Chinese Title: 旋风十一人
Episodes: 35 31
Go! Goal! Fighting! is this spring's youthful drama. It's a drama about sports, romance, teamwork, and friendship. I especially loved the first ten episodes because that's when the team is finding their roots and developing their bond. There are a ton of characters and a ton of romantic potentials but it's really the teamwork that is the focus of this drama – and well, Hu Ge.
Mu Shuai's "nose-picking signal" = "score" |
Mu
Qi (Hu Ge) or self-acclaimed Mu
Shuai (Shuai = Handsome) is hired as a coach for the worse high school
soccer team in the region. He's got a hidden agenda though; he wants to rent this
piece of land that belongs to the school for his own soccer club. The principal,
Zhong Yan, who hired
him has a motive of her own: she wants a piece of him (rawr), which
she doesn't bother hide.
Pei
Duo (Maggie Jiang) aspires to be a teacher. She gets to be one. She was just hired by the
Principal and she’s assigned the assistant coach position. It's a rough start
between her and Mu Shuai after a few misunderstandings on both ends. She's the
type of girl who goes by the books; what's right and what's wrong has a clear
divide for her. As for Mu Shuai, he doesn't go by the books but he's still
righteous in his own twisted way.
Pei Duo and Mu Shuai your typical
drama OTP: the ones who bicker but have the same values just different
approaches. However, they've got a social status issue. The girl is rich, skilled in taekwondo, plus her personality is like an angel from
heaven. Mu Shuai is on the poorer end, struggling to keep his soccer club afloat. Regardless, he’s always been a lady’s man.
Wang
Jing Ke (Niu Jun Feng) is the captain of the team with a burning passion for soccer. It takes him a while to accept Mu Shuai’s
“I’m the boss” and man is he faithful. He does all of Mu Shuai’s bidding cheerfully. Aside from Hu Ge, he's the best actor here.
[Episode 4] Wang Jing Ke
are a pair Tang Qi
Qi He's a soccer fanatic and an academic failure while she's a soccer fan and a know-it-all-nerdie-girl.
Supposedly the best looking guy |
Qin
Ming Hao is a soccer prodigy with a dark, dark past. [Episode
3] Mu Shuai and Pei Duo pour immense effort into recruiting him. Poor guy doesn't know he's fooled into joining but he's a fool for soccer anyways. Oh yeah, he’s the drama’s definition of the “cool guy”.
Qin Ming Hao has a little sister, Qin Ming Yuan, who’s extremely
clingy (for a reason, there's always a reason). She's the obstacle between her brother and his love interest. I don't hate her though. She's also one of the better and prettier actresses in this drama.
Mu Shuai photobombing her |
He
Xin Yan is the most popular girl in school and Qin Ming Hao's love interest. She's also got these shady affiliations which turn out to be not so shady. (I don't
really like the actress; she's so bland.)
Ding
Yu
is the centre midfield – or was the centre midfield before he quit because he wouldn't
obey Mr. Ego but when the team needs his help, he'll be there. [Episode 6] He joins again all for one reason: he's got a huge crush on Pei Duo. It's funny when he calls her full name when she's his
teacher.
Since it definitely won't work out with Pei Duo, I think he should invest his interest in Wang Jin Ke. This drama needs more moments like these.
Zhou
Jing Wei is my favourite guy, I like nerds.
[Episode 6-7] He quit the team for his family but after Mu Shuai discovers he still has a burning passion for soccer Mu Shaui's not letting him go.
Isn't he just so cute? |
He likes Yu Yue. Their feelings are mutual but they're
the shy type.
Chen
Yi Zhi was the basketball leader but he decides to quit that to join the soccer
team as a goalie because basketball players make great goalies, apparently. [~Episode 9-10] He joined for an ulterior motive thought: his ultimate crush,
He Xin Yan, is on the soccer cheerleading squad. Expect constant brawls between him and Qin Ming Hao. By the way, he's the girly 7th Bro in Su Ran Ran's Husband Hunting Journey!
Gu
Mo
has cute dimples. [Episode 10-11] Anyways, he knew nothing about soccer until Mu Shuai conned him into the team for his ability to run long-distance. I really, really liked his addition to the team plus the way Mu Shuai recruited him actually made me laugh out loud.
Guan
Wen Fei is a rediscovery. [Episode 20] His natural
ability of being easily neglected is actually a skill. So being a
wallflower is a talent, guys.
Yin
Jian is what the Chinese call “Fu-Er-Dai”, the filthy-rich-second-generation which usually comes with the connotation of being spoiled spenders. He loves (?) Pei Duo but she doesn't love him.
Zhong Yan is the principal with the tacky glasses. She's devoted to Mu Shuai but she's got absolutely no hope with him.
Highlights
Pei Duo falls asleep on his arm but they both pretend nothing happened |
[Episode 9-10] After a hail
storm Mu Shuai is left stranded without his car or any means of transportation,
which happens to be all Pei Duo’s fault. Feeling guilty, she brings him to
a hotel but they can't open a room. Mu Shuai settles for the couch in the lobby but Pei Duo's guilty about it so she drags him to her dorm against his will. Also, he's threatened to not reveal
she's the one that sneaked him in if he's caught. Funny thing is Mu Shuai really doesn't want to go. Along the way to her room she keeps a huge distance between them, so far that she's nowhere to be seen
in the hallway. LOL. At one point he's just following the sound of her voice.
Pei Duo freaks out when he uses her washroom, leaves his stinky sock around, and sits on her bed. Then she tells him to sleep with
an eye cover on. Finally Mu Shuai blows his fuse.
Instantly, Pei Duo breaks down in sobs,
it's hilarious. On the other hand Mu Shuai is speechless at the turn of
event and obediently puts on the eye cover. And that’s how they spend their
first night together.
This scene made me laugh a whole lot because I can completely relate to both sides. I might have done the same thing if I were in Pei Duo's shoes: invite the guy over because I made him bed-less and then freak out when he uses my washroom and sits on my bed. Then on the other hand, I completely pity Mu Shuai for being dragged into the drama, there shouldn't be anything wrong with using the washroom and sitting on the bed xD.
Career lines |
[Episode 18] This scene
doesn’t bring much to the plot but it was funny. Pei Duo puts on Mu Shuai's magic sunglasses to reads his palm like a psychic and tells him, as serious as she can, that his career line is
nonexistent. Then he tells her, as serious as he can, that she’s the one with
no career line. In Chinese, telling a girl she has no career line means she’s
got no cleavage, haha.
FYI: These two started going out during/after this drama! I think I read somewhere he called her a
goddess. Unfortunately their relationship didn’t last too long but at least they’ve
got great chemistry in this drama. I think the above screencap was genuine laughter and not acting (:
