Mini Recaps

[Ep2] A man hired our male lead to help him win over a girl. A woman hired our female lead to help her successfully keep the man. It’s funny watching their date evolve with so many people spying on them. The male lead, Dai Meng and female lead, Liao Duo Duo’s relationship immediately spark into a love-hate one. Their paths are bound to cross as both are experts in human psychology, both wanting to one-up each other.
[Ep3] Liao Duo Duo is somewhat a feminist. She teaches women to use their femininity to their advantage. Meanwhile Dai Meng used to be a police officer but was dismissed.
[Ep4] Dai Meng thinks DD is a scammer teaching women how to lie to men. When he learns that she's not a scammer, it's too late, he's already destroyed her reputation. Feeling guilty, he saves her when she’s chased by a bunch of old (rich) women claiming it’s her fault their husbands cheated. There’s a standoff between the chasers (the rich) and the common folks like we're in a Wu Xia film or something. I'm loving this.
With no reputation left of her name, and being under police investigations (for her boss's fraud crime) she shamelessly glues onto Dai Meng. Using her femininity, she gets Hua Sheng to hire her into their new startup as well. I'm waiting for her guise as the sweet, innocent girl to blow up against DM.
[Ep6] Oh man, I love this more. When I thought she was a lost soul in fangirl-ing, the team pulls together to capture the real liars.
This time we're solving Hua Sheng's mom's case. She's about to close her son's company because her's is running into financial problems. She's not your typical mom. For her, business comes first she's logical, cool and calm. She's willing to give her son's team a chance to find the spy in her company. Dai Meng proves his worth as he's able to instantly decipher the relationship among her employees in mere seconds. Mom approves and assigns her secretary to help them, who is also the target of Hua Sheng's love at first sight. How many times is this man going to fall in love?  I'm also curious how Hua Sheng is related to the case that had Dai Meng dismissed from his police officer career.
[Ep8] I don't know if Hua Sheng has a terrible eye for women or an amazing intuition but regardless he's definitely got an eye for one.
[Ep9] DD and DM show up for an undercover mission. It's serious business-talk. They're capturing a crafty snake only to fall into their own trap.
[Ep12] A bit of the past revealed: DM's investigation lead to Sun Xiao Kai's death and hence the dismissal. Sun Xiao Kai is also the savior of Hua Sheng when he was kidnapped years ago. It doesn't seem like HS is looking for revenge, he just wants a re-investigation. DM feels betrayed his loyal disciple had an ulterior motive and leaves their company. However when HS is in trouble, he'll even sacrifice his temporary single-hood to save him.
[Ep14] DM gallantly offers his back for DD to ride on after she chases him barefoot just to make sure he's okay after meeting the dad who has abandoned him. It's his dad's lies that made him the lie expert he is today.
[Ep17] DD has a unique way of asking DM to date her: pushes him against the wall like a police officer catches a criminal. She passes it of as a joke and he takes a breather.
Insert dance break
Back to the romance: DM gifts her a necklace and she gives him the honour of putting it on for her. But she wants more. She closes her eyes and waits for him to kiss her.
[Ep18] The next second DD opens her eyes, it's HS standing there ridiculing her while chowing on his ramen.

[Ep20] DD and DM are locked in a freezer after they expose a cult leader's lie. Facing life and death, they confess...but...it was all a daydream. I really thought it was real! She whines the entire time for him to confess to her and he's determined not to. The above is the screencap of when DM's crush (police officer) comes bursting through the doors to rescue them.

When he tells her to stop talking, she misunderstands it as him wanting her to kiss him. Once she realizes she misunderstood, she stomps off angrily after taking advantage of him. He doesn't seem to dislike it either. On a more serious note, Hua Sheng is finally acting like the boss and throws a rightful wake up call to his "employees" for their thrifty spending while still being in the red.

Remarks

First Impression (Ep1-6): I really like this! Modern Cdramas have really upped their game, eh. Brilliant dialogues. Intriguing setup with intriguing characters. A super rich gallant dude with no where else better to flaunt his money opens up a company and hires two expert liars lie detectors to solve issues of any kind. Imagine all the possibilities and the countless cases they can solve with absolutely no rules restricting them from lying or deceiving (which is their expertise). On top of all that, I‘m looking forward to the love-hate relationship between the equally smart leads. Please let this stay good.
By Episode 18: I'm getting a little bored of the silliness. There's too little heart and too many silly antics. Or the drama is trying to be full of heart but it's not getting through to me. It's still funny when it's funny though. I'm just a little disappointed in Duo Duo's character. She was so smart and confident for the first few episodes but ever since she started to work under him she's become so ditsy.

Dropped: This is more of a circumstantial drop. There's too many other dramas for me to complete this. However, the bottom line is it has lost its roots for me. It's so different from what I wanted it to be versus what it is now. I've also skipped too much to understand the plot. If you haven't noticed I've only focused on the romance because that's the only part I'm not zoning out of and even that's getting annoying. Perhaps it does get better later on but I'm not in it for the ride anymore. Suck, I really did like the beginning. I also wanted to like this especially because it comes from actors who aren't typically in leading roles.
