng Ran. It's all business between them, at least from her perspective. She closes her eyes to make a wish. Oh my, the emotion in Zhang Si Nian’s eyes when she’s making a wish. So much love. His smart watch alarm vibrates. It’s his heart rate going over 100bpm.
Yun Shu and Zhang Si Nian are at the supermarket. Yun Shu receives a call from Meng Ran. Zhang Si Nian quickly rushes to her side to overhear the contents of her call. She has to work OT on the weekends. Zhang Si Nian practically stalks her the entire time until he sees the client.
Meng Ran gives Yun Shu a health check up report. It's Zhang Si Nian’s. It's part of his job as Zhang Si Nian's lawyer to monitor his health...?? In there are his heart rates and blood pressure record for the past few days. Yun Shu connects the dates that his heart rate surged to the days she was with him. She quickly runs to him. She wants to confess. Zhang Si Nian receives his report too. This is the evidence he needs to verify he does love her. Zhang Si Nian wants to see her too. However, her cousin (Hu Qi) intercepts and takes her somewhere else.
Third Couple: Gao Zhi Yi thinks her boyfriend (Gu Xiao) is cheating on her. Lin Nuo is at her side comforting her. But Gu Xiao isn’t actually cheating. I'm surprised. I thought he was going to be a cheater for sure. He’s pretending to be his ex’s boyfriend for her mother who’s hospitalized. The fake girlfriend obviously has motives.
Second Couple: Angry fan girls of Lu Yu send Yun Lan a bloody present. By the way did I mention they're together? Because they're together.
[Ep17] Not only does Yun Shu’s cousin owe her money, he wants her to carry the rest of his debt. He takes her to his loan shark. A very anxious Zhang Si Nian finds her. Meng Ran is here too. They look over the contract. It’s legal although barely legal. Zhang Si Nian uses his mathematical calculations to convince the loan shark to knock off half the interest otherwise he might not get his money at all. The loan shark cooperates. Zhang Si Nian handles the rest of the debt. It’s not that the loan shark wants to be cooperative, he doesn’t want to mess with them.
Zhang Si Nian lectures Yun Shu for following her cousin without any fear. Yun Shu is tearful. She apologizes. Meng Ran steps in. He reminds Zhang Si Nian how worried he was about her, he shouldn't be lecturing her now.
At home, it’s Yun Shu who’s worried about Zhang Si Nian’s injuries. He doesn’t think the medical attention is necessary. His eyes are fixated on her. Meng Ran's call interrupts. Before the call ends, Zhang Si Nian kisses her. His balance is on point. “I like you.” Yun Shu smiles.
The morning actually wasn’t that romantic though as Yun Shu recounts to Gao Zhi Yi. She had put on a bright red lipstick thinking Zhang Si Nian would kiss her in the morning. But he thought her lips were dry. He even gave her a lip balm.
Third Couple: Lin Nuo comforted his way to Gao Zhi Yi’s heart. He tells her he’ll find her a boyfriend in this street tonight. The boyfriend is himself.

At night, Yun Shu hovers around Zhang Si Nian’s door to tell him she wants to sleep in her own room. He approves. She gives him a long distance heart kiss as she skimmers away. He drops his book and tries to catch her heart in the air. He caught it and puts it in his heart. So cute!
It’s the morning and Yun Shu is preparing breakfast. She tells Zhang Si Nian she can go to work by herself. He’s like okay. And then calls her name. Casually she turns around. Casually, he gives her a kiss. Squeaaaal. After he leaves, Yun Shu gleefully dances in circles.

[Ep19] Yun Shu is offered a chance to be a manhua artist by the angry client (Ms. Mei) she helped last time. Yun Shu decides to go all in for it. She quits her job at Meng Ran’s law firm. At night, she’s working on her draft for her interview. She’s to draw a story about domineering CEO. Zhang Si Nian calls up Yu Lu for some insider insights. His advices are useless except one: “Zhang Si Nian, you should give Yun Shu some inspiration...” The rest is inaudible because the OST kicks in and Zhang Si Nian gives Yun Shu an irresistible kiss. The kiss worked. Yun Shu is hired. Her first manhua “Mr. Perfect and Ms. Almost” will be published.
The first person Yun Shu calls is Zhang Si Nian but he’s busy. He is happy for her though. She then calls up her sister. She’s busy too. Third time’s the charm. She calls Gao Zhi Yi. She jumps in joy but suppresses her voice. They’re all planning a surprise party without her knowing. Thinking she’s alone at home, Yun Shu talks to Wu Qian. She reveals how it was Zhang Si Nian’s aggressive kiss that inspired her.
Yun Shu: Tonight I will attack him. I said it so I’ll do it. If I don’t then I’m a dog.
She smiles proudly to herself. Everyone is listening in. Flustered (and giddy), Zhang Si Nian opens the doors before she can say anymore.
Zhang Si Nian: Okay. You said it, so you’ll do it. Which side are you doing to hit first?
Surprise! Yun Shu is happily surprised to see everyone there celebrating her manhua.
Bad news: Gramps' cancer has returned. The doctor writes a three. He's got three months. Grandpa’s time is limited but he chooses to not tell his grandson. He wants to spend his remaining time happily with the people he loves.
New character: Lin Chu Chu. She was long time friends with Zhang Si Nian. Now she’s back and works as a professor in the same university as him.
Third Couple: Gu Xiao tells Gao Zhi Yi about his fake girlfriend. She doesn’t believe him. Lin Nuo thinks she wants to rekindle her love with Gu Xiao. Gao Zhi Yi and Lin Nuo fight over this. Gao Zhi Yi doesn’t want to break up with Lin Nuo but she also doesn’t know whether she still loves Gu Xiao.
Second Couple: Yu Lu takes a drugged drink for Yun Lan. Despite being drugged, he sincerely. confesses to her.
[Ep20] Yun Shu is sued for plagiarizing text in her manhua. She didn’t know. Not knowing isn’t an excuse. The lawyers (Yun Lan and Meng Ran) know this will be a problem for Yun Shu’s future career as a manhua artist. The only way is to meet with the plaintiff. Fortunately, she’s understanding. This girl is Lin Chu Chu. She retracts her case. The girls become friends. Lin Chu Chu starts telling Yun Shu about her love for this certain man who loves math.
Zhang Si Nian is dazed: Girls are indeed from Mars.
Yun Shu realizes the person Lin Chu Chu loves is Zhang Si Nian.
Extra Scene. Yun Shu is shy about calling him “Husband/Hubby”. He tells her to practice a bit more until it’s normal for her :). This scene should be following the one in Ep19 when Zhang Si Nian picked up Yun Shu after she quit her job. A female employee was flirting with Zhang Si Nian but he clarifies that he’s her “Husband” and not cousin. Thus, that started all the “hubby” calling this episode.
There’s an awkward dinner between Zhang Si Nian, Yun Shu, Meng Ran and Lin Chu Chu. Yun Shu keeps ordering dishes Zhang Si Nian either doesn’t like or is allergic to but Zhang Si Nian’s show of love to Yun Shu isn’t diminishing at all.
Yun Shu asks Zhang Si Nian what life means to him. He turns scientific on her. She changes up her philosophical question. She’s asking this because Lin Chu Chu claims she’s the compatible one with Zhang Si Nian because they share the same goals and same attitude in life. Zhang Si Nian assures Yun Shu that “Meeting you is my life’s happiest turning point.”
Yun Shu finds out Zhang Si Nian had refused a research opportunity with Lin Chu Chu because he’s afraid Yun Shu would be unhappy. She doesn’t want to be impeding him on his life's goals. Although she doesn’t fully understand the details of his goals, she wants to help him to the best of her abilities. She packs his suitcase to send him away to complete the research project. He likes her even more. They kiss. It's bound to be a sweet night but the door bell rings. It’s Gao Zhi Yi.
Gao Zhi Yi and Lin Nuo break up. Lin Nuo played a game with Gao Zhi Yi. He gave her two choices and she had to reply instantly on which one. When he gave her a choice between him and Gu Xiao, she replied Gu Xiao. Uh oh. That was the first time they broke up this episode. The second time was when she caught him cheating. But he wasn’t. She misunderstood.
Gao Zhi Yi stays over at Yun Shu’s but Zhang Si Nian really wants to sleep with Yun Shu tonight. Yun Shu promises to sleep with him after Gao Zhi Yi falls asleep. Zhang Si Nian is doing push-ups to keep himself awake to wait for Yun Shu. After two failed attempts to escape from Gao Zhi Yi, Yun Shu is dead asleep. A tired Zhang Si Nian sleeps alone.
[Ep22] Yun Shu travels to Zhang Si Nian’s work place to tell him about Grandpa’s condition. Gao Zhi Yi and Lin Nuo are helping her. They accidentally overhear Zhang Si Nian and Lin Chu Chu’s conversation (he's rejecting her). He mathematically explains his love with Yun Shu. He calculated that out of all the time he spent with Yun Shu, 73.33% was filled with happiness. Teacher Zhang , I want to see your calculations. He loves Yun Shu despite how different she is from him. According to Zhang Si Nian, two people who are the same are like parallel lines. They’ll never intersect. This is his rejection to Lin Chu Chu. Mathematically, it’s not wrong, but, drama, please don’t wipe out the couples who are similar and happily in love.
Lin Chu Chu asks him for a hug as a farewell present. Zhang Si Nian quickly sticks out his hand for a handshake to reject the hug as politely as he can. Yun Shu, who’s been eavesdropping, accidentally makes a noise because she was nervous about Zhang Si Nian hugging her. After hearing that noise, Zhang Si Nian knows who’s outside.
Zhang Si Nian to Lin Chu Chu: I already have someone I want to hug.
A charismatic Zhang Si Nian walks over to the balcony. When he opened the door, he was expecting to see Yun Shu, but not Gao Zi Yi and Lin Nuo as well. However, that has no effect on his next move. He grabs Yun Shu in for an intimate kiss. The audience doesn’t matter to him.
Gramps has two months left to live. Lin Chu Chu has good news. There’s a surgeon who can operate on him. They’ll need to go abroad. However, Lin Chu Chu also informs Zhang Si Nian that Yun Shu has received an offer to work abroad with a renowned artist. For three whole years. What will Yun Shu’s decision be?
Yun Shu has her graduating essay to prepare. She promises Zhang Si Nian she'll pass it. Zhang Si Nian laughs that all is well as long as she's not late. Next day, she's almost late. Zhang Si Nian smiles knowing she'd be like this. He takes her hand and runs across the campus. She passes her graduation essay. Yun Shu has finally graduated. This also means it's almost a year since they first signed the contract.
Zhang Si Nian: Are you willing to extend our contract? To be my real wife?
Yun Shu agrees but she has a small request. She wants a year's time to work with her manhua artist. In the meantime, he can take Grandpa abroad. Zhang Si Nian agrees.

Yun Shu is all ready to go abroad for her career. However, she doesn't know Grandpa refused to take his surgery. He's already lived enough, he doesn't need to extend it like this. He makes Zhang Si Nian lie (with good intentions) to Yun Shu because if she knows, she wouldn't be able to go abroad.
Second Couple: Lin Nuo and Gao Zhi Yi are still awkward in breakup phase because they both still like each other. Gao Zhi Yi initiates. She even brings her ID so that she can marry him this instant. However, Lin Nuo rejects her. He has to go to Africa with this other nurse. Still, Gao Zhi Yi tells him she'll wait for him. Lin Nuo doesn't want her to. He believes that love is also about timing. They've missed each other. But his expressions are telling us otherwise! Lin Nuo, why are you making her cry?
Third Couple: Lu Yu is being sued by a client who likes Yun Lan. Yu Lu had wanted to handle it himself but his manager seeks out Yun Lan to let her know the gravity of this case on Lu Yu's career. Yun Lan accepts the client's request of being his lawyer. This majorly upsets Lu Yu. However, when he realizes how much consideration Yun Lan put into the settlement, his anger melts.
[Ep24] Yun Shu doesn't want Zhang Si Nian to send her off in the airport. She's afraid she'll miss him too much. In the airport, Yun Shu finds a notebook Zhang Si Nian left her. He wrote down everything he had pre-planned for her: the terminal she's supposed to get off at, the people who will pick her up, the place she needs to rent that's five minutes from her work place, the restaurants near her, etc. Sooooooo perfect. With tears welling up in her eyes, she runs from the airport. She’s not going abroad anymore.
Where does Yun Shu find Zhang Si Nian? At the movie theatre. She remembers that whenever he's sad, he'd buy a ticket to sit alone and cry. Aw this man never exposed how sad he was to let her go. He's sooooooooooo perfect. Yun Shu tells him she believes she'll have opportunities here too. To her, Zhang Si Nian and Grandpa are family. Family is irreplaceable for her. Zhang Si Nian thanks her for always being with him when he needs her most. She's always the one to make him realize what's important. Yun Shu has something else important to tell him, "I left my suitcase in the airport." Zhang Si Nian laughs. Our trusty Yun Shu never fails us. But they enjoy the movie first.
Third Couple: Yun Lan is pregnant. She had wanted to leave the city and even considered abortion because she didn't know if she could be a good mother. It was Yun Shu who noticed Yun Lan really loves Yu Lu and so she becomes her sister's cupid. With Yun Shu's heads up, Yu Lu proposes to Yun Lan in public. Yun Lan accepts. He believes she’ll be an amazing mother.
Second Couple: Yun Shu bumps into the nurse that Lin Nuo was supposed to go to Africa with. It turns out he purposely lied to Gao Zhi Yi so that she could move on from him. When Gao Zhi Yi finds an opportunity to volunteer in Africa, she texts Lin Nuo.
Gao Zhi Yi: I'm going to Africa to find you. You better wait. (It's a threat)Lin Nuo: Your “no brake habit”, can you change it! No brake habit = doesn't brake when she drives. She's the type to charge forward without thinking about the consequences.Gao Zhi Yi: Can't. What are you going to do about it?Lin Nuo: What can I do? I might as well pick you up.Aw. These two grew on me.
Main Couple: Grandpa thanks Yun Shu for warming up his grandson's heart. He knew all along that they were a contract couple. Zhang Si Nian assures Grandpa that they were meant to be. Yun Shu remembers the first time she met Zhang Si Nian at the coffee store, she thought she wasn't going to meet him again. And then we get a flashback of all their lovely time together as they're telling Grandpa their fated love story. At the end of their flashback, Yun Shu asks a question.
Yun Shu: Teacher Zhang, can I ask you a question. Do you think your life is perfect?Zhang Si Nian: If I'm without a Miss Almost like you then my life would not be perfect.

Remarks
[First Impression (Ep1-6)] There’s a small corner in my heart that completely digs these cliches. The ML is genuinely a good man but he’s so obsessed with perfection, it’s annoying. However, when someone imperfect colours his life, he’s unconsciously charmed. The FL is a common girl or maybe not that common anymore because I honestly cannot believe there are girls as innocent as her to live on this Earth. She will lend anyone money. She'll never learn from being scammed once or twice or thrice. These type of stories and characterizations remind me of shoujo mangas I used to read a long long time ago: professor-student relationship, cohabitation, contract-marriage, etc. This has it all. This is cliche, this is low budget, this is a repetition of everything else but it works on me.
Potential bias: I kind of really like Wei Zhe Ming.
[Actors/Actresses] Wei Zhe Ming won me over with his role in Find Yourself. He doesn’t have that young, fresh, handsomeness to him. He’s more of a boy next door type of guy so when he plays this “cold” role it’s not cold at all. There’s a sense of warmth. Xu Ruo Han is very new. She kind of reminds me of Ni Ni. [Ending Update] After finishing the drama, I love these two main leads even more.
[Behind the Scenes] Watch them! Wei Zhe Ming and Xu Ruo Han are so natural with each other. If someone tells me they’re dating, I’d believe it in a heartbeat. Watching these videos, I realize how much I love Wei Zhe Ming's voice. Yun Shu’s....is another story, lol.

- Yun Shu/Xu Ruo Han drew her own pictures in the drama :O. I love it when Wei Zhe Ming takes his time to examine her artwork and re-examine them.
- What is this skinship? What is this skinship? What is this skinship! Xu Ruo Han was asked if this was her first onscreen kiss. It is. When Wei Zhe Ming was asked the question it turned to how many on screen kisses he had. He’s had quite a few but he says that the kiss he had with Xu Ruo Han was the most memorable. That beam of light right before they kiss made it very beautiful. Xu Ruo Han approves of that answer.
- Wei Zhi Ming being oblivious to her sleepiness. When she’s asleep, he takes revenge on her by taking a selfie of her sleeping. Last time she took pictures of his abs and was planning to sell it for cheap.
- Will anyone believe they’re not dating? These aren’t even scenes of filming, they’re just playing around with each other and it’s caught on camera. And they know the camera is there!
- This is the revenge clip Zhang Si Nian referred to. He’s naked, cold and hurt. Didn’t know this scene in Ep1 was that hard on him.
[OSTs] Hua Zhou (花粥) sang all the songs in this drama. My favourite is 完美先生和差不多小姐 (Perfect and Casual).

Does Grandpa die? I think so. This makes me a little teary but he left as a happy man in his beach-side home with the grandson he loves in the hands of a woman who loves him. He left with no regret.

[Review] This drama turns a simple story into something charming. It’s all in the chemistry, the acting, and the directing. It showed me what it would be like when a mathematician falls in love. Zhang Si Nian would measure his biometrics to assess whether he's in love. Then he'd calculate emotions with numbers to validate his feelings. And yet, he can be so romantic. In the field of love, he started out as a kindergarten but by the end, he probably has a PhD.
There's two other couples in this drama. Lin Nuo and Gao Zhi Yi slowly grew on me. I like how their relationship progressed. I thought it was atypical and somewhat realistic how friends to lovers was portrayed between this couple. Then there's Yun Lan and Lu Yu. I didn't quite care about these two. I like Yun Lan but I thought Lu Yu's character was hard to relate. He's supposed to be this big star and yet he can flirt with the girl he loves in public like that. I don't know.
Now, the highlight of the drama: Zhang Si Nian and Yun Shu. I fell in love with this couple starting from Episode 5 when he patted her head to tell her she was worth it. Then the beautiful music danced in my ears. Finally, when they rehearsed for the marriage, I was completely sold on this couple. I eagerly waited for each episode to fall in love with them more. I'm so thankful that this drama didn't disappoint. It stayed sweet the whole ride. I have so many scenes I love that I can't pick a favourite. If I had to choose one that stood out, it would be Ep18. There was the movie date and also the night that followed where she cutely asked if she can sleep alone. He adorably received her air heart. Finally, the surprise casual kiss in the morning. This episode stood out not because there was a groundbreaking romantic scene, it was how moved I was despite how simple the events were. The director and the actors have mustered this magic that any scenes of them together is so romantic it melts my heart.
P.S. I love the colours in this drama.
[Verdict] Perfect and Casual is like this piece of chocolate that when I look at it I know how it tastes but once it’s my mouth, the ingredients meld so perfectly that I’m amazed a chocolate can taste this good.
