[Ep2] Xi Chi and Xu Fang meet again in university. She purposely left without telling him. Meanwhile he couldn't tell her even if he wanted to because she wouldn't talk to him. He's in the archery team and she wants to be a veterinarian.
After their first encounter, they get into another arm wrestling match. Once again she loses even with two hands. He takes all her monthly allowance and still owes him. He's overly happy to be her loan shark.
[Ep3] Xu Fang has promised Xi Chi's brother to take care of his sister because she's poor (she won’t take money from dad). But Xu Fang does it in such a roundabout way. He first tortures her and then blackmails her. Torturing her to give him 100 compliments and then blackmailing her to listen to him otherwise he'd send the clip of her complimenting him to their high school group chat. I was smiling at the whole compliment scene. At the very end of all those compliments, he doesn't give the food she thinks he promised her. He does leave his food for her though.
Xi Chi loses a game and has to complete a dare: ask one of the archery members for their number. She chooses Xu Fang, thinking he won't embarrass her. Except, why would Xu Fang let go of such a beautiful chance to tease her? A ferocious Xi Chi attacks him and blood is shed. His blood. She takes him to the infirmary to tend to his injuries. She's worried for her only friend and asks him if they can stop fighting. His reply: "Dream on."
[Ep4] After the ferocious attack, the entire campus misunderstands Xi Chi for liking Xu Fang. He likes that idea very much. Only now she's out for revenge. I love her idea of putting a red teddybear in his laundry to dye all his clothes red. These two go pretty far to get back at each other. But when it comes to serious stuff, they have each other's back. Xi Chi becomes the archery team's assistant and learns the team will disband in a year if they don't show results. She secretly tells Xu Fang and becomes his little angel to help motivate his team. And him. She's the type of girl who likes bullying Xu Fang but won't accept it when others bully him.
[Ep5] Xi Chi's brother, Lin Xi Geng, and roommate, He Li Yang will probably form the secondary love line. They're both competitive gamers. From her bother, Xi Chu learns that Xu Fang had been secretly taking care of her. I think it's hard for the casting director to find someone to act as Song Yi Ren's younger brother. She's just too small. I thought the boy was her older brother at the very beginning.
Between Xi Chi and Xu Fang, the first person to be jealous is Xu Fang. He's jealous of her senior, Ye Shao Wen whom Xi Chi thinks she likes. It’s Xi Chi’s first time liking someone. Meanwhile Xu Fang knew he liked her since that rainy night he hugged her.
[Ep6] After a childish fight instigated by Xu Fang's jealousy, he miraculously wins over the huffy puffy chest dude (the obnoxious teammate). The teammate promises to not pursue Xi Chu at Xu Fang's request. Xi Chu is truly deserving of all Xu Fang’s love. She inspires his downcast teammates for him.
I'm 99.9999% certain Song Yi Ren did mess up her lines. She meant to split the profits of selling his team’s poster 3:7 where she was supposed the get the larger portion. Instead she gave herself the smaller portion. It would have easily been an NG if it had not been their natural reactions to carry through. I love these type of off-screen stuff.
[Ep7] Coach withheld Xu Fang's participation in the match. Xi Chi proves that Xu Fang deserves every right to attend. Xu Fang has also proved to be quite the leader. He's also quite straightforward with who he loves except to the person he loves. Ye Shao Wen confronts Xu Fang that "love isn't first come first serve." A tense Xu Fang replies, "then you go try."
Xu Fang takes his own advice and tries to confess. It fails. He's interrupted by Xi Chi who wants his bike prize for winning the archery match (which, by the way, was pretty cool to watch). He apologizes for the words he said that rainy night. She told him she had long forgiven him and went to look for him the second day but he was absent. He too tells her he went to search for her. As she's circling around him on her new bike, he quietly thanks her for every support she's given him. I like the bike scene. She's circling around him like he's the centre of her world. And to him she's the world that surrounds him. It's only a matter of time.
Ye Shao Wen takes initiative as well and asks her out. Excited, Xi Chi asks Xu Fang what type of girls men usually like. Xu Fang's answer: long hair, cute, wears white dresses. Basically everything opposite of Xi Chi. And everything opposite of what he likes. Angry, she steals his lunch telling him he only deserves dog food.
Third couple: Nie Yu and Jiang Zheng Xu. They're kind of cute. And he sings well too.
[Ep8] Xi Chi follows Xu Fang's awful advice to a T and shows up in a white dress and long hair to her date with Ye Shao Wen. Except the wig flies off in the wind LOL and steak juice stains her dress. He takes her to a painting workshop which is the last thing she wants to do. She left her canvas blank until a dog picture (cough, Xu Fang) inspires her.
Xu Fang is horrified when he sees her in the getup he suggested. More like he's disappointed the one she likes isn't him. It was so cute when he misunderstood she liked him. Furious, he calls her ugly and that ruins the entire date for her (not like she was having fun to begin with). As quick as they fight, they also make up instantly: he takes her out for food, food that she likes which isn't steak.
[Ep9] It's Xi Chi's birthday soon and Xu Fang remembers it before she does. He's scratching his head for a present idea until he settles on a personalized cat cup and an inspiration book (about caring for animals). In Chinese, there's a saying that if you're giving a cup as a present it means to be with each other forever. However, Xi Chi misunderstands that the present is from Ye Shao Wen. How can she misunderstand though, he's always calling her a cat. She also doesn't know that he helped her retaliate against these girls who were badmouthing her. He exploded coke on them.
I wasn't expecting to like Nie Yu this much. She's smart in everything useful and catches on to all the love problems.
[Ep10] Xi Chi is fired from her job that YSW had connected her with. It's the cat cup that cheers her up when she's down. She also shares her problem with Xu Fang who says the right words to motivate her. And she finally thanks the right person for the birthday present.
Xi Chi is back at the pet store to prove her worth just as Xu Fang had advised her. She really listens to him well. That dog is as big as her.
Other couple updates: Jiang Zheng Xu almost wins his crush over but stupidly missed his chance, and Lin Xi Geng is motivated to study by his crush (which he doesn't realize yet)
[Ep11] Life is miserable for Xi Chi. She's got family problems, work problems, and also friend problems. The person she wants to share it with is Xu Fang but he's angry at her for neglecting him. However, when she goes missing, he ditches his practices and searches the entire city for her. He's barging into all the KTV rooms hollering for XC. When he does find her, she's drunk. She tells him her parents have actually been divorced for ten years. He silently listens as he piggybacks her to a hotel. Xi Chi looks even more like a kid when he's piggybacking her. Her legs barely reach past his waist. The drunk her treats him like a dog. Scratching his chin, she tells him he's handsome. It's a romantic moment until she burps.
[Ep12] Xu Fang sweetly consoles her.
[Ep13] Xu Fang is sweet again~ XF brings fireworks right to her window for New Years just to cheer her up. He also opens the bus window for her when she can't and that physical proximity bothers her. I think she's finally starting to see him as a man. She asks him if no one wants her, can she really go to him (if I didn't know the context, it sounds like those promises platonic "friends" make to marry each other if they don't find anyone in the future).
[Ep14] She deliberately breaks Xin Zi Dan's cup because she broke hers (the one XF gave her). It took her four tries. Imagine how angry XZD was... Overridden with guilt, Xi Chi runs away from the crime scene. She goes shopping with Xu Fang for a new cup (for herself). She buys two hoping Xu Fang will foot the bill. But he doesn't, heh. Instead he steals her second cup for himself. I actually thought she bought the cup for XZD. When XZD cries at the dorm, XC confidently tells her she broke it, demanding the same honesty from XZD. I love XC's personality, so straightforward.
Xu Fang getting close to XC is now seriously bothering her. This is second time she's feeling butterflies when Xu Fang gets really close. When XC learns her friend has feeling for XF, she can't bring herself to help her. XC is even dreaming about him at night. The obvious telling sign of her changed heart is when she was unable to accept Ye Shao Wen's confession. Her feelings for Xu Fang didn't happen overnight. With her mother's incident, the one who's been beside her all along was Xu Fang.
Accepting her feelings, Xi Chi calls her brother for advice.
Like brother, like sister. Lin Xin Geng also sees potential in Ye Shao Wen (just as she did initially) but this time around, XC is XF crazed.
It's his birthday and Xi Chi has a birthday surprise for him. She draws on his face. With permanent marker. Xu Fang was awake the entire time but he was trying hypnotize himself to control his anger because this is the woman he chose to love. Lol. XC runs away but he drags her back to help erase the permanent marker. It's a sweet moment. Especially when XF knows their love is mutual.
Now comes the real surprise: the birthday cake and present. She tells him to make a wish and he wishes for her to be more honest. The present is an archery shoulder pad with her personally sewn dog on it. He gives her a cat and now she gives him a dog. She wants this armor to protect him in her stead whether he's in competitions or practices.
Xi Chi blows his candle and tells him she can't fulfill that wish. He moves the cake away and grabs her in for a hug resting her head on his chest.
[Ep16] Day 2 of their relationship. he's waiting at her dorm to give her a pretty breakfast (cake and coffee). Meanwhile she's bought her ten traditional Chinese buns. She promises to not steal his. LOL. She also threatens him that if Xu Family's oldest son (aka XF) breaks up with his first love (aka XC) all his future fart will be smelly and loud. He curses her the same and harsher. These two. So sweet.
It's Valentines Day and he takes her home to showoff to his delighted parents. He also gives her a Valentines present but not the code to open it. He tells her it's for another day. Last but not least, he gives her a Valentine kiss. This girl had wanted her first kiss in three years...
[Ep17] She ate the last candy and she casually tells him "oh no, I ate the last one, I meant to save it for you." They're all empty words. She'd never do that and he knows it. But he takes her bait and asks her to confirm it. She confirms. And so. He hovers over the table and kisses her to taste the candy himself. Where did he learn to be so sweet? I think her post-reaction is asking the same thing. Seeing these two feeding each other makes me smile.
Updates on other characters: He Li Yang suffers a motorcycle injury. Through this, Xi Chi realizes her brother likes her friend.
[Ep18] Xu Fang majorly disappoints at an important competition. He succumbs to everyone's pressure of him but his entire team has misunderstood he lost on purpose. His team blames him for being selfish that he lost the team match and just cared about his own championship. I don't understand why Xu Fang is willingly playing the bad guy role. Only Xi Chi doesn't believe what he's saying. Just what is bothering him? Our forever coach (who's also skilled in hockey from Skate into Love) diagnoses his problem. XF has xanthophobia, a fear of yellow. The pressure to shoot at the yellow target disarrays his aim.
Xi Chi has her own problems too: Chen Ding keeps spamming her with calls. She's the daughter of the man Xi Chi's mother married. Turns out mom never had an easy life.
[Ep19] This episode didn’t start off that well but it does get better. Xu Fang tells Xi Chi he wants to go abroad but he hides his psychological disorder from her. She misunderstands that he’s just like her mother. To Xi Chi, leaving like this means abandoning her. Technically, Xi Chi has a psychological disorder of her own abandon-phobia. Rashly, she tells him to break up. Xu Fang who understands her the best in the entire world isn’t angry with her. He decides to give up his treatment for her sake. He’s also too proud to admit he has a weakness so Coach smartly meddles in their relationship and informs Xi Chi.
The next morning Xi Chi pretties up to take Xu Fang out for food. He’s still grumpy with her about the “break up” and she smiles like she’s forgotten all about it. She tells him “Maybe I have amnesia ba” Chinese has different ending intonations for different types of sentences. Here she uses “ba” which is often used when making a suggestion. But “ba” also sounds like father and hence the following pun: Xu Fang snickers, “At least you remember your father” xD. Her first plan is to mend the friendship with Jiang Zheng Xu. Frankly, I don’t think XC deserves credit for this if all she did was drop XF off at his part time job. But the boys do make up and XF promises him he’ll strive to complete his dream for him. Xu Fang’s number one fan was never Xi Chi, it was always Jiang Zheng Xu.
It's not just an episode of Xu Fang's journey to recovery but also Xi Chi's. After finding a series of letters from Dad’s belongings she’s forgiven Dad (who never deserved to be hated from the very beginning anyways). She’s healed from her emotional wounds and Xu Fang will be travelling abroad to heal his.
[Ep20] Before Fang Fang leaves, Xi Chi gives him a present. It's a necklace. Jiang Zheng Xu thinks it looks like a dog chain. That is precisely the present. It doesn't seem like Fang Fang detests it that much though. He's more than willing to be her dog. He also gives her a "present" in return. It's a journal with the title, "Mine and FF's Future Plans Together." He tells her to write in it and when he returns he'll fulfill each and every one of them with her. So sweet. It's inspired from her journal when Fang Fang had accidentally found it. His smile is so cute when he learned of her journal's existence. That's how Fang Fang learned about her 3-year kiss plan. Thank god he didn't follow it. She doesn't like being on the short end of the stick so she corners him asking when he started liking her. He doesn't remember is what he tells her. He backs up his answer by asking her if she remembered the moment she liked him. She can't. However, he lied. He does remember. Awwwwwwww. All the way back from middle school when they were studying in the library, she woke up from a nap and bam, cupid has done it's job on Fang Fang.
I really like the naturalness oozing from them here. XF offers to piggyback her and she offers to take his backpack for him but he's like no need, I'll just carry it in the front. These lines of theirs feel so natural, it makes me doubt whether they were actually in the script.
[Ep21] Xu Fang is still abroad. Mom is trying be a mom and advises Xi Chi to give up on Xu Fang. XC yells at her that when she was alone without her mom, it was Xu Fang who was at her side. She won't give up Xu Fang no matter what. Generally it's a sad episode. Xu Fang is feeling hopeless about his disorder and Xi Chi is missing him a lot. Witnessing her boyfriend's struggles, it motivates Xi Chi to research about the disorder. I like this motivated Xi Chi way more. However, she's so preoccupied with his problems, she falls ill from exhaustion.
[Ep22] Xu Fang is still abroad. Xu Fang calls up his buddy and cries. He says he wants to come back because he's worried about Xi Chi. She had updated him earlier about her hardships at work. Oh my, Xu Fang can sacrifice anything for her. Jiang Zheng Xu comforts him that he'll handle Xi Chi from this side. JZX recruits the archery boys to walk Xi Chi home and that cheers her up immensely.
Jiang Zheng Xu and Nie Yu: His father has left him a load of debt and he's working at a cafe to pay it off. Meanwhile her parents are worried about their daughter's boyfriend (understandable). She's angry at them for looking down on him but at the same time she's asking them for money to support her boyfriend's dream...
Xi Chi and step-sister: Xi Chi forms a new bond with Chen Ding via a turtle. It's also a sign of Xi Chi's forgiveness to her mother. She's moved on from her emotional trauma of being abandoned.
[Ep23] Xu Fang is back!! A delightfully surprised Xi Chi gleefully jumps up and down. Cute. That's something I do in my mind only hahha. Once she settles down, she stands there waving her hand for him to hug her. Aw. They're in her condo now and she climbs on the table to talk to him. She's demanding to know the passcode for her Valentine's present from way back when. He doesn't tell her so she jumps him and sits on his lap. It's a romantically awkward moment. Snapping out of it, she quickly ushers him to shower. Meanwhile, she's perfuming herself profusely. It's all wasted effort though because he completely ignores her rigid form on the bed. The naughty boy is doing this on purpose. He takes her yoga mat and sleeps on the floor next to her bed. She's so upset she's rolling and rolling and rolling and eventually rolls off the bed onto him and his mat. Next morning, she rushes to wake up. They're both waking up from the bed. This scene skims over rather quickly, I guess the night is left for our imaginations.
Xi Chi opens the box and finds a ring. Initially she's in awe but the size of the ring is double the size of her finger. He tells her of course it's not for her. It's for him. Her ring is with him. He gets down
on one knee and proposes to her.
[First Impression (Ep1-6)]: Easily likable with endearing leads. I like that their relationship isn't a truly hateful one. Underlying their antics they care for one another and they both know it.

She’ his one man cheerleading team but her cheers sound more sarcastic than sincere, haha. Xu Fang is so confused. He complains to his friend that she's being weird and showing off her good looks for no good reason. His oh-so-smart friend thinks she's dressed up for Ye Shao Wen. This useless friend does something useful though, he motivates XF to make a move soon.
XC smiles: When he's close, yes (flashback: at the gym room just now)
LXG: When you see him, will you be happy?
XC: Yes. (flashback: her scratching his chin)
LXG: When he's close with another girl, will you be upset?
XC: Of course. (flashback: the dream of him and XZD)
LXG: Then do you think Xu Fang will like you?
XC sighs: Do you think I'm a big fool. YES. She's thinking back to the conversation she had with XF about liking a fool.

They spend the entire day together and when he drops her off at her dorm, she comes running back out again and repeatedly calls his name. She doesn't think any of this feels real yet. Xu Fang strides in with confidence and grabs her in for another strong hug.
Xi Chi: This wish, I think I can fulfill it.
Xu Fang: Now does this feel real?Operation "Raid Fang Fang Plan" is a success.
Xi Chi: This feels even less real.
[Ep16] Day 2 of their relationship. he's waiting at her dorm to give her a pretty breakfast (cake and coffee). Meanwhile she's bought her ten traditional Chinese buns. She promises to not steal his. LOL. She also threatens him that if Xu Family's oldest son (aka XF) breaks up with his first love (aka XC) all his future fart will be smelly and loud. He curses her the same and harsher. These two. So sweet.
XF mumbles to himself: Silly, who would leave you behind. Okay. This is sweet.
XC smiles (while stuffing her face).
[Ep17] She ate the last candy and she casually tells him "oh no, I ate the last one, I meant to save it for you." They're all empty words. She'd never do that and he knows it. But he takes her bait and asks her to confirm it. She confirms. And so. He hovers over the table and kisses her to taste the candy himself. Where did he learn to be so sweet? I think her post-reaction is asking the same thing. Seeing these two feeding each other makes me smile.
Updates on other characters: He Li Yang suffers a motorcycle injury. Through this, Xi Chi realizes her brother likes her friend.
[Ep18] Xu Fang majorly disappoints at an important competition. He succumbs to everyone's pressure of him but his entire team has misunderstood he lost on purpose. His team blames him for being selfish that he lost the team match and just cared about his own championship. I don't understand why Xu Fang is willingly playing the bad guy role. Only Xi Chi doesn't believe what he's saying. Just what is bothering him? Our forever coach (who's also skilled in hockey from Skate into Love) diagnoses his problem. XF has xanthophobia, a fear of yellow. The pressure to shoot at the yellow target disarrays his aim.
Xi Chi has her own problems too: Chen Ding keeps spamming her with calls. She's the daughter of the man Xi Chi's mother married. Turns out mom never had an easy life.
[Ep19] This episode didn’t start off that well but it does get better. Xu Fang tells Xi Chi he wants to go abroad but he hides his psychological disorder from her. She misunderstands that he’s just like her mother. To Xi Chi, leaving like this means abandoning her. Technically, Xi Chi has a psychological disorder of her own abandon-phobia. Rashly, she tells him to break up. Xu Fang who understands her the best in the entire world isn’t angry with her. He decides to give up his treatment for her sake. He’s also too proud to admit he has a weakness so Coach smartly meddles in their relationship and informs Xi Chi.
The next morning Xi Chi pretties up to take Xu Fang out for food. He’s still grumpy with her about the “break up” and she smiles like she’s forgotten all about it. She tells him “Maybe I have amnesia ba” Chinese has different ending intonations for different types of sentences. Here she uses “ba” which is often used when making a suggestion. But “ba” also sounds like father and hence the following pun: Xu Fang snickers, “At least you remember your father” xD. Her first plan is to mend the friendship with Jiang Zheng Xu. Frankly, I don’t think XC deserves credit for this if all she did was drop XF off at his part time job. But the boys do make up and XF promises him he’ll strive to complete his dream for him. Xu Fang’s number one fan was never Xi Chi, it was always Jiang Zheng Xu.
It's not just an episode of Xu Fang's journey to recovery but also Xi Chi's. After finding a series of letters from Dad’s belongings she’s forgiven Dad (who never deserved to be hated from the very beginning anyways). She’s healed from her emotional wounds and Xu Fang will be travelling abroad to heal his.
[Ep21] Xu Fang is still abroad. Mom is trying be a mom and advises Xi Chi to give up on Xu Fang. XC yells at her that when she was alone without her mom, it was Xu Fang who was at her side. She won't give up Xu Fang no matter what. Generally it's a sad episode. Xu Fang is feeling hopeless about his disorder and Xi Chi is missing him a lot. Witnessing her boyfriend's struggles, it motivates Xi Chi to research about the disorder. I like this motivated Xi Chi way more. However, she's so preoccupied with his problems, she falls ill from exhaustion.
[Ep22] Xu Fang is still abroad. Xu Fang calls up his buddy and cries. He says he wants to come back because he's worried about Xi Chi. She had updated him earlier about her hardships at work. Oh my, Xu Fang can sacrifice anything for her. Jiang Zheng Xu comforts him that he'll handle Xi Chi from this side. JZX recruits the archery boys to walk Xi Chi home and that cheers her up immensely.
Jiang Zheng Xu and Nie Yu: His father has left him a load of debt and he's working at a cafe to pay it off. Meanwhile her parents are worried about their daughter's boyfriend (understandable). She's angry at them for looking down on him but at the same time she's asking them for money to support her boyfriend's dream...
Xi Chi and step-sister: Xi Chi forms a new bond with Chen Ding via a turtle. It's also a sign of Xi Chi's forgiveness to her mother. She's moved on from her emotional trauma of being abandoned.
[Ep23] Xu Fang is back!! A delightfully surprised Xi Chi gleefully jumps up and down. Cute. That's something I do in my mind only hahha. Once she settles down, she stands there waving her hand for him to hug her. Aw. They're in her condo now and she climbs on the table to talk to him. She's demanding to know the passcode for her Valentine's present from way back when. He doesn't tell her so she jumps him and sits on his lap. It's a romantically awkward moment. Snapping out of it, she quickly ushers him to shower. Meanwhile, she's perfuming herself profusely. It's all wasted effort though because he completely ignores her rigid form on the bed. The naughty boy is doing this on purpose. He takes her yoga mat and sleeps on the floor next to her bed. She's so upset she's rolling and rolling and rolling and eventually rolls off the bed onto him and his mat. Next morning, she rushes to wake up. They're both waking up from the bed. This scene skims over rather quickly, I guess the night is left for our imaginations.
When she's off to work, he cleans up her messy room and finds her journal (the one he gave her). Inside are entries all about him. One of them made me laugh, she complains that none of her coworkers believe she's the type of girl to have boyfriend. Another entry she comforts herself that although she's alone, her heart isn't (it's filled with Xu Fang). Thus Xu Fang is on a mission to complete everything she wants to do in her journal. He picks her up from work telling her coworkers he's her legendary boyfriend. Delighted to see him, she jumps onto his back and he gives her an airplane ride. He invites all their friends for dinner so she's no longer eating alone. She's happy to see everyone until she's informed that she's treating. She glares at Xu Fang, and he quietly tells her he'll treat, lol. Xu Fang also reserves an entire movie theatre because that's what she wanted. Now that they're alone, she puckers her lips for him to kiss and he just brushes her aside. This man. When it's his turn to stare at her during the movie, she slaps his face (deservingly) without even looking at him.
After the movie, Xi Chi outright asks him when he's planning to marry her. He's in no rush which makes her cry. He's weak to her tears and hugs her. She happily thinks he's agreed to marrying her (Lol, is she really proposing) but he's just teasing her. He replies with "it will depend on your performance."
Xu Fang is planning to go to Beijing for a competition to enter the nationals. Xi Chi is alone again (temporarily) but she's grown up. He takes her on his bike and together they arrive back to their high school. He gathers everyone (parents and friends) to the rooftop and tells her to take out her Valentine's present. She's asking him for the passcode but he still won't give it to her. Omg. The ring was in there all along? He planned to marry her since then? Everyone's giving her hints and it's her brother who's the smartest of them all; it's her name in numbers (0710). Lin Xi Chi sounds like a set of numbers: Lin is 0; Xi is 10; Chi is 7. The passcode has her numbers ordered so therefore it: 0,7,10. That also used to be her QQ handle from a looooong time ago.
Friends: Cheers to the world's best us!
on one knee and proposes to her.
Xu Fang: Lin Xi Chi, adopt me, won't you? Awwwwwwww.
She gives her hand to him without hesitation for him to put on the ring. Cheering to kiss and these two naughty lovebirds won't share their kiss and covers it up.
Years later, Xi Chi is pregnant (and married)! I'm watching kids have kids. She's questioning whether this happiness will last, whether after "filming" everything will end. She's using filming metaphorically but it's also nearing the end of the film soooooooo.... He tells her she deserves happiness. He takes her hand to caress his face to tell her that this happiness is real.
XF: Chi Chi, I love you.And now we get the kiss.XC: Even if filming ends, you still have to love me.XF: Don't worry. When filming ends I will still love you.

Remarks
[First Impression (Ep1-6)]: Easily likable with endearing leads. I like that their relationship isn't a truly hateful one. Underlying their antics they care for one another and they both know it.
[Actors and Actresses]: Oddly, the main leads of "Flavour, it's Yours" each have their new drama premiering on the same day. Song Yi Ren in this and Gong Jun in Love Equations. Both are campus romance. Anyways. I like her. She seems to be reenacting her previous role. Not that I mind too much as long as she delivers. Zhang Yao, I've seen before in "When We Were Young". In that one his emotions were suppressed because he was the shy guy. Here, he gets to smile all he wants and I'm loving his uneven teeth. [Episode 15 Update] As much as I like Song Yi Ren, she is overacting. The way she's wearing her clothes are bugging me too. I think it's cause she's trying to hide her small stature but it just looks sloppy.
[By Episode 13] What I love about this drama: their naturalness. He can put an earphone in her ear and feed her ice cream likes it's the most normal thing to do.
[Behind the Scenes] As I'm waiting for the last two episodes to air, I'm indulging myself in their BTS videos. They're called the "Chi Fan" couple which directly translates to "Eat Rice". It's usually meant to mean "Eat". Therefore they're our "Eating Couple". Coincidentally, their filming crew (including themselves) are known for ordering a ton of food.
Song Yi Ran is chirpy in interviews and Zhang Yao is always laughing. They're both super silly on set. The hug in Episode 15 was so sweet but behind the scenes, they were both flapping around like children. The director had no idea what to do with the the two idiots. There's another BTS where the director kicks her playfully because she kept laughing during a "kiss" scene.
[Ending] I like it! My love for the drama did dwindle when Xu Fang was abroad but the last two episodes wrapped up everything so fresh and lovely my love rebounded even more. I like Xi Chi's reaction to seeing him when he came back. I like how he kept true to his words and completed her journal entry wishes. I looove the idea that the ring was in that Valentine present. I never thought of that. He wanted to marry ever since he started dating her. Wow. No wonder he was so calm about the whole marriage thing. It's not that he's not in a rush, he was already way ahead in the game. And the whole "marry me" becomes "adopt me". That's so cute and so them.
Another thing I love: the metaphorical ending. Xi Chi keeps comparing her life to a drama because her happiness feels so unrealistic hence the last few lines between the two. It's the drama telling us even though it's ended, these two characters, Xu Fang and Xi Chi will always love each other.
[Review] This drama doesn't categorize into light fluff. It's more meaningful than it appears especially in the latter half. Xi Chi has one emotional hurdle she has to overcome the entire length of the drama: insecurity. It's with Xu Fang that she finally feels secure. However, when he's gone it's a true testament to her character growth. That bike scene in ending song mirrors her character so well. Xu Fang is the centre of her world that she revolves around and improves herself to match him. When that centre is gone, she learns to find gravity within herself to feel secure even if he's not physically there with her. Un-coincidentally, Xu Fang's centre did disappear physically: the yellow centre on his shooting mark. With Xi Chi's motivation (and a lot of his own effort), he regains that centre. These two revolve around each other and through each other they find the best of themselves.
The ending took me by surprise. I knew it was going to be good or at least decently good, but it went above and beyond with how romantic and unromantic Xu Fang was. It's so signature of him and their relationship. I didn't like the xanthophobia arc but the ending made up for it and more. With so many dramas ending off in marriages and proposals, this one stands out (see Ending commentary). The raw natural talent of Song Yi Ren and Zhang Yao made Xi Chi and Xu Fang a couple to remember that no other actresses and actors can recreate.
