[Ep1] The drama continues with Lin Luo Jing and Zhong Wu Mei as a couple. However, she’s not his rightful wife, it’s someone else (Wen Ru Yu; Princess Bei Yu). She can only stay in his manor with the identity as a doctress. Lin Luo Jing doesn’t care about her title, she's happy just being with Zhong Wu Mei. Season One: This is what I recall from my spotty memory. I did do a “Review" for Season One but it’s pretty useless if you want to know the story, lol. Lin Luo Jing is a university student and is sucked into her video game with the goal of finding her true love among four beautiful men. Her new father (who adopted her) betroths her to Zhang Wu Mei. However, they get off to the wrong start. There’s also a conspiracy for the throne that her father is coveting all for a royal consort he loves. In the end Lin Luo Jing manages to protect the crown and find her true love: Zhong Wu Mei. She remains in this video game to stay with him.

Lin Luo Jing is at a pharmacy but she’s pushed away by the pharmacist, Jiang Xuan Yu catches her before she falls. He still likes her. He’s in the area to find medicine for his father-in-law (Tang Meng’s father).
Not only does Lin Luo Jing create the perfect concoct to cure the city’s disease (influenza?) she also finds a spy in the group who used the chickens to introduce the disease in the city. It’s 2020, and I find that idea awful. Since Lin Luo Jing was able to find the cure, she gets a wish from the Emperor. She begs him to free the innocent people involved in the chicken business. Zhong Wu Mei is disappointed she used the favour for that. He tries to convince the Emperor that Lin Luo Jing should also be rewarded. However, the Emperor only gives her a noble title and not the title of his rightful wife. Thus, Zhong Wu Mei takes Lin Luo Jing to elope (without her permission again). Lin Luo Jing is once again angry.
The Emperor is mad too. Wen Ru Yu threatens the Emperor she’ll return back to her country if he doesn’t find Zhong Wu Mei. Her Bei Yu alliance with the Emperor will also end. She also indirectly mentions how the Emperor is useless without Zhong Wu Mei.
Lin Luo Jing’s (Lin Fei Yu) father is alive and Jin Chen is formulating another conspiracy to covet the throne by collaborating with him.
[Ep3] Lin Luo Jing is out shopping (still mad). Zhong Wu Mei follows her. They bump into a girl (Xiao Yu) who’s forced to marry the overlord of the city. Lin Luo Jing doesn’t have money so she says ‘that man' (Zhong Wu Mei) will pay for Xiao Yu’s freedom. However, Zhong Wu Mei didn’t bring that much money either. Jiang Xuan Yu is in the city and solves the issue for them. He’s also caught in between their petty fight. Zhong Wu Mei has had enough of her temper and argues back with her. Angry, Lin Luo Jing gulps down a bowl of alcohol. Like magic, she falls asleep immediately. Zhong Wu Mei quickly catches her.
Zhong Wu Mei didn’t actually elope with Lin Luo Jing. He’s here under the Emperor's order to investigate something fishy. He doesn’t want her to know to keep her safe. But she’s here with you anyways! Jiang Xuan Yu is aware of it and updates him of the details in the city (and his father-in-law’s involvement).
The two make up in the most childish way. Lin Luo Jing punishes him by ripping a moustache she stuck on him (waxing is always a painful experience). She laughs and comments how someone else’s moustache looks better. It makes him jealous. She teases him that he’s “eating vinegar" (Chinese way of saying one is jealous) to which he replies that he doesn’t just want to eat vinegar, he wants to eat her. Rawr, they kiss.
[Ep4] For some reason, Xiao Yu is injured where Zhong Wu Mei was investigating. Lin Luo Jing is instantaneously jealous to see her man touching another woman. She flings him off. Zhong Wu Mei smiles when she's not looking.
The next day, Lin Luo Jing visits the pharmacist. She hears a familiar voice; it's Liu Xiu Wen. He won't reveal his face to her though. He's still involved in shady business. I honestly forgot what his deal was. Why is he loyal to this clan again?
Lin Luo Jing decides to help Xiao Yu find her family that have been attacked by bandits. Zhong Wu Mei is slightly suspicious of her. But, first, some romance. Zhong Wu Mei knew that Lin Luo Jing was jealous and gives her some love. He spins her so she's seated on his lap. However, their first kiss is interrupted by his servant (Zhang Ji). Their next kiss is interrupted by her maid. They both tell them they have news about the bandits. Zhong Wu Mei signals them to leave one last time. Lin Luo Jing is too embarrassed to continue.
Zhong Wu Mei tells her that even if they are to leave to find the bandits, they should eat breakfast first. Lin Luo Jing thought he was going to say – but before she can finish her sentence, his lips are on hers, "You thought I was going to eat you? You're right."
Back to business. Someone has to dress up as a girl to lure the bandits. Everyone disagrees to Lin Luo Jing being the lure. The only candidate left is Zhong Wu Mei who makes a beautiful girl.
[Ep5] Zhong Wu Mei has been wanting Lin Luo Jing to call him husband since forever. She says it, but shouts it in his ear. Regardless of the volume, it’s the most beautiful title he’s ever heard. He also tells her he wants to give her a proper wedding. When Zhong Wu Mei wakes up from a nightmare of her leaving him, he's even more afraid when she’s actually gone. He searches for her until he finds a pathway lit up by candles. Lin Luo Jing had planned a surprise romantic event. He hugs her in desperation. There's tears in his eyes. You can say he's moved, but he's also a tad angry. He'd rather not have the surprise if he has to experience losing her again. Their lovely moment is ruined with Wen Ru Yu's appearance. She’s here to convince them to return to their manor. As an exchange, she’s willingly to let Lin Luo Jing be her equal.
On their way back home, Lin Luo Jing plays a game with Zhong Wu Mei, Xi Qiu and Zhang Ji. Zhong Wu Mei keeps losing. Out of spite, he calls her a Stupid Woman (蠢女人). She immediately bites back, “I told you not to call me Stupid Woman, you Barbaric Man (野蠻人). Lol, is it just my who likes how mean she is when she said this line?
There are bandits waiting to attack Lin Luo Jing’s carriage. Liu Xiu Wen protects her in the shadows. Su Yi Yi, his companion, recalls he asked Lin Luo Jing that if she had to choose between him or Zhong Wu Mei who she would choose. She chose Zhong Wu Mei. Yi Yi turns the question to him. If he ever had to choose between her and Lin Luo Jing, what would his answer be.
Liu Xiu Wen: Fifteen years ago you allowed me to live. Fifteen years after she taught me what it was like to live.
Zhong Wu Mei is poisoned but he refuses to drink this bitter medication. Lin Luo Ning decides to cosplay because that’s the go to plan to make anyone drink anything bitter. She dresses up as a doctor. Ohhhh, now I remember this from Season One. It’s like he’s hypnotized as he drinks each spoon she feeds him.
[Ep6] We get another kiss. Are we going to get a kiss every episode now? Lol.
So Xiao Yu might be bad. I think it’s her in that mask. She works for Jin Chen (who’s also colluding with Lin Fei Yu who’s colluding with Bei Yu People).
The Emperor is sickly. He wants to pass his throne to Zhong Wu Mei but he doesn’t want it. He’s aware that if he gains more power, it will only endanger Lin Luo Jing.
Zhong Wu Mei becomes amnesic. The water Wen Ru Yu made him drink was another poison. Wen Ru Yu had no idea it was poison; her maid is the conniving one. Lin Luo Jing has an aside where she smacks her video game. She’s like how dare you introduce amnesia to me? This poison makes him forget the person he loves the most. Hence why he remembers everything else. He even treats Wen Ru Yu extra lovely now. I spoke too soon about the kisses. We’re not going to get them for a while now.
Lin Luo Jing doesn’t give up though. Their love is true love. If he loved her once, she’s confident he’ll love her nth times. She begins her seduction plans. But they all fail miserably. He calls her a Stupid Woman, this time there’s not a single affection to that nickname.
Wen Ru Yu doesn’t know about the poisons. Only the maid does. She’s under orders from Bei Yu Emperor who’s under the advice of Lin Fei Yu. Their next plan is to give Zhong Wu Mei the third poison so that he’ll be completely under their control.
Lin Luo Jing wears the dress that Zhong Wu Mei gave her to invoke his memories. It was the dress his mother wore. He doesn’t remember it but seeing her wear it, he wavers. She begins to bring up each of their memories (stinky tofu, porn, etc.). Nope, he remembers nothing. He insults her for being unladylike. She’s furious. Insulting her is one thing, but what is wrong with her being a lady and reading those books. She starts arguing about gender equality. Before he can argue back, she cuts him off. With a finger in his face, she reminds Zhong Wu Mei it was him who pursued her and him who promised he’d only love her. She calls him a Barbaric Man. He’s offended she actually dares to yell at him.
Lin Luo Jing: I am yelling at you. So what about it. I love this girl more and more.
[Ep7] Zhong Wu Mei finds it odd that he's not angry at Lin Luo Jin for hollering at him.
Lin Luo Jing moves on to her next seduction plan: to sing horribly. It suddenly starts pouring and his fear of thunder is once again exposed. She holds onto him and comforts him.
Liu Xiu Wen receives news of Zhong Wu Mei's selective amnesia and invites Lin Luo Jin to a campfire party. He's now the Prince of Qi Yu. He vows to her that he won't let go of her anymore. By the way, Liu Xiu Wen and Su Yi Yi are also working for/with Jin Chen.
As the Prince of Qi Yu, Liu Xiu Wen wants Lin Luo Jing to be bestowed to him as an exchange for his alliance. Zhong Wu Mei won't allow it. Although his love hasn't awakened, his jealously is subconsiciously stirred. Zhong Wu Mei claims that he won't allow Liu Xiu Wen to take her because she's his. Lin Luo Jing interrupts. She is not an item the men can fight for. Her own decision is to stay.
[Ep8] There's a match of who can make the other more jealous. I think it's a tie. Wen Ru Yu suffers a lot to our delight as Zhong Wu Mei showers her with love like torture. Lin Luo Jing has the ability to see the level of love he has towards her. She finds it odd that it increased to on full heart when she calls him 'Barbaric Man'. Not just one full heart, it went up to three full hearts as she keeps calling him Barbaric Man. I guess Zhong Wu Mei is a little bit sadistic?
Jiang Xuan Yu definitely still likes Lin Luo Jing. He tells her that no matter when or where she needs him, he'll be there for her. Still, he thinks for her best interest (i.e. he won't take advantage of her heartbreak). Lin Luo Jing considers leaving the game for good. Jiang Xuan Yu urges her to give a proper farewell.
[Ep9] Lin Luo Jing is heartbroken Zhong Wu Mei doesn't remember her. She's drunk. She starts telling him everything that happened between them but he thinks she's talking about someone else. He's a little drunk and admits how he wish the man in her story is him. With both of them drunk, they kiss. Lin Luo Jing snaps into consciousness. A kiss doesn't mean anything. She runs away. Huh??
Wen Ru Yu finds out her maid has been poisoning Zhong Wu Mei. She doesn't want to use poison. She believes she can capture Zhong Wu Mei's heart all by herself. That thought is immediately shattered when she sees him kiss Lin Luo Jing.
After that kiss, Zhong Wu Mei seems to have regained his memories of his Stupid Girl. However, it's soon wiped out again after Wen Ru Yu feeds him the third poison. Nope. Zhong Wu Mei doesn't drink it. He figured it out but he keeps up the act of being poisoned.
When Zhong Wu Mei continues his act of forgetting her, Lin Luo Jing decides to leave for good. She angrily steps out of the manor. She realizes she doesn't have any luggage so she turns back but the guard halts her: outsiders are not allowed to enter. She throws a tantrum. She literally stepped out of the manor for five seconds and now she's an outsider, lol. Conveniently, Xiao Yu brings out her baggage for her, not missing a single item she needs.
Lin Luo Jing has no where to go. She pretends to be a male and enters a brothel house. In the shadows, Hua Jing Ci uses magic to water down her alcohol to keep her sober.
[Ep10] Another man shows up to comfort Lin Luo Jing. It's Liu Xiu Wen. He listens to all her drunk complaints.
When Lin Luo Jing is sober again she realizes the oddity in Zhong Wu Mei's words. He knew she wasn't raised by her real father which means he regained his memory. Her game speaks to her: Bingo! She also realizes he's doing all this just to keep her safe.
Lin Luo Jing visits Liu Xiu Wen. She was saying farewell to him but thanks to Xi Que, Zhong Wu Mei misunderstands she’s choosing Liu Xiu Wen. He confesses that although he forgot her, he fell in love with her again. No matter what he won’t let go of her. If she wants to leave, she’ll have to take him. When he finally lets her speak, she tells him she chose him.
Liu Xiu Wen is abandoned again. Alen Fang, why are you always stuck playing the second lead who never gets the girl? He settles on colluding with Jin Chen. This is the moment he turns evil. Dun dun dun.
[Ep12] The moment Zhong Wu Mei and Lin Luo Jing are back together, she’s mad again (for him forgetting her and facing danger alone). It’s his turn to recite Chinese-like-Shakespearean poems. He calls after her his “Ai Fei” (my lady) but she doesn’t like that title because he called Wen Ru Yu that. Thus, Zhong Wu Mei calls her his only Stupid Girl. LOL.

After Lin Luo Jing helps Ye Chun Xi from a scammer, the girls bond. She learns Ye Chun Xi is Zhong Wu Mei’s sister (Zhong Zi Yun). So why hide it from her? Ye Chun Xin explains it must be to make her jealous. Ye Chun Xi is a disciple of Hua Ying Ci. She confirms he’s alive.
Xi Que is the little Cupid who mends the relationship between Lin Luo Jing and Zhong Wu Mei. They both want to make up anyways, they just need a stage, a random excuse. After they make up, these two are incredibly cheesy. He is willing to tell her more about the Pearl but she stops him. Her instincts tells her the less she knows the better. To avoid making him more jealous she doesn’t inform him it was Liu Xiu Wen who told her about it in the first place.
Today is Zhong Wu Mei’s mother’s birthday. He misses her. Lin Luo Jing comforts him that his mother will know he thinks of her and will be proud of him.

Emperor is dying. His child is too young. He passes the throne to Zhong Wu Mei. The Emperor’s last words are to warn him of everyone including Lin Luo Jing because of her relationship with Liu Xiu Wen.
Jin Chen is one step closer to annihilating Zhong family. Liu Xiu Wen tells him to stop, the Emperor is already dead, but Jin Chen wants to take all of Zhong family down.
The wedding Zhong Wu Mei promised Lin Luo Jing will have to be postponed. The wedding doesn’t matter to her. She won’t leave him either way.
[Ep20] Lin Luo Jing doesn’t have the proper title to enter the palace with Zhong Wu Mei. Instead he sends her letters. Being a modern girl, Lin Luo Jing can’t stand receiving a letter a day late. She’s too used to replying messages in seconds.
Lin Luo Jing sneaks back to the capital city but first she investigates into Liu Xiu Wen. She thinks he helped Jin Chen escape but she doesn’t have proof of it.
Yi Yi manipulates an ignorant Tang Meng to believe that Lin Luo Jing is stealing Jiang Xuan Yu.
Zhong Wu Mei throws a fit. Lin Luo Jun runs after him to explain. When she’s alone in his room, he grabs her in for a smooch. He silences her and takes her deeper in the room. He knows her. She wouldn’t sleep with another man. He’s also aware of her investigating into Liu Xiu Wen.
Zhong Wu Mei tells Lin Luo Jing her body has a pearl. It’s a pair with the one Zhong Wu Mei's sister owns. Once united, the pearls will grant the beholder a wish. It’s unknown how she can take the pearl out of her body though. It’s related to water.
To everyone else though, they continue their fight so that all the maids can hear. Outside they hear yelling but inside they’re hugging and smiling. Outside they hear him slapping her but inside they’re making high-fives.
[Ep22] Jin Chen opens up a teleport to the magical world and kidnaps Hua Yun Ying. He’s asking her about the pearl’s whereabouts. He had stolen Zhong Wu Mei’s (technically Princess Zi Yun’s).
Lin Luo Jing thinks crying on the night of a full moon is the way to get the pearl out of her body and so begins her noise-polluting cries. How is she still so pretty even when she’s pulling her mouth like that? By the way, the tears (that she barely manages to squeeze out) doesn’t work.
[Ep23] Lin Luo Jing has the jade that can summon Wen Ru Yu for help. She timely arrives to clear accusations towards Zhong Wu Mei for poisoning Qi Yu citizens. Wen Ru Yu is also getting married.
There will apparently be a big showdown. Zhong Wu Mei visits Lin Luo Jing to share one sweet night. There’s only one thing on his mind. She thinks he’s referring to politics but he’s wondering whether their first child will be a boy or a girl.

Jin Chen’s revenge targets expand to Liu Xiu Wen, Yi Yi and Lin Luo Jing. Huh. Guys, I’m actually not watching that closely anymore. Jin Chen captures both men who were trying to save Lin Luo Jing. He makes them engage in a death duel. The winner gets to save Lin Luo Jing. Liu Xiu Wen is under Jin Chen’s mind control and kills Zhong Wu Mei. Lin Luo Jing cries. His blood smears over her and that unseals the pearl in her body. Liu Xiu Wen is still under Jin Chen’s control to kill Lin Luo Jing. As a result Liu Xiu Wen kills himself to protect her.
Lin Luo Jing is back in her video game mode. Her bracelet allows her to reboot and return before everyone’s dead. The game asks her to choose Revenge or Revive (save). She chooses to save Jin Chen. She won’t be like Jin Chen choosing revenge.

[Ep26] Lin Luo Jing wakes up in the dungeon before the boys die for her. She learns that Jin Chen is the reincarnation of Hua Ying Ci’s master. Or something like that...
Liu Xiu Wen kisses Lin Luo Jing to give her the medication to her poison.
Lin Luo Jing gives Yi Yi the letter that details it was Jin Chen’s father who killed Qi Yu’s ancestors. Yi Yi shows the letter to Liu Xiu Wen. Revenge is resolved. Jin Chen is surrounded by all of Lin Luo Jing’s allies. He’s down.
Zhong Wu Mei gives one of the pearl to Liu Xin Wen to protect his country. He has another one for his own country. Before Liu Xiu Wen leaves, he asks if Lin Luo Jing can accompany him across the city one last time. Lin Luo Jing peeks at Zhong Wu Mei asking him if he wants to join. Zhong Wu Mei graciously approves of her alone time with Liu Xiu Wen.
Liu Xiu Wen still has the poison in him because he gave his medication to Lin Luo Jing. She assures Lin Luo Jing that his poison will easily be lifted with his country’s advanced medicine. Lin Luo Jing assures him that in a parallel world she may have chosen him. Will he die?
Zhong Wu Mei and Lin Luo Jing finally have a proper wedding. She gives her bouquet to Xi Que. She’s next to marry.
Tang Meng loses her memory. At least she’s happy with Jiang Xuan Yu.
Years later, Zhong Wu Mei and Lin Luo Jing have a son. Their first child is a son which is also Zhong Wu Mei’s new jealousy target. He sighs that he needs to have a daughter now to distract his son. His wish comes true. They have a daughter. Zhong Wu Mei smirks.
Three years later, they’re still happy. Xi Que is pregnant. Liu Xiu Wen sends her a letter asking her to meet up. Zhong Wu Mei approves of it. It’s Yi Yi who shows up and she tells her that Liu Xiu Wen went to a far place. She gives her the dagger and assures her he’s well.
A flashback tells us that Liu Xiu Wen kissed Yi Yi and that’s how he gives her back the medication. Liu Xiu Wen’s famous medicine kiss again. They spend a few years of happiness and then he dies on her shoulder.
Lin Luo Jing understands with the dagger that Liu Xiu Wen has passed away. She asks Zhong Wu Mei if he had known all along that Liu Xiu Wen didn’t have an antidote. He did. Ah, that’s why his jealously never activated when it came to Liu Xiu Wen.
Lin Luo Jing is back in the real world. She’s hired by 絕世千金 (Chinese title) corporation as a personal secretary of the CEO. Her first task is to give a document to her CEO who’s at this Japanese spa resort. She bumps into a staff who looks exactly like Xiao Yu. When she enters the CEO’s room, there’s a book covering the CEO’s face. All she sees are his defined abs. She tries her best not too peek. As she leaves, he smirks under the book. It’s Zhong Wu Mei ~
Lin Luo Jing arrives at the company. In the revolving doors she meets Liu Xiu Wen who’s the rival CEO of the company she’s now working for. He wants to hire her too but Jiang Xuan Yu protects her. He’s the manager of the same company as her. Jiang Xuan Yu takes her up to meet the CEO. On their way they bump into Hua Ying Ci who has a doctor degree in something. He’s looking good in modern clothes. Finally, the CEO appears. He calls her “Stupid Woman”. Before she replies, his lips are on her.
Remarks
[First Impression (Ep1-6)] As someone who is very skeptical of second seasons, this is pretty good! There's an engaging story from the start. Yes, it's another court conspiracy plot, yes it's overdone, but, hey, if it's told well, I'll be a good audience. Second season starts off where the first one ended so you do need to watch the first season. I thought I'd be bored of the chemistry that had already blossomed but our main characters are still cute together. I really like how the FL is even smarter here. She still has a special place in all the men’s heart with the exception of Hua Ying Chi who supposedly died in the first season but there seems to a new Hua Ying Chi... I also really want a proper closure to this video game. Please don't give me a level three or something like that.
[Actors/Actresses] Unique Lady was the first drama I've seen of Zhong Qiu Hong and Gong Jun and why I began to love them. Neither have had projects surpassing Unique Lady so I'm crossing my fingers for this one.

Final Review
[Review] It’s fresh in the beginning but loses steam in the middle. The plot is highly embroiled in palace conspiracy which becomes rather tedious. The video game plot made this drama unique but it is also my quibble. [Minor Spoiler] When plot gets bad, Lin Luo Jing has the ability to restart things. She also gets hints to arrive at a happy ending and timely magical items will randomly appear. It feels too easy, no? [/Sp] There isn’t that feeling of intensity; Lin Luo Jing will never lose with the video game changing things at her whim. Plot will suddenly change without logic. That is also the point of the video game.
I kept watching because I wanted to know what the ending would be for our couple. They’re still cute as ever with a ton of cheesy scenes between them. Their romance is resilient. Jealousy is their way of love; it’s petty but never serious because at the core of their relationship is unending trust. They’re the only reason I stayed.
As a fan of season one, I like the ending of season two. It’s a sweet wrap up of the entire series.
