Mini Recaps

[Ep1Chen Jia Xin is the post-it girl at work. She's a pushover who has to do everyone's bidding as well as her boyfriend's. She takes her boyfriend on a cruise and he has the audacity to ask her for a VIP room. When he sees a pretty girl, he drops all his luggage for her to carry.
Chen Jia Xin and Wang Xi Yi's first encounter is on the cruise. Wang Jia Xin is an elite entrepreneur who is on the cruise to propose to his ballerina girlfriend (Shi Anna) but he dropped his ring while practicing for his proposal. That's when Chen Jia Xin does everything she can to catch the ring that's running away from them. She even falls in the pool for the ring. Wang Xi Yi dives in to save her. He unwilling gives her CPR but before he can she spits out water in his face. Jumping into the pool wasn't all fruitless, she retrieved his ring. Their fate continues to be tied together as their luggage are also switched.

[Ep2] Wang Xi Yi doesn't get to propose because his girlfriend left him to chase her ballerina dream. Meanwhile Chen Jia Xin's boyfriend is outright cheating on her. She doesn't know this; she's still dressing up to meet him but she's having difficulty zipping up her dress. She asks Wang Xi Yi to help her. They're friendly to that extent now.

Since she helped him with his ring he helps her back by catching her boyfriend cheating. It's done in a pretty humiliating way but she's still grateful for it. These two find comfort in each other's miserable love life. He boosts her confidence and makes her absolutely stunning. I don't like the dress. He also wins her boyfriend at pool to make him apologize to Chen Jia Xin.

[Ep3] Wang Xi Yi forgot to cancel his proposal event so Chen Jia Xin acts out his girlfriend. However, this isn't just a proposal, this is practically a marriage. They're doing wedding vows and signing the wedding certificate. They're both illiterate in English and have no idea what they're signing.

After too much alcohol the two have done it. This is different from the original version. The original had the guy drugged. In this version, he's just drunk. It's two very different situations because now what they have done is immorally wrong to Anna. She tries to pretend nothing has happened between them but she's such a conventional girl, she's absolutely devastated. Despite that, she still thanks him for giving her an unforgettable night (she doesn't mean the part on the bed though). It sure is an unforgettable night because days later they learn they're actually married. Since they married in Bahamas, they can't divorce in China and have to fly there to process the papers.

[Ep4] The divorce would have been a smooth process but Chen Jia Xin is pregnant.

[Ep5] From Grandma'scheme, Wang Xi Yi is unable to make it to the flight to the Bahamas for the divorce. Grandma is determined to stop her grandson from divorcing. Chen Jia Xin is oddly relieved. Through multiple coincidences, Wang Xi Yi learns of the pregnancy. He's also chased by Chen Jia Xin's mother with a feather duster and later fixed to a chair for investigation.

[Ep6] Wang Yi Xi finds Chen Jia Xin's journal that further highlights her low sense of self esteem. He gives her another lecture to improve herself. He also gives her the blanket while she's asleep. He's a good guy. Chen Jia Xin doesn't want to drag this good guy down so she plans to have an abortion. Wang Yi Xi is so worried for her, he dashes to the hospital. After seeing their fetus on the ultrasound, neither can abort it. Thus, they marry with a wedding kiss to seal the deal.

[Ep7] Wang Yi Xi renders his relationship with Chen Jia Xin to a contractual one. She promises she won't let Grandma know about the contract. Wang Yi Xi feels guilty for turning cold on her.

[Ep8] Although Wang Yi Xi is cold to her, he's actually quite the sweet one behind her back as he organizes her work so that she won't be bullied. He also gets jealous when she's too close to Dylan. A "scandalous" image is captured of her and Dylan. Wang Yi Zi misunderstands the picture as the reason that shocked grandma into a coma. It's actually grandma's daughter (Wang Xi Yi's aunt) who raised her blood pressure to that extent. Feeling (wrongfully) guilty, Chen Jia Xin packs her bags and leaves that night. She's left him a ton of post-it notes telling him that she's done this and that for him. He hates it that she left him.

[Ep9] Wang Xi Yi is jealous and picks up his wife back from Dylan. He chooses to believe her. He also chooses to go to her prenatal class with her. She's fooled into thinking he's sincere but he only wants the doctor's sponsorship. Chen Jia Xin is hurt and pleads him to not use her.

Remarks

[First Impression (Ep1-8)] "The Eternal Love" couple reunite in this Tdrama remake. This is the second drama of Joe Chen's being remade this year. First it was Prince Turns to Frog (Forget You, Remember Love) now it's Fated to Love You. I do remember the story but it's also been too long for me to remember the details. Was Ethan Juan's character always that nice? Wang Yi Xi (Xing Zhao Lin) is such a gentleman here. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Tdrama remakes but I'm giving this a try because it's these two actors. They're not stellar in acting but I still have a bit of love for them since The Eternal Love which is the only reason that's fueling me to watch this. I'm going to try this a bit more to see if I'm on board with their chemistry. At the moment, I don't feel it yet.

[Dropped] I prefer watching new stuff (new pairing, new chemistry, new story etc.). If the drama had given me a new story with the same pairing I wouldn't mind but I already know this story, I already know this chemistry. There's nothing that entices me. I like Xing Zhao Lin and Liang Jie pairing but I don't like them that much to complete this.
