As of 2026, he has his own studio, but also associated with Tencent, which is why all his dramas in recent years have been on that platform.
In 2019, he was a Chuang boy. He finished 19th, outside the debut lineup that produced 11-member R1SE: Zhou Zhen Nan (singer), He Luo Luo, Yan Xu Jia, Xia Zhi Guang, Yao Chen, Zhai Xiao Wen, Zhang Yan Qi (!! From Hi6), Liu Ye, Ren Hao, Zhao Lei, and Zhao Rang.
He didn’t debut in the idol group, but he found his own path: the Steve path. Specifically, Zhao Lu Si’s Steve. He was her 2ML in Love Like the Galaxy, The Last Immortal, and popped up in a Pepsi commercial where the leads were "Zhao Lu Si and Wang He Di". Even in award shows, fans would capture him between Zhao Lu Si and her MLs.
His real nickname, however, is Xiao Lin (小林 / Little Forest). Everyone calls him that and the joke is no one even remembers he's a Li. His gradnmother gave it to him because he was said to be "missing wood 木" in a traditional five-elements naming reading, and Lin林 has double 木. He also has an older twin brother, and yes, his nickname is Da Lin (Big Forest).
He is very athletic. Basketball, obviously – because if a Chinese male celeb can’t hoop at least a little, are they even allowed in Hengdian. He also runs in marathons.

The Creation of the Gods Hell Camp (before Chuang 2019).

January 2018 – June 2018. Training camp. Reportedly, he was 1 of 20 chosen from 15,000 applicants. They had brutal long-term prep involving endurance work, early morning runs, horse riding, archery, martial arts, and enough historical-warrior training to make everyone look battle-ready – for a movie.
September 2018. Filming started and last 18 months to shoot all three movies.
June 20, 2023. Part I finally aired (5 years!!!!).
January 29, 2025. Part II hit theatres. (But in between so many scandals for the MLs for Yu Shi and Chen Mu Chi)
TBD as of 2026 for Part III.
Conclusion: over 2 years of training + filming, and almost a decade to air its entirety, Li Yun Rui had like 10 minutes of screen time, maybe.
