Remarks

Xu Zhen Xuan has been Wu Xie at least twice. Cheng Xiang will be Zhang Qi Ling twice too because he's in the upcoming Southern Anecdote. Meanwhile these two have already appeared together in another show that's currently airing: The Journey of Legend

Xu Lei is the author of Grave Robbers' Chronicles 盜墓筆記. His pen name "Nan Pan San Shu" means "Third Disciple of Southern Sect". There's a saying that if he's involved in the drama, it won't be good, and he's involved in this drama. 🤞?

→ The Mystic Nine (2016) is a stand-alone prequel to the entire LT Series.
→ Legend of Zang Hai (2025) is unrelated (pre-prequel), but mentions an ancestor and "guixi".
→ Southern Anecdote (upcoming, with Zhang Xin Cheng and Ding Yu Xi) is also part of this world.

(These adaptations being all over the place give me OCD)

Wrapped in 2023.

[Ending] Happy. Needs a S2.

Drama Overview & Review

Wu Xie. He’s the boy everyone loves – me too, me too! He’s naive, curious, trusting, smart enough to solve problems, soft enough to make you root for him, and funny just by being normal. [Skip »]
🥺
Wu Xie: "I'm not a scumbag!" 😂
Yelling at the storm like it'll listen :"Are you done yet!!" xD
Pretty! xD
His every skinship with women are frightening
☙ ☙ ☙ ☙ ☙

Zhang Qi Ling. For xiao ge fans, maybe you'd be underwhelmed. He’s still mysterious and powerful, but definitely not much screen presence. As someone new, I didn’t mind at all that he drifts in and out of the story as needed though. (Spoiler in the last picture) [Skip »]
There are certain angles that he looks like Zheng Ye Cheng.
So dramatic just to...bow xD
Who dis?
Hahaha. I didn't see that coming.
☙ ☙ ☙ ☙ ☙

Wang Pang Zi. He started off annoying, but by the end, he was my number 2 guy.!! His jokes kept getting better. [Skip »]
Running for their lives
Wu Xie: "Pang Zi, run faster!"
Pang Zi: "Can you two run slower?"
[Random line unrelated to the pic]
On losing weight: "If I don't lose 30 pounds, I'll write my Wang upside down." 王 upside down is still 王 loool. This man, 廢話真多
[Random line unrelated to the pic]
Piggybacking A Ning: "Why am I short of breath? Am I in love with her?” xD

He's a true opportunist.
Sides with xiao ge. "He has a point"
Wu Xie side-eyes him.
Sides with Wu Xie. "He also has a point."
☙ ☙ ☙ ☙ ☙

Uncle. So mysterious. Pan Zi is always there for Wu Xie, but ultimately his loyalty lies with Uncle. And I think it’s because Uncle loves Wu Xie that Pan Zi dotes on him that much more. [Skip »]
Uncle: "Get Lost"
Pan Zi = Aunty? xD
Da Kui!
The lighting makes it look like he's wearing a bra
Uncle not trusting Zhang Qi Ling:
Uncle...

Xiao Zhan's cameo. 😂 (Legend of Zang Hai reference). [Skip »]
Lifting Xiao Zhan
Piggybacking Xiao Zhan
Princess-carrying Xiao Zhan

But they say he's not Xiao Zhan Wang Zang Hai. Boo.

Aiya ~ I tripped and fell for Xu Zhen Xuan ☺️. I love it when there’s that one drama that makes you fall for an actor the first time. He was cute in Fangs of Fortune (the forgotten member of that gang, hmph). Here, as Wu Xie, he’s the boy everyone loves – and I can fully understand why. I love him too.

Action doesn’t usually excite me because I zone out no matter how cool or scary it is, but I paid more attention than expected for a series full of monsters and fights. What really hooked me were the moments they saved each other (Wu Xie needs a lot of saving, lol) and the small talk while running for their lives. The BTS, though, made me wince. These young actors really got tossed around.

BL undertones? Just bro-tones. Wu Xie and Zhang Qi Ling are strictly comrades at this stage. I actually really, really like the groundwork this show laid for all the relationships. It's so natural. If anything, I preferred Wu Xie’s friendship chemistry with Pang Zi and Pan Zi – the extra g is for the extra grams gags xD. Still, the groundwork is there for Wu Xie and Zhang Qi Ling’s bond to grow into something quiet and profound. I’ll give it that, lol. I’ll also look forward to it – if there's a S2.

Rating: 3/5 ♥ [The middle drags during the transition between the two big adventures – necessary, but not gripping. Still, there were no filler episodes, which I appreciate. Had we gotten more of the Iron Triad as a true team before the very end (and maybe a touch more closure for a S1 finale), I could’ve easily bumped this to a 4.]
