The Night God's bad-breath dark energy seemed to take hold of Bai Xiao Ying... or was it a darkness rising from within herself? Later, during her duel with the spoiled cultivator Wan Yan, Yun Ya grows visibly tense as a demonic energy surges through her. Watching closely, he mutters, “Not good, if here–" Not good if what, Yun Ya? Do you actually know something about our FL?
Ye Chen Yuan (Night God) notices something strange: none of the old men caught on that Bai Xiao Ying was practicing dark cultivation. He figured they’d cancel her participation immediately. But they didn't. Anyway, to ensure she wins, Ye Chen Yuan swaps their souls: Bai Xiao Ying’s soul goes into a rabbit, while his soul takes over her body to poison Yun Ya. The poison weakens Yun Ya before the duel, giving Bai Xiao Ying the edge to win, claim the sword, enter the Sword Realm, and help Ye Chen Yuan recover his physical body.
Bai Xiao Ying's counterattack: use Ye Chen Yuan's greatest fear against him: Dogs. Lol. In front of a (big) pup, our Night God is a big wuss. So while he’s paralyzed, she tucks the dog and him into her pouch and heads to the competition. But before Bai Xiao Ying can warn Yun Ya directly, the poison kicks in, and all the high gods turn on her, accusing her of being a spy. Yun Ya is too injured to protect her, leaving her surrounded and defenceless.
Night God overcomes his dog phobia to save her (and himself). “You still can’t die. You haven’t taken responsibility for today,” he growls. He pours more dark energy into her and orders her to take the sword – because he says she's the only one worthy of it. Hm? And the sword does recognize her as its master. Will she become the Warrior God?
Bai Xiao Ying seizes the moment to strike now that his soul’s back, but before she even swings, he coughs up blood. He’s bleeding and weakened, yet still taunts her. Furious, she aims for his heart, but instead of dodging, he drives the blade deeper himself. She realizes he’s in this state because of protecting her and refuses to kill him. She’s clear about one thing: she owes him her life. When he recovers, then she’ll kill him. One won’t admit he saved her. The other won’t admit she can’t kill him.
Bai Xiao Ying cries that Yun Ya doesn’t believe in her. Girl, you’re barely explaining yourself and you won’t kill the villain. 2ML is trying very hard here already. Yun Ya hesitates to attack her, so the Heavenly Lord directly commands Yun Ya’s sword to strike. Gramps, you got no sword of your own?
At the last second, Ye Chen Yuan shields Bai Xiao Ying, taking the blow straight through his chest. Perfect. Now both his pecs have been pierced. Balanced. He claims he’s saving her just to keep tormenting her. Uh huh. Yun Ya demands he leave his disciple behind. Yeah, no.
Bai Xiao Ying wants to ditch unconscious Ye Chen Yuan, but their souls are still bound. Noble as ever, she takes care of him until he mutters another woman’s name in his sleep: "Bai Yi Xi." His lover? When he wakes, he teases her instead: “Looks like someone doesn’t want me dead.” Yes – so she can kill him later. O-kay.

They head to the Night Realm to heal Ye Chen Yuan and find a Crystal to activate Bai Xiao Ying's Sword. Instead, they’re immediately arrested by his own subordinate, Hua Yu Ying. The Night God himself, arrested! His escape plan? Whispering to Bai Xiao Ying: “You are my backup plan.” Not funny. Thankfully, his lackey Jiao Tu (which sounds like follower) busts them out, and Ye Chen Yuan finally gets his spa treatment.
Bai Xiao Ying notices all his injuries were from protecting her. Could he... like her? Nah. He calls her dumb. Good. She still plans to kill him. Then why isn’t she striking now, while he’s helpless? Could she...? “Dream on,” she snaps. What ep am I on. Why is this love happening so fast.
Hua Yu Ying suddenly returns... with a marriage proposal. Girl, pick a lane. Bai Xiao Ying – with whatever authority – agrees because it gets her the crystal. Ye Chen Yuan’s heart cracks. But she’s hurting too, believing he killed her mother. She storms off, yet thanks to their soul cord, they literally cannot separate. She’s had it: “Can’t even fight without being stuck together! So annoying!” That is very annoying, haha. 真的煩死啦 xD. Then Ye Chen Yuan coughs, badly injured from a heartbreak on top of everything else. Bai Xiao Ying forgets her anger and rushes to care for him. She even feeds him medicine mouth-to-mouth. By the third "kiss," he fully opens his eyes, startling her. She swears it’s just medicine. He smugly tells her to finish feeding him. She almost does before realizing... he can chew by himself.
And now we have a lot to chew on and thankfully no bad-breath to kiss because Hua Yu Ying drops a lot of information. Twenty years ago, Ye Chen Yuan led them to the Sword, then vanished into seclusion. Now, he’s barely at 1% power, so why should she obey him? So why marry him?? Bai Xiao Ying suddenly realizes he has an airtight alibi: he couldn’t have killed her mother ten years ago. And I suddenly realize... ah, so only twenty years of halitosis. Practically fresh! And then This Pearl that should recognize the Night God doesn’t even acknowledge him. Meaning... Ye Chen Yuan might not be the real Night God?
Bai Xiao Ying demands answers. Instead, Ye Chen Yuan coldly announces he will marry Hua Yu Ying. Pretty, strong, and perfect to rule by his side, using Bai Xiao Ying’s own words against her. She begs him to stop. Why? “Because I don’t want you to marry her,” she blurts. Why not? She scrambles for an excuse – the cord! They can’t cut it yet. Except... they can cut it.
Ye Chen Yuan slices the Cord. Their bond shatters... and so does something unspoken between them. Now he announces he’s going to marry Hua Yu Ying. And 2FL is still on board? Why. Meanwhile 2ML zaps in out of nowhere – literally – to whisk Bai Xiao Ying away right in front of Ye Chen Yuan who's cold to her on the outside, but dying inside.
At Nine Heavenly Realm, the grand test to prove her innocence is... if she survives, she’s innocent.... Bai Xiao Ying barely survives. But not because she is innocent of Night cultivation. Yun Ya’s bracelet glowed. 2ML being there all the way for her. BUT WAIT! Ye Chen Yuan kept the bracelet too.....
And what is this. Why is someone else's fiancé storming here to take Bai Xiao Ying back?? Dude, you pick a lane too. She wrangles both men into sitting down for tea like adults, which lasts about ten seconds before they’re back on their feet, arguing over who hurt her more. Finally, they talk strategy: they need the Crystal and a plan to make Ye Chen Yuan the rightful Night God. She believes in him now. 2ML does not. So she whips out Truth Water. She flicks it at Ye Chen Yuan. "Once we help you get the Crystal, will you hand it over?" Yes. Then it’s Yun Ya’s turn. LOL.

And with that, it's revealed. Both men are in love with Bai Xiao Ying – and she's sitting right there witnessing all the drama. Seriously. What ep am I on, lol.

And the Crystal is recovered! Next up on Bai Xiao Ying’s to-do list: convince everyone Ye Chen Yuan isn’t the same Night God from 300 years ago. But the Heavenly Lord drops some ancient lore: 1500 years ago, Goddess Xi Wu sealed the original Night God into the purest of souls: her newborn baby girl. Since then, the Night God has revived five times, each in a new body. That baby girl no longer exists.
Betrayal strikes so fast.
The second Bai Xiao Ying’s Sword activates, Ye Chen Yuan attacks her. Last night wasn’t empowerment – it was poison. I knew it was bad breath lol. She refuses to believe it. She gives him one last chance to explain. He gives her his best wicked laugh and ditches her. But still, our girl sets out to uncover the real truth. Aw.
Bai Xiao Ying crashes Ye Chen Yuan's wedding. She thinks he's marrying Hua Yu Ying to make her hate him. (He definitely is.) It's still brutal to her heart, though and she leaves with blood dripping from her mouth and her heart.
But no, Bai Xiao Ying still didn't leave. AW. Our FL's instincts are good. She tells Ye Chen Yuan that staying doesn’t mean his words didn’t hurt her. (Meanwhile, he’s secretly suffering from some mysterious internal pain.) He flings her away anyway, daring her to take revenge. But she still doubts his current evil streak. So he shows her exactly the image she hates: the Night God himself.
Heavenly Lord conveniently whips out a random scroll that can boost powers tenfold, and this lazy old bum bestows it to Yun Ya, who then charges into the Night Realm to snatch the Sword from Ye Chen Yuan. But the Sword’s power corrodes his arm at an alarming rate. To stop it, Yun Ya chops off his own arm!! :O He does retrieve the Sword, though. And that finally tips Bai Xiao Ying into full hate mode.

The duel: Ye Chen Yuan vs. Bai Xiao Ying. She goes for the kill. And... he lets her. Can we slow down, lol.
Bai Xiao Ying tries to pull the sword out of Ye Chen Yuan’s chest, but he keeps it firmly lodged in there, his smile assuring her that it's all okay. This is not okay. And suddenly she's sucked into the Sword Realm. Inside, she sees what went down 1500 years ago.
1500 years ago.
After Goddess Xi Wu sealed the Night God in her newborn, she and God Ji Bai (the parents? Their names check out) sacrificed their bodies to become the Crystal. The(ir) poor baby girl, Bai Yi Xi should’ve been celebrated as a hero, but nope, everyone treated her like a curse. Only one kid, Wan Gu Chen, was kind to her.
Of course, these two kids grow up to look exactly like Bai Xiao Ying and Ye Chen Yuan. Bai Xiao Ying is Bai Yi Xi, and now these memories are hers too.
Wan Gu Chen’s life is miserable too. His older brother, Wan Zi Rui, constantly bullies him, calling him a curse to their family, and so he curses Wan Gu Chen with a spell so no matter what identity he assumes and how strong he gets, he’ll always be terrified of dogs. Aw :( And her being as miserable as him is one reason he likes her. Maybe he didn't say it exactly like that (:0
Sweet, sweet Bai Yi Xi assures Wan Gu Chen that from now on, she'll protect him. She gives him the only item her mother left behind: a chime. When she isn't around, she says this will help her protect him. She initiates the first skinship too~
After the outburst, Bai Yi Xi is locked up. To protect her, Wan Gu Chen, against all odds that we skipped, rises from the weakest to become the master of the Sword, the God of War. He thinks she can be released now that there's a protector. But this “protector” title is a scam. He's actually an exterminator meant to kill her. He refuses to oblige, and so the high gods kill him instead??
Grief flips a switch. Bai Yi Xi lets the Night God take over to avenge Wan Gu Chen. Except Wan Gu Chen is very much alive. He’s ordered to kill Bai Yi Xi by the Heavenly Lord (who's like See! She's evil! DUDE. You lit the match, and now you’re all self-righteously indignant there’s a fire. But even Bai Yi Xi begs him to do it before her body loses control. Instead, Wan Gu Chen reseals the Sword and vows to run away with her.
They're happy for like 5 minutes. This Night God energy is no joke. Bai Yi Xi starts literally thirsting for blood, and Wan Gu Chen willing becomes her blood bag, her anything, whatever it takes to keep her safe.

Wan Gu Chen has decided to kill Bai Yi Xi after she lost control and nearly wiped out the village. He can’t bear to watch the woman he loves be twisted like this even if it means killing Bai Yi Xi herself. But before the inevitable, they marry. Except under her veil, a mocking laughter escapes. Resolved, Wan Gu Chen summons his Sword to kill the Night God. But soon he realizes that Bai Yi Xi was baiting him to kill her. She had seen him unseal the Sword. She doesn't hate him. She doesn't even have enough room to love him. She only wishes for him to live well after she’s gone.
Wan Gu Chen takes his own life, but the Heavenly Lord stops him. Bai Yi Xi isn’t gone forever. She’ll revive in 300 years.

Bai Yi Xi is reborn as Bai Chu Li, a seductive Night "vixen" who literally drains the life out of men, despicable men. Of course Wan Gu Cen recognizes her, but she doesn't remember him. The Heavenly Lord swoops in like, “Oh yeah, you’ll have to kill her again. The Night God’s still in there.” Wan Gu Chen's like "... You couldn’t have mentioned this earlier?!" Dude? Of course not. That would require basic honesty. The fact that you still trust him flabbergasts me, Wan Gu Chen.

Bai Chu Li falls for Wan Gu Chen all over again. But he ghosts her. Because...? So naturally, she storms all the way to the Nine Heavenly Realms to find her man. Girl! You only had him in bed for like ten seconds. Sure, he secretly made you pretty again, but don’t forget why you got “ugly” in the first place, and why grandma died! Love-brain at maximum setting. Love her! xD. And here we go again. The Heavenly Lord still hasn’t learned a damn thing and orders Wan Gu Chen to kill her. Wan Gu Chen flat-out refuses. Bai Chu Li, completely smitten, thinks it’s just a case of mistaken identity and...rips her own night-daemon core out. GURL. Meanwhile, Wan Gu Chen just stands there. Dude.
And they – as in you, Wan Gu Chen – never learn! Who said the Heavenly Lord would his word? And hell, he didn't even agree to this deal... He still takes Bai Chu Li's life. Wan Gu Chen...moves! The Heavenly Lord's like, “Will you really defy all of the gods to save her?” Gramps, where you've been for 300 years.
As Wan Gu Chen bleeds for her, a dark voice tempts Bai Chu Li with the Night Power. And then the Heavenly Lord gasps, “Oh no, her Night God power is erupting!” NO, REALLY. She passes out from the overwhelming power (me too me too, but from Heavenly Lord's overwhelming stupidity), and Wan Gu Chen quickly zaps her away. Once they're safe, it's her who reassures him she'll take responsibility for him from now on.
Bai Chu Li doesn't have many more days, and she wants to spend the night in bed ~ The 300+ year old Wan Gu Chen wants to go for a walk. There, these girls with no eyeball in their eyes swoon over Wan Gu Chen, calling him handsome. Bai Chu Li, crosses her arm, bursting with girlfriend energy, announces he's hers. All yours, lmao. Which then leads to the big question: has he ever loved anyone before? Yes. You. She meant before her. Before you...was still you. Aw All yours, truly.
Bai Chu Li gifts Wan Gu Chen a doll shaped like herself. There’s one request attached: “You’re not allowed to forget me. Normally, you can just store it away. You don’t have to keep it out. Normally... you don’t even have to think of me. Just... occasionally, when you see the doll, think of me for a bit.” Awwwww. Of course, Wan Gu Chen will never forget her. He just asks that when they meet again, she won’t keep him waiting too long.

Our FL is a fox. Ok, she's kinda really cute. She's in a master-pet relationship with Wan Gu Chen. Meanwhile, the majestic-moustached high gods call him in for War God duties. Since when has he done anything as the God of War besides, you know, killing our FL? Lol.
After marathoning their own tragic movie, Wan Gu Chen figures out how to end their endless cycle: suck all Bai Yi Xi's Night Power into himself and then give her all his power in return. Now she’ll be safe, and every 300 years she’ll get to... kill him instead. Problem solved! (Also, how does this movie work...those were Bai Yi Xi’s mother’s private thoughts. Does this Sword Realm have mind-reading feature too? Or he can read what only she can read?)
To protect Wan Gu Chen, our Nine-tailed Fox FL (she gets to be everything in this show xD) lets herself be consumed by the Night God. Wan Gu Chen offers his body too. Nope. Night God prefers FL's. Better breath experience? LOL. Or our Night God swings that way xD. Wan Gu Chen has no choice but to kill her again. Bai Yi Xi smiles at him. "For the past thousand years, it has been tough on you."

Lord help this Heavenly Lord. He's so senile, he can't recognize Wan Gu Chen and once he uses the Night Power, he's convinced he's the new Night God. (Alright fine, everyone in this realm is face-blind).

An ep without Wan Gu Chen and I have this little to talk about, lool.
All of Bai Xiao Ying’s friends suffer for defending her innocence. That is two. But one ride-or-die friend is more than anyone can ask for, and she's got two: one-armed hobo Yun Ya, and sweet Chang Qing Rou.
Meanwhile, we finally learn the Heavenly Lord’s true plan... And correction: Bai Xiao Ying’s mother became the Sword, and her father was to become the Crystal. But before her father could crystallize, Heavenly Lord (Chang Geng) attacked him because he doesn’t actually want a sword strong enough to kill the Night God. If the Night God disappears, the people won’t "need" the Heavenly Realm for protection, which means they won’t need him. So this politician keeps the Night God coming back every 300 years. The Dad, barely clinging to life, is still strong enough to critically injure the Heavenly Lord, and now he's too weak to activate the sword. He's so pathetic. The Dad passes away. So did the dad crystallize? Because the crystal to activate the sword does exist.
Back in the present, with the Heavenly Lord manipulating her, Bai Xiao Ying’s pushed past her limit and fully becomes the Night God. Again. So what did Ye Chen Yuan achieve? Cue Heavenly Lord laughing maniacally like, "YES! She’s back!"....
As Bai Xiao Ying steps out in her new Night God form, literally standing on top of Jiao Tu to assert dominance, Yun Ya is up in the Heavenly Realms, kneeling...and apologizing to the Heavenly Lord. I thought Yun Ya was playing double agent, but when Bai Xiao Ying calls, he floats up towards her publicly. When everyone abandoned him, she didn't. So if she wants the destroy the world, he's all in as her right-hand man. Emphasis on right hand, since that’s all he’s got left. Bai Xiao Ying is so powerful, it's like she single-handedly rounded up all the gods as hostages. Everyone except... the missing Heavenly Lord.
No double agent here. Yun Ya is basically doing damage control, protecting his Heavenly Realm peeps from Bai Xiao Ying's wrath.
There is a saboteur here: their own Heavenly Lord, Feng Chang Geng. Dude's straight-up murdering his own people to bring Ye Chen Yuan back to life.
Ye Chen Yuan is back O.O. He's barely alive with one shred of soul and one shred of spirit. And he operates with one command: "Kill the Night God". Good thing Bai Xiao Ying is now powerful enough to hold him back. She even forces Feng Chang Geng to fully heal Ye Chen Yuan (which was his plan anyway). And he gives in way too quickly to her. But even if she may suspect Feng Chang Geng, saving Ye Chen Yuan is her priority.
Bai Xiao Ying lets Ye Chen Yuan suck her blood to heal. After everything Ye Chen Yuan has done for her over 1200 years, this is nothing... Poor Yun Ya has to watch it for almost a whole minute though, which gives us this awkward scene: ML has his mouth clamped on her neck for almost a whole minute. And there’s an audience, Yun Ya, watching the "intense" sucking. But why is Feng Chang Geng getting more powerful...

Wedding. Or funeral? Bai Xiao Ying and Ye Chen Yuan exchange wine, but it's poisoned wine. She weakens him so he can’t fight back while she pours the last of her energy. And finally, his memories of their six lives snap into place.
I really like this FL, and all her different characters.
Yun Ya and co object the marriage storm the Night God, only to find he’s not inside Bai Xiao Ying or Ye Chen Yuan. They've all been duped by Feng Chang Geng. Ye Chen Yuan was just a vessel funnelling Night power to Feng Chang Geng. (Perfect! Thank you for ending the cycle. Now we just have to kill you). Except he destroys the only Sword that can kill him, and our bride and groom are powerless.

Hua Ru Ying refuses to obey Feng Chang Geng. Although she bows to the strong, the one thing she can’t stand is a hypocrite. Go girl! And then she dies. NOOO. On the other hand, Jiao Tu easily betrays. His loyalty lies with whoever is the Night God.

Third time’s the charm: Bai Xiao Ying and Ye Chen Yuan finally marry. He cries. "These 1500 years, I’ve only had brief reunions and endless, painful waiting. Every moment, I’ve been waiting for this day. In this life, I have no regrets.” T_T. Bai Xiao Ying promises him that no matter what happens tomorrow, nothing will ever separate them again. Every lifetime, no matter who she was, she always fell in love with him. If there’s another life, she will find him and fall in love with him again. No. More. Other. Lives! This life please!! 
But there’s still hypnotized Yun Ya. Bai Xiao Ying stops his sword not with her own blade, but with her bare hands, so of course it dig straight into her chest. Thankfully, Yun Ya's heart is jolted too. Unfortunately, Feng Chang Geng immediately attacks, shattering Bai Xiao Ying’s Sword. Mother!
Yun Ya steps forward... to become her Sword! Σ(°□°˶) !!
But not just any Sword can kill the Night God. So Ye Chen Yuan becomes the Sword Spirit. Everyone, from Night to Heavenly Realm, pours their power into him for one final strike.
The Night God perishes. And so does Ye Chen Yuan.
Jiao Tu never betrayed. His smirk looks devilishly good lol.

Goddess Xi Wu – the mother who permanently disappeared – reappears, lol. Except it isn’t really her being reborn as legend says. Instead, a new Goddess is born: Bai Xiao Ying herself. Now she has the power to bring Ye Chen Yuan back into the cycle of life.
And he’s back!

[First Impression (Ep1-6)] Too similar to Love Between Fairy and Devil! I feel like I'm watching a spin-off. But I'm actually happy to get another LBFAD-like story even if it’s a little too "inspired," lol. This story is fun too, the pacing is even faster, and it keeps me hooked.

I really like the FL, Qi Yu Chen. I’d seen her before in Wind Direction, where I skipped around just to watch her and Li Qing’s parts. She’s showing way more range than I expected here, especially with how she sometimes has to act as the ML too, and she does him better than he does himself LOL.
