"Huang Yang" is a combined – not a real compound – surname. Yang comes from her father and Huang comes from her paternal grandmother.
She debuted in Princess Agents (2017) as young Chu Qiao, the childhood version of Zhao Li Ying’s FL. Then, in 2026, she returns as the actual FL Chu Qiao in Rebirth. A very neat full-circle story.
She's been the younger counterparts of not only Zhao Li Ying, but also Dilraba Dilmurat, Zhou Xun, and Yang Mi.

🍉 Earring Scandal (May 2025).

May 2025. She posted graduation photos, and netizens zeroed in on a pair of earrings that were speculated to be Graff, with people throwing estimates of 2.3 million RMB. Since her father worked as a mid-level civil servant, the photos triggered a full-blown online uproar and an official investigation into the family’s finances.
(The intensity of her backlash also has a similar flavour to the criticism about Yang Yang: a resentment toward stars perceived as being elevated by capital, connections, or image over proven merit, making people feel they “didn’t earn” the opportunities they’re given.)
July 2025. The official investigation concluded that 1) the earrings were not actual Graff, but imitation glass. Authorities also said 2) they did not find evidence that her father embezzled public funds. But 3) the father did engage in unauthorized business activity while in office and so he is penalized. And 4) it's confirmed he concealed an unauthorized second child during the One-Child Policy era but this was already handled at the time so no new punishment was imposed in 2025.
