[Ep1] Our male lead is Ye Fei Mo. He's a CEO who's never been in a relationship since his break-up with his ex, Han Hui. She's set to return to China and Mom can't let her son fall into the same pit. Immediately she sends a hot secretary to his side which he fires immediately. Next candidate is a pretty girl who "crashes" into his car but he cares more about his car.
Our female lead, Wen Xiao Nuan, is an actress who specializes in being splashed with water and kicked around. She's a bit part actress. Her boyfriend, Jiang Fang, cheats on her for someone who can help him with his career. Brokenhearted, Xiao Nuan gets drunk at the restaurant she had originally reserved to celebrate her (ex)boyfriend's new job. Instead she drunkly bumps into Ye Fei Mo. Well, not exactly "bump"...
She immediately goes in for a kiss thinking it was her ex. Normally, our CEO would push her away but he finds her familiar and their kiss lingers on. After she steals his kiss, he's completely speechless and watches her cry but then he's suddenly slapped in the face.
His buddy, Gu Yun Zhou, passes by the door and comments that she looks like Han Hui. But right now, they have more immediate matters to take care of and he drags him out of the restaurant. However, Ye Fei Mo is still curious about her. He goes back into the restaurant, room 5203, to find her but what's left of her is just the tie pin she had bought for her ex.
He's soooo curious about her, he instantaneously produces an ad of himself looking hot telling the entire world, "5203, I'm waiting for you." Pft. It makes headlines everywhere because he's a famous CEO who looks better than most famous actors. His Mom is astounded that his aloof son could pull such a stunt and immediately locates the girl. Mom has hopes that he can bring this girl to showoff to his ex (Han Hui) at her welcome gala.
Wen Xiao Nuan is your righteous girl who initially rejects Mom's offer but because of family issues, she needs money. She accepts Mom's request to make Ye Fei Mo fall in love her, or at least find a way to the gala as his girlfriend. And so she shows up as a nurse to care for the supposedly sick Ye Fei Mo.
[Ep2] Ye Fei Mo recognizes her immediately as his 5203. He closes in on her and (seductively) asks her where she's learned to spontaneously kiss people. However, when he learns there's no birthmark on her shoulder, his attitude reverts back the cold CEO and he kicks her out because she's not who he's looking for. Stranded outside Xiao Nuan racks her brain for ways to cruise back in to his home but she gets turned away at every corner. This drama made this trope really fun to watch. That suitcase scene was funny.
It starts pouring rain and Xiao Nuan is still wandering outside his home. Worried, Ye Fei Mo checks his surveillance cameras and catches her and Jiang Fang in front of his home. Jiang Fang tells her he didn't mean to cheat on her. He just wanted to give her an easier life by using another girl's money. O-kay. Xiao Nuan was slightly swayed by his love but when a phone call comes in from his new girlfriend she realizes she can't accept that reality. She sends him away. Ye Fei Mo goes out to find her but she's already gone. In the morning, he discovers her feverish right by his door. He takes her in and nurses her. She hugs his (oh so muscular) arm. I guess he's the real nurse in this episode. Somehow someway, the unconscious Xiao Nuan falls on top of him (the camera angles don't make any sense). Do they kiss again?
[Ep3] They don't kiss. A phone call comes in and to pick up the phone, he temporarily lays her head (and entire body) against his. He's melting a little faster than I thought. She tries to convince him that she can be his shield since his Mom was going to hire another girl to seduce him anyways. She just wants to complete the mission to get her money and he can get some peace and quiet. He declines but he did waver.
Xiao Nuan gets called to substitute for a small role. On set she meets Ling Er, the new bitchy girlfriend of her ex. Ling Er bullies her and Gu Yun Zhou updates Ye Fei Mo that his little nurse is being slapped for the nth time. She's quick-witted enough that by the tenth time she gets a small revenge on Ling Er. Ye Fei Mo sees this all unfold on the video call and smirks at his smart little nurse. He also helps her retaliate by retracting all his sponsorship for the movie if they continue to use Ling Er.
When Xiao Nuan returns home (uh, his home), she finds an ice pack prepared for her. She too captures his heart by making congee that perfectly suits his palette.
[Ep4] Although he's slowly melting under her warmth, he still puts on a show of coldness. His buddy, Gu Yun Zhou, comes to visit and Xiao Nuan gets a gay vibe from them which inspires her next move. She suits up like a guy to seduce him. She calls him "Xian Shen", a formal way to address a guy. However, it's her who gets surprised as he pulls her tie drawing her even closer. He tells her to repeat "Xian Shen" again until he's happy with it. He's trying to recall this girl's voice in his faded memories. I think I get it now. He's not interested in Xiao Nuan because she looks familiar to Han Hui. It's more like Han Hui looked like the girl in his jared memories. The girl he wants to remember is probably Xiao Nuan all along. He just can't fully remember her.
Ye Fei Mo and Jiang Fang are business rivals. They're having a video conference and YFM decides to get the upperhand by making Jiang Fang jealous. He purposely calls her "Wen Nuan" which means "warmth", but not regular warmth, it's a loving type of warmth. Wen Xiao Nuan has no idea he just used her. She's also clueless when she picks up Mom's call. She thought it was one of YFM's ex and starts listing all his faults. Hearing this, Mom seems to love WXN even more. I like Mom even more.
[Ep5] YFM sneakily eats too much of her (delicious) food and ends up being terribly sick from indigestion. He's got a poor digestive system because of his CEO-ness. One cannot barely eat and then suddenly overeat. That night, Wen Xiao Nuan finally nurses him, the job she was supposed to do in the first place. However, he doesn't want her care and purposely spills the medication. The caring Wen Xiao Nuan runs out in the rain to buy him the medication again. But she's being followed. Scared, she calls Ye Fei but he who doesn't pick up. Fortunately, he shows up just in time to save her. It was not by chance, he went out looking for her because he was worried on his own accord.
[Ep6] Ye Fei Mo has come down with a fever. He was so worried last night he didn't have time to grab an umbrella on his way out. Now he's so weak he can't even unbutton his own shirt leading to a very awkward moment of her trying to undress him without looking. Within the day, he gets better with her care; she's giving him good food and good entertainment (she sings for him). She also inspires him for his next movie production. Unconsciously, he charms her by simply thanking her for the inspiration. Feeling all fuzzy, Wen Xiao Nuan runs back in the house to control her butterflies.
The Ye-Fei-Mo-iceberg nearly melts. As per his friend's advice, Ye Fei Mo invites her to a thank you lunch made exclusively designed for her but there might a misunderstanding brewing that she's a spy for Jiang Fang.
[Ep7] Nope I take that back. There is no misunderstanding. Yei Fei Mo trusted Wen Xiao Nuan all along. Except it's her turn to be upset because Yei Fei Mo used her to make Jiang Fang fall into the trap. So the iceberg did melt, but the warmth has already cooled.
A worried Ye Fei Mo asks his mother where Wen Xiao Nuan could be. He searches the entire world for her (his words). When he finds her, he reminds her that today is the last day of their contract. If she still wants the money, she's got to be his partner for Han Hui's welcome gala. Here comes the beauty makeover scene where he sits and observes all her dress changes. I actually found her prettier before the makeup. I'm so used to these makeover scenes but these two are so natural, I find myself offering up a laugh here and there.
The last piece to complete Wen Xiao Nuan's look is an expensive necklace. It's not just any necklace, it has a name: Rose Tears. It's the Ye family's precious heirloom that only the wife of Ye CEO can wear. Mom isn't physically there but her eyes are everywhere. She receives a photo of WXN in the necklace and she happily approves. This makes me wonder how nasty Han Hui was for Mom to be so disapproving.
[Ep8] At the gala, Ye Fei Mo protects Wen Xiao Nuan from a drunkard by calling her his fiancée. There was a moment I thought he was jealous because of Han Hui. But nope. It's because he saw the tie pin on Jiang Fang. He was jealous because of Wen Xiao Nuan.
A jealous Han Hui makes her way to Wen Xiao Nuan who's clueless to her motives. Ye Fei Mo shows up to safeguard his fiancée once again. He gives Han Hui the cold shoulder but she seems determined he still loves her. I don't understand why she thinks that when it's so obvious he's over her. I see the butterfly birthmark on her shoulder. It's probably that birthmark that made him think Han Hui was the girl in his memories.
Ling Er, the other jealous girl, pushes Wen Xiao Nuan into the pool. The one man who comes to her rescue is none other than Ye Fei Mo. Somehow, WXN also scores a leading role in the movie of her favourite director, Li Can.
[Ep9] YFM is playing the perfect boyfriend card: sweet words, sweet kiss, and sweetly carries her out of embarrassment. It's almost perfect until this idiot gets angry at her because he's still jealous about the tie pin. WXN storms off and leaves his home but she forgets to return him the Rose Tears.
Secondary love line: Gu Yun Zhou had fallen in love at first sight with Wang Jia Yi. She's bestie's with Wen Xiao Nuan. The way he's trying to win her over is ridiculously laughable. Gu Yan Zhou, who's an executive, pretends to be a waiter, a driver, and an orphan to feign pity. Seems like Wang Jia Yi is allergic to rich men.
[Ep10] Gu Yun Zhou is now a hairstylist for Wang Jia Yi. It felt like a horror movie watching him cut her hair. He's also working as a spy for Ye Fei Mo to gather information on Wen Xiao Nuan. Wang Jia Yi is also a cupid; she sends WXN's resume to YFM's company. Now YFM finally has a reason to see her. He personally waits at her door to give her the S level contract which is reserved for top tier actors. But she doesn't want it because she doesn't want to see him.
[Ep11] Ye Fei Mo had sat their speechlessly but that doesn't mean he didn't have a plan. He moves in to the condo right above hers. This speed of events. As expected of a CEO of his calibre. With him living upstairs, the Chinese title makes sense now. His buddy, Gu Yun Zhou, much like YFM, is crazy in love and disguises as a driver to attend Wang Jia Yi's friendly hotpot dinner. YFM gets jealous not knowing it was his buddy at the hotpot and organizes a house party of his own just to disturb WXN's beauty sleep. It's quite sad YFM has to hire people to attend his house party. Gu Yun Zhou also has quite the pitiful dance moves. He's cute.
[Ep12] Ye Fei Mo succeeds in signing WXN to his S contract. It's all thanks to WXN's brother who's in another hefty debt. This brother of hers shamelessly clings onto YFM as his brother-in-law. YFM doesn't exactly hate it though. He now has the chance to see WXN whenever he wants with a legit reason. He oversees the assessment of her flexibility to her body measurements to her body temperature. He gets called out by others for sneakily visiting WXN for the fifth time. When he resorts to phoning her instead the call is picked up by Zhou Xiao Jing (mom's favourite secretary who is now WXN's manager). Under his orders, WXN's phone is confiscated during training time. When he wants to treat her dinner, she tells him she has to diet. All the rules he set on her has backfired on him. Except one. He had ordered WXN to send night time selfies of herself to prove she is asleep by 11pm which has allowed him to indulge in countless selfies of her in all sorts of expression he wants.
[Ep13] The chess pieces are finally in YFM's favour. WXN asks YFM if she can ride in his car because she can't be late for training. That earns a winning smirk from YFM. He drops her off right in front of the company (as if forgetting he's the holy CEO of the company). Afraid of rumours, WXN dodges everyone's sights but it's all in vain as his secretary opens the door for everyone to see. As rumours start to fly, she also coincidentally lands a leading lady role with the help of her capable manager, Zhou Xiao Jing.
The rumour mill travels to YFM and he finally realizes it's bad for WXN's reputation (duh) and so he makes a condition that's nearly impossible to fulfill in order for WXN to nab the leading lady role. WXN, as a newbie, needs to achieve the same level of rating as the original leading lady in their premiere teaser. Zhou Xiao Jing, our smart duck proposes a kiss scene with a hot actor to increase rating. Everyone agrees. The logical YFM cannot disagree no matter how much he hates that idea. Mom, the amazing saviour, sees through his son's deep desires and suggests that there's no better actor than her own son. YFM, who's putting on a poker face, calmly approves. LOL. What is this absurdity? A CEO standing in as the male lead? But why am I grinning.
By the way Gu Yun Zhou is now masquerading as a mascot. The lengths this guy will go for the girl he loves... The men in this drama...I love them.
[Ep14] There's more lovable absurdity to follow. After hearing from Gu Yun Zhou how the heels are killing their girls, it inspires YFM to buy a pair of comfortable sneakers for WXN. He also sheepishly buys a pair for himself to match with hers. Except there are rules that all actresses under his company are to wear heels. He's dying with regret but he's determined to make her wear his sneakers. This guy went as far as to create a flood to make WXN take off her heels.
He drives her to work and there's conveniently a pair of sneakers next to her. However she refuses to wear them. Left with no choice he pulls over, opens her car door, and reaches for the pair of sneakers (in a glass box). They're uncomfortably close for her and WXN closes her eyes. She's apparently waiting for something (a kiss) but Ye Fei Mo just wanted to put on the shoes for her. Where are the socks? Before being dropped off, WXN has a request for YFM: she wants to be dropped off somewhere more obscure. YFM obliges. If you think rumours are deferred that way, you're so wrong. He brazenly wears the couple sneaker to the set as her male lead.
The kiss scene commences. Exasperated at her male lead, WXN has one more trick up her sleeve. She ate a ton of stench-y food (garlic and durian) just to prepare for the kiss scene. She blows her oh so sweet breath at YFM who's literally dying from kissing her.
But how can our male lead miss such a sweet chance to kiss her? Any kiss is a sweet kiss.
[Ep15] Their teaser clip is a booming success. WXN's coworkers celebrate her success as well as her birthday. YFM doesn't know about this. He secretly plans for her birthday, even hand-making a birthday card. The designs are quite pretty and creative but he's displeased with all his drafts and settles on a traditional bouquet instead. He shows up at WXN's door only to walk in on her house party with her coworkers. A coworker asks him to stay out of politeness and YFM is quick to accept to everyone's dismay. They play a game and YFM has to answer which kisses he found to taste the most beautiful and the most unforgettable. He reveals the most beautiful one was the taste of the ocean and the most unforgettable one is the taste of garlic. They're both with WXN.
Second couple: Jia Yi knew of GYZ lies all along. Ah nice, show, She's not dumb. She's just waiting for him to tell her the truth himself. However, GYZ disappoints and continues to lie. This time he's a bodyguard.
[Ep16] WXN's ex-boyfriend and YFM's ex-girlfriend are up to no good. Now the movie has no male lead. WXN is feeling the pressure. She doesn't want to disappoint everyone (including YFM) so she trains extra hard for her role, hard enough that she faints over. Everyone's worried for her. The manager, Zhou Xiao Jing, and GYZ confront YFM whether he truly cares about WXN or he's using her as Han Hui's substitute. YFM had wavered but resolutely answers GYZ they're different.
[Ep17] YFM's mom is totally team WXN. She invites WXN to the dinner meeting with Han Hui. It's a face off of four powerful women along with Zhou Xiao Jing. Mom and manager team up against Han Hui and it's relishing. Also, they left behind a very distraught YFM.
Second couple: GYZ confesses the truth to Jia Yi. To his delight, she accepts him. And he rubs it in to a very displeased YFM.
[Ep18] Mom deliberately shows off her new future daughter-in-law in front of Han Hui. It's gratifying. Our demure "Nuan Nuan" plays along. Resentful, Han Hui takes it out on WXN when she's alone in the parking lot but the final winner of their little dispute is WXN. This scene has two very proud on-lookers: Mom and YFM. Mom informs YFM she's resolute on this daughter-in-law. Hearing that, YFM smiles and drives up to pick up his future fiancée.
[Ep19] There's a scandal between HH and YFM. WXN's gloomy mood should be a very telling sign to YFM that she's jealous but that gets overlooked because he has to clean up the scandal first. Even if there's a scandal, I'm excited that it's more of a stimulus for more cuteness to come.
[Ep20] YFM realizes he's uncontrollably in love with WXN. Only now he's realized it... Meanwhile WXN is also facing her true feelings. She likes YFM. When she's rambling on about his cons, all her memories of him were sweet. She says he's a picky eater but she remembers him happily gulping down all her food. She says he's not caring at all but she remembers him at her bedside when she was sick. He also cooked for her. When was that? This entire episode WXN is giving him the cold shoulder. He's asking everyone and anything for advice. GYZ has his own problems (he shot his own foot) and can't help him anymore. Online friends don't get it right, or too right and expose him for not having a girlfriend (yet) because his emotional problems just don't make sense. Heh. By the way, this boy is so deprived of love in his life that her being angry at him makes him elated.
[Ep21] YFM seeks advice from his secretary for a "friend" who's made his "girlfriend" angry but he refuses all her advices especially when she tells him to switch the girlfriend to solve all his problem. He does take this advice: give her a sense of security. Thus, YFM kidnaps her. He takes her to a dark woody place and scares her. Security? She calls him a bully. He retaliates, she's the one who's avoiding and ignoring him. He then guides her to this beautiful boat he had decorated on the lake. Yikes, that CG, ha.
On the boat he tells her he always believed her as an actress for his movie and now it's her turn to believe him about Han Hui. He lights up a sky lantern. Through the lantern, she peeks at him and so does he. Ah, love is reciprocated. They release the lantern and make their wish. She fell asleep and woke up in the morning in his arms; they had spent the whole night together. In the car ride back he tells her filming will begin soon which means she'll be busy. He orders her to give him a selfie everyday. She requests the same of him.
[Ep22] Han Hui's visit to the set as YFM's rumour girlfriend is curtailed by his public rejection of her so she intentionally injures WXN instead. Luckily Mo Xiao Bai is at the right place and right time to mitigate the physical damage. Subsequently, rumours are flying about WXN and a mysterious man on the set (MXB). Mo Xiao Bai is a top, top star who will be the male lead for the movie and he's also YFM's cousin. I don't get why Han Hui can be so delusional when she gets a cold shoulder from YFM every time.
WXN wakes up from her injury. YFM spoon-feeds her soup but it's hot and she tells him to blow on it. She meant the soup, he thought she meant her lips. Ahh, you can misunderstand it that way, lol. WXN blushingly hides underneath her blanket. When Jia Yi visits her, she asks her, "do you think he (YFM) likes me a tiny tiny bit?" Thankfully, Jia Yi is smarter than her and asks her back, "so you like him?"
Second couple: I think Jia Yi is rightfully mad at GYZ
Third couple: The director, Li Can, is slowly approaching his Zhou Xiao Jing. He's also supporting his buddy, YFM, and assures Xiao Jing that YFM never took WXN as Han Hui's substitute.
[Ep23] YFM visits WXN at the hospital and deliberately knocks over the bouquet Jiang Fang gave her. Jiang Fang had taunted YFM that he knows nothing about WXN. Thus begins YFM's study session of her which looks more like she's being quizzed about herself. You can tell YFM was a studious boy.
Second couple: GYZ saves Jia Yi who's almost raped.
Bickering couple: Mo Xiao Bai & WXN's brother.
[Ep24] Gu Yun Zhao is looking handsome while fighting the gangsters who almost raped Jia Yi. There's too many men against one so Jia Yi comes to rescue her prince and the two kiss to make up. While these two are together again, YFM and WXN are still not "official".
The last scene left to film for the movie is the wedding one. WXN stuns in a traditional wedding dress. There's a confession line in the movie in which she stares at YFM when she delivers it. Soooo that's an indirect confession from her?
Third couple: Li Can and Zhou Xiao Jing are together. He secretly holds her hands and she doesn't shake him away.
[Ep25] And here comes YFM's confession. They're playing truth and dare at the celebration dinner. YFM is dared to confess to the first person he last contacted. It's WXN. However, he chickens out. Instead he tells her to drink less. Obviously she doesn't listen and he ends up piggybacking her home. There's no confession tonight to everyone's dismay.
YFM needs one last push and who better to do it than his mom. Mom purposely uses Mo Xiao Bai (who willingly accepts being used) to make YFM jealous. It works like a charm. Team Mom and Mo Xiao Bai high five each other. YFM grabs WXN in for a kiss and then confesses. WXN is so happy, she runs away... Next morning, he waits in front of her condo prepped in a cool pose to take her to work but she already left for a business trip and won't be back for an entire month. So a confession happened that night but they're already in a long distance relationship. Good start.
[Ep26*] WXN is back from her month long trip and gets her first paycheck. Money was the reason she left: she wanted to pay back her debt. YFM is exhilarated to see her but he's suppressing it. I mean, what is a man to think when the girl he just confessed to ran away for a month and comes back clearing their relationship with money. And thus begins her arc of seducing him back. She's giving him the sexy look but he thinks she needs a health checkup. She's pretending to meet him coincidentally by his car but he thinks it's the perfect opportunity for her to be his chauffeur. Worst decision ever to let her drive.
He knows what she wants. He's just throwing a tantrum at her for leaving him. She waits for him inside his condo (it's a little creepy tbh) and confesses she's trying to pursue him. She's clearing the debt not because she wants to cut ties but because she wants to be his equal. The naughty YFM pushes her away because he wants to relish the feeling of being pursued by her. Luckily his buddy GYZ reminds him not to drag this out because poor little WXN can't handle that much heartbreak. Later that night, YFM romantically confesses once again. The card he made for her birthday didn't go to waste. With no more time left to waste, these two are finally official. That elevator hand holding scene is cute. The background OST when he's picking her up for work and the lyrics keep repeating "Meng Meng De" matches them perfectly. So endearingly "adorable".
[Ep27] Although they're official, they're a secret to the public. YFM is more than happy to reveal it but WXN is still a rising star. The first day they're official she's already upset at how popular he is. But then she's easily appeased and slips a note in his pocket telling him she misses him. He's also easily appeased with a kiss on the cheek.
Third couple: It's Zhou Xiao Jing's birthday. She was celebrating it alone until Li Can gives her a cute birthday surprise. Why is she celebrating it alone anyways?
[Ep28] YFM and WXN are cute when they're dating but also serious when their working. To increase sales for their movie, WXN and YFM release a cute video of her singing the traditional Chinese song that's in their movie. The viral video is cute.
[Ep29] Once her movie does well, WXN's "scandalous" affair with YFM hits the tabloids. The culprit isn't Han Hui exactly, but she did motivate Ling Er to do the deed. There's one good thing though: their relationship is no longer a secret.
Cute bucket list: 1) YFM sends an order down to not have anyone call her Mrs. Ye which WXN initially agrees to but then instantly regrets and then remembers to be modest. 2) He kneels down and ties her shoelaces for her. I like that the secretary smiled at this. I did doubt her for the longest time if she would turn evil.
Third couple: Li Can has liked her for ten years. Wow. Although she's more mature of the three ladies in this drama, I like her quite a bit.
[Ep30] It's the first official meeting with Mom for WXN as YFM's girlfriend. But mom is five steps ahead of them. Mom has long seen her as his girlfriend; this meeting is to discuss their wedding. Lol. They're having dinner and Mom is heavily discriminating against his son to praise her lovely daughter-in-law. This makes him question whether he was adopted. Heh.
WXN has a new acting project she wants. However, YFM and Zhou Xiao Jing are against it. Firstly it's a project hemmed by Jiang Fang. Secondly, the other leading lady is Han Hui. I totally want her to take his project and shove these two idiots squarely in the face.
Second couple: Jia Yi is living the life of your typical Cinderella lead. She gets the evil mom treatment and the pitiful background. To not hinder GYZ, she sacrifices herself and breaks up with him.
[Ep31] YFM reluctantly permits WXN to accept the acting project but on one condition: she must accept his bodyguards. He's serious about protecting her. Because of this, Han Hui has one upped her by appearing to be the damsel to the heavily armed WXN. This episode feels like the peace before the storm. YFM is planning to propose but you can sense there's going to be hardships along the way.
[Ep32] Through this new acting role, WXN realizes she's a substitute for someone else who YFM loves. She thinks she's Han Hui's substitute. The lines from WXN and Han Hui becomes lines of their own lives. During filming Han Hui slaps her for stealing his man. I love that WXN retaliates and slaps her back. The filming ends but WXN is still stuck in her role. This was Han Hui's motive all along.
And then the inevitable trope happens. YFM gets a questionable health result: he might have stomach cancer. He conveniently uses Han Hui to confirm WXN's suspicions that she indeed is a substitute. He doesn't want his true love, WXN, to suffer together with him. WXN's heart is shattered to pieces. They break up.
[Ep33] It requires WXN's ex-ex-boyfriend to knock some common sense to WXN's ex-boyfriend (YFM). WXN is a simple girl; all she wants is to spend time with the one she loves. YFM is not the one to decide what she wants for her. Jiang Fang has come to his sense after being literally knocked to his own.

[Ep35] WXN has won the best actress award. Han Hui had taunted her that they're both substitutes to this one girl YFM cannot forget. Even if it is true, WXN isn't one bit fazed because she believes she's not a substitute to anyone. WXN is truly the winner. She also gets the chance to film in France with a top notch director. Unlike Han Hui, WXN gets well wishes from her manager and YFM. There's two more days until her year-long departure.
[Ep36] YFM is at work but rushes to end the meeting because the time remaining with WXN is too precious to waste. Li Can laughs at YFM until he updates the director that his beloved Zhou Xiao Jing is set to fly to France too. Upon learning this fact, he spontaneously proposes. Second couple is a done deal.
Through Zhou Xiao Jing, WXN learns that YFM has specially custom designed a proposal ring for her but because of the cancer trope he never went to pick it up. WXN inquires about the ring and the associate tells her if she tries on the ring she'll know if it was for her. And voila, it's a perfect fit. Wouldn't it be super awkward for the associate if it didn't? The design of the ring is based on one motif: the purest love.
It's the day WXN has flown to France. His "warmth" has left him. YFM wanders aimlessly before arriving back to his original home (the one from the beginning of the drama). He's turning on the light to his dark and empty home but finds that it's decorated with flower petals and candles. In his backyard there's a large present box and a note that's from WXN: "Ye Fei Mo, please sign (accept)." He smiles. Suddenly the present bursts open on its own and out comes WXN. She's truly found a way into his home and now into his heart. I'm referring to the first few episodes how she tried to repeatedly sneak into his home. She kneels down and breathes nervously. In her hands is the ring he designed for her. Her voice is stuck at her throat. She almost cries when she reveals she's practiced all day for her lines but can't say them. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
He smiles and kneels down too. He tells her that this proposal should be his to give her. He tells her it's her warmth that has melted his ice-cold heart. She accepts his ring and they kiss to seal the deal.
WXN and YFM are having a wedding pictorial. He accidentally falls into the water and she jumps in to save him. She used to be a life guard. She gives him CPR and with that he finally remembers she was the one who saved him. Now all the puzzle pieces fit perfectly together.
[First Impression (Ep 1-8)]: Ahh~ here's my typical enjoyable rom-com. Such a breeze. By Episode 3 her scheme to make him fall in love is already plain obvious. Phew, there isn't that annoying trope of him misunderstanding her intentions. From hereon I expect to laugh here and there and to be wooed by Ye Fei Mo. Yum.
[Character Names]: You'll notice I'll say "warmth" a lot and it's because of the female lead's name "Wen Xiao Nuan". "Nuan" itself means warm. "Wen Nuan" describes a warmth that's loving, that warms you right to the heart. Hence, YFM often calls her Wen Nuan, the perfect warmth to his cold heart.
[Actors&Actresses]: Ye Fei Mo's role looks like a piece of cake for Wang Guan Yi. Such ease for natural coolness to ooze from him. Loved him and Jiang Zi Xin in The Story of Yan Xi Palace. Where is Jiang Zi Xin anyways? I digressed. Xu Hao looks familiar; I've seen her in a few different dramas but her roles have not been memorable. So far I like her here. She's not annoying yet, heh. [Update] She never gets annoying.
[By Episodes 13&14]: This is ridiculously good. Each episode grows more preposterous than the previous. He's so in love with her and does the dumbest things in the dumbest way but I still love it. I was going to brush aside Gu Yun Zhou's love line but he's too cute.
[Behind the Scenes] There’s a romantic scene where she uses her finger to trace his facial features while he’s asleep. I saw an NG scene of this and it was hilarious. The director had to call cut because her finger was hairy. Hahaha. In the middle of shooting a staff member had to pluck it for her. She whines that it’s just one hair and it’s not even black. From then on she gets teased by it every now and then (by Wang Guan Yi).
[Review]: Hackneyed premise yet it knows how to be fresh. No where in the middle did it lose the cute. That’s truly a feat. As the drama approaches its ending there’s still character growth that’s appreciated. There are unbelievably 2D characters, ahem Mom, but it’s the drama’s way of curtailing annoying tropes. It's awfully ridiculous at times and that makes it awfully good. The drama knows it’s supposed to be cute and stress-free and on that report it deserves an A+++. I like it particularly because it took a simple storyline and made it endearing. The actors and actresses treated this project with sincerity and it translates on screen.

Her boyfriend, Jiang Fang, cheats on her for someone who can help him with his career. Brokenhearted, Xiao Nuan gets drunk at the restaurant she had originally reserved to celebrate her (ex)boyfriend's new job. Instead she drunkly bumps into Ye Fei Mo. Well, not exactly "bump"...
His buddy, Gu Yun Zhou, passes by the door and comments that she looks like Han Hui. But right now, they have more immediate matters to take care of and he drags him out of the restaurant. However, Ye Fei Mo is still curious about her. He goes back into the restaurant, room 5203, to find her but what's left of her is just the tie pin she had bought for her ex.
He's soooo curious about her, he instantaneously produces an ad of himself looking hot telling the entire world, "5203, I'm waiting for you." Pft. It makes headlines everywhere because he's a famous CEO who looks better than most famous actors. His Mom is astounded that his aloof son could pull such a stunt and immediately locates the girl. Mom has hopes that he can bring this girl to showoff to his ex (Han Hui) at her welcome gala.
[Ep2] Ye Fei Mo recognizes her immediately as his 5203. He closes in on her and (seductively) asks her where she's learned to spontaneously kiss people. However, when he learns there's no birthmark on her shoulder, his attitude reverts back the cold CEO and he kicks her out because she's not who he's looking for. Stranded outside Xiao Nuan racks her brain for ways to cruise back in to his home but she gets turned away at every corner. This drama made this trope really fun to watch. That suitcase scene was funny.
Xiao Nuan gets called to substitute for a small role. On set she meets Ling Er, the new bitchy girlfriend of her ex. Ling Er bullies her and Gu Yun Zhou updates Ye Fei Mo that his little nurse is being slapped for the nth time. She's quick-witted enough that by the tenth time she gets a small revenge on Ling Er. Ye Fei Mo sees this all unfold on the video call and smirks at his smart little nurse. He also helps her retaliate by retracting all his sponsorship for the movie if they continue to use Ling Er.
Ye Fei Mo and Jiang Fang are business rivals. They're having a video conference and YFM decides to get the upperhand by making Jiang Fang jealous. He purposely calls her "Wen Nuan" which means "warmth", but not regular warmth, it's a loving type of warmth. Wen Xiao Nuan has no idea he just used her. She's also clueless when she picks up Mom's call. She thought it was one of YFM's ex and starts listing all his faults. Hearing this, Mom seems to love WXN even more. I like Mom even more.
[Ep7] Nope I take that back. There is no misunderstanding. Yei Fei Mo trusted Wen Xiao Nuan all along. Except it's her turn to be upset because Yei Fei Mo used her to make Jiang Fang fall into the trap. So the iceberg did melt, but the warmth has already cooled.

The last piece to complete Wen Xiao Nuan's look is an expensive necklace. It's not just any necklace, it has a name: Rose Tears. It's the Ye family's precious heirloom that only the wife of Ye CEO can wear. Mom isn't physically there but her eyes are everywhere. She receives a photo of WXN in the necklace and she happily approves. This makes me wonder how nasty Han Hui was for Mom to be so disapproving.
[Ep8] At the gala, Ye Fei Mo protects Wen Xiao Nuan from a drunkard by calling her his fiancée. There was a moment I thought he was jealous because of Han Hui. But nope. It's because he saw the tie pin on Jiang Fang. He was jealous because of Wen Xiao Nuan.

[Ep9] YFM is playing the perfect boyfriend card: sweet words, sweet kiss, and sweetly carries her out of embarrassment. It's almost perfect until this idiot gets angry at her because he's still jealous about the tie pin. WXN storms off and leaves his home but she forgets to return him the Rose Tears.
Secondary love line: Gu Yun Zhou had fallen in love at first sight with Wang Jia Yi. She's bestie's with Wen Xiao Nuan. The way he's trying to win her over is ridiculously laughable. Gu Yan Zhou, who's an executive, pretends to be a waiter, a driver, and an orphan to feign pity. Seems like Wang Jia Yi is allergic to rich men.
[Ep10] Gu Yun Zhou is now a hairstylist for Wang Jia Yi. It felt like a horror movie watching him cut her hair. He's also working as a spy for Ye Fei Mo to gather information on Wen Xiao Nuan. Wang Jia Yi is also a cupid; she sends WXN's resume to YFM's company. Now YFM finally has a reason to see her. He personally waits at her door to give her the S level contract which is reserved for top tier actors. But she doesn't want it because she doesn't want to see him.
YFM: Because you didn't want to see me, you let others return the Rose Tears to me? Do you not know how precious it is? Why didn't you personally return it?YFM denies it and tells her to focus on the business but she's more feelings than logic anyways. WXN is so much more generous with her apologies. She apologizes for not thanking him properly for helping her complete her mission and for not personally returning the necklace. And the boy just sits there speechless.
WXN: If it's that precious, why didn't you personally retrieve it?
YFM taps impatiently at the table.
WXN smirks: Ye Fei Mo. Are you trying to apologize to me?
[Ep11] Ye Fei Mo had sat their speechlessly but that doesn't mean he didn't have a plan. He moves in to the condo right above hers. This speed of events. As expected of a CEO of his calibre. With him living upstairs, the Chinese title makes sense now. His buddy, Gu Yun Zhou, much like YFM, is crazy in love and disguises as a driver to attend Wang Jia Yi's friendly hotpot dinner. YFM gets jealous not knowing it was his buddy at the hotpot and organizes a house party of his own just to disturb WXN's beauty sleep. It's quite sad YFM has to hire people to attend his house party. Gu Yun Zhou also has quite the pitiful dance moves. He's cute.
The rumour mill travels to YFM and he finally realizes it's bad for WXN's reputation (duh) and so he makes a condition that's nearly impossible to fulfill in order for WXN to nab the leading lady role. WXN, as a newbie, needs to achieve the same level of rating as the original leading lady in their premiere teaser. Zhou Xiao Jing, our smart duck proposes a kiss scene with a hot actor to increase rating. Everyone agrees. The logical YFM cannot disagree no matter how much he hates that idea. Mom, the amazing saviour, sees through his son's deep desires and suggests that there's no better actor than her own son. YFM, who's putting on a poker face, calmly approves. LOL. What is this absurdity? A CEO standing in as the male lead? But why am I grinning.
By the way Gu Yun Zhou is now masquerading as a mascot. The lengths this guy will go for the girl he loves... The men in this drama...I love them.
[Ep15] Their teaser clip is a booming success. WXN's coworkers celebrate her success as well as her birthday. YFM doesn't know about this. He secretly plans for her birthday, even hand-making a birthday card. The designs are quite pretty and creative but he's displeased with all his drafts and settles on a traditional bouquet instead. He shows up at WXN's door only to walk in on her house party with her coworkers. A coworker asks him to stay out of politeness and YFM is quick to accept to everyone's dismay. They play a game and YFM has to answer which kisses he found to taste the most beautiful and the most unforgettable. He reveals the most beautiful one was the taste of the ocean and the most unforgettable one is the taste of garlic. They're both with WXN.
Second couple: Jia Yi knew of GYZ lies all along. Ah nice, show, She's not dumb. She's just waiting for him to tell her the truth himself. However, GYZ disappoints and continues to lie. This time he's a bodyguard.
[Ep17] YFM's mom is totally team WXN. She invites WXN to the dinner meeting with Han Hui. It's a face off of four powerful women along with Zhou Xiao Jing. Mom and manager team up against Han Hui and it's relishing. Also, they left behind a very distraught YFM.
Second couple: GYZ confesses the truth to Jia Yi. To his delight, she accepts him. And he rubs it in to a very displeased YFM.
[Ep18] Mom deliberately shows off her new future daughter-in-law in front of Han Hui. It's gratifying. Our demure "Nuan Nuan" plays along. Resentful, Han Hui takes it out on WXN when she's alone in the parking lot but the final winner of their little dispute is WXN. This scene has two very proud on-lookers: Mom and YFM. Mom informs YFM she's resolute on this daughter-in-law. Hearing that, YFM smiles and drives up to pick up his future fiancée.
[Ep19] There's a scandal between HH and YFM. WXN's gloomy mood should be a very telling sign to YFM that she's jealous but that gets overlooked because he has to clean up the scandal first. Even if there's a scandal, I'm excited that it's more of a stimulus for more cuteness to come.
[Ep20] YFM realizes he's uncontrollably in love with WXN. Only now he's realized it... Meanwhile WXN is also facing her true feelings. She likes YFM. When she's rambling on about his cons, all her memories of him were sweet. She says he's a picky eater but she remembers him happily gulping down all her food. She says he's not caring at all but she remembers him at her bedside when she was sick. He also cooked for her. When was that? This entire episode WXN is giving him the cold shoulder. He's asking everyone and anything for advice. GYZ has his own problems (he shot his own foot) and can't help him anymore. Online friends don't get it right, or too right and expose him for not having a girlfriend (yet) because his emotional problems just don't make sense. Heh. By the way, this boy is so deprived of love in his life that her being angry at him makes him elated.
[Ep21] YFM seeks advice from his secretary for a "friend" who's made his "girlfriend" angry but he refuses all her advices especially when she tells him to switch the girlfriend to solve all his problem. He does take this advice: give her a sense of security. Thus, YFM kidnaps her. He takes her to a dark woody place and scares her. Security? She calls him a bully. He retaliates, she's the one who's avoiding and ignoring him. He then guides her to this beautiful boat he had decorated on the lake. Yikes, that CG, ha.
YFM: Why? - serious cold face -As requested, she sends him a cute clip of herself and asks him for his. YFM is embarrassingly caught by his secretary for taking too many selfies that he doesn't send any of them.
WXN: You're face is so cold it'll cool down any heat stroke (when I'm filming) - fans her hot blushing face -
[Ep22] Han Hui's visit to the set as YFM's rumour girlfriend is curtailed by his public rejection of her so she intentionally injures WXN instead. Luckily Mo Xiao Bai is at the right place and right time to mitigate the physical damage. Subsequently, rumours are flying about WXN and a mysterious man on the set (MXB). Mo Xiao Bai is a top, top star who will be the male lead for the movie and he's also YFM's cousin. I don't get why Han Hui can be so delusional when she gets a cold shoulder from YFM every time.
WXN wakes up from her injury. YFM spoon-feeds her soup but it's hot and she tells him to blow on it. She meant the soup, he thought she meant her lips. Ahh, you can misunderstand it that way, lol. WXN blushingly hides underneath her blanket. When Jia Yi visits her, she asks her, "do you think he (YFM) likes me a tiny tiny bit?" Thankfully, Jia Yi is smarter than her and asks her back, "so you like him?"
Second couple: I think Jia Yi is rightfully mad at GYZ
Third couple: The director, Li Can, is slowly approaching his Zhou Xiao Jing. He's also supporting his buddy, YFM, and assures Xiao Jing that YFM never took WXN as Han Hui's substitute.
[Ep23] YFM visits WXN at the hospital and deliberately knocks over the bouquet Jiang Fang gave her. Jiang Fang had taunted YFM that he knows nothing about WXN. Thus begins YFM's study session of her which looks more like she's being quizzed about herself. You can tell YFM was a studious boy.
YFM: What do you like?Mo Xiao Bai and WXN's brother visit her as well. It's funny how her brother has already accepted YFM as his future brother-in-law and Mo Xiao Bai has already accepted WXN as his cousin-in-law when our two main leads aren't even "official". The unofficial boyfriend, YFM, is sweetly shelling her favourite food, spicy miniature lobsters, and feeding it to her while teasing her. Totally, not together. They're apparently missing that official confession for them to be official.
WXN answers without thinking: You. It was too fast for YFM to hear. Apparently.
YFM: What don't you like?
WXN: Alpha males. Ahem, also him.
Second couple: GYZ saves Jia Yi who's almost raped.
Bickering couple: Mo Xiao Bai & WXN's brother.
The last scene left to film for the movie is the wedding one. WXN stuns in a traditional wedding dress. There's a confession line in the movie in which she stares at YFM when she delivers it. Soooo that's an indirect confession from her?
Third couple: Li Can and Zhou Xiao Jing are together. He secretly holds her hands and she doesn't shake him away.
[Ep25] And here comes YFM's confession. They're playing truth and dare at the celebration dinner. YFM is dared to confess to the first person he last contacted. It's WXN. However, he chickens out. Instead he tells her to drink less. Obviously she doesn't listen and he ends up piggybacking her home. There's no confession tonight to everyone's dismay.
YFM needs one last push and who better to do it than his mom. Mom purposely uses Mo Xiao Bai (who willingly accepts being used) to make YFM jealous. It works like a charm. Team Mom and Mo Xiao Bai high five each other. YFM grabs WXN in for a kiss and then confesses. WXN is so happy, she runs away... Next morning, he waits in front of her condo prepped in a cool pose to take her to work but she already left for a business trip and won't be back for an entire month. So a confession happened that night but they're already in a long distance relationship. Good start.
[Ep26*] WXN is back from her month long trip and gets her first paycheck. Money was the reason she left: she wanted to pay back her debt. YFM is exhilarated to see her but he's suppressing it. I mean, what is a man to think when the girl he just confessed to ran away for a month and comes back clearing their relationship with money. And thus begins her arc of seducing him back. She's giving him the sexy look but he thinks she needs a health checkup. She's pretending to meet him coincidentally by his car but he thinks it's the perfect opportunity for her to be his chauffeur. Worst decision ever to let her drive.
He knows what she wants. He's just throwing a tantrum at her for leaving him. She waits for him inside his condo (it's a little creepy tbh) and confesses she's trying to pursue him. She's clearing the debt not because she wants to cut ties but because she wants to be his equal. The naughty YFM pushes her away because he wants to relish the feeling of being pursued by her. Luckily his buddy GYZ reminds him not to drag this out because poor little WXN can't handle that much heartbreak. Later that night, YFM romantically confesses once again. The card he made for her birthday didn't go to waste. With no more time left to waste, these two are finally official. That elevator hand holding scene is cute. The background OST when he's picking her up for work and the lyrics keep repeating "Meng Meng De" matches them perfectly. So endearingly "adorable".
Third couple: It's Zhou Xiao Jing's birthday. She was celebrating it alone until Li Can gives her a cute birthday surprise. Why is she celebrating it alone anyways?
[Ep28] YFM and WXN are cute when they're dating but also serious when their working. To increase sales for their movie, WXN and YFM release a cute video of her singing the traditional Chinese song that's in their movie. The viral video is cute.
[Ep29] Once her movie does well, WXN's "scandalous" affair with YFM hits the tabloids. The culprit isn't Han Hui exactly, but she did motivate Ling Er to do the deed. There's one good thing though: their relationship is no longer a secret.
Cute bucket list: 1) YFM sends an order down to not have anyone call her Mrs. Ye which WXN initially agrees to but then instantly regrets and then remembers to be modest. 2) He kneels down and ties her shoelaces for her. I like that the secretary smiled at this. I did doubt her for the longest time if she would turn evil.
[Ep30] It's the first official meeting with Mom for WXN as YFM's girlfriend. But mom is five steps ahead of them. Mom has long seen her as his girlfriend; this meeting is to discuss their wedding. Lol. They're having dinner and Mom is heavily discriminating against his son to praise her lovely daughter-in-law. This makes him question whether he was adopted. Heh.
WXN has a new acting project she wants. However, YFM and Zhou Xiao Jing are against it. Firstly it's a project hemmed by Jiang Fang. Secondly, the other leading lady is Han Hui. I totally want her to take his project and shove these two idiots squarely in the face.
Second couple: Jia Yi is living the life of your typical Cinderella lead. She gets the evil mom treatment and the pitiful background. To not hinder GYZ, she sacrifices herself and breaks up with him.

Because of this, Han Hui has one upped her by appearing to be the damsel to the heavily armed WXN. This episode feels like the peace before the storm. YFM is planning to propose but you can sense there's going to be hardships along the way.

The lines from WXN and Han Hui becomes lines of their own lives. During filming Han Hui slaps her for stealing his man. I love that WXN retaliates and slaps her back. The filming ends but WXN is still stuck in her role. This was Han Hui's motive all along.

[First Impression (Ep 1-8)]: Ahh~ here's my typical enjoyable rom-com. Such a breeze. By Episode 3 her scheme to make him fall in love is already plain obvious. Phew, there isn't that annoying trope of him misunderstanding her intentions. From hereon I expect to laugh here and there and to be wooed by Ye Fei Mo. Yum.
[Character Names]: You'll notice I'll say "warmth" a lot and it's because of the female lead's name "Wen Xiao Nuan". "Nuan" itself means warm. "Wen Nuan" describes a warmth that's loving, that warms you right to the heart. Hence, YFM often calls her Wen Nuan, the perfect warmth to his cold heart.
[Actors&Actresses]: Ye Fei Mo's role looks like a piece of cake for Wang Guan Yi. Such ease for natural coolness to ooze from him. Loved him and Jiang Zi Xin in The Story of Yan Xi Palace. Where is Jiang Zi Xin anyways? I digressed. Xu Hao looks familiar; I've seen her in a few different dramas but her roles have not been memorable. So far I like her here. She's not annoying yet, heh. [Update] She never gets annoying.
[By Episodes 13&14]: This is ridiculously good. Each episode grows more preposterous than the previous. He's so in love with her and does the dumbest things in the dumbest way but I still love it. I was going to brush aside Gu Yun Zhou's love line but he's too cute.
[Behind the Scenes] There’s a romantic scene where she uses her finger to trace his facial features while he’s asleep. I saw an NG scene of this and it was hilarious. The director had to call cut because her finger was hairy. Hahaha. In the middle of shooting a staff member had to pluck it for her. She whines that it’s just one hair and it’s not even black. From then on she gets teased by it every now and then (by Wang Guan Yi).
[Review]: Hackneyed premise yet it knows how to be fresh. No where in the middle did it lose the cute. That’s truly a feat. As the drama approaches its ending there’s still character growth that’s appreciated. There are unbelievably 2D characters, ahem Mom, but it’s the drama’s way of curtailing annoying tropes. It's awfully ridiculous at times and that makes it awfully good. The drama knows it’s supposed to be cute and stress-free and on that report it deserves an A+++. I like it particularly because it took a simple storyline and made it endearing. The actors and actresses treated this project with sincerity and it translates on screen.
